Deep Rock Galactic has garnered a dedicated community that thrives on the challenges of its extreme missions. A recent post by Independent-Right reflects the mixed feelings players often have towards Hazard 5 missions, especially as they relate to new players jumping into the game’s toughest challenges without a plan. In this post, users share their experiences ranging from comic relief to outright frustration with some of the game’s more difficult scenarios. The sentiment around the post reveals a community that loves the game but is also keenly aware of the steep learning curve that new players face.

"It's an interesting life." by u/Independent-Right in DeepRockGalactic
  • Players express both frustration and humor regarding the challenges of high-level missions, particularly Hazard 5.
  • New players often feel overwhelmed and unprepared for the game’s more intense challenges.
  • There’s a strong community sense in offering advice and sharing experiences related to the game.
  • While there are serious moments, the overwhelming tone remains light-hearted and comedic.

Community Frustrations with New Players

The comments section quickly erupted with a mix of humor and exasperation regarding the level of preparedness new players bring to Hazard 5 missions. User Professional_Bank_22 humorously laments, “Lol, what have I started,” possibly in response to a new player who unwittingly joined a challenging mission as they were commencing their journey through the game’s depths. The feedback here illustrates that many veteran players have seen their fair share of inexperienced players enter high-stakes missions only to find themselves quickly out of their depth. User vote4some1else notes, “Bro I’m around lvl 350 and I can’t even go to haz 5,” highlighting just how difficult these missions can be, even for those who have significantly invested time into the game. The stark contrast between high-level players and newcomers seeking to prove themselves sets the stage for a roller coaster of emotions.

High-Level Mission Dynamics

Hazard 5 missions in Deep Rock Galactic provide a unique gameplay experience dictated by a dynamic mix of challenge and chaos. While they are exhilarating for seasoned players, they create a daunting situation for newcomers. As user Medusas_Kiss shares, having just started the game a week ago, they faced the “beyond lethal” assignment which proved to be an insurmountable challenge. Medusas_Kiss humorously quips, “I assumed that I would be ready, and dear Lord, I was and still am not ready 😅.” This sheer unpredictability can lead to hilarious moments where players scramble to adjust amidst frantic firefights against overwhelming odds. The players’ creative responses and anecdotes serve as a way for both veterans and newcomers to bond over their experiences in high-stakes situations.

Advice for New Players

It’s notable that many seasoned players are eager to share advice that they wish they had received when they first started playing Deep Rock Galactic. User crispymendowan offers sage advice: “Jokes aside, please don’t play as Scout if you’re a greenbeard in haz 5+.” This comment emphasizes the importance of role familiarity, especially at higher levels. New players might not realize the necessity of understanding not just individual class strengths but also cooperative dynamics. Another player, snatched_along, observes that Hazard 5 can feel drastically different based on the mission setup—”Either there’s like no bugs and it feels like Haz 3 or 4, or it’s the literal definition of hell, and everything will murder you in a matter of seconds.” This fluctuation keeps the game riveting, albeit challenging for novices. Incorporating practical advice while encouraging fun gameplay can help alleviate some of the initial tension new players feel.

The Lighthearted Side of Chaos

<pDespite the frustrations, there's still a strong undercurrent of humor that characterizes the community's interactions around Hazard 5 missions. Players seem to find solace and laughter in shared struggles, which helps to lighten the atmosphere. Commissarfluffybutt offers a comedic spin on the experience, stating, "Oh hey, welcome to Hell. This is what you're working to be ready for. Mind the nuclear detonations and the soon-to-be flaming goop." This perspective captures the spirit of the game perfectly; it possesses a chaotic charm that pulls players in and keeps them engaged even in seemingly insurmountable situations. It’s this interplay of humor and intensity that bonds players together as they navigate the mines, facing down waves of alien threats. At the core, players unify through their shared experiences, whether they're leveling up or diving headfirst into the chaos.

Maintaining a sense of community amid the difficulties is crucial for every player, be they seasoned veterans or eager newcomers. Deep Rock Galactic uniquely blends camaraderie and challenge, allowing players from all backgrounds to share laughs and insights while mining the depths of periodical mayhem. The perspectives shared in the subreddit echo a warm, humorous realism, advocating not just for skill but also for the resilience and enjoyment at the heart of the game. In a landscape filled with competition, it becomes evident that humor and shared experiences can pave the way for richer gameplay and tighter community bonds.

The Scout is one of the four playable dwarves of Deep Rock Galactic and one of the 9 playable classes in Team Fortress 2 .

As announced in the 2024 Pride Seasonal Events , Scout is nonbinary and goes by they/them pronouns. Scout is the only one of the Dwarves who is not cisgender.

Their primary weapon set consists of the Scattergun , the Pistol and the Bat while their secondaries consist of the Subata 120 , the Experimental Plasma Charger and the Colette Wave Cooker . They have the Reinforced Power Drills , the Satchel Charge and the "Mole" Armor Rig as their equipment and the Impact Axe , the High Explosive Grenade , the Neurotoxin Grenade and the Springloaded Ripper as their throwables .

As the Scout, you'll be equipped with a set of TITANIUM POWERDRILLS. Your job is to clear any blocked tunnels and obstacles in the path of your team, and in combat you are also a force to be reckoned with: Your drills make short work of most enemies up close, and for longer range engagements you are equipped with a heavy duty FLAMETHROWER.
— Class Description

The Scout can create stairways, pathways and clear obstacles for the team using their Reinforced Power Drills. While excellent at digging through terrain, the Reinforced Power Drills are able to mine minerals such as Gold and Nitra .

They are equipped to control large hordes of enemies using any of their primary weapons, which will incinerate, freeze, or melt their foes at close range. They also have a dependable Subata 120, Experimental Plasma Charger, or Colette Wave Cooker for longer range combat, as well as a destructive Satchel Charge for clearing rocks, bugs, or scouts.

The Scout also comes equipped with mini Biden Bots that periodically perform Biden Blasts, perfect for countering Glyphid Trumps.

The Scout has four throwables to pick from: the Impact Axe which is tossed and deals impact damage to enemies, the High Explosive Grenade which functions as a standard frag, the Neurotoxin Grenade which detonates in a cloud of toxic (and highly volatile) gas that explodes if ignited, and the Springloaded Ripper which, when tossed, will go in a straight line damaging enemies and looping on terrain if it forms a loop.

The Scout can choose from four different types of grenades: The Inhibitor-Field Generator (IFG) which slows enemies down and increases their damage taken, the Cryo Grenade which applies freeze and can potentially freeze most enemies instantly, the Pheromone Canister which covers enemies in pheromones, turning them into targets for other enemies to attack, and the Voltaic Stun Sweeper which attacks enemies up to 9 times, stunning them and applying electrocution.
