If you're a student, you need a system to organize classwork, exams, and life in general. And it's true, there is an app for everything. But there are lots of apps for planning and time management. Which ones make effective school planner apps?

When deciding on a planner app, you should obviously look for one with features most relevant to your life and your schedule. It should have a distinct purpose. And It shouldn't be thought of as a one-size-fits all productivity app . Here are the qualities to look for in a good student planner app:

Visually clean user experience vs. info-dense

Highly customizable vs. highly structured

Integrated with other apps vs. self-contained, with all the features you'll need in one place

Specialized for students vs. transferrable to post-school life

Here, you can check out just a few of the best school planners currently available. Each is highly rated, affordable, and, in several cases, geared specifically toward school and study. And they’re easy to find. Most are available in the Apple App Store or Google Play store for use on your iPhone, iPad, Android, or other smartphone.

7 great planner apps for high school and college students

Android, iOS, and desktop: Free with paid upgrades available

Todoist is a project planner and to-do list all in one. Used by companies like Amazon and Disney, and made for everyone from students to executives, Todoist is an app that can carry you through school and beyond.

Although you can pay to upgrade, the free version offers more than most students are likely to need. Todoist includes features that help you:

Enter important details or to-dos in a note-taking section before you forget them

Set up projects for each class and any other activities or hobbies you're involved in

Add "next action" items, so you can always look ahead to your next assignment

Cross items off your checklist without losing them for good

Other helpful features include due dates for individual tasks and reminders that pop up on your phone or email. You can customize every feature, so you won't get lots of notifications without asking for them.

Todoist also allows you to label tasks. You can label by priority, context (laptop work, library, etc.), or any other system you want to create. You can also indicate recurring tasks, like weekly quizzes, so you never miss an assignment.

2. Microsoft To Do

Android, iOS, and desktop: Free with Microsoft account

A reworking of the long-appreciated Wunderlist, Microsoft To Do has continued to evolve its features to make it stand out in the field of student planner apps.

Student planner apps - blog - Microsoft To Do screenshot

One feature that stands out in To Do is that things you didn't check off from previous days stay in the “Yesterday” box. That way you can specifically choose which items to transfer to "My day," and plan a better time for those that won't fit in today's schedule.

To Do allows you to sort tasks into basic lists that you set up, such as "Work," "Home," or "Lab." You can then add subtasks to the items on each list. For example, if your list includes, "Presentation for econ class," create subtasks for "Brainstorm subjects," "Find sources," or other project milestones.

To Do also includes some features that will please visually oriented people. Dark mode is helpful if you're reviewing your day just before sleep or when you first wake up in the morning. You can also change the background for each list, with lots of modern and inspiring designs.

3. Calendly

iOS, Android, and desktop: Free with additional features available on paid plans

Calendly simplifies scheduling with groups and individuals. As group projects have become the new normal, you’ll likely have to set up plenty of meetings with groups and individuals during the course of your time as a student. You can save a lot of time by scheduling and managing those meetings with Calendly.

Here's how it works:

Connect Calendly with your digital calendar, like Google Calendar , Outlook , and others.

Create a meeting request.

Set the parameters. For example, you can let recipients see your availability, so they can pick a day and time, or you can set a day and time and they can either accept it or request a different time.

Select recipients and send.

Calendly will gather responses from the people you want to meet with, and you'll have a meeting set up without the long texting thread that's usually required.

Other helpful features include the options of Round Robin or collective scheduling on the paid plans. If others share their availability, Calendly will show times that work for everyone, so you can pick. Or, you can use its Meeting Polls feature to let people vote on proposed times before setting your meeting . Also, you can set reminders both for yourself and for those who agreed to meet with you.

Calendly streamlines setting up meetings, so you can free up your time and attention for classes and other responsibilities.

Student planner apps - blog - myHomework screenshot

It's formatted for several types of class scheduling, such as block, period, or time-based schedules. myHomework allows you to not only input assignments and add tasks required to complete them, it also allows for prioritizing and categorizing tasks, so you can focus on what's most needed at any given time. You can set reminders for upcoming due dates too, so you don’t miss deadlines by accident (or procrastination).

While you do need internet connectivity to sync with other devices, this homework app still has full functionality even when you're not connected to WiFi. The free version has plenty of great features, but the paid version of this homework planner lets you get rid of ads as well as share assignments, add file attachments to assignments, and switch out your theme.

6. Power Planner

Power Planner is a well-established student planner app with many of the same features as myHomework and iStudiez, like entering your schedule, keeping track of your GPA, and viewing assignments and exams.

Student planner apps - blog - Power Planner screenshot

Though the app is full of useful features, one element that sets it apart from other similar apps is the responsiveness of the developer. Power Planner is updated regularly, offering continual improvements to its features.

The GPA calculator is more robust in this app compared to others, with its "What if?" feature, which calculates what scores you need on assignments to get an A in a class. It also includes notifications for due dates coming up. The paid version allows you to enter more grades and stores your GPA info from one semester to the next.

3 tips for getting the most from your student planner app

In addition to finding a great app for students, these tips can help you increase your productivity and keep your schedule running smoothly. No matter which app you choose, you’ll get more out of it if you use it alongside smart planning practices.

1. Treat yourself to a semester review

At the beginning of each semester, set aside a couple of hours to prepare yourself and get everything organized in your app and in your head. Make it fun: Take yourself out for coffee, turn on your favorite music, and turn off your texting and other notifications. This is time to get in the zone.

Give yourself time to look through your new app's features and figure out the best way to use them (or customize them) for you. It's helpful to read reviews, as people will talk about the most useful features. It's also an easy way to learn how to use the app.

Gather your syllabi, work schedules, and any other pertinent calendar info. First, enter all your calendar info for the semester. This helps you understand what your weekly schedule will be like. Then create projects or enter assignments (and due dates) for any big projects  your professors already have planned.

For example, the class may require a video assignment due at the end of the semester. Create a task called "plan out video project," and set the due date for around the time you want to begin the project. You don't want to get bogged down in planning the details of all those projects during your semester review. If you stay focused on the big picture, you may have time for more specific project planning at the end of your review session.

This is also a good time to set goals for yourself. Do you want to turn in more assignments on time or participate more in class? Do you want to learn a new instrument or join a team? Get inspired about doing more than just making it through the semester. With a powerful school planner app on your side, this could be your best semester yet — and there's more to that than just getting good grades.

2. Add a weekly review to your calendar

To keep your planner system functional, you have to keep giving it attention. Set up a time every week — about 30 minutes to an hour — for reviewing your projects and planning out your weekly schedule. Make this appointment as set-in-stone as your class times, so you aren’t tempted to put it off.

You can use this time to input any grades you've received if you've chosen an app with a GPA-tracking feature. Make sure that for every project, assignment or exam, you've entered specific tasks to prepare for them as well. You don't want to just remember that you have something due. You want to have a plan for turning in your best work!

This is also a great time to set up meetings you'll need for the week. Use an app like Calendly to send out requests for meetings, so you're not scrambling at the last minute to find a time when everyone can meet.

And don't forget to schedule some rest! One of the best ways to stay motivated and stick with your work is to know you have some quality fun time coming.

3. Plan daily check-ins

Every morning look over your daily schedule and your list of things to do. This usually doesn’t take more than five minutes, but it can do a lot to help you bring your best to the things that are important to you.

Improve your learning through great planning

Choosing the student planner app that’s right for you is a great way of keeping your mind focused and your grades high during the semester. A great app will help you stay on top of your classes and work, especially if you keep your app up-to-date with regular reviews.

A great calendar app can also help you to make the most of the other aspects of your life, for a less stressful, more rewarding student experience. The world needs what you have to give, and these apps can help you give your best.

3. Feature Set. Think about what’s essential for your study style, and check if the app has what you need – calendars, to-do lists, collaboration, compatibility with other productivity apps! And hey, the ability to personalize it with categories and labels is a plus.

4. Cross-Platform Compatibility . Make sure your app plays well with the devices you’re frequently using.

Give us thirty seconds to convince you   ↓

Why a digital planner, and why schooltraq.

Your academics deserve to be wherever you go, not just on scrap paper or on chalkboards. While paper planners seem convenient, you could leave them at school, at home, or even in another room. Schooltraq allows you to get access to your coursework anywhere and ensures that any changes sync across your computer and phone. It's also the best-looking and clearest view of your workload you'll find.

All available at a glance, the award-winning online dashboard lets you keep your work visible and in control. With mobile sync, you won't forget about that one assignment, and you won't go to the library only to find that your planner is at home. Play it smart.

Save time; use natural language with Reflex.

Schooltraq comes with a natural language engine called Schooltraq Reflex. Instead of manually selecting information for each assignment, you can quickly add assignments using natural English. What was already fast becomes faster: "Kinematics project in physics tomorrow" is all you need. Schooltraq figures out the rest.

The smartest dashboard you can find.

Our users love the Schooltraq dashboard — many choose to leave it open on a separate screen or window even when they're not studying. The dashboard gives you a heads-up view of your academics, from what you have left to do to what you've done.

Sort your assignments alphabetically, by due date, by course, or filter them by search. Showing your completed assignments (like crossing things off a todo list) is a powerful motivator. Like things on a grid? We have weekly and monthly calendar views too.

This is a exact replica screenshot of what your dashboard might look like ↓

Never forget — get it on your phone.

Schooltraq for Android comes with you wherever you go. Designed for speed and clarity, you can add assignments as soon as they are announced. When you're doing homework, focus view and the overview lets you drill down or zoom out. Don't have Internet in the library? Full sync allows you to use Schooltraq offline. Designed for Android 4.0, backwards compatible.

Use an iPhone or other device? Schooltraq for Mobile Web is our mobile webapp that works for most devices. It's been optimized for iPhone, but we're also working on a native iPhone version.

All of this and more for free . If you like it, support us for only $2.49 a month.

We provide free accounts because we want to help everybody . Some Schooltraq users offset our costs and support development by paying for our services. Users who pay a small monthly due are Patrons. They receive special access to new features and, most importantly, our immense gratitude. How patronage works →

Right now, it costs $2.49 per month to become a Patron. It's much less than the cost of a coffee, and it helps ensure that there will be no advertisements or marketing rubbish. Who are we? Visual Denim is a team of high school students devoted to making lives better through simple solutions. We're based in the United States and the United Kingdom, and we go to school too. We love what we do.

Have we convinced you?

We've tried our hardest to make a product that we hope you will genuinely enjoy. Our users relate stories of academic success and comfort through Schooltraq, and we find joy in creating something that can add to the lives of others.

Your Second Brain 🧠

From Peter Placek

Dear Student,

My goal is to help you get better grades with less stress and more time for fun.

By gifting you a second brain 🧠—one that will keep you organized so your actual brain can focus on studying.

Because that’s what I needed when I was a student, but there was no tool available to help me.

So, I built it for you. It’s called Shovel.

The Shovel Difference

Time-blocking.

Our “time-blocking” study planner, allows you to easily plan your tasks into specific study times, ensuring you stay on track and meet every deadline.

The Cushion Calculator

Meanwhile the Cushion Calculator monitors your available study time against the demands of each task, alerting you if you need to adjust your schedule WAYYY before you run into trouble.

To quote Kayla, one of our users:

Kayla - Shovel Student from Tampa University

“Shovel is a LIFESAVER.”

Watch how Shovel works:

5 Steps to Stress-Free A’s

1- uncover  your available study time.

Quickly build your schedule and uncover your available study time. Shovel keeps track of your available study time to calculate if you have enough time to get things done.

Available Study Time

2- Know How Long Each Task Will Take

Organize every task from every class in one place and always know how long each task will take and when to get started.

P.S. Shovel calculates the time needed for each reading automatically.

3- Plan Tasks Into Specific Study Times

This is called time-blocking and it’s like setting appointments with yourself for getting things done. It merges your calendar with your to-do list and maximizes your productivity.

The Cushion in Shovel

4- Be 100% Sure to Meet Every Deadline!

Shovel calculates if you have time to get everything done on time, or if you need to change your schedule.

We call it the Cushion and it lets you see into the future, so you never run into trouble! No other app can do that.

5- Visualize Your Past And Your Future

Stay encouraged by checking out what you’ve accomplished and stay on track by seeing what’s coming up.

Powerful Analytics in Shovel

Everything in One Place

Shovel Syncs with School Systems and Calendars

Connect your calendars and import your tasks from Canvas, Brightspace, Moodle, and Google Classroom into Shovel. When things change, Shovel updates automatically.

Who Is Shovel For?

For students who want to dig in and get stuff done.

NOT for creators, professionals, or soccer moms.

Shovel has one purpose — to help students get better grades with less stress. That’s it.

Charlotte - Shovel User

“I went from almost failing to straight A’s in upper-level neuroscience thanks to the Shovel Study System.”

– Charlotte , BU

Incoming College Students: Start college on the right foot—strong executive skills are key to your success.

Current College Students: Boost your study methods with Shovel and achieve higher grades with reduced stress.

High School Students: The perfect time is now. Shovel will not only help you gain admission to prestigious schools but also smooth your transition to college.

Neurodivergent Students: Shovel is a tested ally for students with ADD/ADHD, as validated by our user reviews:

5 Star Review For Shovel Study Planner

Miracle for ADHD

I actually don’t know what I would do without this app! I have ADHD and planners have NEVER worked for me. I end up forgetting about them and they don’t help. The only thing I’ve EVER found that actually helps me not miss assignments and due dates is a combination of Shovel and Google Calendar. I’m currently a straight A student in college and have never missed a single assignment or been blindsided by an exam thanks to Shovel. Forever grateful for this app.

– Jake (Purdue)

Shovel Is The Brain I Wish I Had

The best school planner out there. I have horrible ADHD, and simply cannot filter, prioritize, and plan the way Shovel’s algorithm does. My brain crashes just looking at a todo list. Shovel is the brain I wish I had. It guides me through planning based on how much time I have vs how many hours each task will need to be completed by the due date. I just select study time slots and fill them with task time.

– Olivia (USC)

What Makes Shovel So Effective?

Shovel App

1. Student-Centric Design: Unlike other planners, Shovel is tailored exclusively for students. Everything you need, and nothing that you don’t.

6. Predictive Analysis: Beyond organization, Shovel offers predictive analytics, allowing students to anticipate their academic journey and make proactive adjustments.

7. Action-Oriented: Shovel inspires action by merging past accomplishments with future objectives, promoting a well-rounded academic and social life.

8. Balanced Approach: Encouraging the “work hard, play harder” ethos, Shovel helps students enjoy their college experience while achieving high academic performance.

9. Transformative System: More than an app, Shovel is a comprehensive study system created from a student’s perspective to revolutionize academic habits and outcomes.

Shovel Is a “Time-Blocking” Study Planner…

Stop Feeling Overwhelmed

…but What Does That Mean?

It means assigning individual tasks into your calendar for specific durations of time.

Your Life On Drugs Time-Blocking

Eliminate Procrastination: Stop putting things off! Time-blocking sets clear times for your tasks, making sure you get down to business when you need to.

Work With Intensity: By planning each task for a specific time, you’ll feel naturally motivated to get it done during the designated time-frame.

Free Your Mind: Your study sessions are set up in advance, letting you dive in without hesitation or worry.

The Delightful Dingo. Our Mascot.

Because. Dingos primarily are wild neighbors to our Aussie friends, though they can also be found in parts of southeast Asia. They have a bit of a love/hate relationship with their human neighbors, who partially consider them pests and partially credit them for keeping rabbits, rats, and kangaroos (yes, kangaroos) at bay. An iconic aspect of Australian culture and history, we also think Dingos are cool because of their complex conversation system that, unlike that of Fido who just noticed the mailman out front, is only 5% barking.

How to use our daily school planner and schedule maker

What classes do I have today? When is that exam? What homework do I have?

With notifications and reminders, you’ll never need to ask these questions again. My Study Life worries about this for you. By keeping track of your academic life and reminding you of all of your commitments, you can focus on what really matters.

Customizable School Planner

We understand that most school planners work nothing like a traditional calendar, and so we didn’t create My Study Life to be one. After all, classes and exams aren’t calendar entries, they’re classes and exams! My Study Life is specifically designed to cater for the academic year, with the ability to input your term and holiday dates, your classes, exams and tasks. MSL will even let you know which classes conflict with your exams.

student organizer

Years, Terms and Vacations

Classes don’t last forever, in fact, some classes don’t even last a whole year, or even a semester or term. With MyStudyLife, you can specify when a class begins and ends – so you can be sure that you never miss a class. You can enter the dates of your academic year, terms and holidays into My Study Life so that you can see when you’re at school/university and when you’re not. Don’t worry – your classes will automatically be paused during your holidays, so you won’t have reminders telling you to go to lessons during your breaks!

Not just another to-do list

To-do lists are great for simple tasks, but they just don’t cut it when you are trying to manage the differing tasks and deadlines from a whole range of subjects. We know assignments can be big, small and everything in between. We also know that projects and homework aren’t completed in a single night. That’s why, with MyStudyLife, you can specify how much of a task has been completed, rather than merely only ‘complete’ or ‘incomplete’.

student homework planner

Tasks, at a glance

With traditional homework planners, you have to frantically flick through endless pages trying to find the due date for the piece of homework you vaguely remember a teacher mentioning. Not with MyStudyLife. The app dashboard will give you an entire overview of your day; not just the classes and exams coming up, but also the incomplete tasks which are due soon, so that you’ll never be caught off guard again.

student class organizer

Types of tasks

Not all tasks are created equal. With My Study Life, you can decide whether your task is an ‘Assignment’, ‘Reminder’ or ‘Revision’. You can even assign ‘Revision’ tasks to a particular exam, so you can keep on track of which topics you have left to study.

Never forget a thing

online homework planner for students

Whenever, wherever

Have you ever forgotten your school planner at school and felt the sheer panic of knowing that you have an essay due tomorrow, but you can’t remember what the essay is about? MyStudyLife solves this issue for you. Even if you lose your phone, you don’t need to worry. MyStudyLife stores your data in the cloud, and so even if you lose your device, your data will still be there when you sign in again – from any device*. MSL also works offline too – so you never have to worry that losing WiFi will interrupt your ability to manage or check your schedule. * Data must be synced before losing the device.

Everything in one place

MyStudyLife isn’t just a calendar and a to-do list. MyStudyLife is a seamless integration of all aspects of your study life into one place, designed to organize your academic life, giving you the time to focus to get better grades.

MyStudyLife’s dashboard lets you quickly see an overview of what’s next. Whether you need to know where your next class is, the assignments you need to complete soon or if there any upcoming exams, it’s all on the dashboard.

Don’t Just Take Our Word For It

You can really depend on this app, store your college to do, time tables and other information. It manages it well and reminds you of tasks due. Great stuff.

Jakub Niemiec

This app keeps me organized and I love it. I particularly like how it gives me reminders and how it integrates with my schedule.

Very good app to organize my work with a clean UI. Plus the cloud sync across devices is top. The best of its category, it gets the job done.

Great app, actually keeps me organised! Ability to use alternating weeks and simple interface really helps

You need to invest a little time to set it up but it is worth it. So far this has been an extremely handy way of keeping track of everything university related. The offline mode is invaluable.

This may sound corny, but this app has changed my school life and I've never been so organized!

Nicholas Gerstung

Easy to use. HUGE potential. I highly recommend this for any student who finds it difficult organising assignments and find time keeping a problem.

So helpful you'd think you paid for it!

I used to be very disorganized. Always missing assignments, forgetting about tests, and almost always forgetting where my classes are. This app has helped me stay on track with exams and assignments.

While different apps might have unique features, here are some things the best student planner apps should have:

  • Calendar views
  • Customizable layouts and colors
  • Multiple project views
  • Reminder alerts and notifications
  • Deadlines and due dates
  • Progress and time tracking
  • Tasks and subtasks
  • Recurring tasks

If you mean “worth the price,” the answer is almost always yes. The best student planner apps have completely free versions, so there’s no harm in giving them a try.

Your personal, professional, and academic lives are demanding, so a helping hand in keeping things organized is worth the download.

But some software might feel more overwhelming than helpful. Here are a few important factors to consider when deciding on an online student planner:

The best planner apps for students should include the following:

  • Customizable views
  • Tag and sorting features
  • Notifications and alerts
  • User-friendly interface

  • Time tracking

7 Best Student Planner Apps

Perhaps you’re on a tight budget or can only access apps on your laptop. No problem — we’ve compiled the best student planner apps, complete with pricing, OS compatibility, and features.

Let’s dive in!

1. Calendly

Best student planner app—Screenshot of Calendly's website with a peak into the calendar view

Calendly is a global, omni-channel scheduling app for individuals and teams. Over 10 million people use it, including companies like Google and eBay.

Students can connect Calendly with other apps and calendars, such as Google Calendar and Microsoft 365. It’s particularly helpful for students involved in frequent group projects, as they can use Calendly to toggle invitations and availability in one place.

The free version is more than enough for a college student , but you can really pump up automation with the premium paid version.

While Calendly might be one of the best calendar apps for students, it feels more suitable for professional teams and business owners. The downside — you don’t get as many of the task planning features offered on other apps on our list. Entrepreneurs might need Calendly’s easy collaborative scheduling for clients, but some students wouldn’t need that feature.

  • Features:  Routing forms, workflows, team scheduling, availability preferences
  • Best for: Frequent meetings and group work
  • OS: Desktop, Android, and iOS
  • Basic: Free
  • Essentials: $8/month
  • Professional: $12/month
  • Teams: $16/month

Todoist screenshot showing daily list views for events

There’s something so satisfying about crossing things off a list. The online version of that would be Todoist, a to-do list planning app.

Students can organize their calendar events, projects, and homework in multiple visualizations, like calendar view and Kanban boards. We also love how you can prioritize tasks with highlights.

Todoist isn’t just a place to organize lists.  You can track time for study sessions and view productivity insights to improve your study flows. The app has an impressive 8.9/10 rating on TrustRadius with minimal bad reviews.

The only downside we could think of is that the free version might not be able to manage everything on a student’s plate.

  • Features:  Quick task and subtask adds, recurring tasks, prioritization, notifications, tags, filters
  • Best for: Time tracking and task categories
  • OS: Desktop, Android, iOS
  • Starters: Free
  • Pro: $4/month
  • Business: $6/month

3. myHomework Student Planner App

myHomework app website home page

Don’t be fooled by the basic website. Established in 2009, myHomework Student Planner App has a strong reputation among students and teachers. The app has a 4.5/5-star rating on Apple, with almost 4,000 reviews.

The interface is simple and intuitive , with a calendar view for all your homework and tests that you can filter by teacher or theme. Each task comes with an automatic reminder should you need it, so there’s no need to create separate ones for each task.

Some students lament the app’s lack of integration features with Google Calendar and other apps, though most reviews state the app gets the job done.

Another downside is the free version’s ads, which can get annoying.

  • Features:  Homework widgets, project and task tracking, device syncing
  • Best for: Syncing multiple devices
  • OS: Desktop, Windows, iPad, macOS, Android
  • Premium: $4.99/month

4. Power Planner

Power Planner app views

Power Planner has one of the most visually appealing mobile layouts out of all the apps on our list. The intuitive layout, complementary and customizable colors, and convenient agenda view make it easy to stay on top of all your tasks. We think this is the best planner app for students free of charge — the complimentary version has everything you need.

And if you’re a super planner and predictor? This app has a motivating “what if?” feature that shows you the grades you need to get to reach certain GPAs.  You’ll also enjoy automatic reminders, regular updates, and ultimate organization with Power Planner.

P.S. The app has an impressive 4.6/5 average rating on the Google App Store.

  • Features:  “What if” GPA scenarios, calendar and agenda views, automatic reminders
  • Best for:  Predicting grades
  • Premium: $1.99/month

5. Easy Study

Study insights from Easy Study app

Need help finding the motivation to study? Easy Study is a great way to get in the zone.

All you need to do is add your subjects, plan your study time for each one, and boom — the app creates a tailored, customizable plan for you. The most satisfying part is checking off different tasks for each study session.

The daily statistics are also a serious plus. You can view how much time you dedicated to each subject as a percentage-based circular chart and even add overall goals.

One downside we noticed is the frequent customer complaints about bugs. However, it looks like the company does its due diligence with frequent updates.

  • Features:  Notifications, study history insights, subject categories, goals
  • Best for:  Automatic study plans
  • OS:  Android, iOS
  • Basic : Free
  • Plus Monthly : $2.99
  • Plus Semiannually : $14.99
  • Plus Annually : $26.99

6. Evernote

Evernote home page screenshot

Evernote is a fantastic note-taking app. It’s not as popular for scheduling and calendar management, but hey — a large part of college planning happens within your courses, too.

Evernote helps you plan your notes through efficient templates, to-do lists, web clippings, and more.  Unfortunately, many users complain that the free version leaves much to be desired, with limited devices and a lack of reminders or due dates.

The good news? Students can access either a 50% discount on a one-year Personal subscription plan, including due dates, large storage capabilities, extensive search functions, Google Calendar syncs, and more.

If you’re feeling really fancy and collaborative, splurge on the Teams version (or ask a family member to gift it to you).

We think this is the best student planner app for managing multiple aspects of life — categories like professional and personal goals, vacation planning, and even pets complement your academic plans quite nicely.

  • Features:  Reminders, due dates, integrations, note-taking , web clipping, to-do lists
  • Best for:  Managing notes
  • OS:  Windows, macOS, iPhone, Android
  • Evernote Free: $0
  • Evernote Personal: $14.99/month
  • Evernote Professional: $17.99/month
  • Evernote Teams: $24.99/user/month

7. iStudiez Pro

Screenshot of iStudiez Pro home page

iStudiez Pro is a versatile planner app that helps you see homework, exams, assignments, and course schedules in one clear view. Easy, checkable boxes for tasks are categorized by course — the half-picture views let you manage tasks while still seeing your schedule for the day.

Students love the user-friendly interface for most devices, though some complain the iPhone views aren’t as clear as on the iPad.

You can also track grades for every assignment and task , allowing you to easily keep track of your GPA as you go through the semester.

  • Features:  Alarms, syncing, integrations, calendar, grades, bird’s eye schedule views, GPA tracking
  • Best for:  Managing homework tasks
  • OS:  Windows, macOS, iOS, Android
  • Premium: $2.99/month for mobile
  • Desktop versions: $9.99/month

Tips for making the most of student planner apps.

There are a few differences between a regular app and the best student planner app for college students — but the most important isn’t the type  of app. It’s how you use it.

Here are some tips to help you maximize organization and efficiency from student planner apps:

1. Plan Out Your Week

Saturday, Sunday, or Monday are all great days to plan your week. Take some time to plug in all of your week’s courses, classes, tasks, projects, and commitments. This should save you the hassle of adding things ad hoc and forgetting important due dates. You might also consider plugging in grades for different assignments if you’re working with an app that tracks your GPA.

2. Sort, Sort, Sort

Most of the apps on our list have categorization, tagging, and sorting features. Take time to categorize every task to search for related items easily.

3. Customize Your Layout and Colors

Who says planning has to be dull? Have fun with your student planner apps by customizing colors, fonts, and layouts.

Are you strictly a calendar-type organizer? Great, leave the app on the calendar view.

Are you more of a visual organizer? Perhaps a Kanban board is more your style!

Being a student isn’t easy, but modern technology offers a helping hand. We’ve given you a comprehensive list of the best student planner apps on the market. This should provide more opportunities for students to embrace remote learning while providing fantastic support for managing school-life balance.

3. Is Google Calendar Good for Students?

Certainly, Google Calendar is a great student planning app due to its widespread familiarity. You’re probably already somewhat versed in Google Calendar if you use Gmail. Moreover, the app is easy to use, allowing you to create new projects or events from your iPhone, Android, or computer with a few easy taps. Homework Planner Apps for Students

1. student planner- homework agenda & notes.

The first app on the list is a simple homework and notes management app. It keeps track of homework, assignments, projects, and to-do lists. The layout is minimal, all the tasks are neatly organized with a colored bookmark for easy identification. You can mark a task complete and remove it from the pending list.

Courses can be added easily and color-coded as well. The calendar shows any upcoming deadlines so you can prioritize accordingly. The tasks have a progress bar that you can adjust as you make progress which enables you to get a quick summary without actually opening every task.

You can also break your assignments in small chunks as subtasks that would make finishing a task much easier and the progress bar will fill automatically. It also allows you to attach media files to your assignments or projects for easy access to the important information in one place.

homework planner apps- agenda

  • Progress bar
  • Deadline Reminders
  • Calendar View
  • No option to sync data to the cloud

Student Planner is a great app for all the students, it has all the necessary features like Deadline reminders, subtasks, progress bar, color-coded tasks, and courses. It can significantly increase your productivity when used regularly. You can get this app for free in the Play Store.

Install Student Planner- Homework Agenda ( Android )

2. Student Planner

Student Planner is another fast and simple homework management app which is wrapped by a beautiful and intuitive material designed UI. What Student Planner adds to the table is the inclusion of a schedule or time table which you can use to either store your class schedule or it might even be a study schedule for your exams.

You first start by adding your subject and the schedule then you can add an assignment or set a reminder. The due assignments are arranged as separate cards and can be swiped away once done with.

homework planner apps- Student Planner Android

  •  Simple and easy to get started with
  •  Fast and small in size
  •  Beautiful Minimal UI
  •  Option for Schedule
  • No sync/backup
  • Timetable implementation not perfect

I would recommend this app to anyone who is looking for a simple homework management app with timetable support and a minimal UI.

Install Student Planner ( Android )

Egenda is simple. Open the app, add all the classes or subjects to the app, and once that is set up, you have the option of adding a new Homework, Quiz, Project, or Test and choose the respective subject deadlines. The app also arranges the due work in cards that can be swiped away when done. But what I love the most about this app is that the fact it allows you to go subject-wise and view all your upcoming tests, projects, or pending assignments which is a huge convenience for planning your schedule ahead of time instead of the previous day.

Unfortunately, the app doesn’t have a timetable option, but in its latest update, it added a  Calendar View  where you can see your whole month at a glance with your assignments, tests, and projects.

homework planner apps- Egenda Android

  •  Subject-wise sorting
  •  Calendar View
  • No timetable support

Egenda provides some great tools for Homework and Test planning and I am sure anyone would find them extremely convenient and useful. But keeping its single con in mind, go for this app if you are not too keen on having a schedule or timetable.

Install  Egenda  ( Android  |  iOS )

4. ChalkBoard

The next app on our list is ChalkBoard, which I found out to be a pretty smart homework planner app. Chalkboard strikes a perfect balance between simplicity and features.

Although the setup process is a little longer than the previous three apps, as you have to feed meticulous details about the classes, teacher, and schedule. It is worth the effort.

On the home screen, you are shown upcoming classes, events tab, and upcoming tests. ChalkBoard fetches the dates for every subject from the Timetable for your future classes. Little features like these make the app stand out from the rest and give an overall great experience. You can also view classes and assignments subject wise.

homework planner apps- ChalkBoard Android

  • Proper Timetable
  • Ability to add teachers for subjects
  • View tomorrow’s classes as well as assignments/tests/quizzes
  • Smart features
  • Little longer to set up
  • No calendar view

If you are looking for a homework planner as well as a school planner, Chalkboard is the app as it strikes a great ground with almost all the features one might need while not being too bulky.

Install ChalkBoard ( Android )

5. School Planner

School Planner is a full-fledged planning application designed for students to manage their career as a student. Along with your homework and timetables, School Planner offers you to keep track of your grades and attendance, add contacts for teachers, add recorded lectures, and even multiple planners.

The app supports backing up of all your data via Google Drive, Calendar View along with a weekly report, attaching snapshots to your assignment reminders, student accounts from ClassViva, and a lot more. In spite of so many features, the app doesn’t feel slow at all and delivers a powerful performance with its beautiful design.

homework planner apps- School Planner Android

  • Full-fledged student companion
  • Feature-packed and free
  • Supports sync and backup
  • Widget Support
  • Tedious setup procedure
  • Big in size
  • Complex, not so smooth learning curve

While it is not for someone who is looking for a fast and easy way into homework management, School Planner is a great student companion app and serious students will surely get the most out of hit.

Install School Planner ( Android )

6. My Study Life

My Study Life comes with its own web app and syncs with the Android app, essentially making your data accessible from any device as long as it has a browser.

It implements a goal-centric circular tracker that shows your progress. The Calendar view combines your timetable, deadlines, and shows all your classes and assignments, projects in a single place.

homework planner apps- My Study Life Android

  • Refreshingly new UI
  • Access from anywhere through its web app
  • Sync and Backup
  • Lengthy setup process

If you study from your computer or laptop, My Study Life makes it easy to access your homework planner on your phone from your computer, while not compromising on features and being completely free. What more can you ask for?

Install My Study Life ( Android  |  iOS )

7. iStudiez Pro

Like School Planner, iStudiez Pro includes grading and subject wise organization of tasks. iStudiez Pro takes it further with the integration of Google Calendar that allows you to directly get all your holidays, exam schedule, routine from Google Calendar itself.

It also offers separate apps on all platforms including iOS, Mac, and Windows. All the apps sync seamlessly between themselves, so studying on your computer consulting your planner won’t be an issue.

You can probably guess what this app is about purely from the name. It’s a simple app that acts as your to-do list!

The simplicity of it gives it its charm. You may argue you could just use your Notes app to write your to-do list, but the tick box next to each task on Todoist makes things all that more satisfying.

Break each task down into subtasks, add due dates, assign peers to tasks and much more. Much like Chipper, you can also set timers for each task too, which is great for keeping you on track with assignments.

Download Todoist on iOS or Android .

Focus To-Do: Pomodoro & Tasks

Tons of studies show how the Pomodoro technique is fantastic for productivity. If you’ve never heard of it before, the Pomodoro technique is named after the classic tomato timer you have in your kitchen.

It works by setting a timer to 25 minutes and focusing on a single task. When the timer ends, you take a 5 minute break. After four “Pomodoros†(25-minute work-intervals), you take longer breaks in 5 minute increments.

This app is literally based on science, so who can argue with that? Manage your to-do list, time your tasks, set reminders, track what you work on the most and much more!

Why the Pomodoro technique works

It helps those who get distracted easily and lose track of time

Keeps goals and task completion realistic – i.e, stops you biting off more than you can chew

It’s especially useful for those who enjoy gamified task completion

Focus To-Do: Pomodoro & Tasks is available for free on iOS or Android .

My study life

Students, teachers and lecturers have all highly praised the My Study Life digital planner app for managing tasks and assignments in one place. Plus, there’s no ads that’ll distract you whilst using the app, despite it being totally free to use!

The app lets you synchronise all of your data between apps, so if you’ve forgotten your laptop or tablet, you can still use the app on the go with your Smartphone — even in offline mode. It’s one of the best study planner apps out there if you ask us!

Get My Study Life for free (and ad-free) on iOS or Android .

iStudiez Pro Legendary Planner

iStudiez has garnered a huge reputation over the years. Pop everything you need, like lessons, lecturers, contact details and assignments into your digital planner. Plus, if you’re into colour coding things, then this app is definitely for you.

View your planner in daily, weekly and monthly views to see what’s ahead. Viewing by day lets you see what tasks you have coming up and you can move things around at the drop of a hat.

If like most students you have alternating weeks, you can set your study planner to reflect this!

Get iStudiez on iOS only.

Taskheat — Visual To-Do List

Taskheat — Visual To-Do List, wasn’t specifically designed for students. But in terms of how visual it is, it would work fantastic for those who need to organise their tasks in an interesting way.

The app makes use of flow charts and colours to keep things looking neat and organised. It also lets you see which tasks are connected to each other for easy organisation. If you’re bound to forget about deadlines, its handy notification feature will make sure you stay on track too.

Use Apple products? All of your data automatically syncs with iCloud, meaning you can access Taskheat on any Apple device you own.

Everyday – Track Habits & Goals

Yet another app that wasn’t specifically designed for students. Everyday isn’t a planner as such, but more of a habit and goal tracker.

Why would a habit tracker be useful for students? It helps form discipline and visualises your progress with colours you input on each day. Overtime, whether that’s over the week, month or year, you can see how habits and positive changes have been formed.

Simply add all the habits or goals you wish to track, and pop a colour in to indicate whether you worked towards it.

Get Everyday on iOS , Android and Google Chrome .

Think of Trello as a virtual pinboard without the extra weight and stationary. It’s a visual tool that allows you to create lists and cards (your tasks) underneath those lists.

It’s fantastic for team projects, making it a good student planner, but also works as a handy self-organiser for all sorts of things. It’s totally free to use and available on both Apple and Android devices too.

Assign cards to peers, add deadlines, add a cool background to keep you motivated and use coloured labels to categorise your cards. The beauty of Trello is that it’s completely customisable. Make organisational boards about pretty much everything!

Get Trello on iOS or Android .

myHomework Student Planner

Get access to assignments anywhere and anytime with the myHomework Student Planner. It’s been on the block since 2009 and is a popular go-to for students and teachers.

The developer of myHomework insisted on a very minimalistic and simple interface, making it easy to hit the ground running and organising your study schedule. Whilst the app offers a paid feature, its free one comes with tons of features:

Track assignments, projects, tests and more…

Track classes

Receive due date reminders

Sync between devices

Cloud storage

If you prefer working in blocks or periods, myHomework can be used as such.

Get myHomework on iOS or Android .

Egenda – Homework manager

If you struggle to complete homework on time, then Egenda is your next best friend. Designed specifically to keep you on top of your homework, Egenda lets you manage your homework, tests and assignments in one place.

The app also has a notification feature to keep you on track about what’s due the next day. Plus, you can add notes to your assignments and add users to specific tasks that involve group work.

Filter your homework by class, due date and colour. It really is that simple – and simple is always good!

How to create a good study plan

Downloading a study planner app, even if it’s the best study planner app out there, it’s kind of useless if you don’t use them in a way that’s productive and beneficial for your studies.

Here are some really simple yet super effective ways to create a study plan that works for you.

Be honest about your study habits (or lack thereof)

There’s no shame in not having had a study plan before. What better time than the present to get started!

If you’ve noticed you burn out easily, or things are going through one ear and out of the other, it might be time to switch up your learning style too.

Look at your current schedule

Do you actually have time to study during the week? Are there any gaps where you can fit in study time? See where you can make room and plan accordingly.

Plan how much study time each class or assignment needs

Some classes, homework, and assignments will take longer than others to complete. If you know you need the extra time, see where you can cut back on other commitments.

Develop a study schedule using one of our recommended study planner apps

We recommend giving them all a go! At the end of the day, one of them may work better for you than the other. So why not give them a download, have a play around and see which one you want to make a concrete schedule with?

Stick to your study plan

This is a given, but once you’ve found something that works for you, make it a point of sticking to it. Not only will this help propel your studies, but you’ll ultimately feel far less stressed out.

Plus, the benefit of study planner apps is most, if not all, have notifications enabled. Meaning you can set notifications for when you need to complete your tasks or study!

Which apps do you like the look of? If you’re on the lookout for new courses to study, check out our New Skills Academy student discounts and get a few of these apps to get your studies organised!

In addition to the meal plans offered, most resident students open a Flyer Express account to provide for their needs beyond the scheduled meal times. Flyer Express is a true debit account into which cash, check, or credit card payments may be made for use toward goods and services at a number of locations using the "Campus One" card. Action plan for kids approved

online homework planner for students

THE COUNCIL for the Welfare of Children on Wednesday said a national action plan has been approved that would level up the protection of Filipino children, including the most vulnerable.

The plan, developed with state agencies, civil society, children and development partners including the United Nations Children’s Fund closes the remaining gaps in national strategies and frameworks, the state council said in a statement.

Angelo M. Tapales, executive director of the council, said they are committed to enhancing child protection, amplifying their voices and fortifying resilience against climate change.

UNICEF Country Representative Oyunsaikhan Dendevnorov said the national action plan would ensure that the Philippines would no longer have a fragmented approach in protection children’s rights.

“We are committed to ensuring that the Fourth National Plan of Action for Children is fully implemented. It is not just a plan on paper,” he said in the statement.

The plan places more emphasis on system strengthening. Working on child protection cuts across several line agencies, making coordination even more important in developing joint action plans with clear roles and responsibilities on who does what, the council said. — Chloe Mari A. Hufana

Federal student loan interest rates for 2024-25 are now live. Some have reached record highs, increasing the cost of college for people who will take out student loans for the upcoming school year.

Here’s how the current 2024-25 federal student loan interest rates compare to 2023-24 rates:

Direct subsidized and unsubsidized loans for undergraduate students: 6.53% interest rate for 2024-25, up from 5.50%.

Direct unsubsidized loans for graduate students : 8.08% interest rate for 2024-25, up from 7.05%

PLUS loans, available to parents and grad students to fill in funding gaps: 9.08% interest rate for 2024-25, up from 8.05%.

Since 2006, all federal student loans have had fixed interest rates. Undergraduate direct loan interest rates haven’t been this high in 16 years, since the 2008-09 academic year. (The standing record is 6.8%, for loans disbursed between 2006 and 2008.) Interest rates on direct graduate loans and PLUS loans have never been this high.

The latest federal interest rate hikes come on the heels of major FAFSA errors , which impacted and delayed financial aid offers, including federal loan eligibility, for millions of students. For some families, private student loans with lower interest rates may look more attractive this year — but private loans come with fewer borrower protections and no forgiveness options.

Rising rates increase the total cost of college

Each spring, the government sets federal student loan interest rates for the academic year ahead. The rates are effective from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, and they apply to all borrowers who take out new federal student loans for the 2024-25 school year. Federal student loans have fixed interest rates, so they won’t change during the repayment period — which typically lasts from 10 to 25 years, depending on your repayment plan. (If you’re already repaying older student loans, this interest rate hike doesn’t affect you.)

Ultimately, higher interest rates will make college more expensive for the millions of college students and their families who take out loans. Today, 42.8 million people collectively owe $1.62 trillion in outstanding federal student loans, per Department of Education data.

That tally may grow in the coming years: A 2024 high school graduate heading to college this fall could amass about $37,000 in student loan debt while pursuing their bachelor’s degree, according to a recent NerdWallet analysis . Dependent undergraduate students can take out no more than $31,000 in federal loans, so more students may turn to private loans to fill the gaps.

Here’s an example of how the higher interest rates can hit your wallet: If you start college in the fall and borrow $31,000 worth of unsubsidized federal direct loans over the course of your undergraduate education, with a 6.53% interest rate, you’ll wind up paying back about $42,315 under a standard 10-year repayment plan. If you’d started college in 2020-21 and taken out the same $31,000 in unsubsidized federal loans with a record-low 2.75% interest rate, you’d have had to repay around $35,510 over 10 years — a $6,805 difference.

In practice, you could pay even more. You can’t borrow the full $31,000 at once — the capped amount is split up over the years you’re in school. If you'll be a college freshman in the fall, interest rates could increase in the three (or more) years to follow.

Run the numbers with a student loan calculator to see how much your debt may cost over time.

Federal vs. private student loan interest rates

In recent years, federal student loans have offered lower interest rates than private alternatives — but that may no longer be true for some borrowers. Currently, private student loans for undergraduates have interest rates from 3.85% to 15.9%, according to a May 2024 NerdWallet analysis.

“More than ever, we are really encouraging our families to be good consumers,” says Stacey MacPhetres, senior director of education finance at EdAssist by Bright Horizons.

Shop around for private student loans and compare interest rates like you would for a mortgage, MacPhetres adds.

To qualify for the lowest rates on private student loans, borrowers must have a high credit score. Many students will need a parent or co-signer with excellent credit to co-sign the loan and accept equal legal responsibility for repaying it.

Federal student loans don’t allow co-signers, and only federal PLUS loans require a credit check. Other federal student loan borrower protections not typically offered by private lenders include:

Repayment plans that cap monthly bills at a certain percentage of your income, such as the new SAVE repayment plan .

Extended payment pauses, like a student loan deferment or forbearance , for financial hardships. (Private loan forbearances are generally shorter and more difficult to qualify for.)

Loan forgiveness programs, like Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

Loan discharges for borrowers whose school closed or defrauded them.

As a general guideline, borrowers should prioritize federal student loans. If they still have remaining costs, private student loans are a good option to fill in the gaps.

But when it comes to PLUS loans, private alternatives may be a better choice this year if you can qualify for a lower interest rate. PLUS loans don’t offer the same robust protections and flexible repayment options as other types of federal student loans, and they have a 4.228% origination fee that most private lenders don’t require.

Submit the FAFSA and free up cash flow to minimize borrowing

Evaluate your family’s capacity to pay out of pocket or consider using some savings or investments to cover education bills this year, MacPhetres says. “We’re really trying to encourage everybody to exhaust all of their other options before borrowing at all, which includes federal student loans.”

You can also minimize your total college debt and interest payments by leaning on funding sources you won’t have to repay, like scholarships, grants and work-study. You must submit the FAFSA for each year you’ll be in school to qualify for most grants and work-study. That includes the federal need-based Pell Grant , which can give you up to $7,395 per year in free money to pay for college. Many scholarships require applicants to submit the FAFSA. You also need to submit the form to be eligible for federal student loans.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is open until June 30, 2025, for the 2024-25 school year, but you should fill it out as soon as possible to increase your chances of getting more money — some types of aid draw from limited pools and can run out.

Another strategy to reduce borrowing: See where you or your child can trim college costs in the first place.

“Your student doesn't have to live in the best residence facility right now ... or maybe they don't need the 21-meal plan if they have never eaten breakfast in their lives,” MacPhetres says. “Little things that you might not think would have a significant impact can certainly help in trying to reduce your overall spending.”
