Overview [ ]

The Perk-a-Cola costs 2000 points and features a dark blue and purple color scheme, though primarily purple. Its icon displays a radiation trefoil emitting shock waves. PhD Flopper completely negates self-inflicted damage; however, the player will still groan and suffer temporary movement reduction when falling down from an elevated area. Another feature of this perk is that when players dive to prone from a height from which they would normally take damage, a 7.5 meter radius explosion is created upon landing.

The explosion is very powerful, with a maximum of 5000 damage at the center of the blast, and can kill zombies with one hit up to approximately round 20. Between rounds 20 to 30, PhD Flopper will begin to make crawlers, and on rounds beyond 30, zombies will retain their legs even in the center of the blast. The perk is made from prunes and some types of chemicals. However, as this is an explosive "weapon", it should be noted that the player only receives 50 points per kill, when opposed to the 60 points that are acquired by using a bullet firing weapon, so using a gun would be advised if the player is going to buy something, such as other Perk-a-Colas. This perk does not seem to work when diving right on top of multiple zombies. It should also be noted when "flopping" that landing on a prone player while diving to prone will cause both players to be downed instantly, so one should avoid other teammates while diving.

Due to the sliding move replacing the "Dolphin Dive" move, as well as the Danger Closest and Slaughter Slide GobbleGums which are similar effects to PhD Flopper, the perk is completely absent in Call of Duty: Black Ops III . In Ascension , Shangri-La , Moon , and Origins , it is replaced by Widow's Wine .

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III , PhD Flopper also negates the effects of fire, gas, and self-explosion damage, and no longer requires the player to dive from a height in order to trigger an explosion.

Appearance [ ]

The PhD Flopper machine is very thin, similar to that of Widow's Wine , and is covered in blood. It has a yellow paint job (which later changes to purple) on the front of the machine. There are four levers, from up to down, coloured red, green, white and purple. Under them, a bottle dispenser with a coffee cup in it can be seen. Under that, the words "Flopper PhD" can also be seen. On the top of the machine, the PhD Flopper shield can be seen, with several rods with yellow spheres stick out of it.

Call of Duty Online [ ]

PhD Flopper appears in Cyborg Rising mode of Call of Duty Online , translated as Armor Cola . It is exclusive to the character Sergeant , and is awarded to the player after surviving three rounds.

PhD Slider Zombies Perk: Everything You Need To Know

Slide into the undead!

what is the phd perk in zombies

Published: Oct 06, 2021, 11:06 Updated: Oct 07, 2021, 1:09

Season 6 of Black Ops Cold War is finally here, much to the excitement of the Zombies community that will be getting to grips with the brand-new Forsaken map , the fourth and final chapter of the Dark Aether storyline. As the battle between Requiem and Omega reaches its conclusion, Forsaken will contain a brand-new Easter Egg quest along with the return of a Perk long-time fans will be extremely familiar with.

An iteration of PhD Flopper is making its return in Season 6. Known as PhD Slider, the Perk enables players to slide into undead opposition to deal a bit of additional damage. Here's everything you need to know about PhD Slider, including all five Skill Tiers available to upgrade.

As with every Perk in Cold War Zombies, there are a total of five upgradable Skill Tiers that provide a range of additional benefits when the Perk has been purchased. Here are the Skill Tiers available for PhD Slider:

  • Skill Tier 1 - Immunity to environmental damage when sliding.
  • Skill Tier 2 - Increased slide duration.
  • Skill Tier 3 - Immunity to self-inflicted explosive damage.
  • Skill Tier 4 - Increased slide speed.
  • Skill Tier 5 - Falling from a large height will trigger an explosion, the size and damage will increase the higher you fall.

PhD Slider can be found at the very top of the map inside the Observation Tower. It's worth noting that you will take damage due to Aetherium Crystal radiation so be sure to grab it quickly before it's too late.

Perks in Zombies cost a few thousand Essence to purchase and considering the huge number of benefits they provide, they're one of the main items that players must buy in order to make it into the higher rounds. The cost of Perks increases by 500 Essence depending on how many you already have, meaning you could get your hands on PhD Slider for as little as 2500 Essence.

Considering Tier 3 of PhD Slider grants immunity to any explosive damage that you deal, it makes a lot of sense to purchase this Perk in order to escape any sticky situations that you may find yourself in. Stuck in a corner with no way out? Throw grenades at the floor to clear Zombies out of the way and live to fight for another round!

CoD Zombies fans rejoice as PhD Flopper’s return announced with a twist

CoD Zombies fans rejoice as PhD Flopper's return announced with a twist

Call of Duty Zombies fans have been begging Treyarch to bring back one thing over the past decade. And the devs have finally answered, announcing the return of the beloved perk PhD Flopper — but with a twist.

When Zombies was first released in World at War, there was a very limited amount of perks. It wasn’t until Black Ops that tons of new perks were introduced to the game.

An instant fan-favorite, PhD Flopper came with the map Ascension. This allowed players to take no explosive damage and dolphin dive to a less-elevated position to create an explosion.

However, after Black Ops, it never returned to Treyarch’s game as a purchasable perk… until now. PhD is finally back, but with a sliding twist.

Zombies famous PhD Flopper perk returns as PhD Slider

After nearly a decade of begging and praying for PhD to return to CoD Zombies, fans are finally getting their wish. The Zombies community is likely deli ghted as the perk is officially getting revamped and added to the game.

Treyarch announced that PhD Slider will be available on the new map Forsaken . However, in Cold War, players are not able to dive into the prone position, but instead slide, thus creating PhD Slider.

When it was teased in a Tweet, Zombies YouTuber, NoahJ456 said, “ NO SHOT LMFAOOOOOOOO.” Another person replied, “That’s what we were waiting for!” The comments go on and on, but everyone is excited about the return of PhD. So, here’s how it works.

How PhD Slider works in Black Ops Cold War

PhD Slider Zombies perk Season 6

PhD Slider is very similar to the original perk — but, instead of diving, a player needs to slide into a zombie or creature to trigger an explosion. The size of the impact and the amount of damage dealt depends on the distance the player slides before making contact with an enemy.

Much like other perks in Cold War, PhD Slider will have five tiers of upgrades, which have not been revealed at the time of writing. However, the devs did hint at one upgrade allowing you to trigger explosions when falling from a vertical distance.

The perk will have its own machine but can also be found in the Der Wunderfizz machine in all round-based maps and Outbreak.

Cold War Zombies Season 6: PhD Flopper will become PhD Slider - New Effects inbound

Will this perk even work with Black Ops Cold War's mechanics?

what is the phd perk in zombies

Published: Oct 05, 2021, 9:25 pm Updated: Oct 05, 2021, 9:35 pm

Season 6 will be the grand finale for Black Ops Cold War Zombies - and it's going out with a bang!

In Season 6 we'll be getting a new round-based Zombies map called "Forsaken", and there's a new Perk-a-Cola on the way as well!

Table of Contents

Latest: phd slider tier upgrades revealed, full reveal - phd flopper is phd slider, now, new perk teaser - phd flopper is coming, release date - when does the season 6 update drop.

Here's everything we know about PhD Slider, the new perk, and why it isn't called PhD Flopper anymore...

Treyarch have released the Season 6 patch notes for Black Ops Cold War , and with it comes some more information on the new PhD Slider Perk for Call of Duty Zombies.

Here are the new PhD Slider upgrades unlocked at each tier of the skill:

  • Base Ability - Sliding into enemies triggers an explosion. The size and damage increase the further you slide before impact
  • Skill Tier I - Immunity to environmental damage while sliding
  • Skill Tier II - Increased slide duration
  • Skill Tier III - Immunity to self-inflicted explosive damage
  • Skill Tier IV - Increased slide speed
  • Skill Tier V - Falling from a large height will trigger an explosion - the size and damage increases the higher you fall

As you upgrade PhD Slider it will become even more lethal, which will add a ton of fun to the new Zombies content coming in Season 6!

We were a bit confused when we saw PhD Flopper was due to return - because Black Ops Cold War doesn't have a diving mechanic - and now we know what the deal is.

PhD Flopper is being called PhD Slider from here on out. It'll work the same way, but just with sliding instead! Here's the basic effect of PhD Slider :

" Sliding into enemies triggers an explosion. The size and damage increase the farther you slide before impact."

PhD Flopper Perk Slider Woods

You will also be able to upgrade PhD Slider with Aetherium Crystals and unlock self-inflicted damage immunity and bigger explosions. More on that to come soon...

Ahead of an official announcement, Treyarch revealed the following "Twitter Voice" on their official Twitter channel. It's a short clip of some Perk Machine audio with the icon associated with Black Ops' PhD Flopper perk. You can check it out below:

A lot of people - and one account called DailyPhDFlopper - are excited to see this iconic perk make a return, however... It does raise a few questions on how it will work.

Black Ops Cold War doesn't have a "dive feature" - rather, you slide in Black Ops Cold War when you hold Crouch. We don't know whether this Perk will include a new "dive feature" just yet, but Treyarch should confirm how it works soon.

Traditionally, PhD Flopper is a perk that negates self-inflicted damage - mainly through explosions - and allows the player to "dive" to create a small explosion upon landing. Something to remove self-inflicted damage would be useful in Black Ops Cold War Zombies - but what about the diving?

Black Ops Cold War's new Zombies map is due to launch alongside the rest of Season 6's content at the following times:

  • 21:00 October 6th - PST
  • 23:00 October 6th - EST
  • 04:00 October 7th - BST

At the moment, we know that the new Zombies map is called "Forsaken" and that Alex Mason is set to be the Season 6 Battle Pass Operator . Warzone's Verdansk '84 is also going to undergo a few drastic changes ahead of Vanguard's release. You can see it all in the Cinematic Trailer below:

Cold War PhD Flopper perk teased for Forsaken Zombies map

Black Ops Cold War PhD Flopper Perk

Forsaken is the final round-based Zombies map added to the Black Ops Cold War in Season 6, and Treyarch Studios have officially teased the PhD Flopper perk will become available for players to use in this new undead experience.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies has been very successful over the past year, as players have enjoyed the maps and experiences the latest Call of Duty has offered.

The excitement in the Call of Duty Zombies community is once again at an extremely high level, as Treyarch Studios recently revealed that the Forsaken Zombies map will be coming in Black Ops Cold War Season 6 when it launches on October 7.

In addition to the name and release date of the new round-based Zombies map, Treyarch Studios has also teased that the PhD Flopper perk will be coming to Forsaken.

Black Ops Cold War PhD Flopper perk

Treyarch Studios took to its Twitter account on September 29, 2021, and posted a short video clip showcasing the logo of the PhD Flopper perk and a catchy jingle that appeared to be a theme song for the Cold War PhD Flopper perk.

In past games, this perk negated any damage that a player could inflict on themselves, which allowed players to go crazy with explosives and not worry about possibly eliminating themselves.

It also allowed players to create an explosion when they dove off a height that would typically damage them.

However, with the diving mechanic not in Black Ops Cold War, it remains to be seen if this feature of the Cold War PhD Flopper perk will be the same or if Treyarch Studios has made changes to this perk for the Forsaken map.

There is no doubt that many Call of Duty Zombies players will be very excited to test out the Cold War PhD Flopper perk and see what kind of action-packed fun they can get into in Season 6 of the first-person shooter.

what is the phd perk in zombies

October 07, 2021

Surviving “Forsaken” — A Guide to the Final Chapter of Call of Duty ® : Black Ops Cold War Zombies

In the final round-based map for Black Ops Cold War, the Requiem strike team travels to the heart of Omega Group’s operations. Read on for a layout of the new map plus tips and strategies when first starting out in “Forsaken.”

“The Forsaken is the key to Soviet Supremacy. He will be a great ally. He will bring the West to its knees.” — Colonel Lev Kravchenko

At the end of “Mauer der Toten,” the Requiem strike team barely escaped Berlin with their lives. As Kravchenko unloaded on them in a relentless attack, Samantha Maxis used her powers to open a portal, saving them at the last second. Now, enacting Operation First Domino, the Requiem team is teleporting to the heart of Omega Group’s operations deep in the U.S.S.R.

Their mission: Locate and secure Sergeant Kazimir Zykov before Kravchenko does. Zykov’s unparalleled knowledge about the Dark Aether, including how to defeat the Forsaken, is their best chance of ending this scourge at its source.

Available now in Season Six, “Forsaken” marks the epic conclusion of Black Ops Cold War Zombies, as Requiem attempts to end Omega Group and the threat of The Forsaken once and for all. It won’t be an easy task.

Staging Area

what is the phd perk in zombies

When first deploying to “Forsaken,” you’ll begin in the Staging Area outside the facility. A raging storm and an undead horde greet our Requiem agents, but there is hope. For starters, the power to the facility is already on. That means Perk Machines and Arsenals are active right away.

The bad news: there’s a security lockdown in effect, preventing certain doors and devices from operating. Get ready to go to work if you want to get any further.

The Staging Area is a small, fenced in enclosure housing vehicles, supplies, and a teleporter. We’ll get to that soon. You also have access to the Death Perception Perk Machine, two Pistol Wall Buys, an Arsenal, and a Crafting Table. If you’re looking for an extra challenge, activate the Rampage Inducer to instantly speed up zombie spawn rates and movement speeds. Finally, Ammo Caches are spread liberally throughout all the environments.

To enter the facility, you need to access the teleporter, but first you must activate the initiation sequence. Survive the inevitable attack as the system comes online, and then teleport away.

Before you head into the facility proper, you’ll have to get through the Checkpoint. Though the zone is fairly contained, you’ve got a bit more room to maneuver here, with staircases on either side leading up to a central rappel point. This is a great means for getting above the horde, and there are several drops if you need to get back down fast.

Consider spending some time here to boost your Essence and power up before moving on. Take a swig of Jugger-Nog and, for a powerful Secondary Weapon, pick up the nearby pump-action Shotgun Wall Buy. If you get trapped, you can always jump back through the portal to the Staging Area or head up the stairs and rappel down to Main Street.

Main Street

From the Checkpoint, you’ll gain a new objective: Get to the Observation Tower. That journey begins in earnest when you enter Main Street. Fight the undead in and around mock buildings for businesses like Beach Pizza, Radio House, and Surf Shack. Along Main Street, you’ll find the Tombstone Soda Perk Machine, an SMG Wall Buy, an Arsenal, and a Crafting Table.

There are two routes here leading up to the next teleporter. Open the right-hand door from the rappel point to access Storage Zone 5, as well as the Quick Revive Perk Machine and a Tactical Rifle Wall Buy.

Head to the left entrance by Beach Pizza to access Storage Zone 10, featuring the Stamin-Up Perk Machine and a powerful semi-auto Shotgun Wall Buy. Whichever direction you take leads up to the rooftops and the next teleporter. Open the necessary access points and move on to the center of the map: Anytown.

Anytown West

what is the phd perk in zombies

From Main Street, you’ll teleport onto the rooftops of the Video Store in Anytown West. Like Main Street, Anytown represents an idealized downtown district, complete with a Cinema, Video Store, Arcade, Burger Town, and other American enterprises.

Anytown is divided into two sections: Anytown West and Anytown East. At first, you’ve only got access to the western portion. When you come through the teleporter, check the wall diagram depicting the map layout – this shows how the various areas are connected by teleporters and will give you a better idea of how the layout fits together. Note the Assault Rifle Wall Buy up here as well.

Find an SMG Wall Buy just outside the Cinema, and weave in between the stranded vehicles as you take down zombies to accumulate more Essence. You’ll need it when you begin opening doors to the three new areas here: the Video Store and Arcade, the Cinema, and the TV Store.

Video Store and Arcade

By the time you hit up the Video Store and Arcade, you may be in need of some extra firepower. You’re in luck, because the Mule Kick Perk Machine will up your lethality exponentially with the addition of a third held weapon. There’s also another SMG Wall Buy here.

Head up the stairs here and open the rooftop pathway to gain access to Speed Cola and a Crafting Table. Nearby is a Sniper Rifle Wall Buy in a walkway leading to the rooftops of Anytown East.

Decked out with advertisements for The Red Army and another film with an eerily familiar name, the Cinema promises its mannequin attendees a glorious Soviet feature. For your purposes, there’s an Assault Rifle Wall Buy and a direct path to Anytown East through the snack bar. From here, you’ll have direct access across the street to the beloved Burger Town.

The last of the three areas, the TV Store offers the most direct route to Anytown East, passing right alongside the debris blocking the street outside. There’s a Tactical Rifle Wall Buy as well if you’re looking to deal precision damage.

Anytown East

what is the phd perk in zombies

Depending on where you enter Anytown East, you’ll either be fighting on its streets or from its rooftops. This area offers additional means of gaining power and, more importantly, gaining access to the Bunker Entrance.

Burger Town

Open up the iconic Burger Town restaurant to access Elemental Pop, offering a great boost to your weapons’ damage and utility. There’s also an Assault Rifle Wall Buy next to the machine. The pathway through Burger Town provides the perfect means for looping zombies in the area when you’ve got a growing train at your back.

Access the Bar and take a swig of Deadshot Daquiri to start popping off zombie heads with ease. Upstairs, you’ll find another handy Arsenal and LMG Wall Buy. When things get crazy, head to the upper balcony to find one of four ways to activate the Suspended Hind trap. For 2,000 Essence, the overhead chopper will open fire on nearby enemies for an extended period of time. Now that’s entertainment!

Fuel Processing

When you’re ready to head after Kravchenko and Dr. Peck, visit the Fuel Processing area and approach the teleporter. If you still need some extra firepower, consider grabbing the Tactical Rifle Wall Buy on your way in. When the teleporter refuses to work, Major Carver contacts the team with orders to search the area for repair parts to get it up and running again. Find the parts scattered throughout Anytown and then return to make your trip to the Bunker Entrance.

Bunker Entrance

Requiem gets ever closer to the heart of Omega’s operation with each step. With the facility on lockdown, there’s one blocked path for now, making this a straight shot past an SMG Wall Buy to the door that opens to the Amplifier and Particle Accelerator. Head there next.

Amplifier and Particle Accelerator

Stepping into this room, you’ll get a firsthand view of the lengths Omega Group is willing to go in order to exploit the Dark Aether for their own purposes. There’s no question about it: Requiem cannot fail in their task to secure Zykov and defeat The Forsaken.

This massive underground area offers an Assault Rifle Wall Buy, a Crafting Table, and an Arsenal. Now might be a good time to top off your Armor and potentially craft the new Hand Cannon Support Weapon. Once you feel properly equipped, head to the next teleporter. If you survive, you’ll head to the next location: the Observation Tower.

Observation Tower

The Observation Tower marks the final location covered in our intel. First up is the new PhD Slider Perk Machine, offering an explosive good time with every slide. The Trial Computer and Pack-a-Punch are also here to test your skills and boost your weapon damage. Most pertinent to you now, however, is the lockdown button.

Press the button to disengage the lockdown, opening further access to the map, including a teleporter that goes right back to the Staging Area. You’ll also notice two zipline points, one leading down to the Burger Town rooftop and the other over Main Street. Purchase the Sniper Rifle Wall Buy and start taking shots from up above… so long as you get out of there before the radiation kicks in.

The Search for Zykov Continues

what is the phd perk in zombies

“Oh, Requiem, isn’t it time to roll over and accept defeat like the dog you are? Zykov, and the Forsaken, belong to Mother Russia.” — Dr. Peck

The clock is ticking as Kravchenko and Dr. Peck attempt to get to Zykov and, through him, the Forsaken. If you’ve come this far, you might just prevent that from happening. Now it’s time to turn theory into practice.

Top Ten Tips for “Forsaken”

what is the phd perk in zombies

10. A Fast Start. The zombies come fast and furious once you step through the portal into the Staging Area. There’s no downtime between rounds here until you move on to Checkpoint through the first teleporter, so stick around and rack up some points, but get moving when the attack starts to overwhelm you.

9. Lockdown Initiated. With the undead and Requiem swarming on the Omega Complex, the facility has gone on lockdown to thwart the team’s efforts at securing Zykov. While some rappels and doors remain inaccessible until the lockdown is lifted, rest assured that your travel options open up once it is.

8. No Surprises. Vehicles and buildings are strewn across the Omega complex’s environments in such a way that a quick chug of Death Perception will lend a great boost to your awareness and survival. You’ll see the outlines of your enemies through cargo trucks and the Burger Town walls, so you’ll know exactly which way not to go.

7. Demolition Support. When you need a bigger bang, hit up a Crafting Table to construct the new Hand Cannon and ARC-XD Support Weapons. The Hand Cannon is great for blasting Special and Elite enemies, and the remote-controlled ARC-XD can fit through tight spaces en route to delivering its payload.

6. Play Games, Win Prizes. Take a stroll around the Arcade in Anytown West after collecting your first Arcade Token. You might be surprised what you find and, even better, what you leave with.

5. An Axe to Grind. Word is there’s a zombie-splitting Wonder Weapon that’s just perfect for chopping undead heads. Our agents haven’t yet discovered how to obtain it, but a lucky few gamblers just might get their hands on it from the Mystery Box or by completing Trials until other means are found.

4. Check Those Wall Buys. Remember that Wall Buy weapons have a chance of leveling up a tier at the end of every fifth round. With so many available throughout “Forsaken,” it’s worth periodically checking back on your favorites in case they’ve gone up in rarity.

3. Perks of the Board Room. Once the lockdown has been lifted, a new path opens up in the Bunker Entrance, leading to the Board Room. Should you fall and get back up again, swing by here to hit up Der Wunderfizz and stock back up on Perks.

2. Drop and Boom. With enough Aetherium Crystals invested, PhD Slider grants the ability to cause explosive damage when you fall. With all the rooftops and walkways here, you can cause a lot of damage that way, especially when paired with Stamin-Up’s immunity to fall damage at Tier II.

Black Ops 2 Zombies Guide: PhD Flopper Permaperk

Here’s how to get the PhD Flopper permaperk in the new Zombies map, Buried.

PhD Flopper is a permaperk that can only be attained in the new Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Buried. As a hidden permaperk, the only way to get it is to jump from a certain distance and take fall damage. It’s a recreation of the sort of perk that you’d pick up at the Perk-a-Cola dispenser.

Watch the video if you want to find out how to get the PhD Flopper. You’ll notice a green flash when you take fall damage.

As you may have already known, Buried is the new Zombies map that comes in the Vengeance DLC pack. You can take a look at the map, along with gameplay footage here .

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Vengeance is out today on the Xbox 360. It’ll be a month before it comes out on the PC and PlayStation 3 due to an exclusivity deal between Activision and Microsoft.

what is the phd perk in zombies

How to Get the PHD Flopper Schematic in MW3 Zombies

Image of Christian Bognar

The PHD Flopper is a helpful perk in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies that can deal with crowd control damage as it explodes and hits every enemy nearby. If you want to permanently unlock PHD Flopper and gain easy access to this powerful perk, you will want to find the Schematic.

This guide will walk you through how to get the PHD Flopper Schematic in MW3 Zombies, as there are specific steps one must take to unlock it officially.

Unlocking the PHD Flopper Schematic in MW3 Zombies

Players can get the PHD Flopper Schematic in MW3 Zombies by completing Contracts in a Tier 2 Zone . Completing contracts within these zones makes it possible for the PHD Flopper Schematic to appear as a reward, although it is not guaranteed.

If you complete a contract within a Tier 2 Zone and unfortunately don’t receive the PHD Flopper Schematic as a reward, then you’ll have to continue to complete contracts until you do. The good news is that it doesn’t matter which contract you complete; it’s just mandatory that it takes place within a Tier 2 Zone to unlock the PHD Flopper.

Best Contracts to Complete for Schematics

The best contracts to complete while trying to unlock a Schematic in a specific zone are the ones that take little time to complete . Focusing on short contracts will allow you to complete them in quick succession, increasing your chances of obtaining the Schematic in mind. The quickest contracts are Eliminate the Bounty, Outlast, and Deliver Cargo .

Related: How to Get Elemental Pop Schematic in MW3 Zombies

I recommend focusing on Deliver Cargo contracts as they’re the quickest to complete and relatively easy. The objective of the Deliver Cargo contract is to take an armored vehicle to a specific location, something that should take little time. The location is usually not far at all from where you accept the contract, meaning it’s a short drive.

Remember, make sure that the contract takes place within a Tier 2 Zone to create the chance of getting the PHD Flopper Schematic as a reward!

If you want to find other Schematics in MW3 Zombies, we have you covered with guides on the Attack of the Fanboy site. Check out our guides on how to get the Deadshot Daiquiri , Epic Aether Tool , and Speed Cola Schematics.

2000 points

For the perk's successor, see PhD Slider .

PhD Flopper is a Perk-a-Cola Machine that appears in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Nazi Zombies maps Ascension , Call of the Dead , Shangri-La ,  Moon , and secretly on Die Rise  and Mob of the Dead , as well as in Cell Block and  Origins  from the WunderFizz Machine . After the player buys the perk, all damage that the player could cause to themselves by explosives and fall damage is nullified. It completely removes splash damage, making the Ray Gun, Mustang & Sally, Matryoshka Dolls or any explosive good for getting out of tight situations, and adds a miniature explosion whenever a player with the perk dives to prone. However, the explosion only occurs if you dive high enough that you would normally recieve fall damage. It instantly kills all zombies within the small radius of the explosion in the earlier rounds and makes crawlers in the later rounds. Any kill you get from the explosion is only 50 points like all the other explosives.

A Persistent Upgrade on Buried is based off of PhD Flopper, excluding the negating effects of fall damage and overcooked grenades.

Due to the Sliding move replacing the "Dolphin Dive" move in Black Ops III , the perk is completley absent. Substitute Gobblegums serve as replacements, which are Danger Closest, and Slaughter Slide. In the Black Ops III version of Ascension , Shangri-La , Moon , and Origins , it was replaced by Widow's Wine . The perk would later return in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

(PhD) Like the chorus of a song. (PhD) Not short but not too long. Slap your body to the floor, everybody needs some more, of your lovin', your explosive lovin'. • According to the players, PhD Flopper taste like Prunes and Chemicals.
  • Takeo is allergic to prunes, making this his least favorite perk
  • In the Die Rise map on Black Ops 2, PhD Flopper is secretly located on the 3rd level when going down the broken cargo elevator (at the beginning). It is physicaly impossible for the player to get to it because there is an invisible barrier around it. It is easier to see this perk machine when going into theater mode going on free camera.
  • PhD Flopper makes it return into Black Ops 2 Zombies, in the map Mob of the Dead . As well as appearing by the docks, it is available for purchase in Cell Block , Grief for 2000 points.
  • It is a play on the soda Dr. Pepper.
  • The jingle is not heard at all in Black Ops II , as the machine is only present on Cell Block, where all the Perk Machines have distorted jingles.
  • The radius of the explosion is listed as "300" while the minimum damage is 1000, maximum damage is 5000.

Perks are an essential part of any Call of Duty Zombie game, even the classic ones . Magical drinks such as Juggernog, Speed Cola, Stamin-Up, and many more have been slowly added in with each addition to the franchise, each one giving the player character some brand new power or ability. This, among a few other features, is what really separated Call of Duty's Zombies mode from all other Zombies media.

So, let's go over all the Perks introduced in the Black Ops line of Zombies games specifically, and rank them all from worst to best.

Updated April 4th, 2023 by Jacob Buchalter: With how much Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War switched things up with the standard zombies' formula only to have CoD: Vanguard completely ruin everything it had built up, it seemed like an apt time to look back again. Perks in these games are basically the 'superpowers' the player characters gain over the course of a survival attempt, and each one has its own completely unique effects. So, let's take another look through all the ones introduced in the Black Ops games while waiting for Call of Duty 2024 to see if the rankings have changed at all.

14 Who's Who

Call of Duty - Who's Who Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

2000

When downed, players spawn nearby as a 'doppelganger' and must go and revive their bodies to come back up with everything but the Who's Who Perk.

Who's Who was added exclusively to the Die Rise map in Black Ops 2, and, luckily, that's where it stayed. It was a useful perk, giving the players the ability to revive themselves within a certain time limit. This worked by having players spawn as their very own doppelganger (which has strong Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man vibes ), which was hilarious. However, mechanically it was essentially like having a worse version of Quick Revive.

The developers tried to bring it back in a way with how Tombstone Soda worked in Cold War , but even then fans were less than thrilled with the results, especially while the Perk was un-upgraded.

13 Tombstone Soda

Call of Duty - Tombstone Soda Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Game Name

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

Black Ops II

2500 Pts

Players could 'die' early and would then have 90 seconds at the start of the next round to return to their death location and grab their tombstone with all their Perks and weapons.

Black Ops Cold War

2500-7000 Pts

Functioned like a mix between Who's Who and Tombstone. Players could choose to instantly respawn when downed as a 'Dark Aether' version of themselves and would then have to make it to where their body was currently downed before it bled out and revive it.

Tombstone Soda was only featured in the Green Run section of the TranZit map and didn't return again until Cold War , as the Aftertaste Gobblegum did mostly the same thing. In Black Ops II , players could choose to end themselves early while down, they would then 'respawn' the next round and had about 90 seconds to go and interact with their tombstone left at the place they died. If they made it to the tombstone in time, they would get back all their Perks and Weapons from before they went down , except for Tombstone itself. If they didn't make it in time, then the tombstone would dissapear forever.

Tombstone Soda has since been reworked in the new Black Ops Cold War game, among many other things , and is better than it used to be. While still not the most amazing perk, it acts more like Who's Who . When players get downed with this Perk they reappear as an ethereal Dark Aether ghost ( don't ask it's confusing ) and are able to run over to their body and revive themselves. Thanks to the upgrade system in the new game, players can use Aetherium Crystals to upgrade their Perks up to Tier 5, with each Tier granting new benefits such as increasing the time a player is 'down' or preventing the loss of any Perks except for Tombstone Soda when downed, as long as they had Tombstone Soda activated.

12 Stamin-Up Soda

Call of Duty - Stamin-Up Soda Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Game Name

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

Black Ops - Black Ops III

2000 Pts

Increases Sprint Endurance and Sprint Speed. Stamina also regenerates faster.

Black Ops Cold War

2500-7000 Pts

At the base level, increases basic run and sprinting speed. Tier upgrades would then increase backpedal speed, give fall damage immunity, faster ADS walking speed, the ability to use Equipment while running, and finally it removes the sprint speed fall off entirely.

Stamin-Up Soda was first introduced in Ascension in Black Ops and in that game as well as Black Ops II and III , it increases general sprinting endurance as well as the overall sprinting speed. While it didn't provide any offensive benefit, many players loved this Perk since it just made it more enjoyable to use heavy weapons or get around in the first place.

Stamin-Up was then 'upgraded' in Cold War with its introduction of the Tier system . Now, players who fully invest in the Stamin-Up Perk Tiers using Aetherium Crystals will get much more than just a simple running speed buff.

11 Deadshot Daiquiri

Call of Duty - Deadshot Daiquiri Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Game Name

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

Black Ops - Black Ops III

1500 Pts (1000 Pts on PC )

Removes scope sway as well as reduces recoil and increases hip-fire accuracy. Additionally, this Perk will 'snap' the auto-aim sight to the Zombie's critical areas when ADS'ing rather than their torso.

Black Ops Cold War

2500-7000 Pts

By default, removes scope sway and adds a 'snapping effect' while ADS, making headshots easier. Tier upgrades would then add extra critical damage on full-health enemies, extra armor damage, reduced hip-fire spread, increased critical damage overall, and a ramping buff per consecutive shot hit on the same enemy.

Deadshot Daiquiri was introduced in the Call of the Dead map in Black Ops and has since found itself in almost every Zombies map thanks to the Wunderfizz machine. Though this perk offers tons of aiming benefits, it doesn't quite live up to the rest of the Perks due to the massive increase in PC-only players over time. The intention with the Perk was to make the 'auto-aim' snap to the Zombie's head instead of their torso and reduce weapon sway, but most players hated having their aiming control ripped away from them.

RELATED: The Best Multiplayer RPGs Of All Time (April 2023)

Deadshot Daquiri received a much-needed upgrade in Cold War . While it still moves the player's sight to the critical spot of an enemy, it has other upgrades that are worthwhile to get. These upgrades range from simply dealing more critical damage against full-health enemies to a 2 percent ramping extra damage buff for every consecutive hit against the same enemy, capping at 20 percent overall. This last effect especially made a big difference in Cold War , at least against some of the more threatening enemies .

10 Vulture Aid Elixir

Call of Duty - Vulture Aid Elixir Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

3000 Pts

With Vulture Aid active:

Vulture Aid Elixir is one of the few Perks with multiple effects as well as one of the few Perks to only appear in one game, which was Black Ops III (one of the most beloved CoD games out there ). The Perk's effects were pretty minimal on their own, but when considered all together, they made Vulture Aid a pretty hard Perk to ignore.

With this Perk, players could see Perk Machines, Wall Weapons, the Pack-a-Punch machine, and the Mystery Box through walls when relatively close to them. Additionally, it added a bunch of new effects to Zombies, such as the chance to drop ammo packs on death and the green gas cloud that appeared from rare Zombie corpses that players could stand in to briefly to gain a short buff that caused Zombies to ignore them.

9 Ph.D. Flopper & Ph.D. Slider

Call of Duty - PHD Flopper/Slider Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Game Name

Perk Name

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

Black Ops-Black Ops II

PhD Flopper

2000 Pts

Gave players complete immunity to all explosive and falling damage and also gave them an explosive AoE when they performed a 'dolphin dive'.

Black Ops Cold War

PhD Slider Soda

4000 Pts

Sliding into enemies allows the player to create an explosive burst of energy on impact. required players to slide and build up this explosive charge, while did not.

The PhD Flopper Perk was first introduced alongside the Stamin-Up perk in Black Ops' Ascension map . When bought, PhD Flopper nullified all self-inflicted damage as well as it would create an explosion around the player if they dolphin dove off a height that would normally damage them. And, don't be mistaken in thinking this explosion isn't worth it, as it could deal thousands of damage in its epicenter and was enough to one-shot any Zombies hit by enough of it up until around Round 20.

While a version of it appeared in Black Ops 4 and was given a new name as PhD Slider, the Perk didn't really make a full return until Cold War when it came back in the Season Six content update. In Cold War, PhD Slider would create explosions if the player slid into an enemy with the size and damage being dependent on the distance they slid. With the Tier 1-Tier 5 upgrades, PhD Slider would also grant immunity to environmental damage while sliding, grant a longer slide duration, an immunity to self-inflicted damage, increased slide speed, and would grant the effects of PhD Flopper when falling (minus the dolphin diving aspect).

8 Electric Cherry

Call of Duty - Electric Cherry Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

2000 Pts

Reloading surrounds the player with an electric effect, damaging nearby Zombies and briefly stunning them. Damage and radius are increased the lower the magazine is when reloading.

Electric Cherry was first introduced in Mob of the Dead, AKA the second Black Ops II DLC pack. This offered a new way for players to protect themselves against the Zombies and made reloading much safer. Basically, at the end of a reload, the player with Electric Cherry expels a radius of electricity that damages and stops nearby Zombies in their tracks. And, players could even actively decide how much damage this would do or how large of a radius it would affect.

This decision simply relied on how low their magazine was when they started the reload, as the lower it was, the higher the damage and radius of the electricity.

7 Double Tap & Double Tap II Root Beer

Call of Duty - Double Tap Root Beer Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Game Name

Perk Name

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

Black Ops

Double Tap Root Beer

2000 Pts

Increases fire rate of all 'bullet' weapons by 33 percent, as well as Bouncing Betty speed.

Black Ops II - Black Ops III

Double Tap Root Beer II

2000 Pts

Increases the rate of fire but also shoots two bullets for every one round, essentially doubling damage output. This effect only applies to weapons that use bullets, however, so none of benefitted from it.

Double Tap Root Beer technically has two different versions, the second of which first appeared in Black Ops II . The original version of this, otherwise known as the 1.0 version, was a bit of a double-edged sword. It increased the rate of fire, sure, but the Bouncing Betty speed increase was dangerous, and when weapons were Pack-a-Punched the rate of fire was almost too fast to handle.

Thankfully the Perk was changed from Black Ops II onward, giving it a rate of fire buff as well as the ability to fire two shots for every one round, which made weapons deal double damage if both bullets hit.

6 Quick Revive

Call of Duty - Quick Revive Beer Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Game Name

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

Black Ops - Black Ops III

1500 Pts

Faster health regeneration rate, less time before health regeneration triggers, and reduces the time required to revive allies. From Black Ops onward, in solo, this Perk can also be purchased before the power is on and allows the player to revive themselves when downed at the expense of losing the Perk.

Black Ops Cold War

2500-7000 Pts

Improved health regen rate and ally revive speed. At Tier 1 it increases downed movement speed, Tier 2 reduces time before health regeneration starts, Tier 3 refills the player's health when they revive an ally, Tier 4 gives both the player and their revived ally a short movement speed buff, and Tier 5 lets players kill an enemy while downed to revive themselves and lose Quick Revive.

Quick Revive is among the highest of essentials for any solo Zombies player. When playing solo, this perk allows the player to get auto-revived if they go down . This changes depending on the map, though, and it can only be used three times before the machine disappears. When playing multiplayer, this Perk doesn't have the self-revive effect but instead massively increases the speed at which players revive their allies.

RELATED: Dead By Daylight: Every Killer, Ranked

Quick Revive got an upgrade of its own in Cold War and has a whole slew of additional support-like effects based on the Tier level. At max upgrades, Quick Revive increases health regen rate, health regen kicks in faster, allies are revived faster, grants a heal to players that revive allies as well as a movement speed buff to both the player and their ally, and even gives players the ability to kill an enemy to revive themselves at the cost of losing Quick Revive.

5 Elemental Pop

Call of Duty - Elemental Pop Beer Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

2500-7000 Pts

Every bullet fired has a chance to apply a basic Ammo Mod elemental effect, those being or Tier 1 Equipment Damage also has this same Ammo Mod application chance, Tier 2 reduces Ammo Mod cooldowns by 20 percent, Tier 3 uses the player's Ammo Mod upgrades when applying the affect, Tier 4 increases enemy elemental weakness by 50 percent, and Tier 5 gives players an effect that perfectly mirrors the effects of Electric Cherry.

Elemental Pop is the newest perk to grace Black Ops Zombies and is one of the only examples on here of a Perk that debuted in Cold War . At a base level, this Perk just gives a player's bullets the chance to apply basic Ammo Mod effects on-hit.

And, for anyone familiar with the Ammo Mod effects in Cold War , this can range from making enemies explode to turning them against each other. When fully upgraded, both bullets and Equipment have this Ammo Mod application chance, Ammo Mods cooldown quicker, the player's upgrade levels for their Ammo Mods are applied to these effects, enemies are weaker to elemental effects, and players also get Electric Cherry (though it isn't a separate perk).

4 Widow's Wine

Call of Duty - Widow's Wine Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect(s)

4000 Pts

This Perk has 4 overall 'effects':

Widow's Wine is one of the most essential Perks in Black Ops III, as it drastically increases a player's chances of survival. Plus, it's the only game in which this Perk appears. When obtained, this Perk changes the grenades a player is carrying into sticky grenades that shoot out webs, which slow zombies down. It also protects the player with the same effect.

Assuming the player has enough grenades in reserve, an attacking zombie will be immobilized by a sudden burst of webs. Like the grenades, this effect slows the zombies down and gives the player more time to escape. Not only that, but this Perk also increases the damage of the knife as well as gives it a chance to apply this webbed effect to enemies on-hit. Sadly, it only ever appeared in one game and was one of the rare Perks that didn't show up in Black Ops Cold War.

3 Mule Kick

Call of Duty - Mule Kick Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Game Name

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

Black Ops - Black Ops III

4000 Pts

Allows an additional weapon to be carried, for a total of three. The most recently purchased weapon will be lost when downed.

Black Ops Cold War

2500-7000 Pts

At the base level, players can now carry a third weapon. Afterward, Tier 1 gives more Equipment when it's crafted, Tier 2 gives all enemies a chance to drop ammo on death, Tier 3 passively reloads stowed weapons, Tier 4 grants a 25 percent chance to not 'consume' Equipment when used, and Tier 5 allows players to re-obtain their lost third weapon if they re-buy Mule Kick.

Mule Kick was another welcome addition to the Zombies mode when it was introduced in Moon in the original Black Ops . It became so popular among the fans that Treyarch featured it in all maps after Moon, and included it in the Zombies Chronicles DLC for Black Ops 3 . This Perk is simple, it increases the number of weapons a player can carry by one. Adding the ability to carry another weapon is a must-have for players hoping to make it to high rounds, in which ammo can often run dry very quickly.

In Cold War , Mule Kick pretty much functions the same, but every Tier upgrade adds additional 'extra' benefits. With it fully upgraded, players will have a third weapon slot, more crafted Equipment, a chance to get ammo from Zombie corpses, a passive stowed weapon reloading ability, a chance for extra Equipment uses, and the ability to get back weapons that were lost when Mule Kick was lost.

2 Speed Cola

Call of Duty - Speed Cola Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Game Name

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

Black Ops - Black Ops III

3000 Pts

Increases reload speed by 50 percent and massively increases the speed at which players can rebuild barriers.

Black Ops Cold War

2500-7000 Pts

By default, Speed Cola increases reload speed by 15 percent. Tier 1's upgrade gives it the benefit of increasing weapon swap speed, Tier 2 increases Field Upgrade recharge rate by 20 percent, and Tier 3 reload speed is buffed by 30 percent. For the final two upgrades, Tier 4 gives the barrier repair speed buff while also settle on a weapon faster, and Tier 5 can both fire and reload while sprinting.

Speed Cola is another perk that is hard to imagine a Zombie game without. Another of the original perks included in World at War , it has since been included in just about every Treyarch-developed Zombies map. For its effect, Speed Cola simply speeds up reload and barrier-repair speeds.

And, as with all the other Perks of Cold War , Speed Cola works a bit differently. The initial reload speed buff is noticeable but not nearly as good, and it isn't until players get the Perk to Tier 3 that it really starts to shine again. With all upgrades, Speed Cola buffs reload speeds, barrier repair speeds, Field Upgrade recharge speeds, weapon swap speeds, Mystery Box speeds, and gives players the ability to fire and reload while sprinting.

1 Juggernog

Call of Duty - Juggernog Perk Machine With PNG Of Machine And Logo On Top

Game Name

Perk Cost

Basic Perk Effect

Black Ops - Black Ops III

2500 Pts

Increases player health, which allows them to take more hits from zombies before getting 'downed'.

Black Ops Cold War

2500-7000 Pts

By default, increases player health by 50. With upgrades, Tier 1 adds a status effect reduction buff, Tier 2 increases how much Armor the Armor Plates replenish, Tier 3 increases Health by another 100, Tier 4 gives the player 25 percent more Armor durability, and Tier 5 players will survive a lethal hit with 1 HP and 0 Armor.

Juggernog has been the lifeline for many players in their Zombies careers, and that influence won't stop anytime soon . This is the most useful Perk, hands-down, and one of the originals in nearly every Zombies map out there, This perk doubles the number of hits a player can take before going down. No player would be caught dead without this perk — or, to rephrase, if they don't have the perk, they probably will be caught dead.

In Cold War , Juggernog isn't quite as strong right off the bat, due to the upgrade system this game introduces. But, with even the first Tier 1 upgrade, it becomes so much better. And, at Tier 5, Juggernog somehow becomes even more useful than it already has always been.

Is PhD Flopper ACTUALLY a good perk or is it all just nostalgia?

I'd happily say that PhD Flopper is a decent perk, especially on BO1 Ascension, however outside of that I personally believe it is pretty pointless.

PHD Flopper in MW3 Zombies by u/Shock_the_Core in CODZombies

Get the PHD Flopper for free in MW3 with our top two methods

The PHD Flopper is a perk that grants immunity to fall damage and a special explosion when the player dives to prone. Diving to prone triggers an explosion that scales with the height of the jump. Want to minimize the time and effort for getting the PHD Flopper explosions? A free perk is a rather tempting proposition, especially since this will allow you to focus on tougher missions and contracts. Read on for our two methods of obtaining this item for free:

  • Craft a PHD Flopper with its Schematic for free – Some contracts or mission rewards can offer you the PHD Flopepr Schematic. Exfil with this reward and you’ll be able to create it before your next Zombies playthrough. Just remember that doing so starts a cooldown, ensuring that you can’t spam this ability.
  • Jump into the pool from the Shahin Manor roof to get this perk – This secret location lets you get the PHD Flopper perk for free. Jump into the pool near Mister Peeks and you’ll activate a Reward Rift with this perk.

PHD Flopper’s damage scales with the height of the jump

Diving into prone from tall buildings let you deal even more damage to enemies. Use this against armored zombies and mercenaries.

Find the PHD Flopper in Modern Warfare 3 in three ways

In MW3 Zombies, the PHD Flopper can be found in loot caches, Reward Rifts after contracts, and from vendors scattered across the map. Here’s a clearer explanation of how to get the PHD Flopper in MW3 Zombies:

  • Purchase it from a perk machine vendor for 2000 Essence – On the Tac Map, look for a nuclear sign. Hover over it and you’ll be able to check which perk this vendor sells. Find one that sells the PHD Flopper, head over there, and purchase it. Remember to exfil in MW3 Zombies if you want to use this perk later on.
  • Find a contract that offers the PHD Flopper as a reward – As you complete contracts in the MW3 Zombies map, you gain powerful rewards. Look out for higher-value contracts for a chance at this perk.
  • Get the PHD Flopper perk from a loot cache – The odds of this are pretty rare but some loot caches offer access to perks. Mercenary Caches can be found in Mercenary Stronghold scattered around the map. You can also find caches in Aether Nests. One particularly rewarding activity is destroying the mercenary convoy in MW3 Zombies .

Is the PHD Flopper worth the effort and how to maximise its potential

While it can take a while to acquire this perk, the explosions triggered by diving to prone is a great offensive tool. There’s a trick to making the most of it. Sure, you can just dive to prone wherever you are in earlier threat levels. But later on, zombies gain more health.

In that case, you can still clear large waves of enemy forces just by diving from tall buildings. This is because the damage you trigger is scaled to the height that you jump from. And don’t worry about dying from a steep fall as this perk grants immunity to fall damage.

That covers the PHD Flopper in MW3 Zombies. Check out our best MW3 loadouts if you want more straightforward paths to success in Call of Duty’s multiplayer lobbies. And if you’re considering an expensive upgrade, check if the MW3 Vault Edition is worth it .

Is the PHD Flopper good in MW3 Zombies?

The PHD Flopper’s explosions are a good situational tool.

Can you purchase any perk from a vendor in MW3 Zombies?

No, a vendor will only offer one perk picked at random.

I Played Genshin Impact 5.0 For Two Hours & Natlan Will Change The Game For Good

Nintendo confirms a new animal crossing is in development but there's a catch, how to beat black wind king boss in black myth: wukong (chapter 1).

Following Black Ops III 's DLC season and the unexpected release of Zombies Chronicles , hopes were high regarding Treyarch's Black Ops 4 . Apparently poised to be the ultimate experience for fans of Call of Duty' s longtime staple horde mode, Black Ops 4 zombies deviated drastically from the established formula to the disappointment of many dedicated fans.

RELATED:  10 Best Call Of Duty Campaigns In Franchise History, Ranked

One of the most controversial changes was the removal of the Jugger-Nog perk, which had been a mainstay of the mode since World At War . In fact, the perk system was considerably overhauled, and, while some new perks fell completely flat, others turned out to be surprisingly useful.

Updated on September 7th, 2021 by Tanner Fox:  While Black Ops 4 attempted to take zombies in a bold new direction, many players found the new maps to be too big, the new systems to be too complicated, and the over-the-top Easter eggs to be needlessly complex. Cold War reversed this trend, making the mode much more approachable for new players.

That said, Black Ops 4 hasn't been entirely forgotten by CoD fans, and, with perks from the fourth installment of Call of Duty's Black Ops subseries recently appearing in Cold War, it may be worth brushing up on some of the 2018 game's best additions.

Death Perception

The Death Perception Perk in Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

Added to Cold War midway through the game's lifecycle, Death Perception was first made available after the 2018 launch of Black Ops 4 . Discredited by many fans, it's by no means a vital perk, but it can provide a small boost for newer players unfamiliar with Call of Duty 's maps .

Death Perception allows players to see the outlines of zombies through walls and will provide HUD indicators of approaching enemies. It's a helpful—if not somewhat superfluous—perk, but most Black Ops 4 players wouldn't sacrifice one of their four perk slots for it.

Blaze Phase

Logo for the Blaze Phase perk from Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

Released alongside Tag Der Toten, the final DLC offering developed for Black Ops 4 , Blaze Phase is something of a combination between PhD Flopper and Trail Blazers from Infinite Warfare 's zombies mode. After crouching for a period with the perk active, the player will be catapulted forward after standing up, knocking over anything in their way.

The modifier extends the distance covered when the perk is used, and, while it can be useful in desperate situations, in the eyes of many zombies fans, Blaze Phase just doesn't cut it.

The PhD Slider Perk logo from Call of Duty Black Ops 4's zombies mode.

Touted as a return of sorts of the fan-favorite perk PhD Flopper perk which initially debuted in the original Black Ops, PhD Slider is a reworked perk meant to act similarly to the original while accommodating the game's new style of movement.

Players with PhD Slider can build an explosive charge by sliding several times and then detonate it by sliding into a zombie. When in the modifier slot, the perk increases slide distance, explosive power, and provides immunity to traps while sliding. Though somewhat useful, the fact that it must be charged up before use makes it a relatively underwhelming take on the original.

Victorious Tortise

what is the phd perk in zombies

At a glance, Black Ops 4 's Victorious Tortise perk doesn't seem all that useful; it causes a player's shield to absorb all damage when wielded and to explode when broken. Though it can come in handy when cornered, it isn't all that useful most of the time.

However, the modifier allows players to knock down boss zombies with the shield, and this can be indispensable in tough situations. Though it doesn't happen all that often, and, of course, it requires a shield, Victorious Tortise's modifier can allow players to escape from otherwise inescapable situations.

Blood Wolf Bite

Logo for the Black Ops 4 zombies perk Blood Wolf Bite.

Perhaps one of the most creative perks ever introduced to the zombies mode, when players do a significant amount of damage to a pack of zombies, a wolf familiar will spawn and attack enemies for a period of 45 seconds. It's an interesting concept, and it certainly looks cool, but it's not quite as practical as some of Black Ops 4's other perk offerings.

When placed in the modifier slot, zombies killed by the player's wolf will drop unique power-ups. Yet, those looking to make impromptu allies are better off applying the Brain Rot weapon modifier to a pack-a-punched gun.

Mule Kick logo from Call of Duty Black Ops 4's zombies mode.

First introduced on Moon, the original Black Ops ' final all-new DLC map, Mule Kick was something of a controversial inclusion as, helpful though it could be, it asked players to risk quite a bit, allowing them to purchase and upgrade weapons they could potentially permanently lose. Plus, swapping through three separate guns could be a bit cumbersome.

RELATED:  10 Best Zombies Maps In The Call Of Duty Black Ops Series, Ranked

However, while it still isn't perfect, Mule Kick's modifier in Black Ops 4 makes it much more useful, as downed players with this perk in their modifier slot receive their lost weapon when they re-buy the perk. That said, it's far from Black Ops 4 's most conventional perk offering.

Electric Burst

The Electric Burst perk logo in Black Ops 4's zombies mode.

Essentially a modified version of Electric Cherry which was introduced in Black Ops II's fan-favorite Mob of the Dead DLC map, Electric burst sends out a shockwave when players reload, stunning zombies and inflecting varying levels of damage based on how empty the weapon's magazine was.

The modifier applies this effect to the player's melee weapon; energy is stored with each reload and can be unleashed with a melee attack which can chain to other zombies. Though a nice passive effect, Electric Burst isn't quite as beloved as the perk on which it was based.

Ethereal Razor

The logo for the Ethereal Razor perk in Black Ops 4.

Introduced after the game's launch, Ethereal Razor is another situational perk. It allows players to use melee attacks to gain health, though this is a fairly risky prospect. However, this perk is doubly useful when used in the modifier slot, as it causes all melee attacks to be lethal to standard zombies, and it increases the damage of melee attacks against larger targets.

For savvy players, Ethereal Razor can be a get-out-of-jail-free card, but, without the modifier applied, it isn't nearly as useful as most of the game's other perks.

Black Ops 4's Timeslip perk symbol.

One of the many all-new perks introduced to Black Ops 4 , Timeslip reduced the cooldown rate of equipment and made the box and pack-a-punch machines operate more quickly. When paired with Wraithfire, Black Ops 4 's most prominent piece of extraneous weaponry, timeslip can be undoubtedly effective.

Plus, when used in the modifier slot, Timeslip increases the rate at which special weapons charge, which can, in some scenarios, be lifesaving. Of course, useful as it can be, more traditional zombie players who dislike relying on things like special weapons and overpowered equipment may not be inclined to add it to their perk repertoire.

Stone Cold Stronghold

Logo for the Stone Cold Stronghold perk in Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

A camper's dream, this would have been an amazing perk for those who cut their teeth huddled at the end of Der Riese's infamous catwalk in the World at War days. While most Black Ops 4 zombies maps aren't as conducive to that playstyle, Stone Cold Stronghold is still undeniably useful.

When standing still, players with this perk active generate a small circle around them and will receive a damage boost for as long as they remain inside of it. A group of four players using this perk together could be nigh on unstoppable save for the issues presented by ever-depleting ammunition reserves.

Quick Revive

what is the phd perk in zombies

One of the four core zombies perks first introduced in Zombie Verruckt, the first-ever zombies DLC map in Call of Duty: World At War , Quick Revive initially hastened the process of reviving a downed teammate and was completely useless while playing solo.

The perk was buffed considerably for Black Ops 4 , shortening the time it took to revive downed players, but also shortening the time it took to regenerate health after losing it. When the perk's modifier is applied, reviving a downed player grants both players full health and increased movement speed for a short time, which is often vital in near-death situations.

Winter's Wail

The Winter's Wail perk logo from Call of Duty Black Ops 4's zombies mode.

A re-work of Widow's Wine from Black Ops III , Winter's Wail causes players to unleash a defensive frost aura when hit, freezing and slowing nearby zombies for a short amount of time. When used in the modifier slot, players can carry an additional charge—up to three total—and will be able to discharge frost for several seconds, often providing an easy escape from potentially sticky situations.

Winter's Wail may not be as revered as the perk on which it was based, but it's still an incredibly useful buff, particularly on close-quarters maps like Alpha Omega or Voyage of Despair.

Bandolier Bandit

Black Ops 4's Bandolier Bandit perk logo.

According to the Call of Duty Wiki , Bandolier Bandit is actually a version of Amm-o-Matic, a cut perk that was originally slated to debut in World At War 's Der Riese map. On its own, Bandolier Bandit simply increases the amount of ammo players can carry in each weapon. However, when used in the modifier slot, players can actually slowly regenerate ammo in weapons that aren't currently in use.

RELATED:  Every 7th Generation Call Of Duty Game, Ranked According To Metacritic

Though the effects of this perk aren't immediately obvious, it can be incredibly useful for players opting to use weapons that don't offer much ammunition in reserve, and it can make some unconventional loadouts much more viable.

The Stamin-Up perk logo in Call of Duty Black Ops 4's zombies mode.

When Stamin-Up first debuted in Ascension, the first DLC zombies map attached to the original Black Ops , it was a bit underrated; though an increased movement speed and a longer sprint duration helped, it wasn't quite as helpful as all-time favorites like Juggernog, Speed Cola, or PhD Flopper. However, as Call of Duty zombies maps grew to be larger, Stamin-Up's usefulness became more apparent.

In Black Ops 4 , Stamin-Up is almost essential on some of the title's sprawling maps, and the perk modifier, which allows players to sprint indefinitely, is invaluable when making a quick escape from some of the mode's many boss zombies .

The Dying Wish perk logo in Call of Duty Black Ops 4's zombies mode.

The defacto replacement for the essential Jugger-Nog perk in  Call of Duty Black Ops 4 , Dying Wish allows players to survive a fatal hit and enter a berserk mode for a few seconds, allowing them an opportunity to escape an otherwise deadly situation. When placed in the modifier slot, players will recover all of their health after leaving the berserk state, an added boon to an already essential perk.

Dying Wish is beyond helpful and affords the player a safety net that was once provided by the mode's flagship perk. That said, it takes quite a bit of time to recharge after use, which drastically handicaps its usefulness.

  • When the player dives from an elevated surface (Off a ledge, down some stairs ect.) upon landing, you basically explode but it doesn't hurt you. The explosion will instantly kill any zombie around you up until about round 20.
  • You take less damage from falls.

That's about it :)
