SIMMBA is a sure-shot winner, no two opinions about it. This one will storm the boxoffice. 2018 is sure to conclude with a roar!
ZERO has several factors going for it: star presence, winsome performances, energetic soundtrack and of course, it’s timed during the Christmas and New Year vacations. Sadly, the weak, flawed and lacklustre screenwriting is all that you recall after you’ve watched the much-awaited movie. This one’s an epic disappointment!
THUGS OF HINDOSTAN has some engrossing moments in the first half, that’s about it. The post-interval portions are an absolute downer. The plot is formulaic, while the screenplay is riddled with cinematic liberties. At the box-office, TOH is bound to have a huge weekend thanks to the festive period coupled with tremendous hype and the impressive names involved. But once the initial euphoria settles down, it’ll be difficult for the film to sustain. This one is a golden opportunity lost, a KING-SIZED DISAPPOINTMENT!

SANJU is an entertaining saga that blends emotions, humour and drama in adequate doses. It is powerful, engaging, emotional as well as compelling. The combination of Rajkumar Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor works like a dream. At the box office, despite not being a ‘typical Rajkumar Hirani family entertainer’, SANJU will score tremendously and emerge as a Monstrous Hit! Don’t miss it!
…the BAAHUBALI franchise has successfully created its own world and some incredible characters that are sure to stay with you for a long, long time. Talking specifically of BAAHUBALI-2, it’s a feast for moviegoers and has the trappings to make all generations its fan. The film is sure to vanquish previous BO records and rewrite the rules of the game. It shouldn’t come as a surprise if it turns out to be the biggest grosser of Indian cinema. East, West, North, South… BAAHUBALI-2 is akin to a typhoon that will end the dry spell at the BO and go down as a textbook on how to make a solid entertainer. EPIC BLOCKBUSTER.
FAN has a brilliant first half, but loses track in the second hour, only to pick up again towards the pre-climax. The writing should’ve been tighter, while the absence of music [it’s a songless film!] may also prove a stumbling block, but what works, and works big time, is the terrific act by SRK as the fan. And that’s enough reason for you to watch this thriller!
DILWALE is akin to a mouthwatering meal that satiates the craving of those who relish masalathons, besides being an absolute treat for SRK-Kajol fans. An unadulterated crowd-pleaser, DILWALE delivers what you expect from a Rohit Shetty film: King-sized entertainment. Go for it!
…a cinematic gem that you just cannot miss. Tremendous performances, deft direction, power-packed screenwriting and dialogue, melodious soundtrack and of course, the lavish mounting — this film has it all. Strongly recommended!
…is the perfect Diwali entertainer for the entire family. The film will win abundant love [prem], while its investors will reap a harvest [dhan], making it a memorable Diwali for all concerned. This one’s a record-smasher — scoring from East to West and from North to South, scoring at plexes as well as single screens, scoring at metros as well as non-metros, scoring in the domestic market as well as in the international arena. B-L-O-C-K-B-U-S-T-E-R!
…is relevant, powerful and inspiring with a top notch performance by Rani Mukerji. Worth a watch!

Fake reviews of srk’s zero try to trash the film; bauua clarifies, fake reviews of ‘zero’ are trying to pull down the shah rukh khan film even before its release..
The much anticipated big release of the year, Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Zero is scheduled to release on 21 December. However fake reviews of the film started doing the rounds on the internet on Wednesday, before the film even screened for the press. Twitter handles created to closely resemble popular film critics were tweeting out their reactions to the film and many people online seem to be taking them seriously without spotting the fact that these are not authentic, verified Twitter handles.
The official Bauua Singh (central character of Zero ) Twitter handle set the record straight.
Ama yaar abhi tak picture humne kisi ko dikhayi nahi, ye review kahan se aa gaye? ð¤ Itta bhi mat pheko ki lapeta hi na jaaye! @iamsrk @AnushkaSharma #KatrinaKaif @aanandlrai @RedChilliesEnt @cypplOfficial — Bauua (@BauuaSingh) December 19, 2018
Now, you can read our full Zero Movie Review at The Quint. But before that let’s clarify what’s real and what isn’t.
For example, here’s a fake photoshopped tweet by “Anupama Chopra” with a negative reaction to the film that’s being taken seriously and retweeted:
@anupamachopra 's take on #Zero . But still I am excited to watch it. Bring it on. #ZeroReview #ZeroAdvanceOpen @Zero21Dec @BauuaSingh @iamsrk @AnushkaSharma #KatrinaKaif #KGF #Simmba pic.twitter.com/t4qYYoJZ89 — Rahul Raut (@rahulrautwritez) December 19, 2018
Anupama has clarified that this isn’t her.
Folks please note there are fake handles with positive and negative reviews of #Zero being attributed to me. I havenât seen the film yet. My review will be out tomorrow. https://t.co/CjGUZzyT9D — Anupama Chopra (@anupamachopra) December 20, 2018
Here’s another tweet from a fake handle that tries to impersonate Rajeev Masand:
Watched #Zero . #ZeroReview : It blends drama, emotions extraordinarily. The screenplay is riveting and keeps you hooked. The icing on the cake being Shah Rukh Khan's towering act. A terrific film that stays in your heart. after the screening has concluded. A must, must watch! — Rajeev Masand (@RajeevMasnd) December 19, 2018
There’s another handle that tries to trick you into believing that it’s film trade analyst Komal Nahta’s tweet:
ZERO has been watched. It is an entertaining saga that blends emotions, humour and drama in adequate doses. It is powerful, engaging, emotional as well as compelling. The combination of SRK & Aanand L Rai works like a dream. Full review on ETC tomorrow. #Zero #ZeroReview — Komal Nahta (@KomaINaahta) December 19, 2018
A twitter handle claiming to be “Taran Adarsh” has called Zero “disappointing”:
#OneWordReview #Zero : DISAPPOINTING. Rating: âï¸ All that glitters is NOT gold... Holds true for #Zero ... Some engrossing moments in the first hour, thatâs about it... Formula-ridden plot, screenplay of convenience, shoddy direction are the main culprits... ððð #ZeroReview pic.twitter.com/5Vq4h0hhrF — Taran Adarsh (@Taran_aadaarsh) December 19, 2018
Another Twitter handle that closely resembles Anupama Chopra has tweeted out a positive review of the film too:
Done with #Zero screening. It's beautifully written, acted & crafted movie. It's certainly one of the best movies of the year. Everything's in place: the direction, cinematography,VFX,music & especially acting. #ZeroReview - Complete family entertainer with emotions as its USP — Anupama Chopra (@anupamachapra) December 19, 2018
What’s more, there are mischievous tweets which are compiling non-existent ratings given to Zero by various media houses in an attempt to pull down the film calling it a “disaster”:
#zero Reviews Rating- TOI- 1 /5 NDTV- 1.5/5 HindustanTimes- 1 /5 News18- -1 /5 BollywoodHungama - 0.5 /5 PinkVilla - 2 /5 KhaleejTimes - 2 / 5 GulfNews - 1.5 /5 Koimoi- 2 /5 Firstpost - 2 /5 Midday- 2 /5 MumbaiMirror- 2 / 5 IMDB- 2.7/10 One Word Review- 'Disaster' — ZERO (@Zerosuperhit) December 19, 2018
So beware and don’t go by these reactions to Aanand L Rai’s Zero.

Zero Movie Review: Shah Rukh Khan's Zero has several factors going for it but sadly, the weak, flawed and lacklustre screenwriting is all that you recall. This one’s an epic disappointment.
Zero review 1.5/5 & rating. watch zero official trailer video, listen songs, movie news updates, movie review and checkout public movie reviews soon., zero review {1.5/5} & review rating.
ZERO is a crucial film for varied reasons. The main reason being, it’s the first collaboration of Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L Rai, who has a hat trick of hits to his credit [TANU WEDS MANU, RAANJHANAA and TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS].
Unlike their previous ventures, the stakes are high this time. The actor features in a role he hasn’t portrayed earlier, while a significant part of the second half has space travel interwoven in its screenplay. Naturally, the expectations are colossal.
Without giving away the minutest details of the story, here’s the spoiler-free plot: Bauua [Shah Rukh], a 38-year-old man, lives with his family in Meerut. He comes across the profile of Aafia [Anushka Sharma] at a marriage bureau and decides to woo her.
Aafia doesn’t show interest in Bauua initially, but falls in love with him subsequently. Bauua backs off. A few months later, Bauua is shocked to see Aafia at his residence.
Bauua’s father [Tigmanshu Dhulia] decides to get Bauua and Aafia married and a reluctant Bauua agrees too. Meanwhile, Bauua had signed up for a dance competition where the winner will get to meet the superstar, Babita [Katrina Kaif].
An ardent fan of Babita, Bauua ditches Aafia on the day of marriage. What happens next, forms the remainder of the film.
To begin with, the story [Himanshu Sharma] hinges on a wafer thin plot. The writer has integrated space travel in the narrative and you may argue [and rightly so] that it’s this aspect that drives the story away from predictability. However, the writer fails to knit a compelling, riveting and captivating screenplay that stays with you.
ZERO appeals in bits and spurts and a few moments in the first half do grab your attention, make you giggle and bring a smile on your face. A few individualistic sequences do catch your attention, but you realise, as the narrative progresses, there’s something amiss.
You invest hopes in the post intermission portions, hoping that the writing and the emotional quotient - the hallmark of Aanand’s previous movies - will change the scenario for better. Unfortunately, the writing goes for a toss as the fun portions fall flat, romance seems superficial and emotions appear fake.
What saves ZERO, besides the performances of its principal cast, are some sharp and witty lines. But the bitter truth is, great lines or individualistic sequences in a disjointed screenplay are forgotten once you exit the theatre.
Aanand L. Rai’s direction is a far cry from his previous works. In fact, the incredibly talented storyteller is known to make you smile, laugh and make you moist-eyed in his well-packaged movies. Everyone who recalls his works will be wondering, how did he okay a half-baked screenplay this time? Too many questions cross your mind as the drama unfolds and you soon realise, it’s a screenplay of convenience.
The graph of the film goes haywire in the second hour. Generally, you don’t complain about the length of the film / run time if the proceedings and sequence of events keep you hooked, enthralled and mesmerised. Sadly, ZERO lacks the power of a strong and cohesive script.
Ajay-Atul's soundtrack is a big plus. ‘Mere Naam Tu' is, undoubtedly, the best track. The song featuring Salman and SRK is a treat for the fans of the two superstars. Cinematography is brilliant. The DOP captures the various moods and locales to perfection. The production design is top notch. A special mention of the VFX, which matches the global standards.
Shah Rukh is the lifeline of ZERO. He is in supreme form. The actor deserves 10/10 for a performance that’s absolutely fantastic. Anushka nails the part. There’s no doubt that she’s amongst the best and her act in ZERO reiterates the fact. Katrina surprises you with a stunning performance. Some moments in the second half give her ample scope to shine.
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub is dependable, contributing to the fun quotient. Tigmanshu Dhulia is perfect. Brijendra Kala is hardly there. Abhay Deol and R Madhavan hardly contribute.
ZERO features Sridevi, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla in an inconsequential sequence.
On the whole, ZERO has several factors going for it: star presence, winsome performances, energetic soundtrack and of course, it’s timed during the Christmas and New Year vacations. Sadly, the weak, flawed and lacklustre screenwriting is all that you recall after you’ve watched the much-awaited movie. This one’s an epic disappointment!

Zero box office collection Day 1: Zero fails to impress critics; all hopes on weekend earnings now
The film, despite its famous starcast, seems to have failed to impress film critics, which could impact its overall business at the box office..
- Updated Dec 21, 2018, 6:25 PM IST
#OneWordReview … #Zero : FIASCO Rating: » Expected so much from this collaboration [SRK and director Aanand L Rai]… Sadly, the flawed writing - especially the second hour - takes the film downhill... EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT... #ZeroReview pic.twitter.com/Hzo1oepata - taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) December 21, 2018
Also read: Zero Movie Review: Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka-starrer falls flat on its face as it aims for the stars
Zero, however, is expected to pick up the pace in the weekend but negative 'word of mouth' could play spoilsport for the film. As per boxofficeindia.com, the opening in terms of occupancy is a little less than 2.0 (Hindi) but the release is wider.
The film was expected to be another super hit by director Aanand L Rai, who has previously given three back-to-back hits like Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. But critics say Zero is nowhere near Shah Rukh Khan's usual fare, and aims to do a lot but is cut short by the resources in hand.
While the movie has some stellar names attached to it, it has failed to cash in on them. The second half of the movie is aimless, scattered, and borderline fantastical.

Kalki 2898 AD review: Here’s what critics say about biggest film of 2024 yet

Kalki 2898 AD released on June 27
One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Kalki 2898 AD, was released on Thursday, June 27. Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and other big names, the reviews are out. Let's see what they are saying.
Komal Nahta - Make no mistake
Trade analyst Komal states that “Kalki 2898 AD is a blockbuster of epic proportions. Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan deserve to be complimented! Hats off to Nag Ashwin for making a film which India will be proud of!” and also applauds sets, visual effects and BGM.
Taran Adarsh - Spectacular
Giving 4 stars to Kalki 2898 AD Taran Adarsh describes the film in one word “Spectacular”. The film impresses with its stunning visuals, captivating second half, and strong performances, particularly by Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. Despite some slow parts and an unmemorable soundtrack, it's a must-watch for its star power and dazzling VFX.
Ronak Kotecha - 3 stars
Ronak of Times of India gave Kalki 2898 AD 3 stars, noting that the first half suffers from too many characters and half-baked comedy. However, Amitabh Bachchan's re-entry elevates the second half significantly and the captivating production design deserves special mention.
Rahul Desai - A Brave New World
Film Companion’s Rahul Desai says that the film is “a brave new world of myth, science fiction and middling performances”.He concludes by saying, “Some might be impressed it’s not as bad as Adipurish, but others might be disappointed it isn’t as breathtaking as Baahubali”.
IMDB - 8.4 stars
Currently rated 8.4 stars on IMDb, Kalki 2898 AD is receiving positive early reviews from the public. However, this rating may change as more viewers weigh in as more time passes.
Rotten Tomatoes - 67%
Kalki 2898 AD currently holds a 67% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This score may change as more critics post their reviews.
Expected day 1 collection
While the official day 1 collections are not yet released, Sannilk estimates that Kalki 2898 AD will earn 92 crores in India and 175 crores worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film on its first day in India.

A direct sequel to 2010s Enthiran (aka Robot), the new film builds on what was promising the last time around and gives us more of it. But plot, story, and character development are sacrificed at the altar of spectacle.Sure 2.0 is mostly humorless and doesnt have the lightness of touch that it couldve done with. But the action, the VFX, and the sheer spectacle on display allow me to forgive many of its faults. Shortcomings notwithstanding, it is the victory of vision. Shankar has shown us that slick special effects blockbusters are very much within our grasp.Im going with three out of five.
Ratings: 3/5 Review By: Anupama Chopra Site: Filmcompanion
Is there such a thing as an over-fertile imagination? What is that tipping point when dazzling becomes exhausting? And how many versions of Superstar Rajinikanth can one film juggle successfully? But what Robot had and what 2.0 lacks is a strong emotional quotient. The first film tackled complex ideas of human emotions and hubris and what happens when the creation turns on the creator. 2.0 is visually overpowering the VFX are mostly first-rate but the screenplay doesnt offer the seamless mix of romance, drama and comedy. Some of the writing is lazy.
Ratings: — Review By: Komal Nahta Site: Zee ETC Bollywood Business
Shankars direction is phenomenal. He has given the film a grand scale and has made it in a way that people will be blown off their minds with the computer graphics and visual effects, both of which are of international standards. On the whole, 2.0 (dubbed) is a surefire hit and will keep everyone associated with the film as also the audience very happy. It can easily touch the 100-crore mark in the first weekend itself.
Ratings: 2/5 Review By: Shubhra Site: Indian Express
2.0 is dull as ditchwater in the first half, perking up a little in the second, with a half-way watchable Akshay, and a Rajini coming into his own right towards the end, for a bit. There are some oh-wow moments, but on the whole, the film is not worth all the sound and fury. Will there be a 3.0? Give that a thought while I deposit my 3D glasses by the door.
Ratings: 2/5 Review By: Sukanya Site: Rediff
There are tons of special effects in Director Shankar’s undoubtedly inferior sequel to Enthiran/Robot — the 2010 sci-fi masala that explored the daredevilry and dangers of man-machine interaction to entertaining results. Except they are so overwhelmingly shoddy, 2.0 ends up looking like a downgraded, cost-cut version of a promising idea. 2.0’s cursory ticking of the downsides in clumsy common man conversations and confusion over ‘all life forms matter’ in an absurd, tiresome climax ensure it remains hidden.
Ratings: 2/5 Review By: Saibal Site: NDTV
So, is the most expensive Indian film ever mounted worth all the money that has been sunk into it? It looks and sounds great for most parts. It whizzes by thanks to the breathless action and the dazzling VFX. 2.0, however, would have been a greater film had the screenplay dared to go beyond the known tricks of the genre.
Ratings: 4.5/5 Review By: Hungama Site: Bollywood Hungama
On the whole, 2.0 is a cinematic marvel which has the style as well as the substance. The VFX especially during the last 30 minutes is something which has not been watched on Indian screens ever. At the box office, it is a sure shot blockbuster and will set new benchmarks in the days to come. Highly recommended!
Ratings: 3/5 Review By: M Suganth Site: Times Of India
What would it be like if the characters from Endhiran find themselves inside the plot of typical Shankar movie? 2.0 is what you would get. Using his pet theme – a wronged individual taking revenge on the people who ruined his life – the director gives us a film that is part sci-fi, part horror, part vigilante movie and part special effects spectacle. The plot of 2.0 feels familiar; in fact too familiar. There is no mystery in the supernatural occurrences that we see on screen
Ratings: 3.75/5 Review By: Behindwoods Review Board Site: Behindwoods
The film, however, falls into the trap of a screenplay that has been tried and tested multiple times and that happens to be the biggest drawback of 2.0. If the presentation of the story was done in a tighter manner, it could have worked better for a certain section of the audience. On the whole, without giving up on Superstar’s swag, Akshay’s performance and his love for spectacularly grand scenes, Shankar presents us with a product that cannot be sidelined. With contemporary touches and technological infusions, 2.0 is a brand that could stand tough against the biggest of Hollywood franchises.
After facing a threat that is beyond the current understanding of science, the Government seeks the help of scientists. Dr. Vaseegaran suggests to assemble Chitti to fight against it.
