30 Famous and Short Inspirational Speeches (5 minutes or less)

  • December 13, 2023

This post is all about the best short inspirational speeches.

Short Inspirational Speeches.

If you are in need of a quick boost of inspiration and motivation, you will find that in this post. I am one of those people who loves to get motivated. That sounds weird, right?

Well, a lot of people these days tend to give motivation a hard time because they don’t believe that it has lasting effects. In other words, they believe that what’s most important is your own self-discipline, because that’s what you have to rely on when motivation isn’t there.

And while I do agree with that sentiment in general, I will never pass up a great motivational podcast or YouTube video! šŸ˜€ There’s just something about them that even if they might not have lasting effects, they do truly help pump me up in the moment to get work done. And that’s usually what matters to me the most when I am looking for them in the first place.

So, here are the very best short motivational speeches so you can get that quick fix of motivation that you’re looking for, and ultimately move closer to your goals and dreams.

Short Inspirational Speeches

Believe in yourself speeches.

If you lack confidence or you are doubting yourself, these short motivational speeches will help you to believe in yourself again.

1. Rocky’s Inspirational Speech to His Son | ROCKY BALBOA

In less than 5 minutes, youā€™ll watch Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) explain to his son that if he wants to have the life he desires, he needs to believe in himself. He needs to stop listening to the people that tell him who he is, and instead go be his own person, and stop looking for someone to blame when things arenā€™t working out for him because ultimately itā€™s on HIM. This is one of the greatest inspirational speeches of all time.

2. Find Your Purpose | David Goggins – Motivational Speech

David Goggins is truly incredible. A former Navy SEAL, he has broken records and ran more races than you’d imagine. But the one thing that really stands out about him is his mindset.

Listen to this video if you want to be great. He tells you exactly what you need to do to get there.

Also, if you’ve never read David Goggins’ book “Can’t Hurt Me” , I highly recommend it. He talks about his rough upbringing, and how he was able to essentially become an entirely new person to become a Navy SEAL.

3. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF – Motivational Video (ft. Jaret Grossman & Eric Thomas)

This video is all about how important it is to have the proper belief system. If you truly believe that you are one of the best, you will start acting that you are one of the best, and eventually you may just be one of the best.

4. DON’T LET YOUR DREAMS DIE – Motivational Speech

This YouTube short by Mel Robbins is so good, I had to share it. A light bulb went on in my head when I first watched this. If there is something that is always on your mind, don’t let it haunt you forever because you never put yourself out there to try it. Go and DO!

Motivational Speeches About Not Giving Up

The following short motivational speeches are all about not giving up on your dreams. If you are losing hope, these short motivational speeches will inspire you to keep going.

5. BrenĆ© Brown It’s Not The Critic Who Counts

This speech will give you chills, and it is packed with great lessons about life. BrenƩ Brown is a researcher who went viral for a Ted Talk, and here she talks about how to overcome critics and to keep believing in yourself no matter what. If you are worried about what people think of you, you NEED to watch this.

6. Amazing Motivational Speech by Denzel WashingtonĀ

This is another video that gave me chills. The main theme of this famous speech is “ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship”. Stay consistent even when it’s hard. Easy task after easy task won’t get you to where you want to be.

7. Steve Harvey – Inspirational Speech | Motivational Short Video | Incredible You

This short motivational speech by Steve Harvey is short but impactful. If you are someone who stepped out of your comfort zone to pursue something really difficult, and youā€™re thinking about giving up, this speech may just prevent you from doing so.

8. Ed Mylett on The Power of One More

Ed Mylett shares the story of how his father stayed sober until his dying day, and how Ed himself uses that same philosophy to never give up. Personal stories like these are always the most inspiring.

By the way, if you REALLY want to push yourself and become the best, read Ed Mylett’s most recent book on this same topic, “The Power Of One More” .

Motivational Speeches If You’re Feeling Behind

Are you feeling behind in life? If so, let’s change that. Watch these videos to be reminded that you are on your own unique path. You have no competition other than your past self. These short motivational videos will help you believe that.

9. Before You Feel Pressure – WATCH THIS | by Jay Shetty

Jay Shetty talks to a school class about how thereā€™s no one ā€œperfectā€ life timeline to follow, and that we are all on our own clock.

10. Kevin Hart Motivational Speech

If youā€™ve made mistakes in your life (havenā€™t we all) this is a great story from Kevin Hart (famous comedian and actor) that will remind you of the power of making mistakes and pushing through hard times.

11. Oprah Winfrey | 5 Minutes For The NEXT 50 Years of Your LIFE

In this video, Oprah talks about the importance of really knowing who you are and what you want in your life. She talks about surrounding yourself with great people, and how to have enormous success. “Let excellence be your brand.”

Listen To These If You Need Perspective

Sometimes in life, we get so caught up in the day to day that we forget what truly matters – the people we love. If you are having trouble with something in life, give these videos a listen, because they just might help you realize what is really important.

12. Arnold Schwarzenegger – Organize Your Day | 1 MINUTE MOTIVATIONAL VIDEO

Are you the kind of person who always complains that you don’t have enough time to do something? If so, you’re not alone. We are all busy humans, running around doing a million things. But if you aren’t prioritizing what you know you should be doing, listen to this video.

13. How to Judge Your Life Using 3 Simple Questions | Brendon Burchard Speech| Goalcast

Have you ever heard of Mortality Motivation? It’s essentially what it sounds like… being motivated by the impending reality of your death. It sounds a little morbid, but it’s actually quite beautiful and it can be really beneficial if you harness it for good.

In this video by motivational speaker Brendon Burchard, he shares how a car accident when he was 19 gave him mortality motivation and changed everything for him.

14. FALL, SUFFER AND LEARN | MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH BY OPRAH WINFREY

This speech by Oprah was given to Harvard graduates, and it’s a unique speech because she talks about failing, even after the major success of her television show for over 20 years.

It’s refreshing to hear that even the most successful people fail. What really matters, though, is what you do with your failure. Do you learn from it and move on? Or do you give up?

15. YOU VS YOU – Best Motivational Video

This is a pretty intense video about competition. If your #1 competition is someone else, you need to change your perspective. Your only competition is YOU. The only thing preventing you from moving forward is you.

16. The Speech That Brought This Entire School To Tears

This is a speech about a man who never really paid much attention to his mother, until she passed away. Itā€™s an emotional reminder to cherish the time you have with your loved ones, because you never know if the next time you see them will be the last time.

In my opinion, this speaker embodies many qualities of the best motivational speakers because he really knows how to capture the audience’s attention and pull on their heart strings.

17. 5 Minutes to Start Your Day Right! – MORNING MOTIVATION

This motivational speech is by a Navy SEAL who will remind you to start each day with a task completed, respect everyone, take risks, step up during tough times, and never give up. If you do these things, the next generation, and the generations that follow, will live better lives than we live today.

18. The Real You – Jim Carrey

This video is one of the best motivational speech examples because it reminds you of something so important: sometimes we can be so focused on earning more money, gaining fame, and becoming admired that we lose ourselves or we lose sight of what’s really important to us in the process.

Jim Carrey talks about how he is a great example of that. He got all of the money, fame, and admiration, and admits that that wasn’t really who he was. Sometimes it’s nice to be reminded that money and fame, or even getting to the top of the corporate ladder, while nice, aren’t going to be the thing that brings you fulfillment when it’s all said and done.

19. Ed Mylett Motivational Speech

I posted another motivational video by Ed Mylett above, but if you don’t know much about him, prepare to have your world rocked. He’s probably my absolute favorite motivational speaker because he is successful and he works hard, but he’s also (seemingly) a kind, family guy who’s been through a few things.

In this video, he talks about being “the one” that changed his family tree. Take a listen because I’m sure it’ll get you thinking on whether or not you can be “the one” in YOUR family.

P.S. If you love personal growth content, you should check out Ed Mylett’s podcast . I listen to it every week and it is one of my favorites.

20. If You Feel LOST, LAZY & UNMOTIVATED In Life, WATCH THIS! | Tony Robbins Motivation

Great Inspirational Speeches About Hard Work

How hard do you think you work? Could you be doing more? If there’s a little voice inside of your heart that knows you could be doing more and better, these motivational videos about the value of hard work will help you push yourself.

And a side note: your chances of having good luck increase the harder and longer you work.

21. You’re Not Tired, You’re Just Weak – David Goggins Motivation

If youā€™re feeling lazy or like you donā€™t want to do something, watch this video til 2:25 . It will give you the push you need to put your head down and do the work. Itā€™ll remind you to keep pursuing your goals and to keep challenging yourself. Key takeaway: push yourself beyond your perceived limits.

22. Hard Work & Patience – A Gary Vaynerchuk Original Film

If you want to be motivated to work hard, listen to Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary Vaynerchuk is a creative genius known for his marketing tactics. This famous motivational speech is all about playing ā€œthe long gameā€, as in, working for a long time and having patience instead of working hard for a short period of time and expecting to win quickly.

23. OBSESSION – Best Motivational Speech

This is one of my favorite short motivational speeches because it makes me feel a little more normal for being “weird”. I’m the kind of person who chooses to work on the weekends instead of hanging out with people. Crazy, right? But it’s because I’m working toward a dream of mine and it’s something that’s really important to me. The most important thing to remember: it’s okay to devote yourself to something. It’s the only way to get what you want in life.

24. WORK LIKE HELL – Best Motivational Video

This is a series of motivational speeches about doing a little bit more and outworking your competition. I’m not going to lie – I’m up late writing this post and listening to this very video is what’s motivating me to keep going.

25. The video EVERY woman should watch!

26. NEVER SURRENDER – Powerful Motivational Speech (by Kobe Bryant)

This one minute video by the late Kobe Bryant is one of the most famous short speeches. I read a book recently by his former personal trainer and I learned that Kobe really outworked everyone. He talks about a quote in this video that really stuck with him, and I think it’s great advice if you’re the kind of person who needs motivation to keep working hard.

Motivational Speeches About Working Smart

Have you ever heard the saying “work smarter, not harder”? That saying is all about ensuring that the work you are doing is actually efficient. Are you getting to where you want to go with all of the work that you are putting in? Are you getting closer to your goals and your dreams? Or are you sprinting like a hamster on a wheel and just running in circles?

Here are great videos on the importance of working hard but also working intentionally.

27. SET SYSTEMS RATHER THAN GOALS – Motivational Speech – James Clear

A goal gives you a sense of direction, but if you don’t spell out precisely how you are going to get to a goal, it is useless. You must develop systems. Listen to this James Clear video to gain valuable life lessons.

By the way, James Clear is an author who wrote perhaps my favorite book of all time: “Atomic Habits” . It’s life-changing if you haven’t read it yet.

28. Matthew McConaughey | 5 Minutes for the NEXT 50 Years of Your LIFE

This is one of the best motivational speeches of all time about how to live a great life for YOU. It’s filled with little pieces of wisdom that’ll really get you thinking about how you live your life and in what direction you want to go.

29. Visualization is the key – Bob Proctor

Do you believe in the Law of Attraction? If not, I have to say I’m surprised! I’ve experienced it in my own life more than once, and it is incredibly powerful. Here’s a great video that sums up the power of visualization, and if you want to learn more about the Law of Attraction or manifestation in general, read this post .

This video shows the true power of words, thoughts, and feelings that you have.

10 Tips for Writing and Making a Self-Introduction Speech

Here are some tips to keep in mind while writing and giving your self-introduction speech. The most important tip, however, is to do what feels natural and flows easily.

  • Know Your Audience : Tailor your introduction to the context and the audience. A self-introduction at a professional event will be very different from one at a casual party.
  • Start Strong: Grab the audience's attention from the beginning. You can start with an interesting fact about yourself, a short story, or a joke if the setting is informal.
  • Keep It Brief: Your introduction should be concise and to the point. Stick to key details about who you are, what you do, and perhaps one or two interesting facts or hobbies.
  • Be Authentic : Genuine introductions are the most memorable. Be honest about who you are and don't be afraid to show some personality.
  • Highlight Key Moments : Especially in a professional setting, it can be helpful to highlight a few key experiences or achievements that have defined your career or personal life.
  • End on a Positive Note: Conclude your introduction on a positive or forward-looking note. You could express excitement about the event or meeting, or share a hope or goal for the future.
  • Practice, Practice, Practice : Rehearse your introduction speech so you can deliver it confidently and naturally. This will help reduce any nerves and ensure you come across as polished and professional.
  • Be Engaging : Use body language to engage your audience. Make eye contact, smile, and use gestures where appropriate.
  • Relate It to the Purpose of the Event : If there's a specific reason for your introduction (like starting a new job, or joining a club), make sure to mention your relationship to the event or group and your expectations or goals.
  • Provide A Personal Touch : Share a little about your personal life (like a hobby or interest) to make your introduction more unique and memorable.
  • 15 Powerful Attention Getters for Any Type of Speech

Remember, the goal is to introduce yourself effectively, not to tell your entire life story. Keep it brief, engaging, and genuine .

Introducing Yourself With Ease

Sit yourself in front of the mirror, and run through your lines like an actor for a play, and in no time at all, the words will flow and you'll find a natural cadence. You may even surprise yourself with how easily your introductions flows once you take the stage. Don't be surprised if people ask how you were so calm and cool.

self-introduction lines by a man

Hey! I am Hrideep Barot, founder of Frantically Speaking. In this blog Iā€™ll try to give you a comprehensive idea of 35+ best self-introduction lines, soā€¦um..yea, stay tuned?

Now If you are wondering who introduces themselves in such a bizarre way?

We are here to tell you, almost everyone!

Try to remember the first time you were asked to introduce yourself in front of your class, do you think you did a good job?

If yes, kudos to you!

But mostly, we all fumbled, had no idea what to say, and ended our self-introduction with either ā€œYep thatā€™s it?ā€ or ā€œI guess that is me!ā€

But as we grow up, we realize how important it is to be able to introduce ourselves in the most dynamic way possible. Because a lot many times these self-introduction lines help you make your first impression and can even make or break your life in terms of job opportunities or relationships.

Self-introductions are your way of introducing yourself to people . It is a gist of what you do? Where do you come from? And everything else that might be important for the listener to continue the conversation with you.

On average, self-introductions are about a minute long. But they can range from about 30 seconds as in the case of an elevator pitch to 2 minutes for interviews.

Before diving into self-introduction lines, letā€™s first understand a few things which will help you frame the perfect self-introduction lines of yourself!

Why is self-introduction important?

Self-introductions are very important because:

1. Helps you interact with others

Self-introductions are an effective way to begin a conversation with someone you may or may not know.

2. To make a good first impression

As discussed, self-introductions help in communicating and interacting with new people. This would also mean that self-introductions help in forming a good first impression on people if done properly.

3. Let others understand your background

Self-introductions are not just about stating your name and profession but also about your other basic details. These would include the place you come from, your educational background, or your interests. All of these provide an opportunity for the other person to understand you better .

4. Helps to break the ice

Often, on the first day of school or college, we are asked to introduce ourselves. Why do they do it? Because self-introductions act as ice breakers and would help you interact with your classmates effectively later on.

Things to avoid in your self-introduction lines

There are a few things that you must avoid when you are giving a self-introduction. To understand this better letā€™s take a look at the first few lines of this very blog and point out the mistakes!

1. Lack of information

The first thing that youā€™ll observe in the above example is how little information you have about the speaker.

There is nothing you know beyond the fact that I am the founder of frantically speaking. And, if you are visiting our website for the first time, you might not even have a clear idea of what frantically speaking offers!

Thus, providing very little information is something that you must avoid at all costs. It steals the opportunity for the readers or listeners to understand where you come from or relate to you.

A revised version of the above example would be something like,

Hey! I am Hrideep Barot, founder of Frantically Speaking, an organization that works to help you be a more confident communicator and public speaker. Self-introductions happen to be one the most crucial things in any form of communication and so here we are with a perfect guide comprising of more than 35 self-introduction lines that you can use the next time you have to introduce yourself!Ā

2. Filler words

Be it a casual conversation or a professional interview, using filler words shows that you are either unprepared or too nervous, both of which come in the way of effectively communicating.

So, try to avoid using filler words as much as possible

3. Less confidence

Self-introductions are like short quick speeches about the easiest and most convenient topic ever, Your own self!

Be honest with what you are saying and be confident. So, when in the example above, I use ā€œ Iā€™ll try to give a comprehensive idea on 35+ self-introduction lines,ā€ the word try is what shows my doubt or poor confidence in my ability to provide you with the necessary information as it indicates an attempt.

4. Overconfidence

If you think you can overcome the limitation of being underconfident by being a little extra confident, reconsider!

Overconfidence would make you boast about yourself or ramble on and on about yourself , and no one is interested in either.

So, try to be confident in yourself but also consider what others would be expecting from your self-introduction.

To avoid making these mistakes while introducing yourself, you can try to structure your self-introduction prior hand. Or keep these structures in your mind so that you can use them to frame a self-introduction on the spot.

Point, Reason, Example, Point is what PREP stands for. But what does that mean?

Simple, you begin by making a point, then you give a reason for stating that particular point. Now because we are practical beings, we always look for credibility which you give to your listeners by introducing an example that strengthens your reason. Once you have given an example, you might want to restate the point either directly or by paraphrasing to end it on an impactful note.

WWW stands for, Who you are? Why do you do what you do? and Where are you going from here?

An example of WWW for self-introduction is given below

Hey I am Reshma, the founder of fitee, your one stop destination for fitness styling. We belive that it is very important for you to feel confident and comfortable in your clothes when you are working out. I founded the brand after struggling to find good althetisure that would not only be comfortable but also help me look glamnourous. We look forward to reaching every nook and corner of the country and help all the fitnes enthusiats to put their best fit forward!

Check out the YouTube video to get an in-depth understanding of the concepts we just discussed.

Self-introduction lines for presentations

Self-introductions for presentations are a little different than the ones we discussed so far.

Self-introductions for presentations require you to use formal language. Also, they are short and quick and donā€™t usually exceed 30 seconds, as a long self-introduction would mean less time for you to present your topic!

A few things that you must remember before introducing yourself for your presentations are:

Keep it short . Keep it simple and to the point. Make sure to pause after you are done introducing yourself and before you start with your topic.

Give warming to your audience if required . Ā Warming like ā€œIā€™m sorry for the voice, I have been a little sickā€ Or ā€œIā€™m Ā  sorry but I am facing some network issues and might get logged out in the middle of the presentation in which case do not leave, Iā€™ll join back as soon as possible.ā€

In case you are presenting in front of a large crowd, you may want to start with an attention grabber like a quote, story , rhetorical question , or even a prolonged pause before jumping into introducing yourself. However, this might not be necessary in the case of small group presentations.

How to Introduce yourself to a group?

If introducing yourself to one person was not daunting enough, imagine introducing yourself to a group of people?

The idea behind introducing yourself to a group of people is to connect with them or even be a part of the group.

So the best way to introduce yourself to a group is to briefly talk about yourself and then try to initiate a conversation with them. You can do that in any of the following ways:

1. Talk about relatable topics

Try to understand if there is anything common between you and the group you want to introduce yourself to?

Do you and the group come from the same background? area of study? locality? university? have the same interests?

Once you figure that out, you can then try to add the topic in your self-introduction. This will prompt the others to not only respond to you but will also make them interested in getting to know you.

So for instance if you have to introduce yourself to a group of people outside a concert, you might want to say something like:

Hi, I am Ren. Iā€™ve been following the band for a year now. It just felt like you all have known the band for some time now. How long have you known this band?

2. Talk about generic topics

Talking about generic topics is the most convenient way to give a self-intorduction and begin a conversation with the group.

Generic questions will involve asking questions related to their profession, area of study, Interests, family, and friends.

A few generic questions that you can add to your self-introduction are:

  • What brings you to (the event/place)?
  • Did you go to XYZ school as well?
  • How is the (new place/ job/ school) treating you?
  • What do you do for a living?

3. Add to the Conversation

Now letā€™s assume you find a group of people talking about something that you have ample knowledge about or interest in. This would make it very easy for you to introduce yourself to the group as you can add to their conversation by putting across a different point of view. You can also simply agree with their already existing views.

An example of adding to the conversation while introducing yourself to a group is given below:

Hello! Iā€™m sorry for interrupting but I overheard your conversation and couldnā€™t help but add to it. My name is Zack, I am a school counselor at St Stephen High School. As you (points to someone) rightly said, it is indeed getting very difficult for students to cope up with the ever increasing competition and the need for academic validation. But unlike you, Iā€™d suggest giving them enough space and an open, loving enviornment to be vulnerable in rather than being authoritative as it can prove to be more beneficial.

Popular Self-Introduction lines

Famous self-introduction lines or popular self-introduction lines are the ones we use casually or in our everyday conversation.

A few ways in which you can introduce yourself in everyday life are given below:

Introducing yourself in 2 lines to a new colleague or neighbor

Hey there! I am Dan, I live next door. I saw you moved in yesterday so thought I should come over and introduce myself to you. Let me know if there is anything I can help you out with.
Hey, arenā€™t you the new intern? I am Piyush from the Accounting department by the way. Itā€™s really nice to meet you, hope the office is treating you right!

More informal ways of introducing can sound like ā€œHey Raj, Riya here, Alishaā€™s friend!ā€ or ā€œgood morning! I donā€™t think we have met before, I am Ayan by the way!ā€

Creative ways to introduce yourself

Creative self-introductions are the ones that are online than any other. They are unique and help you stand out. A few out-of-the-box ideas to introduce yourself are given below.

1. Self-Tag

Self tags are a creative way to introduce yourself. It also encourages the other person to make a conversation with you.

A typical self-tag includes writing your name on a sticker and pasting it on your shirt so that everyone can see it.

There are people who make it more creative by wearing t-shirts with a couple of lines that describe them.

An example of a self-introduction line you can get printed on your t-shirt is ā€œHi! I am James and I love mountain bikes. Do you?ā€

2. Sing a song

On my first day of college, a classmate of mine ended up singing a song, describing himself and that has stuck with me to this day! Singing a song is a very unusual way of introducing yourself.

But it would obviously require you to have the skills of singing well. Else your self-introduction may turn out to be a disaster.

If you are not good at singing, you can try your hands at spoken word poetry, stand-up, an advertisement with a small jingle in the end , or absolutely anything else that comes easy to you!

Final Words

Self-introductions form a very crucial part of any form of communication. It is the gist of your own self.

You donā€™t have to go into great depths to come up with a self-introduction that suits perfectly for you, just having a clear idea of the points you want to highlight. Also, make sure to keep it short and crisp. Donā€™t make it too lengthy by focusing too much on details or ramblings on and on about yourself.

Understand the situation in which you are introducing yourself. Self-introduction for an interview should be formal and more structured. While for a casual conversation, you can add slang words and maintain a free flow.

Lastly, just be yourself, because that is what self-introductions are all about!

Hello and good [morning/afternoon/evening], esteemed guests, dear colleagues, and anyone who might have wandered in thinking this was a different event! My name is [Your Name], and I am here to introduce myself, which is fortunate because I happen to know a lot about the subject.

My journey began in a small, quirky town known as [Hometown]. Itā€™s one of those places where everyone knows your business, whether you want them to or not, and where the local llama parade is considered high entertainment. Early Years and Education

As a young sprout, I was as curious as a cat with a WiFi connection, always poking my nose into books, experiments, and occasionally, electrical sockets. I took to education like a duck to water, or perhaps like a duck to quantum physics, given my tendency to overcomplicate my science fair projects.

I ventured forth to [University/College Name], where I majored in [Your Major] and minored in trying to find parking. College was a blur of caffeine-fueled study sessions, existential ponderings over cafeteria food, and learning that, yes, you can indeed use a pizza box as a makeshift desk.

I learned early on that ā€˜entry-levelā€™ is code for ā€˜Weā€™ll pay you with experience and leftover birthday cake.ā€™ Iā€™ve since climbed the ranks, working on projects ranging from [Important Work] to ā€˜Are you sure this is legal?ā€™ My careerā€™s been a roller coaster, which is to say thrilling, occasionally terrifying, and with a higher than average chance of losing your lunch.

Personal Philosophy and Misadventures

My personal philosophy is simple: ā€˜Why not?ā€™ Itā€™s led me to some incredible experiences, like [Anecdote] and some dubious decisions, like that time I [Humorous Misadventure]. I believe in living life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a generous sprinkling of reckless optimism.

In terms of contributions, Iā€™ve been involved in [Community Work/Volunteering], where Iā€™ve honed my skills in [Skill] and discovered that yes, you can indeed fix that with duct tape. Iā€™m proud of my [Achievement], though Iā€™m equally proud of my record for [Quirky Personal Record].

Looking Ahead with a Wink

As for the future, Iā€™m excited about [Upcoming Projects/Goals]. I approach new challenges with a blend of determination, strategic thinking, and an emergency stash of chocolate. Iā€™m on a quest to [Future Ambition], and while I may not know exactly what twists and turns lie ahead, I guarantee it wonā€™t be boring.

In wrapping up this wild ride of an introduction, I hope Iā€™ve given you a taste of who I am: a blend of [Your Characteristics] with a penchant for [Your Quirk]. I look forward to the adventures weā€™ll have, the projects weā€™ll tackle, and the inevitable bloopers along the way. Thank you for your time, your laughter, and the opportunity to be a part of this incredible [Event/Organization]. Let the journey begin!

Another short manner for introducing yourself is the elevator speech, meant for business purposes.

The key question for successful and effective presenting yourself to others in both occasions is: how much and what information do you want the audience to know about you?

Due to the fact you have to write your talk around one theme, I recommend to develop one aspect of your life. That aspect will tell who you are and what you are about. Some people call this type a one-point preliminary, because it is based on one speaking idea.

Can We Write Your Speech?

Get your audience blown away with help from a professional speechwriter. Free proofreading and copy-editing included.

Look at the sample self introduction speech topics and pick out the aspects of your personal life you want to share with the audience. Approach the list below with the who, the what, the whereabouts, for sure the why, the how and when questions. That is an effective way to outline your first thoughts.

  • What activity has played or plays an important part in your life? Tell the story and distract the message.
  • What is your main personal goal?
  • What do you like very much? Your hobby?
  • What do you hate or dislike? Your aversions?
  • Do you have developed a very special skill?
  • What is your lifestyle?
  • Can you come up with a turning point or milestone in you life?
  • What is your hobby or interest in your spare time?
  • What is a pet peeve or another very familiar topic you like to talk about, to do or to discuss?
  • Where you are from? Do your roots reveal something about yourself that is new for the audience? That always works in a small nice text for introducing your biggest personal features.
  • Is there an object or prop that means a lot to you?
  • What distinguishes you from other individuals in class?

Now that you have picked out a central thesis, use this example profiler I have created:

Grab their attention . Immediately bring in your central message and come to the point.

Give some background information . Tell why it is important to you, why you are doing it, why you want to tell them, etcetera.

Now work out your item of discussion in a few sentences. Draw the contours, make it personal.

Give an example .

In conclusion, offer a memorable answer in your self-introduction speech on the question the listeners probably will have when they listen to your public speaking efforts: what’s in it for me? Tell how this aspect of your life makes who you are and what you are. It will be the perfect ending of your spoken presentation.

i think that talking about some people that have influenced you the most really gives good base to your speech and it helps you by writing about things that you are familiar with so if you write about what has inspired you and what you care about you can easily write about anything.

How to Write a Speech About Yourself

There is a lot of work and preparation that goes into writing a speech. If you're writing a speech about yourself, you need to consider a variety of factors, including your audience, the purpose of the speech, and how long your speech should be. With a good amount of preparation, planning, and editing, you can craft a speech that introduces yourself effectively and entertainingly.

Sample Template

short speech in myself

Prewriting Your Speech

Step 1 Clarify the purpose of your speech.

  • One method for brainstorming is to create a mind map. You can do this with a paper and pencil, starting by writing your central idea or theme in the middle of the page. Then use lines to connect ideas and points that branch off from this central idea. For a speech about yourself, you might start with a central bubble labeled "Me". Then you might have three or four bubbles connected to the central one that say things like "Interests", "Aspirations", etcetera. Then as you continue branching out the bubbles will get more specific.
  • There are other methods for brainstorming you might find useful. You could try the alphabet method, where you list a few things related to the subject of your speech for each letter, starting with A and working down.
  • Another brainstorming method is the three perspectives method. You think about the subject of the speech in three perspectives. First, describe the subject, which is yourself in this case. Then, trace it. Trace your history, where you came from and where you've come to, and how you've changed over that journey. Finally, map it. Think about who and what has influenced you and how. How do you fit into the bigger picture. Step 3 Tailor your content to your audience and purpose.

  • It's worth thinking about various aspects of the audience, because this will determine various aspects of your speech, such as its length, its tone, etcetera.
  • For example, if your audience is a wedding reception, and this is a best man speech, your audience will be most interested in your relationship with the groom and your history with him. You also don't want a speech like this to drag on because the best man isn't the focal point of the event.

Writing Your Speech

Step 1 Review your assignment.

  • The most important difference between a long and a short speech is the amount of detail. A two minute speech in which you introduce yourself to a class will have a short intro that might be just your opening statement. There might be only a paragraph or two in the body of the speech, and the conclusion will probably be only a sentence or two.
  • A ten to fifteen minute speech will have an introduction that in itself has a beginning, middle, and end, an opening statement, an introduction fo the main points of speech, and a summary of the main theme. The body might consist of four to six paragraphs, and each one will include both explanations of the main points, as well as examples. The conclusion will be a lengthier summary, and might include a sentence or two that ties the theme of the speech into a broader context.

Step 2 Write an outline.

  • Depending on the length of your speech, you may need to break up the body section into multiple parts, like "Paragraph 1," "Paragraph 2," etcetera.
  • Speeches two minutes and shorter should have one or two main points, which can probably fit into a single body paragraph.
  • Speeches between two and five minutes should have two to three main points, given a paragraph each in the body.
  • Longer speeches, over five minutes, should have up to five main points, given a paragraph each in the body.
  • At this stage, you should also begin thinking about how your content will be organized. For a speech about yourself, it would make sense to either organize your content chronologically, with each main point being a different period in your history, or topically, with each main point as a different topic related to yourself.

Step 3 Plan your opening statement.

  • If this is a simple, short speech, meant to introduce you to your class or group, you can start with a basic introduction that includes a brief greeting, your name, and the purpose of the speech. This can look something like "Good morning everyone! My name is so-and-so and I'd like to take this chance to introduce myself to the group."
  • If this speech about yourself is for a more specific purpose than just introducing yourself, you may want to make the introduction a little more entertaining and interesting. You can start with a provocative question, a shocking fact, a joke, or an evocative image. For example, if your speech is about an interesting aspect of your life, like your unusual profession, you can start with something like "Imagine waking up every morning to sound of safari wildlife in every direction around you."

Step 4 Finish the introduction.

  • For example, if you're giving a small speech about yourself to your class you can say something like "First I'll tell you a little bit about my past, and then I'll tell you about some of my interests and aspirations. I'll close with my plans for my career."

Step 5 Continue with the body of the speech.

  • For example, if you're writing an introductory speech for a college organization, like a photography club, you might start the body with a paragraph about how you got interested in photography. The opening sentence might go like "Photography caught my interest very early on, especially with its ability to caption and preserve life's precious moments." The closing sentence might look like "Since then, I've been eagerly pursuing more knowledge on the ins and outs of what makes a photo great."

Step 6 End with a strong conclusion.

  • For example, if your speech was about your interest and experience in the film industry, you can tie your own experiences with the idea of cinema on a grand scale. The conclusion should focus on the overarching importance of the topic of your speech.
  • If your speech is simply to introduce yourself, you can end with a less grand conclusion. The conclusion of a self-introduction speech should reiterate and summarize the most important parts of your speech, the main details about yourself that you shared.

Improving Your Speech

Step 1 Take inspiration from other speeches.

  • Read your speech out loud as well. This will help you hear the rhythm of the speech and make adjustments to improve its flow. Fragments are okay, as long as they're used sparingly. Use active verbs in favor of passive ones.
  • When reading your speech out loud to yourself, note any sentences that are too long to be spoken comfortably in one breath. Split these sentences up as you edit.

Step 3 Include signposts.

  • When running through a short list of ideas, numeric signposts are used like "first," "second," and "third," or "firstly," "secondly," and "thirdly."
  • Signposts that show how two ideas relate to each other include, "furthermore," "in addition," "nevertheless," "however," "subsequently," and "for instance."
  • Major signposts tell the listener where in the speech you are. For example, the first paragraph will often start with something like, "I'd like to start by..." and the final paragraph will often start with something like "To summarize..."

Step 4 Avoid cliches.

  • What do you replace cliches with? First you have to deduce the basic meaning of the cliche phrase, then you can either think of a more interesting way to say the same thing, or, in many cases, you can forgo the phrase entirely.
  • For example, the phrase "in conclusion" means that you are signaling that you going to summarize all the ideas previously stated. This can be replaced by something like, "So what does this all mean?" or "I've told you a lot about myself. Here's the reason."
  • Often, cliche phrases are just filler that don't add anything important to the speech. Instead of saying, "Today I'll be talking to you about..." just start talking about it.

Step 5 Talk about yourself with humble confidence.

  • Avoid speaking too highly of yourself. For example, saying "everyone know's that I'm the best soccer player on the team..." when receiving the captain award in the presence of your entire soccer team probably won't go over well.
  • If, for example, you're the best soccer player on your team, you can instead humbly highlight your accomplishments by saying something like, "I've beat my personal record this season and scored 12 total goals. While it feels great to set this record, I know that it wouldn't be possible without the hard work and help of my teammates."
  • If you feel uncomfortable, it's okay to add some humor or briefly acknowledge that you feel awkward about talking about yourself. This will just make your audience feel like they can relate better to you.

Step 6 Find a friend or teacher who can help.

About This Article

Michelle Golden, PhD

Before you start writing a speech about yourself, create an outline on a blank page with the headings Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. Then, add bullet points under each section, and fill them in with the key issues you want to discuss. In the Introduction, tell your audience who you are and explain briefly what you'll cover in the speech. Additionally, you'll want to have 1-2 main ideas in the body if the speech is for 2 minutes, or 3 ideas if it's a 5-minute speech. Finally, write a conclusion to sum up the main points you've made.  An example of a self-introduction speech

 - with a step-by-step guide for preparing a short effective speech .

By:  Susan Dugdale

A self-introduction speech is often called for when a group of people get together first time. It could be a work-based seminar, a break-out group at a conference, a hobby group, or your new class at the start of the term. The occasions are numerous!

If you need to prepare short introduction speech about yourself, you're in the right place.

The purpose of a self-introduction speech

One thing a newly formed group generally shares is the need to make a bunch of strangers feel at ease:  to quickly establish a sense of unity or belonging.

And one of commonest ways to achieve that, in a setting where people are expected to work collaboratively together, is to have each person give a brief 1ā€“2-minute self-introduction speech. *

If you've not expecting it and have nothing prepared, that triggers a whole lot of questions about the purpose of the speech and what would be best to say. * This is not an elevator speech - i.e., a brief, carefully worked pitch highlighting your strengths and experience to encourage a potential employer or client to consider taking you on.

You are already a member of the group. You don't need to pitch or advertise yourself. All you need to do is introduce yourself because these people don't know you.

Common questions people ask themselves

Usually, the leader will start and around the members of the group you go, one by one.

  • What will you say when it's your turn?
  • What's the purpose of this speech? What could it to achieve for you if you do it well?
  • What can you say that will interest people?
  • What topics fit with the occasion?
  • What will the people listening expect to hear?
  • What tone do you use? Formal or informal?
  • And more importantly, if you're anxious about public speaking, what will stop the fear of making a complete fool of yourself?

First impressions count, so let's look at the elements that go together to make a good introduction speech about yourself.

Self-introduction speech content areas

There are six content areas to cover. The first three are essential. The remaining three lift your speech from 'basic' to something a little more interesting.

  • Stating your name clearly
  • Placing yourself - where you are from, the organization you belong to, the position you currently hold
  • Background - what can you share that is related to the group's core purpose for meeting? Is it an event, experience, a particular skill or educational qualification?
  • Interest, passion or goal - what genuinely interests you? What drives you?  Is there a personal goal you want to achieve through being a member of this group?
  • Sharing personal details appropriate to the setting of your speech e.g., your hobbies or pet peeves.
  • Unity - what do you share in common with someone else in the group? Can you reference something somebody speaking before you said?

Self-preservation techniques for nervous speakers

Ignore everyone else and focus on yourself.

If this is the first time you've made an introduction speech about yourself and, you're inclined to be tongue-tied, awkward and nervous, don't listen to what others are saying before you.

I know that seems rude, but the situation calls for self-preservation.

Image: retro man in suit being attached by devils with pitchforks. Text: How to manage feeling anxious about giving a self-introduction speech.

If you allow yourself to listen, you'll get mesmerized by everybody else's speeches and be unable to plan anything useful for yourself. That will heighten your anxiety.

Start with making some notes

Grab a piece of paper, or use the notes app on your phone, the moment the round-robin introduction is announced and start jotting down ideas.

Start with the first three items from the list above. That's the basic information:  your name, where you are from and your background.  Then add more as time permits.

Everything you put down should be relevant to the occasion and your audience.  And remember to breathe well while you're doing it!

When we're anxious we tend to hold our breath which makes us feel worse. You'll find these breathing exercises help.

Watch the timing

Generally, the timing allowed for a self-introductory speech is between 1 - 2 minutes. (About 150-300 words.)

Going over that is poor form because it eats into the time allocated for everybody to speak. In addition, rambling on without being mindful of the larger group could be interpreted as boring and/or egotistical. Just try not to do it! ā˜ŗ

Example self-introduction speech

Here's a simple short self-introduction speech sample.  You can use it as a model to prepare your own speech.  All up there are 130 words which will take approximately a minute to say.

Hello sticker - My name is Masie Smith.

Hi everybody!

I'm Masie Smith, Senior Marketing Executive, from Watts and Frederick in Smalltown, Bigstate.

It's great to be finally here. I've been dreaming about the opportunity and possibilities of working collectively and directly with each other for a long time now. Jane and Sam can attest to that. There's been hours put in balancing the schedules to make it happen.

Webinars and email are fine, but nothing beats face to face.

Working collaboratively has always been a passion. Even in kindergarten I tried to set up a group-think session around a one swing and ten children problem.

Years later my master degree focused on harnessing group energy creatively. I've been inspired by agencies that got it right.

Sally you've already said it and I echo you. I'm excited!

Prepare and practice in readiness

If you know you have situations coming up that will call for a self-introduction speech start generating one ahead of time.

Make yourself an adaptable template using the core content elements listed above that you can use whatever the situation you are in.

Practicing your speech out loud will help you refine and hone your message.

It's well worth doing as these few words can set the way in which others view you. They can open doors, as well as close them!

With repetition you'll gain the confidence to speak for yourself concisely and cohesively. You'll find the temptation to succumb to a fit of the blithers will have vanished! (Thank goodness!)

Defining Introductions

Introduction is an act of making acquaintances with someone. An act of getting to know a person through means of talking. To meet someone new and tell them about you. A way of telling someone about you through presenting general details. Giving an overview by introducing yourself to a stranger or someone you just met.

Defining Speech

Speech is a formal or informal discussion between two or more people. It is an affirmation of a personā€™s ideas. The way of expressing oneā€™s opinions in a formal or informal way. It is the act of talking. Speaking out what you believe.

Defining Self Introductions

Defining self and introduction into two, we get: Self a person, oneā€™s own self. An individual. Introduction is an act of getting to know a person. Put them both together, we get Self Introduction is an act of telling the other person of oneā€™s own self.

Things to Look Out For

Listed below are things to look out for when making a good self-introduction speech . Often than not, people tend to take these for granted. These are also as important as making the speech itself. So here are some few things to look out for.Ā

  • Think – Think what you want to say in your self introduction speech . What do you want people to know about you in 2 minutes? Think of the information you wish to share. Are they too personal or general for the public?Ā
  • Voice – Make sure you can be heard from the back. Also do not make your voice too loud or too soft, rather make it clear and consistent. Your voice will let people know more about you. Meaning, how you speak will explain to people about who you are and how you talk to others.
  • Posture – Do not slouch when you are making a speech. Show your audience that you are confident and happy to be there. Your posture will also be another thing they will notice. If you slouch when making a speech, people will believe you are not interested in introducing yourself or interested in talking to them.Ā
  • Eye contact – Often taken for granted. Eye contact helps when you are making a speech. It makes the person or the people you are speaking to feel welcomed. It makes them feel that you are really happy to get to know them and vice versa.

Tips on How to Make a Good Self-Introduction Speech

  • General and Short – within a two minute self-introduction speech, you need not tell them your whole life story. Keep it general and short. State your name, your age if you are comfortable, and your course if you are a student and your future goals. The same goes for professionals at work. Keep it short. Two minutes is long enough if you only have a few things to share.
  • Pacing – Within the two minutes , do not rush. Do not lag either. Talk normally. Do not talk too fast that your audience or the person you are talking to will not understand. Nor do not talk too slow or they will lose interest.
  • Breathe – One reason as to why people get nervous when doing a self-introduction speech is that they often hold their breaths. Just breathe. This can help you get less afraid and more comfortable. Anyone who suffers from stage fright even when it’s simply making a self-introduction can understand this. Just breathe. Itā€™s okay.
  • Smile – When making your self-introduction, donā€™t forget to smile. This is a good way of drawing attention to yourself and to make people feel easy.

What other things may I add to a self-introduction speech besides my name?

If you are a student, you may also state your age (if you wish), your course, your hobbies and your career goals after you graduate. If you are already working, you may even add your hobbies.

How do I fit my whole self-introduction in two minutes?

Just talk about the basics. What information do you want to say about yourself? This is not a life story, merely a getting to know you. Your audience will lose interest if you talk about your whole life story. So avoid that at all costs.

Why is it so important to introduce yourself?

Introducing yourself to people is important because this is a good way of meeting new people. This is a good way of knowing new and potential friends. It is also a good way of seeing if anyone is interested in making acquaintance with you.

With all that being said, we cannot avoid doing a self-introduction wherever we go. Whether we are students or professionals or even simply getting to know someone in a party or any type of event that involves people. This can be scary sometimes especially if we get tongue tied, but with the simple tips listed above, you need not worry anymore. Now that you are familiar with how to make a good self-introduction speech in under two minutes, it would be so easy that it comes natural to you.

Short Motivational Speeches

Short Motivational Speeches

Motivational speeches are excellent tools to teach, inspire, and even just to tell others what to do. However, not many of us have the time to devote to writing long or complicated motivational speeches. The ability to write a short, sweet, and inspiring motivational speech is a very useful one, and itā€™s one that will come in handy throughout your life, especially in places of leadership.

In this guide, weā€™ll introduce you to several useful motivational topics, the most important parts of a good motivational speech, and meaningful situations that motivational speeches can be used in.

Importance of Motivational Speeches

Motivational speeches are not something you have to give. Regardless of whether youā€™re a leader, someone else in a position of power, or otherwise, motivational speeches are completely optional. If you donā€™t have the time, energy, or inclination to give a motivational speech, itā€™s likely that nothing will change. However, you may be missing out on a powerful inspirational tool for employees, friends, or others.

If youā€™ve listened to a motivational speech yourself, youā€™ve probably felt the impact it can have on you firsthand. They can be the source of great change in your motivation, faith, and thoughts. As such, motivational speeches are particularly useful for bosses, directors, and other leaders. If theyā€™re something that you can employ for yourself, theyā€™re not an opportunity that you should neglect.

Why Do We Need Motivation?

Motivation plays a vital role in our everyday lives. However, motivation isnā€™t a given, either. We often need a bit of a push to keep us motivated, or we sometimes need a reminder of why weā€™re working so hard in the first place. When we lose our motivation, our performance in various areas is lost, too.

Furthermore, motivation is something that binds us together. Every single human being on Earth has felt motivated to do something at some point in their life, all the way back to the first humans who were motivated by the urge to hunt and mate. A well-crafted motivational speech is relatable, inspiring, and reminds us about these things that we fight for.

For the workplace especially, motivation is critical. If employees arenā€™t inspired to work at their full working capacity, the business isnā€™t making all the money it could be. Certain causes and non-profit organizations are also in the business of motivating people to turn their lives around.

Many aspects of our lives depend on motivation . Some examples of this are:

While keeping your employees, charges, friends, or peers motivated isnā€™t your responsibility, sometimes it can be in your best interest. Weā€™ll explore that further in the rest of this article.

Crafting a Motivational Speech

A motivational speech requires several key components to be successful and effective. In the following sections, weā€™ll go over the most important steps involved in creating a successful, impactful, and succinct motivational speech.

Finding a Topic

Finding a topic for your motivational speech is the very first thing you should do. Your topic should relate to your problem at hand or the issue youā€™re looking to address, of course. For example, if youā€™re an employer who is hoping to inspire your employees to work more productively, that should be your topic and your inspiration. If youā€™re a guest speaker looking to encourage smokers to quit, that will be your source.

Picking a topic for your motivational speech isnā€™t particularly complicated. The purpose of your speech will be to address a problem , after all. However, how you proceed from there is much more difficult. The next step will be to explain your purpose to your audience. How you do this is primarily up to you. If youā€™re the straightforward type, it can be as simple as telling your audience that the purpose of your speech is to get them to do something.

However, if you desire to be more creative, you also have the option of being a bit more subtle. You can try different things like:

  • Revealing your purpose at the end of your speech
  • Hinting at but not revealing your purpose
  • Forcing your audience to deduce your purpose from personal stories or other clues
  • Letting your audience take their own wisdom or purpose from your speech or story

Telling a Story

A significant part of a motivational speech is the inclusion of a story. After all, the draw of a motivational speech is a story for the listeners to compare themselves to and take something away from. If a story isnā€™t included in your motivational speech somehow, itā€™s no different than a lecture.

Since weā€™re concerned with creating short and succinct motivational speeches here, you must be careful which stories you choose. If you donā€™t have a relevant story to share thatā€™s short enough for your purposes, doing online research or asking friends for something is also a good idea. The story doesnā€™t necessarily have to be yours to be effective. You just have to make it relatable and relevant.

Barring length, which weā€™ve already addressed, not every story is effective for a motivational speech. The audience needs to be able to relate to the story, and the story itself needs to relate to the topic at hand, or else thereā€™s no point in telling it. Additionally, if your story doesnā€™t further the point youā€™re trying to make, it will simply use up more of the time you have to speak.

If possible, using a personal story or a story of someone close to you is best, because this is the type of story that you will relate to the most. When you relate to the story emotionally, you will be a much more effective speaker, and the audience will recognize this and respond to it. If you donā€™t have an applicable personal story, find something online that moves you and inspires you on its own, then work that into your speech.

As a last resort, you can consider making up a fictional story to tell your audience, but this isnā€™t always an applicable strategy. For example, if an employer were to make up a story to tell their employees, it wouldnā€™t be particularly useful, applicable, or even helpful. In the worst case, the employees might take the story as a threat of what might happen to them if they didnā€™t show greater performance.

Whether youā€™re looking to scare your employees or not is up to you, but thatā€™s not the purpose of a motivational speech. A motivational speech is meant to inspire people to take positive action, not scare them into behaving with veiled threats.

Finding Your Audience

Your audience is as much an integral part of your speech as the body of the speech itself is. If your audience cannot relate to your speech, it will have less of an effect or it wonā€™t have one at all. In the same way, trying to relate too hard to your audience can be a death sentence, too. Age is a particularly difficult one to follow, but there are hundreds of more variables that presenters need to keep in mind, too, such as:

  • Knowledgeability of the audience
  • Cultural factors and cues
  • Financial availability of the audience
  • Geographical factors

The delivery method you use to relate to your audience plays a role, as well. Particularly infamous is when older speakers try too hard to engage and relate to younger audiences. Avoid the trap of using too much hip lingo and trying to act like a younger generation; the same can apply for older generations, too. As long as you represent yourself well and speak respectfully and engagingly with your audience, your delivery will go over well.

To relate to your audience, rather than falling prey to the traps we mentioned above, consider what your audience needs instead. What is your audience getting out of your speech? Is your audience a group of employees who were forced to come to this speech, or is it a group of students who voluntarily came to listen to you?

Your speech is as much about your audience as it is about you. What can you offer to the audience by speaking to them? What do you want to offer to the audience? Is your speech being given to solve an existing problem, or is its purpose to impart wisdom? These questions and more are essential things to ask yourself as you decide how to deliver your speech.

Tie Things Together

Itā€™s very important to make sure the different parts of your speech all tie together when youā€™re crafting it. The greater points in your speech should relate to your story, your story should relate to your audience, and your final points should relate to everything mentioned above. This is doubly important since your motivational speech is meant to be short and sweet.

If your speech is all over the place or doesnā€™t tie together, your audience will not respect it and are unlikely to learn anything from it. Moreover, if your speech doesnā€™t make sense, your audience will likely zone out long before youā€™re done giving it.

Just as important as tying everything together is tying things together well. While overdoing things with your speech is a no-no, leaving it boring and clinical isnā€™t always appropriate, either. Your opening, ending, and overall tone should be compatible with your audience and the message youā€™re trying to convey.

Start Strong

The importance of the opening to a speech can never be underestimated. What kind of opening works best depends mostly upon your audience, however. Finding this perfect opening sequence is a crucial part of catching your audienceā€™s attention early on and holding that attention for the duration of the speech.

Picking a great opening to your speech is an excellent way to make it memorable, engaging, and interesting to your audience. If you really want to make an impact on your audience, this is the way to do it. Several effective strategies for crafting an effective opening are:

  • Asking your audience some thought-provoking questions
  • Citing a surprising or unbelievable statistic or fact
  • A meaningful or inspiring quote
  • A short and sweet anecdote

Since your motivational speech will be short, its opening is all the more important. You have even less time to introduce your audience to the topic, get them hooked, and pave the way for the rest of the speech. Itā€™s also worth noting that, if your audience needs background on a topic or idea in order to understand it, itā€™s important to provide that right away in a short motivational speech.

Be Succinct

Even in a longer motivational speech, itā€™s important to get right to the point and get your message across to your audience. No audience appreciates their time being wasted, so your motivational speech should be brief, to-the-point, and as condensed as possible without losing understanding, ease of conveyance, or meaning.

Your speech needs to be structured, easy to understand, and meaningful. This means avoiding excessive prose or sentences that donā€™t add to your point. Your structure should be clean, logical, and easy to follow regardless of the topic. Donā€™t decorate your speech much or at all. The purpose of your speech is to prove a point or to address a problem, after all.

When creating your speech, you should always be honest and real. If you write things into your speech that you donā€™t believe or subscribe to, your audience will know. If you canā€™t relate to or at least empathize with your own concepts, you may want to think about adjusting the subject of your speech. A normal speech might be able to get away with this, but a motivational speech depends very much upon being honest and touching the heart.

Your speech should feature a call to action, as well. What problem are you trying to solve? Is the issue youā€™ve identified wildlife preservation? If thatā€™s the case, perhaps your call to action should be for people to volunteer and donate their time towards saving our wildlife. Whenever youā€™re giving a motivational speech, make sure there is a course of action mentioned within to give your audience an easy route to follow.

Encourage your audience to engage with what youā€™ve talked to them about thus far. If your audience is a group of employees under your care, call them to work harder, find a solution to a problem, or improved conditions in the workplace for the benefit of the place as a whole. If your audience is a group of recovering smokers, call for quitting by reminding them of how their health is at stake.

Be Evocative

When youā€™re looking to engage and hook your audience, playing to their emotions is essential. Throughout your speech, you should be sure to use emotional language, use stories that evoke emotion, and help your audience relate to you emotionally as much as possible.

When your audience connects with you and your speech emotionally, that creates your best possible chance to hold your audienceā€™s attention, change the way they think, and influence the way they act going forward from the speech.

Emotions are an undeniable catalyst for inspiring action. Since this is the end goal of a motivational speech, you should thus try to evoke strong emotions in your audience whenever possible. Whether your speech plays on happiness, sadness, anger, or outrage, speaking to these emotions is an excellent way to craft your speech.

Besides involving your audienceā€™s emotions , it should involve their thoughts, too. Your speech should be designed around making your audience think in addition to making them feel. Present questions that your audience must think about twice to decide what they really believe, and keep them thinking even after your speech is finished.

This might seem like a tall order when youā€™re only creating a short speech, but making your audience think is essential. It can provide several benefits, such as:

  • Making your audience think about how they might be able to address your problem
  • Making your audience think about your points, come up with counterpoints, or consider solutions
  • Forcing your audience to consider how the issues youā€™ve presented might affect them

Write to Speech

The way you write work that will not be spoken out loud can be very different than work that is meant to be spoken. Often the case is that work thatā€™s not meant to be spoken doesnā€™t work as well when itā€™s spoken out loud. Thus, when youā€™re writing something that will be spoken as its end result, you should pay attention to this and make sure it works when spoken, too.

An excellent way to practice this and prepare your speech to be spoken out loud is to rehearse your speech as you write it. Saying your speech to yourself before the day of is an excellent way to catch wordy trip-ups or other issues before they matter.

If you can, take things a step further and practice your speech in the mirror, too, as this is an excellent way to improve your own charisma as you work. Charisma only works to improve your audienceā€™s involvement in your speech, so maximizing this skill should always be encouraged.

Do Your Research

There is absolutely no substitute for doing a thorough research when youā€™re crafting your motivational speech. If you skimp on your research and site unreliable or made-up facts during your presentation, your uncertainty will show through in your demeanor. Whatā€™s more, if a member of the audience catches a bad fact that you deliver, they might tune out, or worse, call you out on it during or after the speech.

You should also be prepared to cite things like clinical trials, the results of experiments, and any important metrics when giving your speech. Even if you donā€™t mention these citations out loud during the speech itself, you should be prepared to give them after the speech if any audience members are interested.

Being caught without your sources is an excellent way to fall into uncertainty or be discredited by your listeners. In the same way, make sure that you pull your statistics from reputable sites, as well. Sources and statistics are completely useless to you if theyā€™re unreputable or fake, to begin with.

Watch Your Language

When youā€™re crafting your speech, the language you use within it needs some special attention. The language you use might vary depending on your audience, but there are also a few more rules that you should follow. For example, try to avoid jargon within your speech as much as you can. If you must resort to specialized words or if you desire to teach them to the audience, make sure to provide background.

Leaving your audience unsure of what youā€™re talking about is an excellent way to lose them and waste the remainder of your speech. If your audience doesnā€™t feel like they can keep up with you, they will quickly zone out and think about other things.

Always respect your audience by using the best level of language that they can understand, but that still respects their intelligence. After all, you would use far different language when talking to a three-year-old than you would when talking to a teenager, right?

Delivering Your Speech

Once youā€™ve created the perfect short motivational speech, youā€™re still not quite done. If you want your speech to have maximum impact, the way you deliver it is just as important as the way you write it. There are many things you can do to maximize the delivery of your speech, and weā€™ll go over the best of these methods in this section.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Like we stated above, practicing your speech yourself is an excellent way to fine-tune how well you give it. Doing this in front of a mirror provides an extra bonus, or alternatively, you can give your speech in front of a video camera or in front of friends or family that you trust. Over time, practicing this way will improve the way you act and feel as you deliver your speeches, even going as far as boosting your own confidence.

Confidence while giving a speech is essential. Even if you have trouble with crowds, you should at least be confident in your delivery and confident in your material. While you practice your speech, though, be very careful not to craft a fake demeanor to use while you give your speech. Your audience will notice this, and they will be far more receptive to your speech and your message if youā€™re genuine and honest instead.

Prepare and Prepare Again

Even beyond practicing, there really is no replacement for preparing for any contingencies for your speech. You might lose your notecards on the day of, other speakers might run over time, or key people might fail to show up. You should be prepared for these scenarios and more when youā€™re going in to present your speech. Consider making preparations like:

  • Making extra sets of notecards
  • Preparing a shorter version of your speech
  • Preparing a longer version of your speech
  • Having questions on hand to address the audience with when your speech is over
  • Preparing for different noise levels in your venue

No one is a naturally perfect speaker. Excellent speakers are as good as they are because they take the time to prepare and practice again and again. While you may be able to give an average or good talk even if you skimp on practice and preparation, you will never be able to give an excellent talk this way.

The Delivery

Delivering your speech is an integral part of making it impactful, motivating, and relatable. If you sound unimpressed with or uninspired by your own speech, after all, your audience will inevitably feel the same. You should sound knowledgeable and confident in your material, but still passionate and even emotional about your chosen topic.

An excellent way to practice delivering the speech you want is to record yourself speaking, then play it back. You can deliver your speech in front of friends or family, too, but hearing it from your own mouth is especially helpful. Doing this is an excellent way to take a closer listen to your tone of voice, your vocal excitement and passion, and how well youā€™re getting your point across.

Examples of Short Motivational Speeches

1. matthew mcconaughey ā€“ this is why youā€™re not happy.

2. Peter Dinklage ā€˜Donā€™t Waitā€™

3. Lou Holtz ā€˜The 3 Rules to a Less Complicated Lifeā€™

4. Will Smith Self-Discipline Motivational Speech

5. Oprah Winfrey Motivational Speech

6. Jim Carrey Motivational Speech

A short motivational speech is a wonderful thing. Even a short speech can have an incredible, lasting effect on its listeners if itā€™s crafted and delivered the right way. Whatā€™s more, a motivational speech is an excellent way to address problems, brainstorm solutions, and get everyone involved in something and on the same page.

Of course, a motivational speech first and foremost duty is to motivate, and when done right, it doesnā€™t lack at this, either. If you take the proper time and care to craft your speech properly, in addition to knowing and respecting your audience, choosing a good story, and isolating a relevant topic, you will most assuredly be successful in crafting an effective speech that will absorb and motivate your chosen audience.

Speech on Believe In Yourself

Believing in yourself is like unlocking a secret superpower. Itā€™s the key to reaching your goals and dreams.

When you trust your abilities, you become unstoppable. So, letā€™s explore why itā€™s important to believe in yourself.

1-minute Speech on Believe In Yourself

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I stand before you today to speak on a topic that is as simple as it is profound, ā€˜Believe In Yourself.ā€™ Yes, this is an idea, a notion, a spark that can ignite a revolution within your world, shaping the trajectory of your life.

Each one of us has dreams, goals, objectives, and aspirations. However, more often than not, we find ourselves doubting our abilities or strengths. We question if we are capable enough to achieve our dreams. But remember, every great achiever, every successful individual started with two things ā€“ a dream and the belief in their ability to accomplish that dream.

Believing in ourselves is not about being overconfident or disregarding the advice and opinions of others. Instead, it is about having faith in our potential, trusting our journey, and understanding our worth. Itā€™s about knowing that we are more than capable of overcoming the obstacles that life throws at us.

In conclusion, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to say ā€“ believe in yourself, even when no one else does. Trust in your abilities, even when the world doubts you. Remember, you are your most significant supporter and your most cruel critic. The power to achieve your dreams lies within you. So stand tall, dream big, believe in yourself, and watch as the world unfolds its magic before you.

2-minute Speech on Believe In Yourself

Today Iā€™m here to speak on a topic that may sound simple but is incredibly profound ā€“ ā€˜Believe in Yourselfā€™. This phrase might appear as a clichĆ© in the world of motivational speeches, but its depth and impact on our lives are undeniable.

Belief in oneself is the very crux of our existence. Without it, we are like a rudderless ship in a stormy sea. Believing in yourself means acknowledging your own capabilities, understanding your strengths, and having faith in your own decisions. Itā€™s about trusting yourself enough to take that leap of faith.

Just imagine a world where Thomas Edison did not believe he could create the light bulb, where the Wright brothers did not believe they could make a plane fly or a world where Bill Gates did not believe in his vision of a computer in every home. These people achieved greatness because they believed in themselves and their vision, even when the world was skeptical.

What makes this belief so important? When we believe in ourselves, we set the stage for continuous growth and learning. It enables us to overcome the fear of failure, because we understand that failure is not a dead end, but a stepping stone to success. Self-belief empowers us to take risks and to venture into unknown territories with courage and confidence.

However, we often let self-doubt creep in, undermining our self-belief. We start questioning our abilities and skills. We let the opinions of others sway us, and we allow failure to dampen our spirit. This self-doubt acts like a chain, holding us back and preventing us from achieving our full potential.

How then, can we cultivate and strengthen this belief in ourselves? Firstly, we need to acknowledge our achievements, no matter how small they might seem. We must celebrate our victories, for they are the testament of our capabilities. Secondly, we must not let our failures define us. Instead, we should learn from them and use these lessons to grow. Lastly, we must surround ourselves with positivity, with people who support and believe in us.

In the words of the great American poet, E.E. Cummings, ā€œOnce we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.ā€

So, with this, I urge each one of you, to believe in who you are, believe in where you want to be and believe that you possess the strength within you to make your dreams come true. And remember, to believe in yourself is the first secret to success.

Speech on Importance of Self Confidence 1:

Good (morning/afternoon/evening), everyone. Imagine waking up every day feeling assured in your abilities, ready to tackle challenges head-on. Thatā€™s the essence of self-confidence. Today, weā€™re going to explore what self-confidence truly means, why itā€™s important, and how we can cultivate it in our lives. Let me share a quick personal story: there was a time when I struggled to speak in public. Overcoming that fear was a journey, but it taught me the value of self-confidence and its impact on personal growth.

Self-confidence is the belief in oneā€™s own abilities and judgement. Itā€™s not about being perfect but about trusting ourselves to handle whatever comes our way. Why is this so important? Self-confidence fuels resilience, drives success, and enhances our overall well-being. When we believe in ourselves, weā€™re more likely to take on new challenges and persevere through difficulties.

To further grasp the concept of self confidence, we can look at a real life example.

Consider the story of J.K. Rowling, who faced numerous rejections before ā€œHarry Potterā€ became a global phenomenon. Her perseverance and self-confidence in her work eventually led to immense success. This example highlights how self-confidence can transform setbacks into stepping stones and achieve remarkable outcomes.

Letā€™s look at some tips you can use to boost your confidence:

First one is Self-Reflection: Regularly assess your progress and acknowledge your achievements. Reflecting on your growth helps reinforce your self-belief.

Second is Practice: Engage in activities that push you out of your comfort zone. The more you practice, the more confident youā€™ll become in your abilities.

Third point is to Seek Feedback: Constructive feedback is a valuable tool for growth. Use it to identify areas for improvement and build on your strengths.

And the last one to Celebrate Successes: Take time to celebrate your victories, no matter how minor. Recognising and rewarding yourself fosters a positive self-image.

You also need to be wary of some hurdles that may hinder your growth and act as a barrier to self-confidence. Common barriers to self-confidence include fear of failure and self-doubt. To overcome these, focus on setting realistic goals, embracing failures as learning opportunities, and surrounding yourself with supportive people who encourage your growth.

In summary , self-confidence is a crucial component of personal success and well-being. By understanding its key components and applying practical strategies, we can build and sustain confidence in ourselves. Remember, the journey to self-confidence is ongoing, and every step you take brings you closer to your full potential. Speech on the Importance of Self Confidence 2:

Hello everyone. Imagine standing in front of a crowd, feeling completely at ease, knowing that you have the skills and confidence to succeed. This isnā€™t just a dreamā€”itā€™s what self-confidence can offer. Today, weā€™ll delve into what self-confidence really is, why it matters, and how each of us can cultivate it. I once doubted my ability to lead a team, but embracing self-confidence allowed me to grow into that role and achieve success.

Self-confidence is the inner assurance that we can handle challenges and make sound decisions. Itā€™s not about arrogance but about a realistic belief in our abilities. Why is this vital? Self-confidence can transform our approach to problems, enhance our performance, and improve our interactions with others. When we believe in ourselves, we are more likely to take initiative and persist in the face of obstacles. When it comes to Self Confidence, it is important to take note of itā€™s key components and what make up or help build self-confidence in an individual.

Self awareness is the key step to this. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses helps you build a solid foundation of self-confidence. Itā€™s about having a clear sense of your capabilities and areas where you can improve.

Maintaining a positive outlook and encouraging yourself through affirmations can greatly enhance self-confidence. Itā€™s about shifting from self-criticism to self-support.

Along with this, Setting and achieving goals, even small ones, reinforces our belief in our abilities. Every accomplishment adds to our confidence and motivates us to set new challenges.

Above everything else, Learning to bounce back from setbacks is crucial. Resilience turns failures into growth opportunities and strengthens our confidence over time.

When it comes to self-confidence, I can think of no other person who would be more suitable as a live example, other than Steve Jobs. He faced numerous failures before revolutionising technology with Apple. His unwavering self-confidence and vision allowed him to overcome these hurdles and make a significant impact. This example illustrates how self-confidence can lead to extraordinary achievements despite facing numerous obstacles.

Now, you might be thinking, how do I effectively inculcate all these values within my lifestyle so that I can ultimately become a more self-confident person. You need not worry. By the end of this speech, you will be fully ready to transform yourself and make you a better version of who you are.

Self Reflection is the key. Regularly review your progress and achievements. Reflecting on how far youā€™ve come can boost your self-esteem and reinforce your confidence.

Challenge Yourself . Step out of your comfort zone by trying new activities or taking on new responsibilities. Each challenge you face builds confidence.

Take time to celebrate your successes, regardless of size. Recognising and appreciating your achievements fosters a positive self-image.

Common barriers to self-confidence include fear of failure and negative self-talk. To address these, focus on realistic goal-setting, view failures as learning experiences, and practice self-compassion. Surround yourself with supportive individuals who uplift and encourage you.

Itā€™s about having a clear view of what you can achieve and where you can grow. Positive self-talk is also crucial. The way you speak to yourself impacts your confidence. Positive affirmations and a constructive inner dialogue can help you maintain a strong sense of self-belief. Setting and achieving clear goals builds confidence too. Each success, no matter how small, contributes to a stronger belief in your abilities. Resilience is another key factor. Viewing setbacks as learning opportunities rather than failures can strengthen your confidence and prepare you for future challenges.

New Employee Self Introduction Speech

What Is a New Employee Self Introduction Speech?

A new employee needs to give a self-introduction speech because it allows them to introduce themselves to their colleagues, and also allows them to articulate what their goals and ambitions are for their role at the company.

A self-introduction speech should be short and concise and include information about the new employeeā€™s background, education, and experience. The new employee should also outline their goals for their role at the company and explain how they plan on contributing to the team.

Why Itā€™s Important to Introduce Yourself to a New Team

In the mosaic of workplace dynamics, a new joinee speech is akin to a personal press release, broadcasting your unique value proposition. Itā€™s an unveiling that transforms you from a rĆ©sumĆ© into a colleague, providing a narrative that goes beyond your LinkedIn profile or CV .

Launching your tenure with a well-composed new employee self-introduction speech can propel you beyond the generic ā€˜newbieā€™ status and embed you firmly within the company culture. Itā€™s your initial step towards weaving your personal brand into the fabric of the companyā€™s culture, which can catalyze your transition from outsider to insider.

What Should You Include in Your New Employee Self Introduction Speech?

When introducing yourself to a new company, itā€™s important to put your best foot forward and make a good first impression. In your speech, you should highlight your strengths and accomplishments and explain why youā€™re excited to be a part of the team.

You should also mention any unique skills or experience you bring to the table and express your enthusiasm for working with your new colleagues. Finish by thanking the company for giving you this opportunity, and let them know that youā€™re looking forward to contributing to their success.

The key things to include in your new employee self introduction speech are:

  • State your name and position.
  • Briefly describe your education and work experience .
  • Outline your skills and strengths.
  • Share a little about your personal life (family, hobbies, interests).
  • Thank the audience for their time and say youā€™re looking forward to getting to know them better.

New employee self introduction speech example :

ā€œHello everyone, My name is John Smith, and Iā€™m the new marketing manager. I have a degree in marketing from XYZ University, and Iā€™ve worked as a marketing consultant for the past 5 years. In my previous role, I was responsible for developing and implementing marketing campaigns for my clients. Some of my key strengths include strategic planning, creative thinking, and project management. Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, and playing tennis. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to working with you and contributing to the companyā€™s success.ā€

9 Ways to Make a Great Introduction

Here are nine tips for how to introduce yourself :

1. Describe your environment in your introduction

When youā€™re new to a company, making a good first impression is important. One way to do this is by basing your introduction on your environment. By observing your surroundings and taking note of your colleaguesā€™ behavior, youā€™ll be able to adjust your behavior accordingly.Ā

For example

If youā€™re new to a team, you could say something like:

ā€œIā€™m excited to be here and canā€™t wait to learn more about what you do.ā€

If youā€™re new to a company, you could say,

ā€œIā€™m excited to join the team and canā€™t wait to contribute to the companyā€™s success.ā€

2. Be genuine

When you introduce yourself, it is essential to remember to be yourself. Donā€™t try to be someone youā€™re notā€”it will be obvious, and people will respond more positively to the genuine you.

Instead, be to the point and authentic, and people will appreciate your straightforwardness. The most important thing is to be comfortable in your skin; the rest will follow naturally.Ā

ā€œHi, my name is Adam, and Iā€™m new here. Iā€™m excited to learn about the company and contribute to its success. Thanks!ā€

3. Utilize the orientation program

A new job is always an exciting time. Itā€™s a chance to learn new things, meet new people, and build new skills. The new employee orientation program is one of the first things youā€™ll likely encounter at your new job.

This program is designed to help new employees learn more about the company and its culture. Itā€™s also a great opportunity to meet other new employees and begin building relationships.

So be sure to take advantage of this program and use it as an opportunity to network. Attend all the events, introduce yourself to other new employees, and ask questions.Ā

ā€œMy name is John, and I just joined the company last week. The orientation program was a great way for me to learn more about the company and meet other new employees. Iā€™m looking forward to contributing to the teamā€™s success.ā€

4. Ask for a team introduction

One way to formally introduce yourself to a new team is by asking for a team introduction from your manager or team leader.

Itā€™s a good opportunity to learn more about your teammates and what they do. Doing this will give you a feel for the team dynamic and see how you fit into it.

Additionally, it shows that you are eager to get to know your teammates and are invested in the teamā€™s success.

ā€œIā€™m Mike, the new engineer, and Iā€™m excited to join the team. As an engineer, I bring a variety of skills and knowledge to the table that can be of benefit to the team. In addition, I have experience in design and implementation, and my goal is always to create efficient, effective solutions that meet the customerā€™s needs. I look forward to collaborating with everyone on the team and contributing my skills to our shared goal of success. Thanks for having me aboard!ā€

5. Introduce yourself to other teams.

Being new to a company can be intimidating. You donā€™t know the lay of the land or who does what. But, itā€™s important to introduce yourself to your team and other teams in the same department to get a feel for your new workplaceā€™s environment .

This is a great way to network and build relationships with people in the department. To do this, find the leaders of other teams and reach out to them for an introduction.Ā

ā€œHi, Iā€™m the new account manager of this company, and I was wondering if you could introduce me to your team. Iā€™d love to learn more about what they do.ā€

6. Find more opportunities for introductions

There are many opportunities for introductions. You could also introduce yourself to people you see in the hallways or the cafeteria. If your workstation is in a shared space, you might start a conversation with someone at the next desk.

Whether through formal or informal channels, getting to know as many colleagues as possible can help you feel more comfortable and confident in your work environment.Ā

Before the meeting begins, you can amiably introduce yourself to others nearby.

ā€œHello, Iā€™m John, the new account manager. Can you tell me what weā€™ll be talking about at this meeting?ā€

You might get a formal introduction from your manager to the participants during the meeting. In this situation, make things quick so the discussion may continue.

ā€œHello, my name is John. I am a new copywriter, and itā€™s a pleasure to collaborate with you.ā€

7. Ask questions

Asking work-related questions is a great way to learn about your new company and build relationships with coworkers. This shows that youā€™re curious and want to learn more about the company.

In addition, itā€™s a good way to get to know your colleagues and build relationships . So next time youā€™re meeting someone new, donā€™t be afraid to ask some questions!

ā€œHi, Iā€™m new here. What is your role at the company?ā€Ā orĀ ā€œWhat team do you work on?ā€

8. Get the companyā€™s organizational chart

When starting a new company, getting to know the different departments and teams is important.

One way to do this is by getting the new companyā€™s organizational chart. This will give you an overview of the different departments and teams and who the leaders are. This is a great resource to have when youā€™re introducing yourself to people in other departments.

By getting the organizational chart, you can familiarize yourself with your new company and learn about the different people and departments.

ā€œIā€™m new to the company and was wondering if you could tell me more about your team. Iā€™ve heard great things about the work youā€™re doing.ā€

9. Send follow-up emails

When you meet someone new, itā€™s always a good idea to follow up with an email. This helps to solidify the relationship and shows that youā€™re interested in staying in touch.

In your email, you could include a brief recap of what you talked about and other relevant information, such as your contact information or links to your website or blog.Ā

ā€œHey John,Ā  It was delightful to make your acquaintance on my first day in the office. Thank you so much for being detail-oriented and providing such helpful information. I truly appreciate it! If there is ever anything I can do to return the favor, please donā€™t hesitate to let me know. I am always there to help you out.Ā  Wishing you all the best,Ā  Adamā€

  • Example: ā€œGood morning, team! Itā€™s wonderful to meet everyone.ā€

Step 2: State Your Name and Role

  • Example: ā€œI am [Your Name], your new [Your Job Title].ā€

Step 3: Provide Your Background

Briefly summarize your professional background to build credibility.

  • Example: ā€œIā€™ve spent the past [number] years working in [your previous job/industry], where I honed my skills in [your specialty].ā€

Step 5: Add a Personal Touch

Include a personal tidbit that resonates with your professional persona and makes you relatable.

  • Example: ā€œOutside of work, I enjoy [personal interest], which I believe reflects the creativity and energy I bring to my professional life.ā€

Step 6: Invite Connections

Encourage your new teammates to engage with you beyond the speech.

  • Example: ā€œIā€™m eager to learn about your roles and how we might work together, so please feel free to reach out anytime.ā€

Step 7: Close Graciously

End with a thank you and a positive outlook.

Step 8: Offer an Opening for Interaction

Make yourself approachable and open for future conversations.

  • Example: ā€œMy door is always open, and Iā€™m just an email or a quick chat away.ā€

Hereā€™s a simplified template that encapsulates these steps:

Tips on How to Introduce Yourself

  • Master your non-verbals : Stand tall, maintain eye contact, and offer a firm handshake; these gestures project assurance and set a tone of professionalism.
  • Modulate your voice : Employ a clear, friendly tone to engender warmth and openness; how you say something is as impactful as what you say.
  • Incorporate relevant personal stories : Share anecdotes that reflect your values or work ethicā€”such narratives can foster connections and make you memorable.

First Meeting with Supervisors: Showcasing Your Professionalism

Meeting your supervisors often involves navigating a blend of formality and personable interaction. A nuanced self-introduction can establish your credibility and demonstrate your readiness to contribute meaningfully.

Tips for a Self-Introduction Speech with Higher-ups

  • Tailor your content : Highlight aspects of your background that resonate with your new role and align with the companyā€™s strategic objectives.

Related Questions:

Can an introduction be one sentence.

Yes. Just give your name and then your question. There is no reason to list all your credentials first. Thatā€™s boring and drawn out. You should know about the community that youā€™re applying for. You donā€™t need to list the fact you are a school teacher, that you have a degree in English, that you have a spouse and 2 kids. All of that stuff is irrelevant when it comes to what you want to know, and youā€™re just wasting space.

Can Introduction Be Two Paragraphs?

Yes. The introduction is a paragraph. Thatā€™s the whole rule. With that said, it can be two paragraphs, it can be ten paragraphs, and it can be a page. The length of your introduction is dependent on several factors: who you are writing for, how much time you have to write, how detailed you want to get, and how much detail your reader can absorb.

With that said, letā€™s take a look at a few examples of great introductions: 1. This is the best, most concise introduction Iā€™ve ever read. Not only is the information short and sweet, but it gets right to the point and shows exactly what the reader has to do, and why itā€™s important.

Speech on Mother Tongue

Speech on mother tongue: Our mother tongue, the language we first learn to speak and understand, is more than just a means of communication. It’s a cultural heritage, a connection to our roots, and a reflection of our identity. In this blog post, we’ll explore the significance of mother tongues, the challenges they face in today’s globalised world, and the importance of preserving and promoting linguistic diversity.

Long Speech on Mother Tongue

Good morning to all the respected teachers and students,Today I’m here to present my thoughts on a universal topic: mother tongue. Our mother tongue is the first language we learn and speak as children, and it moulds our thoughts, attitudes, and understanding of the world. It is more than simply a means of communication; it serves as the foundation for our intellectual and emotional development.Ā

The mother tongue is our first door into the world because it allows us to convey our feelings and emotions. Mother tongue is the source of lifetime memories. It is our first language, and it helps us understand the world around us. One of the most important reasons to preserve your mother tongue is because it helps shape our personalities. It carries the history, culture, and memories with it. In an increasingly globalised society, preserving our linguistic heritage helps us maintain a sense of belonging and community.

However, the mother tongue has a significant role in cognitive development. According to research, children who are educated in their mother tongue from an early age perform better academically. It promotes good literacy, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. The cognitive benefits contribute to a strong foundation for continuous learning throughout life.

In the modern day, knowing more than two languages is vital, but it should not come at the expense of our mother tongue. Learning languages, in addition to your mother tongue, will offer you the best of both worlds, which is required to thrive in this world. The preservation of mother tongues contributes to cultural diversity and richness. According to a UNESCO report, nearly half of the world’s 7,000 languages are under threat of extinction. The loss of languages is causing the fading away of various cultures and communities.Ā

One must preserve one’s mother tongue for the sake of our own heritage. Policies that promote cultural programmes or celebrate linguistic diversity should receive more focus. Aside from government programmes, we should all try to maintain our individual heritage. We can make a united effort to speak our mother tongue at home and teach our children. We can help our linguistic communities thrive and remain strong by celebrating our linguistic history through cultural programmes and reading books in our native language.

Finally, our mother tongue is a priceless gift that serves as the foundation of our identity. Let us maintain and preserve our mother tongues by understanding their significance in our lives. By doing so, we honour our past, improve our present, and secure our future.

Thank You!

Short Speech on Mother Tongue

Good morning to all the teachers and students, Today, I am privileged to speak about the immense value of the mother tongue. The mother tongue is more than just a means of communication; it serves as the cornerstone of our identities. We first learn to convey our thoughts and opinions in our mother tongue. Our mother tongue carries the wisdom and essence of our traditions. Through this language, we share stories, pass down history, and preserve our ideals.

In today’s society, preserving our language heritage is critical for maintaining a sense of belonging and community. Furthermore, the mother tongue is essential for cognitive and academic growth. Research has indicated that people who learn their mother tongue during their early childhood perform significantly better academically and have a stronger grasp of linguistic skills.

However, many of the world’s languages are in danger of extinction as people become increasingly unaware of their linguistic background. It is our shared responsibility to nurture and preserve our mother tongues. Individuals should use their mother tongue on a regular basis in order to keep it alive in their hearts. More involvement in cultural programmes will benefit us in this regard.Ā As individuals, we can contribute by speaking our mother tongue at home, teaching it to our children, and honouring our linguistic history through literature, art, and cultural events. By doing so, we ensure that our linguistic communities remain vibrant and resilient. Mother language is a priceless gift to us, and we must cherish and honour it to ensure a stable future.

Thank You!

Starmer Warns of ā€˜Painfulā€™ Budget to Rebuild UK Finances

  • Prime minister speaks ahead of Parliamentā€™s return next week
  • Says economic inheritance is ā€˜worse than we ever imaginedā€™

Keir Starmer warned that his governmentā€™s October budget statement will be ā€œpainfulā€ and asked the nation to accept ā€œshort-term pain for long-term good,ā€ as the prime minister used his first major speech in office to lay the ground for likely tax rises.

ā€œThings are worse than we ever imagined,ā€ Starmer said in Downing Street on Tuesday, blaming the need to rebuild UK public finances on what he called ā€œ14 years of rotā€ under the previous Conservative government. ā€œItā€™s going to be painful. We have no other choice, given the situation that weā€™re in.ā€

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer signals tax rises coming as he warns of 'painful' budget

Speaking from the rose garden in Downing Street, Sir Keir Starmer gave the biggest hint yet that taxes would be raised on 30 October. He did, however, repeat his election promise that taxes would not go up for "working people".

Sir Keir Starmer says the forthcoming budget will be 'painful'

The October budget will be "painful", Sir Keir Starmer has said, giving the biggest hint yet of tax rises.

Speaking from Downing Street on Tuesday, the prime minister said: "I will be honest with you, there is a budget coming in October and it's going to be painful."

He added: "Just as when I responded to the riots, I'll have to turn to the country and make big asks of you to accept short-term pain for long-term good. The difficult trade-off for the genuine solution."

The Conservatives have accused the prime minister of a "betrayal" of people's trust after he promised not to raise taxes.

Tory leader and former prime minister Rishi Sunak posted on social media: "Keir Starmer's speech today was the clearest indication of what Labour has been planning to do all along - raise your taxes."

The prime minister referenced the "£22bn black hole" in the nation's finances - that he said the Office for Budget Responsibility did not know about - as he took aim at the last government.

"I said change would not happen overnight," Sir Keir said. "When there is a deep rot at the heart of a structure, you can't just cover it up... you have to overhaul the entire thing, tackle it at root. Even if it's hard work or takes more time."

PM offers clue on which taxes might rise - as he makes early case for two terms in power

Sir Keir Starmer is asking for more time and to trust him.

As expected, the prime minister used his speech this morning to lay the blame for the myriad problems in this country on 14 years of Tory rule.

He said successive Conservative governments allowed a "rot" to set in that will take a decade to reverse - which is essentially an ask for two terms in power.

But he also spoke about bringing honesty and integrity back into politics and with that sentiment, he made a pretty stark admission.

He described the budget that's coming in October as "painful" and especially for those "with the broadest shoulders" - the biggest clue so far about where there might be tax rises.

And too, an explanation for what Starmer calls "difficult choices" as he asks the public to "accept short-term pain for long-term good".

Asked by Sky News' political editor Beth Rigby which specific tax rises are being considered, Sir Keir reiterated that taxes on "working people" - like income tax, VAT and national insurance - will not go up.

He added: "We have to get away from this idea that the only levers that can be pulled are more taxes, or more spending.

"Our number one mission is to grow the economy."

The prime minister was speaking from the rose garden at Downing Street - previously used by Boris Johnson's adviser Dominic Cummings after he broke COVID lockdown rules , and also where gatherings took place during partygate.

This appeared to be a deliberate choice, as Sir Keir said: "This is a government for you, a garden and a building that were once used for lockdown parties.

"Remember the pictures? Just over there? With the wine and the food. Well, this garden and this building are now back in your service."

Sir Keir has repeatedly blamed the previous government and said it is influencing his decision-making.

This includes the means testing of the winter fuel payments for pensioners.

'Betrayal of people's trust

The government's claims of a £22bn "black hole" left by the Tories have been questioned following substantial pay awards to unions - including to both junior doctors and train drivers .

Sir Keir said he "didn't want to means test the winter fuel payment", but it was a choice that needed to be made to "protect the most vulnerable pensioners".

Laura Trott, the Conservatives' shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, said: "The government are no longer promising to protect working people from their incoming tax raid because just like pensioners, working families are next in line for Labour's tax hikes.

"After promising over 50 times in the election not to raise taxes on working people Labour are now rolling the pitch to break even more promises.

"The chancellor is entitled to raise taxes to pay for her expensive choices and above inflation pay rises demanded by her union paymasters, but she should have had the courage to be honest from the start.

"This a betrayal of people's trust and we will hold them to account for their actions."
