500 Words Essay on Weekend

The essence of the weekend, the historical evolution.

Historically, the idea of the weekend has evolved significantly. The notion of a two-day weekend is largely a 20th-century phenomenon, brought about by labor movements advocating for improved working conditions. In the past, workers were often expected to labor for six or even seven days a week. The fight for a shorter workweek was a significant step in the evolution of labor rights, and the weekend became a symbol of these hard-won victories.

The Social Value of Weekends

The weekend is not just a break from work; it is a social institution that plays a vital role in our lives. It is a time for socializing, for family, and for community activities. It is also a time for rest and rejuvenation, allowing individuals to recharge and prepare for the week ahead. The weekend provides a balance to the workweek, preventing burnout and contributing to overall well-being.

Weekends and Personal Growth

The economic impact of weekends.

From an economic perspective, the weekend plays a significant role. Many industries, such as retail, entertainment, and hospitality, thrive during the weekend. These sectors cater to the increased leisure time people have, creating jobs and contributing to economic growth. Conversely, some industries face challenges due to the weekend, as they must adapt to a non-standard workweek.

The Future of the Weekend

As our society continues to evolve, so too does the concept of the weekend. With the rise of flexible working arrangements and remote work, the traditional five-day workweek is being challenged. Some argue for a four-day workweek, suggesting it could increase productivity and improve work-life balance. This ongoing evolution reflects the dynamic nature of our society and the importance of the weekend in our lives.

In conclusion, the weekend is more than just a break from work. It is a social, economic, and personal institution that plays a crucial role in our lives. As we move forward, it will be interesting to see how the concept of the weekend continues to evolve in response to societal changes and technological advancements.

Band-9 Samples: How do you usually spend your weekends? [Why?]

This post contains ideas and band-9 sample answers (audio included) for the  Cambridge IELTS 10 Academic Speaking Part 1 Question 1 Test 1  question:

“How do you usually spend your weekends? [Why?]”

For me, weekends are all about rejuvenating after a long week. I usually opt for a laid-back approach, spending my time at home, indulging in my favorite books, or catching up on TV series. It’s not the most adventurous routine, but it gives me a sense of tranquility that I truly cherish.

As someone deeply invested in fitness, I utilize my weekends for intensive workout sessions. My typical Saturday or Sunday involves a mix of cardio, strength training, and yoga. It’s demanding, I won’t deny, but it helps me maintain a healthy lifestyle and also boosts my mental well-being.

My weekends are typically bustling with social activities. I’m the kind of person who thrives on interaction and camaraderie. So, whether it’s a casual brunch with friends or a lively evening party, I try to fill my off days with as much human connection as possible. It’s a simple way to unwind and it keeps me in high spirits.

My weekends are often consumed by my quest to master the English language. I’ve set a target to be fluent, so I dedicate a good chunk of my free time to studying. I might spend hours engrossed in English novels, watching English movies to improve my listening skills, or participating in language exchange meetups to practice speaking. It keeps me intellectually stimulated and I believe it will open a plethora of opportunities for me in the future.

Weekends for me are usually about committing time to my side business. It’s a venture I’m really passionate about and I believe it holds the potential to create a substantive financial return in the future. The idea is not just to accumulate wealth, but to achieve a level of financial independence that could give me the freedom I desire.

Typically, my weekends are dedicated to cherishing the bond I share with my family. Given the demanding nature of my job, it’s often challenging to carve out quality time for my loved one during the weekdays. So, I make it a point to devote my off days to them, engaging in activities that we all enjoy and love.

Living in a bustling city, my weekends are typically planned as a much-needed escape. I usually drive out to the outskirts or a quiet rural area. These short trips provide a refreshing change of scenery and a chance to breathe in some fresh, unpolluted air. It’s a sort of stress-busting therapy for me, a perfect antidote to the week-long urban commotion.

I usually spend my weekends indulging in delicious meals, hanging out with friends at cozy coffee spots, or watching intriguing movies. The reason is quite simple: these activities provide me with the perfect blend of relaxation, socialization, and entertainment that I need after a hectic week. Plus, it’s a great way to keep my life balanced and enjoyable.

Typically, I spend my weekends taking a brief bus ride back to my family home from the university dormitory. I’m fortunate enough that my home is only about 50 to 60 kilometers away, which makes this commute quite manageable. I find solace in the familiarity of my home surroundings and the company of my family. This simple routine allows me to escape the academic intensity and refresh my mind for the coming week.

I often spend my weekends working at a local store. I took up this part-time job not just because I come from a financially-challenged family and need to afford my meals, but also because I believe in self-sufficiency. I find it enriching as it helps me grow as an individual and understand the value of money.

Boaters beware: Des Moines River level to fall during Labor Day weekend. Why?

essay on how you spend your weekend

Boaters should lower their expectations if they plan to spend the holiday weekend on the Des Moines River.

The river and Birdland Marina will experience "significantly" lower-than-usual water levels beginning at 7:30 a.m. Friday and continuing into Saturday as city of Des Moines workers install flashboards on the Center Street Dam below the Women of Achievement Bridge downtown.

In a news release, the city said the lowered water levels are anticipated to last 24 to 36 hours.

Flashboards are metal gates typically installed on the dam over the summer to raise the river level by 2 feet for recreational purposes. They also can be used to divert the river during construction and are used to boost water collection for Des Moines Water Works on the Raccoon River during droughts.

According to the release, the change in the water level will come as the outflow at the Saylorville Dam upriver from Des Moines is restricted so crews can install the flashboards. Once the installation is complete, the outflow at the dam will return to normal, restoring the river's water level.

If weather conditions change, the process will be rescheduled for Sept. 3.

Just a month ago, the Des Moines River was at minor flood level following the sixth-rainiest July on record in central Iowa and even heavier precipitation upstream. But the National Weather Service has recorded only about half the usual amount of rain for August, with only a few days left in the month, and the river's flow has fallen steadily.

However, crafting an essay that captivates readers and effectively communicates why this activity is special to you can be a challenge. In this article, we'll provide you with a step-by-step guide, along with three engaging essay examples, to help you write a compelling piece on your favorite weekend activity. So, grab your writer's hat, and let's dive in!

  • What is a Weekend Activity Essay?

A weekend activity essay is a personal narrative or descriptive piece that focuses on an activity you enjoy doing during your free time, typically over the weekend. This type of essay allows you to express your passion, describe your experiences, and explain why this activity holds a special place in your heart. It's a chance to reveal a bit about your personality and interests while honing your writing skills.

  • Tips for Writing a Memorable Weekend Activity Essay

1. Choose a Specific Activity

Start by selecting one specific activity that you genuinely enjoy and can write about enthusiastically. Whether it's hiking, painting, reading, or baking, make sure it's an activity you are passionate about.

2. Use Vivid Descriptions

Paint a picture with your words by using vivid descriptions and sensory details. Describe the sights, sounds, smells, and emotions you associate with your favorite weekend activity. This will help your readers visualize and connect with your experience.

3. Include Personal Anecdotes

Share personal anecdotes or memorable experiences related to your activity. These stories add a human touch to your essay and make it more relatable and engaging.

4. Explain the Significance

Clearly explain why this activity is important to you. How does it make you feel? What do you gain from it? Why is it your favorite way to spend your weekend? This helps readers understand the deeper meaning behind your choice.

5. Structure Your Essay

Organize your essay logically with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Use headings and subheadings to break up the text and make it easier to read.

  • Example 1: Hiking in the Mountains

Introduction

Every weekend, as the sun rises and paints the sky with hues of orange and pink, I lace up my hiking boots and prepare to embark on an adventure in the mountains. Hiking has become my favorite weekend activity, allowing me to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature.

The Thrill of the Ascent

The moment I step onto the trail, I am filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation. The path winds through dense forests, alongside bubbling streams, and over rocky terrain. As I ascend higher, the air becomes cooler and crisper, and the sounds of civilization fade away. I am accompanied by the symphony of birds singing, leaves rustling, and the distant roar of waterfalls.

A Journey of Discovery

Hiking is not just a physical challenge; it is a journey of discovery. Along the way, I encounter breathtaking vistas, hidden waterfalls, and vibrant wildflowers. Each step brings new surprises and a sense of wonder. I often pause to capture these moments with my camera, preserving the beauty of the mountains in photographs.

A Time for Reflection

Hiking also provides me with a valuable opportunity for reflection. As I navigate the trails, my mind clears, and I find myself contemplating life's challenges and joys. The solitude of the mountains allows me to gain perspective and find inner peace.

Hiking in the mountains has become more than just a weekend activity; it is a passion that rejuvenates my soul. The thrill of the ascent, the journey of discovery, and the time for reflection make it my favorite way to spend my weekends. Whether conquering a challenging peak or simply enjoying a leisurely hike, the mountains always call me back, and I eagerly answer.

  • Example 2: Baking Sweet Treats

The aroma of freshly baked cookies wafts through the air, filling my kitchen with warmth and sweetness. Baking has become my favorite weekend activity, allowing me to unleash my creativity and share delicious treats with family and friends.

The Joy of Creating

Baking is like a form of art; it allows me to experiment with flavors, textures, and designs. From mixing the dough to decorating the final product, every step is a creative process. I love trying new recipes and putting my unique twist on classic treats.

A Sensory Experience

Baking is a sensory experience that engages all my senses. The sight of golden-brown cookies emerging from the oven, the sound of dough being kneaded, the smell of vanilla and chocolate, the taste of freshly baked goodies, and the feeling of satisfaction when a recipe turns out perfect—all of these sensations make baking an incredibly rewarding activity.

Sharing the Love

One of the best parts of baking is sharing the results with others. Whether it's bringing a batch of cookies to a family gathering or surprising a friend with a homemade cake, baking allows me to spread joy and create lasting memories. The smiles and gratitude from my loved ones make all the effort worthwhile.

Baking sweet treats is more than just a hobby; it's a passion that brings me immense joy and fulfillment. The joy of creating, the sensory experience, and the act of sharing love make it my favorite weekend activity. As I continue to bake and experiment, I look forward to many more delicious weekends filled with laughter and sweetness.

  • Example 3: Reading in a Cozy Corner

In a quiet corner of my home, surrounded by the comforting scent of old books and the soft rustle of turning pages, I escape into the world of literature. Reading has become my favorite weekend activity, providing a sanctuary of relaxation and imagination.

A Journey Through Words

Every book is a new adventure waiting to be explored. As I read, I am transported to different times and places, experiencing the lives and emotions of diverse characters. The power of words captivates me, drawing me into stories that ignite my imagination and expand my horizons.

The Comfort of Solitude

Reading offers a sense of solitude that is both comforting and rejuvenating. In my cozy corner, I can lose myself in a book without distractions. The soft ambiance, the gentle hum of a nearby lamp, and the comfort of a warm blanket create the perfect environment for uninterrupted reading.

A Source of Inspiration

Books have the power to inspire and teach. Through reading, I gain new insights, knowledge, and perspectives. Whether it's a thought-provoking novel, a historical biography, or a self-help guide, each book leaves a lasting impact, enriching my understanding of the world and myself.

Reading in a cozy corner is more than just a pastime; it is a cherished ritual that brings me peace and inspiration. The journey through words, the comfort of solitude, and the wealth of knowledge make it my favorite way to spend my weekends. As I continue to explore the literary world, I eagerly anticipate the countless stories and adventures that await me.

IELTS SPEAKING PART 1: WEEKEND [ANSWERS]

Do you like weekends?

(Answer 1)

Of course! Who doesn’t like weekends? (rhetorical question – doesn’t need an answer, it is only used to add a dramatic effect) I really believe that every one of us loves weekends as we don’t need to wake up early to go to work or school. It’s the time that we can recharge our batteries (to regain our strength and energy by resting and relaxing for a time) and do something that can make us feel good. How I wish every day is a weekend!

(Answer 2)

I love weekends! Weekends are the only days that I can destress (relax after a period of work) myself. So, every weekend I make sure to do the things that I love, such as walking with my dog at the park, malling, gardening, and cooking new recipes. Today is halfway (in the middle of the period of time) through the week and you don’t have any idea how excited I am for the weekend to come.

What do you usually like to do on weekends?

As a homebody ( a person who likes to stay at home ) , I usually spend my free time on weekends cleaning the house, watching Netflix series, and cooking. I find pleasure ( to enjoy doing something very much ) in doing these things rather than going out or meeting people, doing the latter ( second mentioned ) simply drains my energy.

I love hanging out ( to spend a lot of time in a place or with someone ) with my friends as that’s the only time we can see one another and spend a great time updating each other’s lives. Most of the time we have a packed schedule on weekdays that even having a short meet-up like having coffee isn’t possible. But unfortunately these days, we’ve decided to minimize meeting outside just for safety purposes. Living during this pandemic needs extra care. You know, prevention is better than cure are words to live by   ( a motto; a piece of advice that one is adhered to ) .

What did you do last weekend?

Well, it was a lazy weekend for me. I didn’t do anything special, at all. I just spent time sleeping or lying on my bed since the weather wasn’t good. It was raining cats and dogs (raining very hard) for the whole weekend. I hope that this coming weekend, I’ll be able to do something worthwhile (valuable) .

I went shopping last weekend with my friends and unfortunately, I splurged about $400 on (splurge on – to spend extravagantly) clothes. It was such an impulse buy (something you buy suddenly without thinking about it carefully) . In fact, I had some regrets for spending so much last weekend so I need to discipline myself not to spend lavishly (in a way that is expensive) for the next few months.

(Answer 3)

Honestly, I was kind of lazy last weekend, I didn’t do anything productive as I just wanted to get a good rest. I just lay on my bed for hours and hours and spent time binge-watching ( watching several episodes) my favorite TV series. I don’t usually do that, but for some reason, I wasn’t inspired to do something valuable and I think that’s alright since it’s not all the time that we’re at our best ( in one’s most excellent condition or state) .

(Answer 4)

Well, what did I do? Oh yeah, I baked a banana cake after watching some baking videos on Youtube. It was actually my first time baking a banana cake and I couldn’t be happier ( to be very happy) with the result since I was able to achieve the texture, the taste which I consider perfect, and the right moistness ( the quality of being slightly wet) . I might learn more about baking this weekend.

What will you do next weekend?

I’ve nothing in mind yet. I dunno, I might treat myself to eating something special or going to the cinema, just to reward myself for staying up late ( to remain awake past one’s usual bedtime) preparing for this IELTS exam. I think I deserve something lovely this weekend, but honestly, I can’t decide yet on what to do this upcoming weekend at the moment as my mind is preoccupied ( engrossed in thought) with this IELTS exam.

Well, I’ve already planned to visit my grandparents since I haven’t seen them for several months now. And my grandpa will turn ( become )  80 next month so I’d like to celebrate his birthday in advance as I don’t know if my schedule will be available on his birthday. I don’t want him to be disappointed so I better see him while my schedule is not tight ( when the schedule is tight, it means busy) yet.

Do you like going to the cinema on weekends?

Not at all, I feel uncomfortable being with the crowd ( a large number of people gathered together) of moviegoers. If I want to watch movies, I often do it online or I do the traditional one which is buying or renting a DVD from a shop and enjoying watching it in the comfort of my room.

Yes but I go to the cinema only when there’s a great movie that’s just been released or when my friends invite me. It’s great to watch a movie on the big screen ( the cinema) every now and then but I can’t imagine doing it oftentimes, I’ll surely go broke ( having no money ) if I do it every weekend.

Do you make plans for your weekends?

Not really because I want it to be spontaneous (natural; without planning) . I’m not the type of person who always organizes things ahead of time since it’s not fun. If I always plan things, I feel like I’m restricted (limited in extent, action, etc.) and I feel like a robot that I’m programmed to do what has been prepared.

Yes, I do because I want to make sure that I can do something that can surely help me relieve stress from work. As I said, Saturday and Sunday are the only days that I can destress myself so in the middle of the week, I already plan the things that I want to do for the upcoming (happening soon) weekend. And by doing that, I oftentimes make the most of (to take full advantage of something) my weekend.

Do you think it is important to make the most of your weekend?

Well, yes, if it’s possible since it’s not every day that it’s the weekend. So, people should spend time doing the things that can make them happy or make them forget about their work. And if possible, people should not work on weekends because these days are intended (meant) for relaxation.

Of course! And that’s the very main reason why I make it a habit to plan the things that I want to do every weekend. You know life is short not to make the most of our weekend. We don’t have so much time in the world so let’s be wiser in planning our weekend and doing those lovely things that can make us enjoy life.

What do other people in your hometown usually do on weekends?

I’m not sure but I assume ( presume ) they spend valuable time with their loved ones, probably eating out, going for a drive, or perhaps doing some exercise at the park. I’m sorry, I don’t exactly know how the people in my hometown make use of their free time on weekends as I’m not living in my hometown for several years now.

It’s common for the people in my hometown to indulge ( to allow oneself to enjoy the pleasure of something) in a shopping spree since our neighboring town is very commercialized ( profit-orientated ) – there are big shopping malls where people can shop. Not only that, there are several entertainment facilities like an amusement park where families can bond which can surely make their weekend more meaningful.

5 Creative Ways To Spend Your Labor Day Weekend

5 Creative Ways To Spend Your Labor Day Weekend

We love a long and restful weekend!

Although Labor Day weekend traditionally marks the unofficial end of summer in the United States, the holiday was created for Americans to observe the first Monday in September and celebrate the workers in the United States’ social and economic achievements.

The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century when labor activists pushed for a federal day off to recognize workers’ contributions to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. Many Americans leverage the holiday to improve their mental health and wellness and spend quality time with loved ones and family members. While I typically love to spend the holiday catching up on my rest, chores, and favorite television shows, I do think it’s essential to be able to switch up your habits and consider trying something new, like getting outside and soaking up nature.

Below are five creative things you can do for the upcoming holiday, solo or with loved ones.

Take a road trip: The three-day weekend is the perfect time to drive somewhere new. Have you been curious about the surrounding cities near your home? Drive there to explore. Or are you interested in going to a vineyard to do some wine tasting? Take some time to go on a long trip and discover new destinations and activities.

Get out and enjoy nature: So often, we’re cooped up in our homes and apartments, unable to breathe the fresh air or take in the beauty around us. Instead of binge-watching your favorite television shows or movies, get outside and explore some beautiful nature.

Go on a bike ride: It’s always beneficial for your mental health and body to exercise! But instead of going to your local gym or the one in your apartment, think of doing a nice bike ride around your city.

Enjoy the beach: There’s nothing better than a beach day with your girlfriends! Grab your girls, pack a lunch, bring the wine, and enjoy the sun at the beach. The beach, fresh air, and beautiful water will bring good times.

Explore Labor Day events in your city: If you’re in a major city, you’ll likely come across fun events, even if many businesses are closed. There will surely be fun events to help celebrate the end of the summer, like movie screenings and music festivals.

Rhymer Rigby

Roula Khalaf, Editor of the FT, selects her favourite stories in this weekly newsletter.

Recently, I was talking to a wealthy friend who was outlining his upcoming family holidays to me. What struck me was how every minute was accounted for.

Each day was crammed with activities: balloon rides, white water rafting, foodie extravaganzas and cultural excursions . . . It all seemed a bit contrived and rather hard work.

But, when I thought about it, it made sense. If you’re like my friend, your working days are probably like this — filled with productive activities, almost certainly organised by someone else. So why wouldn’t you expect a jam-packed vacation itinerary?

You’re wealthy enough to outsource the organisation and purchase high-status experiences. And you probably want your holiday to deliver measurable outputs (which you can post on Instagram in order to burnish your brand in the eyes of colleagues and similarly status-conscious friends).

A few years back, Philip Hancock, a professor at Essex Business School, talked to me about “ the professionalisation of everyday life ” — where people view leisure activities in the same way as work, with goals and performance indicators. It’s a phrase that has stuck with me — and this professional family holiday seemed very much along these lines.

Others take a similar view: in a recent interview with the New York-based website The Cut, Jaclyn Sienna India, who runs a members-only travel agency, said: “Many of [my clients] have had successful business careers that require them to delegate, so it’s easy for them to delegate in their personal life, too. And they treat their personal life like a business.”

But this sort of “productive holiday” isn’t the only kind. Some wealthy people prefer to do very little in luxury. I get this too. You work hard, you want to relax in opulence. Clay Cockrell, who runs Walk and Talk Therapy, a counselling service that focuses on very rich individuals, says: “Many wealthy people are constantly on the go. Not just work, but moving between multiple properties. By the time they go on holiday, they’re mentally exhausted.”

This is doubtless part of the attraction of places such as Richard Branson’s Necker Island, or the fly-in, fly-out holiday centres you find in places like Fiji, where you can spend about $200,000 a week to rent a private island. There are other draws to the hermetically sealed luxury of remote resorts, too.

“Large numbers of rich people are very, very private,” says Cockrell. “Many of them only want to associate with other wealthy people when on holiday.”

The reason for this, he explains, is that it’s easier to be with your tribe. “If you’re with other people in the same wealth bracket, you have the same interests and there’s no guilt about spending. You can all afford to do the same sort of thing.” There are degrees of this: you don’t have to go to private islands — you can also find it in places such as the Hamptons and the south of France.

But some wealthy people don’t want luxury at all. These are those who crave adventure . They might seek an exclusive high-end experience — such as visiting Antarctica or even outer space, as Jeff Bezos does. But often it’s really demanding challenges, like climbing Everest, running ultra-marathons or trekking across Borneo. There’s the physical toughness, and the status that comes with that. Not showering for two weeks and putting up your own tents as you walk across the Atacama Desert or the Mongolian steppe is a challenge — and a novelty.

Cockrell says another interesting trend he’s seeing is holidays with a very defined purpose. “You might visit all the wineries in a part of California or France, or follow a sports team. Many successful businesspeople are hyper-focused — and this sort of holiday appeals to them.”

For ordinary, middle-class “civilians”, the more regular holiday haunts of the wealthy can seem strange places. Many years ago, while I was backpacking with the woman who is now my wife, I met an academic on a flight from Papua New Guinea to Bali.

He did work that was funded by an American philanthropic foundation and was usually in some of the most remote regions on earth. But, when he wasn’t, the foundation tended to put him up in the kind of places where its rich patrons stayed. And so he invited the two of us for dinner in an ultra-luxe resort on an isolated stretch of coast on Bali.

When we arrived, I made suitably complimentary noises about the carefully curated luxury around me. He gave me a pained look. “Sure, it’s great,” he said. “Amazing. Wonderful. But I just want somewhere normal to hang out.”

I live in a big modern house with my parents in Badagry, a coastal town in Lagos State. The weekend falls on Saturday and Sundays. After five days of serious academic and extra-curricular activities at school, we are allowed to take some time off to relax and refresh ourselves during the weekend.

I always enjoy the weekends. This is because I always have enough time to do my all-time favourite activities during the time. At weekends, I wake to do my all-time favourite activities during the time. At weekends, I wake up very early. Every Saturday after enjoying a savory breakfast prepared by my mum, I would spend about twenty minutes doing my homework. Besides that, I would do some exercises to keep my body in good shape.

At about 4. 0’ clock in the evening, mother and I would go to the market to buy ingredients for dinner. I also help in the kitchen while she cooks. After having dinner at about 7 0’ clock at night, I watch TV and retire to bed at 9 0’clock. On Sunday after breakfast, we go to church. And after church we start preparing for Monday which marks the beginning of the working parts of the week.

I also play with my friends at weekends. My friends and I usually go out and make merry. Lizard hunting and cycling are our favorite activities.

We also play online games and have blast in the internet café.

Pupil’s Activity one (1): Read the example and pay attention.

Pupil’s Activity two (2): Write a composition about how you usually spend your weekends.

The weekend is always something interesting for me. I enjoy that period a lot. Spending five full days in school with lots homework pressure is difficult. That’s the reason why I try my best in order to enjoy the two days off. When I go to sleep on Friday night, I am feeling so much relief because I haven’t any alarm and I can rest as much as I want to.

“I enjoy with all a lot” is a sentence that describes how much he enjoys spending time with his family.

This weekend was very interesting because you visited your grandma, a zoo, and a church. You also had a lot of fun!

I’m going to be using this article as a reference for my English class. I’ll be writing an essay about how the author uses language to tell a story. I chose this because it tells me what kind of story it is.

The ad says that last week was great for him. He ate breakfast, he studied quickly, he finished his homework, he helped his mom prepare food, he looked after his sister, he played with his niece, he had a great time, and he enjoyed the day. Then he had tea and went for a ride. He said that it was so much fun, that he really enjoyed the day. He returned home, he was tired, and he went to sleep.

Ads are everywhere. They are even found in the books you read. You see them in newspapers, magazines, billboards, television, radio, movies, etc. In this story, ads are used as an example of how advertisements affect people.

Short paragraphs should be written in italics. This is an example of a short paragraph.

This ad is about a trip to an aunt’s house. The writer says he had a great time because he was with his family. He mentions that he helped prepare food and looked after his sister while she played. Then he talks about how he had a great time during the day. He ends the ad saying that he had a great time.

Making no nest, kangaroos sit where branches fork in a bush. Without a tail, kangaroos can’t find good balance like birds. Kangaroos eat only the leaves of eucalyptus trees which they like best. If all of their special food is eaten, kangaroos won’t look for food outside of their own area. They’ll stay where they are and die of hunger.

The weekend went well and I had loads of fun. I look forward to the upcoming weekends for more fun and entertainment. I want to relax myself from my daily homework’s and studies as well.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Topic: How would like to spend an ideal weekend

essay on how you spend your weekend

How would like to spend an ideal weekend Where would you spend the weekend? With whom with you spend it? How much money would you spend?

I am a very busy man these days. All my work is associated with interacting with different people and going to different places. If I ever get a chance to spend my ideal weekend I would most probably spend it at my house. I travel a lot and would not like to go to another place to spend my ideal weekend so I would stay at my house to spend my ideal weekend.

I would spend my ideal weekend with my cousins. I would order some burgers from Mc Donald’s and eat them at my house. I would also buy some DVDs and watch at least 4 to 5 movies in a day. I would like to spend in an isolated manner with just a few friends or family members. I want to tell you about my last weekend. I could regard it as my ideal weekend because I spent the weekend doing nothing rather than just watching movies and eating a lot of food. If I get a chance I would like to plan a similar kind of weekend pretty soon.

Some of my friends spend hundreds of dollars to plan and organize an ideal weekend but my ideal weekend can be organized in 50 dollars. I do not think that a person needs to spend a lot of money to make him or her happy. Some people spend a lot of money to organize their ideal weekend but they still feel unhappy and sad.

Short Paragraph on My Weekend (370 Words)

essay on how you spend your weekend

Here is your short paragraph on My Weekend !

Weekend is something I really look forward too. From the other busy five days of school, I really get rest and relax on weekends.

On Friday mornings I am so happy because I would have to get up early only for this one day and then sleep to my wish on weekends. Moreover, as a family we all could spent some time on weekends.

Last weekend was great for me. Saturday morning, after breakfast, my Mom announced that we would be visiting my aunt’s place for lunch. Hurray!! I was happy. So I did my homework’s very fast and completed them.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

My mother was busy preparing some food items and I helped her by looking after my little sister and playing with her. By afternoon, we took our baths and got ready to leave to my aunt’s house. Over there, we had a great time. My niece was also there and we kids played a lot. When it was time to serve lunch, my mom and aunt served lunch and we all had a great yummy lunch. After lunch, we fell asleep. By evening, we had our tea and went for a drive in the city. It was so much of fun, that we really enjoyed the day. Getting back home, we were tired and slept of early.

On Sunday morning, we went to the church and attended the masses. After church we came back home and then had our breakfasts. After clearing the dishes, I studied for some time and then relaxed watching my favorite cartoon shows.

After lunch, we all rested for some time and in the evening after tea and snack, my parents, me and my little sister went to a nearby park. We played for some time there and then took rest. Then we had a walk around the park and enjoyed the evening breeze. When it got dark, we came back home. After taking showers, we had our dinner and then after our evening prayers, we kids went to slept.

The weekend passed off with loads of fun and entertainment and I look forward to the next weekend for more fun and entertainment and to relax myself from the daily homework’s and studies.

7 Last-Minute Escapes for Labor Day Weekend

If you’re still hoping to stretch out the last days of summer, there are places in North America that are not too hot, not too crowded and not necessarily that far away.

A cityscape of buildings and narrow streets that leads to a tall tower on a hill. Behind it is a large bay with small islands and boats.

By Shannon Sims

It might sound like an impossible request: a last-minute Labor Day getaway with gorgeous weather and minimal crowds that you can squeeze into a long weekend. There are good reasons many destinations across North America won’t fit the bill. Wildfires are burning in some parts of the West, tropical disturbances are brewing in the Caribbean, the East Coast’s coastal retreats are packed, and much of the South is sweaty and oh so steamy. But if you’re still hoping to stretch out the last days of summer, there are places that are not too hot, not too crowded and not necessarily that far away.

Here are seven inspirations in North America for a Labor Day getaway.

North Carolina

Hike to magical waterfalls

Less than an hour’s drive from downtown Asheville, N.C., and covering 500,000-plus acres, Pisgah National Forest is a magical place to be immersed in nature. American goldfinches and Carolina chickadees sing high above waterfalls framed by lush green trees, and babbling streams pour down moss-covered rocks hiding salamanders, newts and crayfish.

During the summer, these wooded areas are chock-full of children at summer camp, and the trails are often busy with hikers. But by Labor Day, most of the kids have returned home, while the weather is often perfect, with average temperatures in the seventies. You have your pick of activities — bird-watching, fly fishing, waterfall dousing and hiking.

Easy trails can be found at the North Carolina Arboretum , but for a shaded, moderate hike to a waterfall in which you can douse, check out Catawba Falls Trail . For another moderate hike (but no swimming), there is Linville Gorge and Falls , nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the Southern Appalachians. Advanced hikers can summit the 6,684-foot Mount Mitchell , the highest peak in the Eastern United States, in Mount Mitchell State Park, which is surrounded by Pisgah Forest.

Later, make your way back to Asheville , where a robust restaurant and brewery scene offers a perfect setting for sharing stories of your day. Local favorites include Cúrate for upscale tapas, Chai Pani for Indian food and Wicked Weed Brewing for hoppy deliciousness.

The last weekend was really interesting because i did celebrate the b'day of my close friend.I planned the party for him along with my other friends so we reached at his place by 11:45 because we were thinking to give him a surprise so we rang the bell of his door exactly at 12 in the night to give him a surprise. He was really happy by our surprise and we could easily see that on his face, after cutting the cake at his place we went out for night out.We were doing fun till 5 A.M in the morning then we all dropped him at his place and came back to home. My last weekend was really fun and I enjoyed myself.Saturday morning my family planned to go to the beach for the day and i decided to call up a friend to go.I firstly went and pack my beach bag and get all the necessary stuff and my beach ball and sand buckets etc, when i was finished doing all of that I went and collect my friend and we went to the beach. My friend and I played many games like cricket, built sand castles, frisbee, sand hopscotch and many more.We swam and had loads of fun and we also did a swimming competition and she won. After all of that we went and ate some nice food, we also had music and danced alot and enjoyed ourselves. Then we went and changed to get ready to go home, it was sad because we had so much and we had to leave all of that to go home and we went and dropped her home and I had to prepare for next day . I really enjoyed my last weekend with my family and friend.
