The Sims 4 Get to Work: First Day at the Detective Career

One of the new careers that comes with The Sims 4 Get to Work is the Detective career. The first day at the Detective career begins at takes place from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on every day from Monday to Friday. When it is time for your Sim to leave for work, you will receive a prompt asking you whether you want to follow them to work or send them alone. If you opt to send them alone, it will function just like a regular career. If, however, you choose to go with them, you can control them throughout the work day.

After a short loading screen, your Sim will arrive at the Police Station. By default, it cannot be customized, but using the cheat “bb.freebuildmode” will unlock Build Mode and it will be yours to change as you want. When playing the Detective career with a new Sim for the first time, there will always be a set chain of tasks to follow. The first task is to use the computer to Get a Case Assignment. Afterwards, your Sim will be asked to use the computer to Travel to Crime Scene.

Your Sim will then be taken to any random occupied residential lot in the game. This career gives you a reason to care about the other houses and households in the game. At the crime scene, you will be asked to Collect Clues, Get Reports from Witnesses and Take Crime Scene Pictures. Once your Sim has completed enough goals, they will be asked to return to Police Station. You can send them back by clicking on them and selecting Return to Police Station.

On returning to the Police Station, your Sim’s next task will be to analyze the evidence using the Chemical Analyzer. You can do this by clicking on one of the Chemical Analyzers and selecting Analyze Evidence, then selecting a piece of evidence in your inventory from the list. If the first attempt isn’t successful, just try again with a different piece of evidence.

Next, your Sim will be asked to File Crime Scene Evidence at a Computer. This is straightforward: just click the computer and select File Crime Scene Evidence.

At the end of the day, your Sim will be send home with pay. It’s time to rest up for next time!

You don't have to join your Sim when they go to work, but you'll need to go a few times if you want them to make any progress in their career. As a detective, your Sim will need to solve cases and bust bad guys and you can't expect a Sim's AI to be able to handle that alone.

Follow Your Sim To Work Or Send Them Alone

One of the interactive careers introduced in Get to Work, the Detective career is The Sims 4's take on a police career, allowing you to watch your Sim work their way up the ranks to reach the top brass.

When you join your Sim and travel along to the police station, you'll realize that the game really streamlines the world of being a detective. You will get a menu in the top-left of your screen with various tasks that you must complete in order to raise your job performance.

These tasks range from simply socializing with your colleagues to undertaking actual detective work. As you get promoted up the ladder, you'll get to do more things such as arresting suspects and solving cases.

Remember that you can hover your mouse over any task to receive hints and tips about how to complete it.

• Make sure your workday is varied! You'll have tasks that involve desk work, processing criminals, and listening to the rants of civilians - try to get as many tasks done in one area at once to save time.
• Going on Patrol might seem useful as it raises performance with little effort, but it's time-consuming. Only do this when it's a promotion requirement .
• When you have tasks that require socialization, such as " Get Witness Report ," the correct option should appear immediately when clicking on a target.
• If you manage to be Focused while at work, you become more efficient at your job. To enable this, try placing items with Focusing auras around your office.

If you find yourself running out of time to complete all of your allotted tasks, you can extend the workday by clicking the button next to the timer. This button can also be used to leave work early if you're particularly expedient with your daily tasks.

In order to go to a Crime Scene, click on the Crime Map in the office. Once you're at the Crime Scene, you will be presented with a new list of objectives that will let you gain clues for your current case and progress your performance bar.

• Click the ground to search for clues . These might be suspicious items or pieces of graffiti.
• When you have found clues, you should take samples and take photographs of them to get as much evidence as possible.
• You will also have to question witnesses . Look around for them, as they can sometimes be hard to find. You will know if a Sim is a potential witness if you get the option to interview them on your first click.

Once you have completed all of the tasks at the Crime Scene, you can click on your Sim and return to the office. There, you should file the Crime Scene Evidence on your computer.

The Sims 4: How To Fill Out Reports

If you're in the business career, then your Sim will need to know how to fill out reports. Here's a quick step-by-step guide.

Solving a case is the end result after lots of police work that involves searching crime scenes, pondering clues on the Crime Board, and finally Issuing an APB . This can only be done when you have enough evidence collected and will take you to a location where the suspect can be found.

When out and about, you need to use your phone's notebook feature to keep track of all of your clues . These will be things like the suspect's hair color and gender - these will lead you to your suspect.

Talk to people to find out things about them, and when you think you have your target identified, arrest them .

Once arrested and taken to the station, you need to interrogate your suspect . You can take a few different methods (Good Cop, Bad Cop, etc.) but rely on evidence, and you should make them crack eventually - assuming you caught the right Sim of course!

If you can extract a confession from a guilty Sim, you'll have solved your first case . Congratulations!

Progressing through the Detective Career is spelled out quite simply for you in the career menu. The first few ranks of the career are varied, but it quickly becomes focused on solving cases. The table below details each rank of the Detective Career and their promotion requirements.

As you progress through the Detective Career, you will earn a ton of rewards. In addition to cash bonuses, you can acquire new clothes and new items.

To wear your new clothes, you can edit your outfits with a wardrobe or a mirror . The item rewards are inserted directly into your household inventory, but you can buy extras once you've acquired one.

Along with cash rewards, you'll slowly but surely unlock everything you need to build your own jail if you aren't using Build/Buy cheats to access them early.

Detective Career in Sims 4: From a Cop on a Patrol to Solving Crime Cases

Get ready for some brainstorming and roll up your sleeves. It’s time to collect evidence, interview witnesses, and solve detective cases! The Detective Career has 10 levels, is one of the three active careers featured in the Sims 4: Get to Work , and quite an interactive one. This career is not to be confused with the  Secret Agent  career, which is an entirely different career track. This is a completely different experience!

Unlike the majority of careers in Sims 4, Detective Career in Sims 4: Learn How to Fight Crime Like a Real Cop doesn’t have branches and doesn’t require learning special skills. Instead, Sims have to show up to work, go to crime scenes, interrogate suspects, and put in the effort in solving cases to get ahead.

If your Sim chooses to join law enforcement, you can expect many cool rewards, a lot of thinking, integration, analysis, and long working hours. As a player, you will follow them every step of their way as they complete promotion tasks. Now, let’s find out what detective career is about!

Getting ready for work

Once your Sim gets the job, their detective career success will be influenced by their mood, and their prompt actions when on the field. Being focused is everything, so make sure you get them as focused as possible before work. Telescope and microscope prints, as well as mathematical diagrams , will definitely help you when you’re trying to raise your Sim’s focus. Make them once, save them, hang them in their office, and view them every time before work to get the ultimate mood boost.

Alternatively, you can make them practice yoga, research gardening, drink pitch black tea, and play chess , to make them more alert and increase their chances of successfully completing daily career tasks.

completing promotion tasks

Your Sim will start going to crime scenes early in their detective career, but they will need a helping hand from more experienced cops and won’t be able to solve cases alone until level 4. They will also need to go on patrol , and their task will be to intervene with civilians. To go on your first patrol, just use the PC at your workplace and click Go on Patrol. This will send them to a neighborhood where they will have to talk to random townies and issue citations . They’ll mostly have to deal with troublesome Sims and fights, so get ready to deal with some volatile Sims.

However, the majority of their career tasks will revolve around solving cases . They’ll be required to go to their first crime scene right away, and by level 3 your Sim must be ready to successfully interrogate a suspect. From level 4 to 9, you will already be heavily focused on solving cases.

To advance in the detective career, you will have a few small career objectives every workday. These boost job performance, but not all of them will have an impact on the case, unless they are connected to it. For instance, getting fingerprints or analyzing evidence will be helpful both for solving the case your Sim is working on and for boosting their performance. Some other tasks, such as exercising at the gym, won’t help you make progress on your case. They will all boost career performance and bring you one step closer to promotion, it’s just more efficient to focus on objectives that do both. Now, let’s see how to solve crimes, step by step.

1. Arriving at a crime scene

Getting a case assignment is the first step in fighting crime in the detective career, so make sure you get your assignment on your computer. You will see the ”Travel to Crime Scene” option when you click on the detective board, and this will take your Sim to a random crime scene lot. Once you get there, pay attention to your environment and examine the crime scene thoroughly to get evidence. Detective career is all about connecting the dots, so your task will be to collect four types of evidence: fingerprints, witness reports, evidence samples and evidence pictures .

2. collecting evidence at the crime scene

Let’s start collecting evidence! To dust for fingerprints click on objects on the crime scene, to take witness reports , question a witness Sim on the crime scene, and to collect evidence samples , and take evidence pictures look for random objects found on the ground at the crime scene. Look for odd, old-looking pieces of clothing and dusty objects.

When taking reports, make sure you question everyone near the crime scene if you have the option to take reports shown when you click on them. You will have a list of objectives you need to meet when at the crime scene, but if you spot something strange make sure you investigate it. You never know when extra information can come in handy in the future! All collected evidence will be useful when solving detective career cases.

3. Analyzing evidence to get cues

Once all evidence is collected, you’ll need to analyze it to collect cues. Fingerprints and evidence samples need to be processed using the chemical analyzer. Crime scene photos and witness reports, on the other hand, have to go through a scanning and be processed on the PC. You will need to input the data collected during the investigation, and you can do so by choosing the Cross Reference Police Database on the PC.

The detective cork board is everything for a real detective. Once all evidence is analyzed, it’s important to pin cues to the detective board . This will help your Sim gain insight and learn valuable information about the suspect, such as their personality traits, gender, what they wear, or how they look. If you find new cues, always return to the board to pin them. If you use Deduce Clues interaction on the detective career board, you may get more valuable information about the suspect.

4. arresting the suspect

If your Sim has worked hard, collected a bunch of evidence and now has enough cues to work with you will see an ”Issue APB’ ‘ option, which will take you to your suspect. As they are working to advance in the detective career, your Sim will have to ”match the dots” and connect cues with the suspect. You can always access notes about the current case you’re working on and the suspect on the phone under Detective Career.

For instance, if your suspect has black hair, wears a long sleeve, and has an Ambitious trait, you’ll have to make sure they are the right person by observing them and discovering their traits. If you don’t have enough evidence, your Sim can arrest the wrong person, so make sure to be detailed with your work.

5. the interrogation

The suspect is arrested, and now they will be taken to the police station where you’ll need to interrogate them in the interrogation room. This works like in movies: your Sim will be sitting face to face with the suspect, asking them questions and trying to get information from them. You will have a few detective career interactions available.

You can take on the role of the good cop or the bad cop who’s unafraid to send shivers down the suspect’s spine. For instance, you can ask them for stressful riddles, intimidate them, ask for bribes, or dangle handcuffs in front of them. Good cops will be more polite and sly when asking about the victim, can offer a candy bar, and make false promises in their attempt to get the suspect to start talking. Either way, you’ll get the information needed.

You will see a conversation bar in the upper middle of your screen where you can track interrogation progress. Once it’s full, you’ll get the option to get the confession from the suspect and close the case.

Ideal Mood, Traits, and Rewards for the Detective Career

The Detective Career requires concentration. The ideal mood for ensuring faster advancement in this career field is Focused . Genius Sims often gets Focused randomly, which can help boost career performance.

Detectives are expected to read personalities well, so the most helpful satisfaction reward you can purchase is Observant , which can be purchased for 500 satisfaction points. This will help them read the personality traits of suspects right off the bat, without having to get to know them much.

The Sims 4 is a life simulation game where players are given the opportunity to create virtual characters and build their dream world. Not only does the game let players create Sims but they also have the freedom to customize their personalities and choose their careers . In fact, The Sims 4 is renowned for its extensive character customization options.

CAS is the mode where players can modify the appearance of their Sims, edit their family relationships, change their traits , and do much more. Read the following guide to learn how to enter the Create-a-Sim (CAS) mode in The Sims 4.

How to Access the CAS Mode in The Sims 4

It goes without saying that The Sims 4 won’t be as enjoyable if Sims had only a handful of hairstyles and outfits to choose from. The CAS mode, on the other hand, enables gamers to change the traits or features of their Sims whenever they want to. This way, Simmers can customize the personality of a Sim however they want. However, the CAS mode is only accessible through cheats.

Enabling Cheats

It is important to enable cheats before using them. The key combos for activating cheats vary depending on the platform gamers are using.

Press Ctrl + Shift + C on the keyboard and the cheat box will pop up. Next, players can type "testingcheats true" in the box and apply their desired cheats. On a Mac, press Command+Shift+C and type "testingcheats true" in the box. In order to bring up the cheat box on consoles, hit all four triggers on the controller simultaneously.

Once cheats are activated in The Sims 4, players are free to use the cheat to enter the CAS mode. All that players need to do is type "cas.fulleditmode" and choose the Sim they want to edit while holding the Shift key. Xbox requires players to press the A and B buttons, while PlayStation players will need to press the O and X keys on the controller simultaneously.

This will open a menu where players will see many options, including ‘Modify in CAS.’ Clicking on this option will take players to the CAS mode for that Sim. Once there, Simmers can make changes to their Sim’s appearance , clothing, traits, aspirations, and family relationships. After making the required changes, players can click the ‘tick’ icon to save the changes and return to the live mode.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The Military Career is included with The Sims 4 StrangerVille Game Pack. The new Career features two branches, Officer and Covert Operator which differ quite a bit. One will lead you toward spying on your neighborhood, while the other charges you with getting other recruits into shape. Here's a guide to the new career, its requirements and the rewards you can expect with each promotion. Each one comes with a medal, and there's a display case for storage which can be seen above.

Military Sims can Spar and Order other Military around.

Sims in the Military can use the Spar interaction, which lets them fight in a friendly way with another Sim. This raises fitness and builds relationship between the participants. They also gradually gain access to the 'Order Around' menu which can be used on other Military Sims. You may instruct them to spar one another, among other activities.

Getting Started in Military

Want to be a Covert Operator or Officer? The Military Career is available for all owners of The Sims 4 StrangerVille Game Pack.

Take a job in the Military by using your phone or the careers panel (hotkey 'J' on PC) if you don't have one already. Early on, your Sim is very much focused on keeping fit and not much else. As a new recruit you'll want to keep energized during work hours to keep the fitness skill levels coming. Workout equipment for the home can help a lot with saving time, though you may at times need to get out in the world and go on a jog.

Military is like Gardener from Seasons in that it allows you to choose each day whether you'll attend work or work from home. If you choose work from home, you'll get an assignment which you're expected to complete during work hours. Gains toward promotion are not given until the next day, so do not worry if you don't see your Sim making progress. This allows for a lot of freedom while bringing in money. I personally prefer going in when I'm trying hard due to being able to use work hard and going in a positive mood,

Choosing Between The Two Branches

Unfortunately when it comes to choosing between these, the differences are there but not in the way we might like. They make the same amount per rank, gain the same bonuses except for the minor differences you see in pictures, and work the same number of hours (8). The vast difference is one is an early morning/daytime job (Officer) and one is a late night job (Covert Operator). Because of this it should be fairly easy for you to choose, but hinders the replayability of the two branches.

Covert Operators will listen in on other Sims, using the Listening Device. This may mean planting bugs on them, as potentially used at one point during the StrangerVille Mystery , only an absolute requirement of the job in this case. They may also need to find evidence and research strange phenomena, while keeping the secrets of the military. The level 10 activity, 'Plan 10 Moves Ahead' means to simply play chess for 2 hours. I'm not sure why it doesn't change the name for agents or add an additional activity to the chessboard. It also lacks a tooltip, so hopefully this helps.

Officers may be expected to Recruit other Sims to the Military. They're also responsible for keeping other Sims fit, practicing combat, and improving their own ability to order other Sims around.

My Sim in level 5 of the Military career was forced to quit his job and become a soccer player after he enrolled in university. This is a bit of a long shot, but I figured I would ask if anyone else has encountered this.

Never mind, I figured it out. He got an athletic scholarship, which required him to become a soccer player, thereby forcing him out of the military.

How do I put the medals into the case after marrying one and he wants them in thier display case?

You should be able to just drag them from the inventory of the Sim into the display case.

University Tip: You don’t need to finish homework to get a good grade

Just thought I’d do an experiment with my current University sim. He’s going for a distinguished degree in fine arts and for the entire semester I only had him do 50% of his homework every night. I still did the presentation and term paper excellent quality and went to class on time and took notes everyday. Just finished the semester with an A+ ! And I saved so much time, it only takes about an hour to get to 50% where it takes two or more to finish it. I may try doing even less homework this semester and see what happens.

The Sims 4: How to do Homework

Homework in The Sims 4 is a necessary evil and a part of everyday life for most people IRL so it makes sense that it would be inside a life simulation game. From the time your sims turn into children until they’ve graduated University they are going to be doing homework and it will take up a significant part of their lives.

There are actually a few hacks you should know to get your sims to have more fun when doing homework, get it done quicker, and just generally finish it in a timely fashion that will make you a better sims player.

How to Do Homework for Children

When a sim’s kid returns from their long day at school they are going to have a little orange book inside of their inventory which is their homework. This should be completed before they attend school again which is usually the next day unless it’s the weekend.

You can get your sims to start doing their homework by clicking on the homework book in their inventory and choosing do homework . Your sims will find the nearest place to sit (even on the ground) to start working on their homework and will work until they are finished unless they are interrupted by low needs or an event trigger like a fire.

Any adult can come over to this sim while they are doing their homework and you can choose help with homework which will get the adult involved and sitting with the child and they will get their homework done much quicker.

There is even a system for sims kids (not teens) where if your kid gets all of the four children skills to level 3 they’ll have the option to breeze through homework instead of do homework and this will get the job done quicker.

Getting these skills all to level 7 will give them the option to dominate homework which will get it done even more quickly. This is a nice hack to really finish it without it being a huge part of their day.

Once a child has finished their homework, if they have a B or higher in school, they actually have the option to do extra credit after they’ve finished their regular homework. This is good for you if you want to get your sims to increase their school performance.

If you ever find your sims without a homework book in their inventory and you have no idea where it could be you can actually purchase these for one simoleon on any book case!

How to Do Homework for Teens

Homework works pretty much the same way for teens except their homework book is a nice blue colour instead of the orange that kids get. To get them to work on their homework you’ll get them to go into their inventory and click on it and choose do homework and they will start working on it.

They too have the option to have an adult sim to help with homework by getting that sim to click on them when they’ve started their homework and getting them to assist to make it go more quickly.

Once a teenager has a B in school they have the option to do extra credit after they’ve finished their regular homework. This will help them increase their school performance and get to an A as soon as possible.

Bonus Tip: Use the earbuds from The Sims 4: Fitness Stuff Pack when doing homework to keep your sims fun need up so they aren’t feeling tense when they’re done working on it.

School Projects

With The Sims 4: Parenthood there’s a pretty decent chance each week that your sims kids will come home with a school project that they can decide to complete for a boost to their grades. If they don’t complete it within a few days they may get a small decrease to their school grades but it’s not substantial.

These projects come home with your sims in their inventory and are rather easy to complete. They have the option to work on it either carefully or sloppily. Choosing sloppily will get the job done quicker, however, you won’t see a huge increase to their grades but you also won’t see a decrease.

The better option is to work carefully so your sims can improve their school grades. While they are working on these projects they’ll actually gain a skill depending on the type of homework they are working on. For sims kids they’ll be skills like mental, creativity, etc. but for teenagers it’ll be more specific like rocket science or painting .

One awesome thing is that you can get other sims to assist in the project up to 3 sims so you can get these projects done extremely quickly and if an adult sim who has a high skill in the project type assists it’ll go so quickly.

Working on these will also increase your sim’s kids’ responsibility character value which is awesome but failing to complete it will negativity impact this.

How to Do Homework in University

With the 2019 addition of The Sims 4: Discover University we have a whole new type of homework for your sims to have to work on. These homework books are going to be a black and white composite notebook that will appear in your sims inventory when they enroll in their first semester of university.

Each time your sim goes to a class they are going to need to do their homework before they attend that class if they want to get a good grade, meaning that if you’re taking multiple classes your sim will be needing to do homework multiple times per week.

To get this University homework done you’ll want to click on the homework book and choose which class’ homework you actually want to work on and get started. You don’t have to do it all in one sitting so you can start and stop as many times as you want.

An awesome detail about University homework is that if your sims have a high level of the research and debate skill they’ll actually breeze through their homework much more quickly. You can also add the study spot lot trait to your sim’s lot to make it easier.

Final Thoughts

Homework is something you can’t avoid if you want your sims to do well in school when they’re young, but there’s no need to stress about it. Sims grades won’t affect their later days work performance or the overall success in their life, so no worries if you don’t get it done. Happy Playing!

It do work!

Doing a 4 course in sims 4 is a real tedious chore. It will consume all your sims time and you won’t have time to do anything else. They did this way worse than sims 3 university.

There are a few tricks mind you! First of all you can be at home instead, makes it all much easier and you can(like mentioned above) add the “study spot” trait to your home.

The next trick is using the club! Make sure, if you go to the university, add everyone you see to your club. Focus on getting “Rally the Troops” perk. That will allow you to get back all your energy and other needs quickly whenever you want. There is no cooldown on this. It requires 500 points so it’s not bad at all. Just make sure the gathering is on at all times(which it should be since you most likely won’t be leaving the lot). The homework perk does not work for university.

EA could easily have fixed this by reducing the homework time from 2 hours to 1 hours imo. They made it too much of a chore. It’s a GAME after all.

But that’s the whole challenge bruh

Documentation

This menu has an overview page, which lists some overall information about MC Command Center and its modules. It is a good place to look if you're wanting high-level information about each module.

The Search menu has an option to search either all settings for MCCC or all commands. The search can be filtered to only be certain modules as well, if you need information about all settings or commands for only a specific module.

Other Downloads

The Other Downloads menu contains information about other utilities I have provided both MCCC-specific and not. These will be .Net utilities for Windows as that's what I have! ;)

The Help menu contains instructions for installation, troubleshooting documentation for helping determine why the mod doesn't show-up within the game after installation and a FAQ for frequently asked questions and their answers.

Last Exception

If you are receiving a Last Exception notification when running Sims 4, this is almost always caused by an out-of-date mod or cc (hair, clothing, furniture...could be anything) or a core EA error. The #general_support channel of our Discord server has a lot of people around usually to help with this sort of issue. There is a link to this channel at the bottom of the website as well. When you first join our Discord server, you must first validate before having full access to ensure you are a human and not a bot. You can find details here .
