How to get a raid assignment and unlock the atomgrad raid.

Raids are part of Modern Warfare 2 and you will need a copy of the game to participate in them. To join the Atomgrad Special Ops Raid you will need to acquire a Raid Assignment. Although you can freely join a raid your squadmates have started, if you want to start one on your own you will need to unlock the Raid Assignment before you can play it.

You can earn a Raid Assignment the following ways:

• Complete a specific Daily Challenge either in Multiplayer or Special Ops.
• Place within the top 20 in any Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale Playlist.
• In DMZ, use the final extract helicopter with at least $30,000 in Cash .

Once a Raid Assignment is earned, you and your squadmates can access the Raid for a full week.

Tips and Tricks on Getting a Raid Assignment in COD Modern Warfare 2

The developers have provided us with tips and tricks on easily earning a raid assignment with the above methods. You first want to warm up with Special Ops missions as much as possible so you can learn how enemy agents function, how Special Ops kits work and earn the rewards that come with completing them. The second thing you want to do is to tier up your kits because raids are part of Special Ops which means they use the Kit system. High-Tier kits provide additional passives and active benefits, increasing your chances of survival and overall progression of the Atomgrad raid.

How to start the Modern Warfare 2 raid and earn a Raid Assignment

Earn a Raid Assignment and level up your Spec Ops kits to survive

To start the Modern Warfare 2 raid, players will have to complete one of three different challenges in DMZ, Warzone, multiplayer or Spec Ops. Each challenge is different, but players will only have to beat one of them, earning them the chance to earn a Raid Assignment. This means that accessing the Modern Warfare 2 raid will require a little work in advance, but we'll walk you through it comprehensively below as we go over everything you need to know about starting the Modern Warfare 2 raid and the special Spec Ops kits you'll want to play it.  

How to start the Modern Warfare 2 raid

To start the Modern Warfare 2 raid you need to earn a Raid Assignment by completing one of the following options in Modern Warfare 2 ,  Warzone 2 or the Warzone 2 DMZ mode :

1. Complete a multiplayer or special ops challenge

2. Reach the top 20 in any Warzone playlist

3. Extract with at least $30,000 in DMZ

The good news is that only one player needs the Raid Assignment to start the raid, and can invite whoever they want to join their squad. So that immediately makes things easier, and you can all get on your way to earning those Modern Warfare 2 Raid Rewards by completing the mission. One thing to note is that the Modern Warfare 2 raid is part of the Special Ops section of the game so you'll need to download that component if you haven't and, ideally, level up some kits - that mode's version of classes - to really stand a chance in the raid. There are three of these kit to use, based on classes: Assault, Medic, and Recon, with each leveling up to tier 10 and unlocking the following rewards: 

Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops Assault kit levels

• Tier 1 - Start with three armor plates instead of two, and an armor box.
• Tier 3 - Assault suit unlocked which lets you gain full armor plates and 60% extra health once per mission.
• Tier 5 - Reload, switch weapons and throw grenades faster.
• Tier 7 - Unlock the ability to carry five armor plates.
• Tier 10 - Start missions with with two Stims.

Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops Medic kit levels

• Tier 1  - Revive teammates at twice the speed and unlock the Revive Pistol.
• Tier 3 - Start with a Self-Revive.
• Tier 5 - Unlock a Bomb Drone.
• Tier 7 - Tactical Sprint lasts longer and you move 30% faster crouched.
• Tier 10 - Start with Claymores and AT mines.

Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops Recon kit levels

• Tier 1 - Unlock the Snapshot Pulse
• Tier 3 - Unlock Sentry Gun and Cluster Mine.
• Tier 5 - Unlock the ability to recharge your lethal and tactical equipment every 60 seconds.
• Tier 7 - Carry one extra lethal and tactical grenade.
• Tier 10 - Start with a Spotter Scope and Heartbeat Sensor.

Modern Warfare 2 Raids explained: Release date, Atomgrad, gameplay, leaks

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is introducing the Raids experience to the franchise, so here’s all the latest on the new co-op feature making its way to MW2.

Call of Duty fans are being spoiled when it comes to Modern Warfare 2 gameplay variety. The new title has already delivered a cooperative Special Ops mode and added a new multiplayer third-person playlist to rotation.

Infinity Ward also innovated with the new Invasion mode variation of Modern Warfare 2’s Ground War . The list of game modes didn’t stop there as the free-to-play Warzone 2 and DMZ modes arrived with the Season 1 update and offer shared progression.

Another new mode on the way in Modern Warfare 2 is Raids . Infinity Ward have revealed what to expect with this mode, as well as its post-launch release date, so here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming co-op mode.

Modern Warfare 2 Raids release date

Raids will arrive in Modern Warfare 2 with the Season 1 Reloaded update , which goes live on December 14, 2022 .

The Season 1 Reloaded update also brings Shipment to Modern Warfare 2 and will be the first major update for Warzone 2.0 .

Thanks to the official Call of Duty blog concerning Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer , we know that Raids will be “a three-player cooperative engagement requiring teamwork and strategic, puzzle-solving thinking in-between bouts of intense combat.”

In a November 9 blog concerning Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 1, the devs had this to say about Raids: “Continuing the story of the  Modern Warfare II  Campaign, Raids will be the ultimate challenge for Trios with a mix of stealth, all-out action, and puzzle-solving objectives. Expect a full Tactical Overview and additional Raids intel at mid-season.”

In order to access a Raid in Modern Warfare 2, you’ll need to earn a Raid Assignment . This will allow you and your team to enter the Raid for a full week, and this can be done in three different ways.

Here are the different ways to earn Raid Assignments:

• Complete a specific daily challenge in either Multiplayer or Special Ops.
• Place in the Battle Royale playlist’s top 20.
• Use the final extract helicopter in DMZ with at least $30,000 in cash.

The first Raid, Atomgrad, will arrive on December 14 with Season 1 Reloaded, and there are “new Raid episodes on the way.”

Infinity Ward showed off the Atomgrad Raid at The Game Awards , showing Price, Gaz, and Farah infiltrating a flooded, underground facility. Here, they stealthily swim around the map, taking down enemy AI before it erupts into chaos.

In the December 12 blog post about Season 1 Reloaded, the developers revealed that successfully completing this Raid will unlock Gaz as a brand-new Operator along with his ‘Convoy’ skin in Multiplayer and Special Ops.

If you purchase his Store Bundle after completing this Raid then you’ll also get the ‘Grass Ops’ skin as a bonus reward. Players that get through the Atomgrad Raid will also be able to access a harder-difficulty Playlist.

According to industry insider Tom Henderson , “it’s understood that the first Raid coming to Modern Warfare 2 will have at least two puzzles involved; one focused on numbers and the other focused on a water maze.”

Henderson reiterates the role of AI within the Raids experience. Infinity Ward have put a ton of effort into developing this new AI, and it’s no surprise to see it at the forefront of several Modern Warfare 2 experiences .

The leaker also shared specifics concerning the first Raid experience set for Modern Warfare 2. Players will reportedly be tasked with infiltrating a submarine base, which will be a mission that highlights Modern Warfare 2’s water mechanics, lining up with what we’ve seen from Atomgrad.

So far, dataminers uncovered three separate missions related to Raids. Interestingly enough, Henderson also explains that datamined images “indicate that raids could be built from the ground up and on their own individual map.”

Although Warzone 2 and DMZ are free to play, Raids are part of Modern Warfare 2 so the mode isn’t free to play.

You’ll need to either purchase the standard or Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 2 , and you’ll then get access to the campaign, multiplayer, Spec Ops, and Raids.

Modern Warfare II

Modern Warfare II introduced the first Raid in the Season 1 Reloaded Update, which brought new content to Multiplayer and Warzone 2 as well as Spec Ops co-op.

Unlike normal 2-player co-op, Raids are designed for 3-player parties only (no more, no less) and are far more in-depth and time-consuming than a normal cooperative mission.

Raids take about 2 hours to complete, at least the first time, but Infinity Ward is hoping that players will play through the randomized levels more than once to uncover all the secrets and unlock all the rewards Raids have to offer.

You’ll play as Captain Price, Gaz, and Farah in the first Raid, reuniting members of Task Force 141 and continuing the story of Modern Warfare II.

The first Raid is called Atomgrad. In order to access it, you’ll need a Raid Assignment, which you’ll then activate from the menu before starting the match. Only the party leader needs to have a Raid Assignment to start a Raid.

Acquiring a Raid Assignment is pretty simple. There are three ways to do it:

• Complete the Raid Assignment Challenge in MWII
• Extract with $30,000 in cash from the DMZ
• Finish in the Top 20 in Warzone 2

The challenges in Modern Warfare II can change, but so far seem very simple. Extracting from the DMZ with $30,000 is also fairly easy. And you can finish in the Top 20 in Warzone 2 just by hiding away from the action long enough. In other words, it’s easy to get a Raid Assignment. The real challenge comes within the Raid itself. And once you’ve completed the normal Raid you unlock the more challenging Veteran difficulty to dive back into.

Completing Atomgrad Episode 1 on Normal difficulty earns you:

• Gaz: Convoy Skin (this one is guaranteed)
• One of 7 different items from the Raid loot pool, which consist of player cards, emblems, loading screens and unique weapon blueprints.

Atomgrad continues on from the single player campaign

Modern Warfare 2  just received a midseason update. It’s called ‘Season 01 Reloaded’, and adds the very first Raid into the game. Atomgrad is the new Raid Special Ops mission, and can be tackled with three player teams. Not everyone can access the Raid right away however, as players will need to earn a Raid Assignment, in one of three ways.

Gaining access to the new Raid is just the first part, as players will then be tasked with infiltrating an underground bunker as Price, Farah and Gaz. This continues on from the single player campaign, which ended with an action-packed set piece on top of a skyscraper.

For now, here’s how to gain access to the Modern Warfare 2 Raid , as well as some tips on what to expect from Atomgrad.

When does the Atomgrad Raid release in Modern Warfare 2?

The first Modern Warfare 2 Raid arrived on Wednesday, December 14th alongside Season 01 Reloaded.  Players need to earn a Raid Assignment, before heading into the Raid via the main menu. The Atomgrad Raid is technically classified as a Special Ops mission.

How to access the Modern Warfare 2 Raid

There are three ways to gain a Raid Assignment and earn access to the Atomgrad Raid in Modern Warfare 2:

• Complete a specific Daily Challenge either in Multiplayer or Special Ops.
• Place within the top 20 in any Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale Playlist.
• In DMZ, use the final extract helicopter with at least $30,000 in Cash.

Once a player has completed one of these three objectives, they will earn a Raid Assignment. This is essentially a key that will allow players to take on the Raid for a week after earning it. Only the host player in a multiplayer squad needs a Raid Assignment, and can bring two squadmates with them into the Atomgrad mission.

Raid Rewards

The main reward for completing the Modern Warfare 2 Raid is the Gaz “Convoy” skin. This can be equipped in Warzone 2 , as well as Modern Warfare 2’s Multiplayer Mode. In addition to this, completion of the Raid will unlock ‘a harder difficulty Playlist that will test even veteran Operators’.

During the Raid, there will be additional Intel scattered throughout. This Intel is said to unlock additional cosmetic items, as well as new data that will shine a light on new elements of the Modern Warfare 2 story as a whole.

Unfortunately, you can't jump in right away, as there are some prerequisites to consider. Here is everything you need to know to play Episode One: Atomgrad.

What are Raids in Modern Warfare 2?

Raids continue the story of Modern Warfare 2's campaign, and this is a trio mode with a mix of stealth, action, and puzzle-solving objectives. Episode One: Atomgrad launched on December 14 with Season 1 Reloaded, and Infinity Ward confirmed a new Raid episode would be added for each future season of Modern Warfare 2, confirming the game would have five seasons total.

How to access the Raid

Call of Duty's Raid is not included in the free-to-play Warzone 2 application, and you'll need to have purchased Modern Warfare 2 to play . Additionally, you will need to earn a Raid Assignment, which is the credential needed to actually play the Raid.

A Raid Assignment can be earned one of three ways:

• Complete a specific daily challenge either in multiplayer or Spec Ops
• Place within the top 20 in any Warzone 2 BR playlist
• In DMZ, use the final exfil helicopter with at least $30,000 in cash

Once a Raid Assignment is earned you can bring any two squadmates with you, or you can join a friend who already has their Raid Assignment. Only one person needs the credentials for those in their group to play with them.

Owners of a Raid Assignment will have access to the Raid for a full week. After the weekly reset, you or a teammate will need to complete one of the three tasks again to earn a new Raid Assignment.

The easiest method will likely be completing a multiplayer daily challenge, as the Spec Ops daily challenges can be a bit more time consuming. On the Warzone side, DMZ can be a time-consuming and risky choice, but placing top 20 shouldn't be too much of a challenge for battle royale players.

Find your Raid buddies in advance

Unfortunately, Modern Warfare 2's Raid doesn't feature matchmaking , and there is no option to go into the Raid either solo or as a duo. You must have two players who you can invite to join you for this trio mode. This choice to omit matchmaking was confirmed in a recent video with Infinity Ward developers who put an emphasis on teamwork and communication for the Raid, saying, "No one fights alone."

How to unlock Hard mode

Modern Warfare 2's Raid comes with an optional harder difficulty, but you'll need to successfully complete the Raid once to unlock Hard mode. Just like the standard Raid, you'll need to have two teammates ready to join you, as there is no solo or duo option here. The same weekly Raid Assignment prerequisite will be required for Hard mode.

The Raid utilizes Spec Ops class-based Kits, and you'll want to consider having at least one Kit to level five before attempting the mission. The MW2 Raid is an all-new mode that has been introduced in Season One Reloaded. However, to gain access to Raids in MW2, it’s not quite as simple as just selecting it from the home screen. Instead, you’ll have to earn your place in the Raid before tackling the twists and turns it holds.

What you need are MW2 Raid Assignments and below, we’ll be revealing all on how to get Raid Assignments in MW2 so that you can unlock this brand new experience and gather your squad together to share the spoils of war. Let’s get into it.

How to get MW2 Raid Assignments

As previously stated, MW2 Raid Assignments are an absolute necessity if you want to be able to play this fresh experience. Thankfully, the developers haven’t made it a gruelling task to get them, contrary to that of what you might be experiencing if you’re going for a Warzone 2 Nuke.

Here are the three ways for how to get MW2 Assignments:

• Complete a specific Daily Challenge either in Multiplayer or Special Ops
• Place within the top 20 in any Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale Playlist
• In DMZ, use the final extract helicopter with at least $30,000 in Cash

Once you achieve one of the three above, you will have a Raid Assignment for one week and you’ll be allowed to bring in two other friends into your Raid for that duration. This means not all three of the squad will have to get a Raid Assignment, making your life that bit easier.

While this may seem like a bit of an annoying task to complete just to simply have access to another mode for one week only, it does encourage both yourself and other Call of Duty players around the globe to maybe try a mode that they haven’t.

Additionally, as the Raids are a type of ‘Special Ops’ mission, you’ll be able to carry over any kit that you will have picked up from there into the Raid, giving you a slight edge in the heat of battle, potentially saving your run.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

Special ops information, mw2 raid assignment key and mw2 raid rewards explained.

MW2 has a brand new feature as of the Season 01 reloaded patch, which is the Raid feature. Raids are a brand new Spec Ops game type for new maps, which aims to play like Destiny 2 raids, requiring teamwork, practice, and tactics to beat. As it stands, there’s two versions of raids, one with normal mode raids, and a hard mode that unlocks later once you beat the normal raid version. Moreso, each comes with rewards for multiplayer and Warzone 2, which is nice. But to get your MW2 Raid Rewards, you need a Raids Key.

How to Get Your MW2 Raid Key ¶

Here is one way to get Raid Keys in MW2.

At the time of writing, there are several ways to get keys for MW2 Raids. Players can get Raid keys in one of three ways:

• Complete a multiplayer challenge
• Finish in the top 20 of a Warzone 2 game
• Extract with $30,000 in cash in DMZ

The second and third option will always be like that, unless the developers decide to alter it in the future. Meanwhile, the multiplayer challenge option will change depending on your daily tasks. For example, ours is to use our Field Upgrade 4 times. But, this is likely to change tomorrow. So, do what you have to do, and then you will get your MW2 raids key.

Note that once you complete a challenge that awards the player with a raids key, you will then have access to the raid for the rest of the week. We are not too sure what constitutes as the end of the week in MW2 terms, but there you go.

Once you have your key, you can scroll down to the Cooperative section of the MW2 multiplayer, and then select a raid. At the time of writing, there is only one raid, which is Atomgrad EP 0.1 and its accompanying hard mode.

MW2 Raid Rewards ¶

Completing a raid can reward skins and Operators, such as Gaz.

From the looks of things, each Raid will have a rewards for players to collect. So far, these are largely just cosmetic skins. For example, the Atomgrad EP 0.1 raid has rewards for players to unlock the Gaz Operator, wearing his water diving body outfit and head option designed for this raid. There is also a skin for Gaz as well, which is his iconic ghillie suite skin from the campaign, Recon By Fire.

Note that those who don’t want to play the Raid for the rewards can also buy the raid pass in the store for 1800 COD Points. At the time of writing the raid bundle grants players the Atomgrad EP 0.1 raid rewards for Gaz and his skin, along with some extra weapon blueprints and other skins and account cosmetics you can only get via the bundle.

It is likely each new raid will offer players different rewards when the teams behind MW2 decide to release new raids for players to try.

How to Earn Raid Assignments in MW2 & Warzone 2

Atomgrad Episode One has officially kicked off with the release of Season 1 Reloaded . Call of Duty is no stranger to mid-season updates, but this is the first time we have ever seen Raids in a mode like Spec Ops, and before you can get started, you’re going to need some Raid Assignments.

Considering the gameplay behind this new mode has remained hidden, many of the requirements beforehand will be brand new for any players. Before you can even jump into the new Spec Ops mode, you’ll be told about Raid Assignments. We’re here to help you get your hands on one and outline exactly how they are earned.

Modern Warfare 2 – How to Earn Raid Assignments

There are three ways that you can earn Raid Assignments in Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2, but each one can vary in difficulty depending on your luck. For those of you who like MW2 multiplayer, the daily challenges could be your best bet, but that also depends on the ones you get. Below you can find the list of methods for earning Raid Assignments according to the latest Call of Duty blog post .

• Complete a specific Daily Challenge either in Multiplayer or Special Ops.
• Place within the top 20 in any Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale Playlist.
• In DMZ, use the final exfil helicopter with at least $30,000 in Cash.

None of these challenges are nearly impossible, but they aren’t a walk in the park either. Daily challenges in Modern Warfare 2 usually consist of tasks such as earning three headshots with marksman rifles. You’ll save yourself some time and grief if you can jump into quickplay multiplayer.

Once you have a Raid Assignment earned, it will expire after one week, so make sure to use it while you can. Only one assignment is needed in your Raid party as well, so if all three of you have one, that’s three different completions you can get through at a time. Keep stacking up the assignments and walk away with all of the rewards that you can.

What to expect from Raids: a new Special Ops gameplay mode from Modern Warfare 2

With the first midseason update for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 comes a brand new game mode: Raids. Raids are being introduced to Call of Duty with the first episode dropping December 14th. Raids will fall under the Special Ops gameplay category within Modern Warfare 2. This means teamwork and strategy will be key to completing the mission. The first episode of Modern Warfare 2 Raids being released is Atomgrad. In this episode Price, Farrah, and Gaz come across an enemy bunker. 

Completing this raid will unlock Gaz to use as an in-game operator. Throughout the Raid there will also be hidden intel to unlock other in-game cosmetics. How to Access Modern Warfare 2 Raids

In order to access the Raid you will need to acquire a Raid Assignment. At launch there will be 3 ways to get a Raid Assignment: –       Complete a specific Daily Challenge either in Multiplayer or Special Ops.

–       Place within the top 20 in any Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale Playlist.

–       In DMZ, use the final extract helicopter with at least $30,000 in Cash.

Once you have earned a Raid Assignment, you and your squad of three will have one week to complete the raid.

Preparing for Raids

Raids will fall under the Special Ops category. This means that they will use the same kits as the current Special Ops missions. You can level up your kits by earning weekly stars playing the different Special Ops missions. Leveling up kits will allow you to earn more passive perks while playing Special Ops or Raids. Having a high level kit can give you a huge advantage when it comes to completing Modern Warfare 2 Raids.

Modern Warfare 2 is surely the most successful game made in the COD franchise. The game is being enjoyed by millions of players all across the globe. With the launch of Warzone 2 on the side, Season 1 has begun for both the newest COD titles. Along with DMZ mode , there are a few other game modes that are more than enough to keep you entertained for hours. The newest Atomgrad mode is one such new mode in the game. However, the mode can not be accessed unless you have a Raid Assignment in MW2. If you are one of those players looking to enjoy the Atomgrad Ep. 01 but are not able to, then this guide got you covered. Read this guide till the end to know how to get the Raid Assignment.

How to Get Raid Assignment in MW2

Consider Raid Assignment as a key or pass that is required to access the Atomgrad mode. Although, there are 3 ways through which you can obtain it. Take a look at the below steps to know how to get the Raid Assignment in MW2.

• You can get a Raid Assignment by completing the Daily Challenges in Multiplayer mode or Spec Ops mode.
• Further, you can also obtain a Raid Assignment by exfilling through the final chopper with 30K cash in DMZ mode . For those who don’t know, the final chopper appears in the final zone and is one of the hardest extraction.
• Last but not least, you can get a Raid Assignment by getting into the top 20 teams in any mode of the Battle Royale playlist of Warzone 2.0 . It is better to play the Mini BR Trios mode as it ends quickly. All you have to do is wait for a while until you have made it to the top 20. It will only take a few seconds or minutes for you to enter the top 20 positions.

Once you have completed any one of the above requirements, you will get the Raid Assignment in MW2. Later, you can click on the Atomgrad mode and select your two squad members to enjoy the game.

All credit to u/febrezey2011 (sneaky lil man) he was the first I saw post this recommendation so I wanted to make it an OP.

Play Mini BR Trios! There are 20 drop squads so no matter where you place its an automatic Top 20, just tested it myself.

MP and COOP challenges are BROKEN and will not assign a raid ticket.

As I've seen, the DMZ challenges are currently not working either (Whats new? Triple-A game after all, best-selling COD yet too. LMAO)

Raid assignments don't stack. (Just thought I'd throw this in, in case someone was wondering)

Addition for anyone who plays DMZ: Caved In is semi patched! If you’ve got the first two parts done you can now do the document placement!

All that aside, whats the point of the fucking Chimera? (besides looking cool?)

It has slower ads & ttk than pretty much every other weapon? Unless there's a tuned kit I'm missing, it isn't worth the effort of getting it. I could see it being useful in S&D? But why push a single gun for a single mode? Someone help me out here.

- Slower fire rate / ADS than any SMG (Therefore slower TTK overall)

- Less range than an M4, which can be kitted for both ADS & range (Especially the battle pass M4)

+ Built-in suppressor therefore no kill skulls.

Subscriber only, crime and public safety | 5 years after violent raid of irvine home, no charges for woman accused of funding it, feds say.

The Chinese national, who was not named in a federal indictment against the four men, two who were Los Angeles County deputies at one point, hired one of the men and asked him to help her get the assets because an ongoing lengthy, costly battle in the courts wasn’t working to her satisfaction, U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman Ciaran McEvoy said.

She also allegedly said in an email if he were to help get the assets, “We could both retire,” according to the indictment. The man then hired the three others, authorities said.

The investigation was ongoing, McEvoy said.

The men pleaded not guilty on Monday, Aug. 12, in federal court: Steven Arthur Lankford, 68, of Canyon Country; Glen Louis Cozart, 63, of Upland; Max Samuel Bennett Turbett, 39, of Australia; and Matthew Phillip Hart, 41, of Australia.

“We are disappointed that five years after the incident in question and days before the statute of limitations expired, the United States (Attorney’s Office) chose to bring these charges based on the word of an unreliable witness motivated by financial gain,” said lawyer Craig Wilke, who represents Turbett, in a statement. “(He) is a citizen of the United Kingdom and decorated military veteran who served honorably in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“He chose not to contest his extradition, which would have delayed proceedings for years,” Wilke said. “He voluntarily travelled to the United States to appear on a summons in federal court … and enter his not guilty plea. He looks forward to answering these unfounded charges at trial in this case.”

They face four federal charges, including attempted extortion, for allegedly raiding the victim’s home on June 17, 2019, which culminated with the victim signing a settlement agreement to give up his shares in the company, valued in the tens of millions of dollars, authorities said.

According to federal authorities, the men were also seeking nearly $37 million in cash, but the agreement the victim signed was only for his shares.

Lankford retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 2017, but he was working as a reserve deputy at the time of the alleged raid, while Cozart retired from the department in 1994, last serving at the Temple Station, the department said in a statement. Lankford left the department in 2020, with his last assignment in the Homicide Bureau.

“These allegations do not reflect the values of the dedicated men and women of our department,” LASD said in a statement, adding that it was working with federal authorities “to ensure a comprehensive investigation and accountability for any misconduct. Criminal misconduct will not be tolerated and those who violate the law will be held accountable.”

Federal authorities allege the four men planned their strategy at a Santa Ana hotel in the days leading up to the raid. On the day of the raid, Lankford drove the men to Irvine in an unmarked LASD vehicle and displayed his badge to the victim, told him he was a police officer and falsely identified Cozart as an “immigration” officer, authorities said.

One man slammed the victim against a wall and choked him, the indictment says. Fearing for his safety and that of his family, he signed the documents.

The longstanding dispute between the two had led to at least three lawsuits in China and one in Georgia, McEvoy said.

In fact, as the practice continued, Harbaugh shadowed Perez closely. He didn’t raise his voice in those instances, but he spoke quietly. Clearly, he was interested in getting more out of Perez, who signed last week to bolster the Chargers’ quarterback depth with Justin Herbert sidelined.

It’s possible there could be a change in the Chargers’ depth chart at quarterback going into Saturday’s exhibition against the Rams at SoFi Stadium. Easton Stick’s less-than-stellar performance in last Saturday’s 16-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks could mean Perez gets the start against the Seahawks.

“Arrow up,” Harbaugh said of Perez’s play in practice since he signed last week.

Harbaugh declined to accept a compare and contrast assignment, however.

“I’m not going to give a practice grade to the public, you know, for public consumption,” he said. “Trust yourself. You guys (reporters) know football. That’s what it all comes down to. Who’s going to make the team? The best players. How do we know who the best players are? They play the best. Who’s going to start? The best players. How do we know who the best players are? They play the best.”

For the record, Stick was 5 for 13 for 31 yards with one interception and a passer rating of 14.6 during the Chargers’ loss to the Seahawks. Perez was 5 for 12 for 61 yards with a passer rating of 58.0. A third quarterback, Max Duggan, was 4 for 7 for 41 yards with a passer rating of 74.1.

A fourth quarterback, Casey Bauman, didn’t play and was cut Monday.

Stick took 15 snaps, Duggan took 16 and Perez took 12.

The Chargers struggled to move the ball from start to finish, but their difficulties seemed especially acute with Stick at quarterback in the first half. Stick didn’t move the Chargers for a first down until their seventh possession. They went three and out with one interception in their first six drives.

Cameron Dicker’s 58-yard field goal accounted for the Chargers’ only score.

Asked specifically about Perez, a veteran of the UFL and the XFL, Harbaugh said, “Excited about him. Coaching stuff up. Gotta get the tempo going. Gotta get the huddle going. Hasn’t been familiar with the verbiage and the play-calling. For a guy who’s been here four days, pretty outstanding, you know? He’s attacking it. He’s been here early, staying late, doing everything in his power.

“All you can do is guarantee a guy an opportunity.”

The Chargers’ joint practice with the Rams on Wednesday was canceled at the Rams’ request. The Chargers will hold a regular practice in preparation for their exhibition game against the Rams on Saturday at SoFi Stadium. The teams held a joint practice Aug. 4 at the Chargers’ facility . …

Harbaugh didn’t provide updates on edge rusher Joey Bosa, who hasn’t practiced since suffering an apparent hand injury during the Chargers’ joint practice with the Rams, and Herbert, who has been wearing a walking boot since Aug. 1 in order to protect a plantar fascia injury . …

Edge rusher Chris Rumph II suffered a foot injury during the Chargers’ loss Saturday to the Seahawks, a team spokesman said. The extent of the injury was unknown and it was uncertain how long Rumph might be sidelined. He and his fellow edge rushers had been impressive in camp. …

Wide receiver Joshua Palmer participated in some but not all of Monday’s 90-minute practice. He appeared to injure his right leg during practice last Wednesday. He did not play in Saturday’s exhibition and didn’t join his teammates for team drills during Monday’s practice. …

Linebacker Junior Colson, a rookie from Michigan who underwent an appendectomy during the offseason, joined the Chargers for individual drills for the first time during training camp, but he sat out the team drills. Harbaugh said he wasn’t “qualified” to know if Colson could play Saturday. …

The Chargers signed wide receiver Isaiah Wooden, an undrafted rookie from Southern Utah. Wooden had 100 catches for 1,726 yards and 20 touchdowns over two seasons at Southern Utah. He began his college career at Kent State, but transferred to Southern Utah for the 2022 season.
