The Loud House  has long been a staple on Nickelodeon. With five seasons, spin-offs, and graphic novel adaptations under the series’ belt, it only makes sense that the Loud family would get the big screen treatment, too.  The Loud House Movie , now streaming on Netflix, sees the extra-large, extra-loud Loud clan travel across the pond to learn about their familial roots (and sing a song or two in the process).

THE LOUD HOUSE MOVIE : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

The Gist: Lincoln Loud is the only boy in a family of 10 girls. While he is a supportive brother to his many sisters – which include an athlete, pageant queen, scientist, fashion model, comedian, goth, and burrito-loving baby, just to name a few – Lincoln struggles to feel as though he’s appreciated, or has something he’s meant to do. After hearing his best friend talk about how he comes from a long line of bakers, Lincoln decides to dig into his own ancestral history. With the help of his sisters, they discover their father has roots in Scotland. They may not be able to travel there in the most conventional way, but the Loud family makes it work, and they finally arrive in the land of tartans and bagpipes.

Upon arrival, the Louds discover their ancestral home is a castle – and the whole town is named for them. The Louds are Scottish royalty, and Lincoln himself is a descendant of a duke. Lincoln dedicates himself to making the town a better place in an effort to have himself coronated as the duke, and even tries to convince his family to move to Scotland. But with a Loud-hating house employee named Morag lurking in the shadows waiting for her chance to kick the Louds out of the castle, settling in their ancestral homeland won’t be as easy as they all might have hoped.

What Movies Will It Remind You Of?:  The Loud House Movie  might remind you a little bit of other beloved animated series, like The Fairly OddParents ,  The Powerpuff Girls , and  Gravity Falls .

Memorable Dialogue: There wasn’t any dialogue I rushed to jot down, though I did get a little kick out of Brian Stepanek saying “ding dang!” in a Scottish accent.

Sex and Skin: None.

Our Take:  As someone who knew little to nothing about  The Loud House  going into this movie, I was pleasantly surprised. With its simple, charming animation style and a delightful cast of characters,  The Loud House Movie  is the kind of kids’ fare that is likely to be enjoyable (or at least tolerable) for the whole family. The family on their own are fun to watch, but throwing them into a setting like Scotland and introducing characters voiced by performers like David Tennant and Michelle Gomez really elevates the whole thing. Tennant’s Angus really does steal the show, with all his Scottish wisdom and the catchy tunes he croons to the Louds as they arrive. Sending a beloved animated family on vacation and turning the tale into a movie is not a new move (helllooooo, Rugrats in Paris ), but  The Loud House Movie  teaches some valuable lessons about kindness, identity, and integrity all while immersing us in the glorious cartoon scenery of Scotland.

Our Call:  STREAM IT. Thanks to standout voice performances from David Tennant and Michelle Gomez, The Loud House Movie , with its catchy tunes and gentle heart, proves itself a worthy addition to the series canon.

The Loud House Movie review – Nickelodeon’s big family makes a small splash

Netflix film The Loud House Movie

The Loud House Movie will keep fans happy but won’t bring in any new audiences with its used, episode-like story.

This review of the Netflix film The Loud House Movie does not contain spoilers.

The Loud House has become Nickelodeon’s go-to animated children’s series. It’s won Daytime Emmys and been nominated for several GLAAD awards, giving the network much-needed ratings boost over the last five years. Despite six seasons of 26 episodes each and a spin-off series, the network wanted more, and so an 83-minute musical, The Loud House Movie , was born.

Following the Loud family on a vacation to Scotland to discover their heritage, first-time director Dave Needham’s film exists as a longer episode of the popular animated series. Centered on the middle, only male child, Lincoln ( Asher Bishop ), the film plays with themes of sibling rivalries, family togetherness, and supporting those closest to you. As family watches go, it serves as a fine way to entertain the kids for an evening.

Though, the film features a few original songs, tuned to a better key and sung by various members of the family, making this technically a musical. There’s no need for it to be one, and it detracts from the sweet, sometimes saccharine, message of familial bonding and limitless love. The musical nature of The Loud House Movie leans into the corporate entity behind the scenes, a disingenuous aspect to a rather positive-leaning film.

The central plot of The Loud House Movie sees Lincoln learn that the family is descended from royalty, with his direct ancestor being the Duke of the town. To outshine his sisters and finally be in the spotlight, he becomes this Duke, helping out the townspeople until he wins their approval. Surrounding him are castles and dragons and the magic of Scotland and the possibility of him being as special as his sisters. Resentment never creeps into this story or this family, though, remaining light and airy up until the end.

Opposing the Louds is the maid of the castle, Morag (Michelle Gomez), a great name for a villain that’s poorly constructed, even for a kids’ program. She simply doesn’t like the Loud family because…they’re loud. She likes her peace and quiet, and to reach that level of peace and quiet, she’ll do anything, such as burning down her hometown. Morag grows to be an odd villain for kids, as she’s someone who, too, remains committed to her family. She just wants to appease the ghosts still living in her ancestral tree, finding the calm that her family has always lacked. She goes from being a nuisance to a full-on menace in the span of twenty or so minutes, further suspending any belief that she would become such a monster to the only place she’s called home.

It can hardly sustain its nearly hour and a half runtime in terms of story, but the family seems to be having fun, so it’s easy to enjoy the ride with them. The voice performances do the job and the colorful, bright animation should sustain children’s eyeballs throughout the runtime, even if the adults in the room aren’t having as much fun. The songs don’t add much to the film’s enjoyment, but it has enough warmth to overpower its corporate tendencies. And what kid wouldn’t want a pet dragon?

Movie Review

It’s not easy being Loud.

Well, maybe it is. Especially when you’re a family of 13. But the point I’m trying to make is that it’s not always easy being Lincoln Loud.

I mean, Lincoln is a great brother, a super organizer and a good all-around kid. But compared to his 10 vivacious, talented and generally spotlight-worthy sisters, he’s kind of a less-than-special-but-right-about-average boy.

The Loud family’s house may be chock-full of trophies and ribbons, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find one with a boy’s name on it. And when neighbors step up to pat Mr. or Mrs. Loud on the back and praise them for their kids’ accomplishments, “You must be proud of your girls ,” is what most often comes out of their mouths.

Don’t think Lincoln hasn’t noticed.

Lincoln’s best friend, Clyde, tries to pooh-pooh the idea of having to be special . Still, the fact is that Clyde is pretty special at baking. When Clyde attributes his gifted abilities to his family coming from a long line of bakers, however, a light bulb lights up in Lincoln’s head.

What if he could dig into his dad’s family history? There’s bound to be something that male Louds have been good at. Maybe that’ll help Lincoln find his special niche.

And before you can say “Caledonia,” the whole Loud clan is packing up and heading off for a vacation in Dad’s ancestral homeland of Scotland!

Lincoln hopes he might find some genetic connection to being really good at, oh, I don’t know, dragon hunting or bell tower-building . But what they find is something altogether unexpected. They stumble upon a town called Loch Loud—a whole town with their name on!

Not only that, but the townsfolk become pretty excited when they learn who’s arrived for a visit. Turns out the Loud family is nothing less than direct relations to the royal family that founded Loch Loud. They’re royalty , by gum! And young Lincoln, why he’s nothin’ shy of a duke .

Now, that’s special. And as the Louds move in for a stay at the nearby castle, Lincoln can’t help but think of what he’ll need to do to make this duke thing stick. I mean, as an honest-to-goodness royal he could do … duke stuff: dub knights and junk. That may be exactly what he was born to do.

Hey, it’s cooler than building bell towers.

Positive Elements

Lincoln, really, really, really wants to be as extraordinary as his sisters all seem to be. But through the course of the film, he gradually learns that it’s OK when your siblings land in the spotlight of public attention more than you do (especially if they deserve it). Supporting, organizing, and encouraging are all very important and incredibly helpful activities, too. And they require a special set of skills.

Conversely, the movie suggests that sometimes people can do foolish, and even harmful, things when they selfishly seek attention or power. And that can be destructive and hurtful to others as well as to the people who make those kinds of choices.

After a few self-serving stumbles, Lincoln makes wise choices; his sisters, parents, and others praise him for those thoughtful decisions. They also rally together to help Lincoln when he’s in need. The family members also enjoy one another and express their love for each other.

By movie’s end, a good and loyal servant is justly rewarded with the authority and power that others seek.

Spiritual Elements

Lincoln’s sister Lucy is generally bleak and grim, and her interests are as gloomy as her perpetually black wardrobe. She’s a member of the Junior Morticians, for example, and we see that she sleeps in a coffin (which also happens to house a few bats).

All of that dark, deathly focus leads to Lucy sitting in a ring of candles while in the Scottish castle, calling out to past Louds who once walked those hallways. (We see an ancestral family portrait and the earlier Louds looked like exact doppelgangers of the current Loud family.)

Lucy then meets her ghostly family counterpart, Lucielle. She helps Lucy and Lincoln figure out some of the deceit being carried out by the current caretaker, Morag. And later, the ghosts of all of the members in the ancestral Loud family portrait show up.

The caretaker, Morag, digs up a diary of her great-great-grandmother; it reveals how that woman ran the original Loud family off some 400 years ago using a magic gem. Morag uses that same gem to hypnotize a dragon and cause havoc in the local town (blaming it all on Lincoln).

Sexual & Romantic Content

Lincoln’s sister Leni meets a young boy in Scotland (coincidentally named Scott), and they take a shine to each other. Eventually she gives him a light peck on the cheek.

Violent Content

Morag uses a magic gem to control a large dragon and causes it to demolish the town. Buildings and bridges are smashed and singed by dragon’s breath.

Characters get tossed about from time to time, or tumble around in slapstick falls. And Morag threatens people with her control over the massive dragon and its fiery breath.

Crude or Profane Language

No foul language. But people do cry out exclamations like “stupid phone,” “you fool” and “ninny!” And others make some exclamations such as “Blow me bagpipes” and “What the … sheep!”

Drug & Alcohol Content

Other noteworthy elements.

There’s potty humor scattered throughout this animated flick. Lincoln’s baby sister and her regularly dirty diaper get quite a bit of screen time, for instance. Morag gets hit in the face with one of those soiled missles, while also falling into a wheel barrel full of fertilizer.

Another example of that brand of humor includes Lincoln coming out and striking what he assumes is a royal pose. His siblings ask what he’s doing. “I’m dukeing, ” he replies. “Right in front of us?” one sister asks. “You know we have our own bathrooms now,” another snorts. (One could read a smidgen of innuendo into that last exchange.)

We also see Morag deceive people and boldly lie to people’s faces.

It’s not easy to be the only brother in a huge chorus of female siblings in the Loud homestead. But it’s kinda fun to sit back and watch them all sing and dance about.

Based on a Nickelodeon series that’s run for five seasons now, The Loud House Movie is a nicely balanced musical that somehow gives all of the kids—with their distinctive personalities and quirks—a moment to shine. All the while, it also delivers a rollicking, giggle-packed tale of castles, dragons and backstabbing caretakers.

There is quite a bit of potty humor here, however. It ranges from dirty diaper splats to giggles over smelly athletic supporters and the like. There’s also a dark magic gem in the story mix. And one sister, Lucy, who’s obsessed with death and darkness, stirs up the ghosts of her deceased Loud ancestors. It’s all done with a cartoony glee, but moms and dads may find some of those mild caveats a little too frown worthy.

For families that choose to talk through those issues, there’s quite a bit to enjoy and appreciate in this full-voiced little musical. That includes some rambunctious celebrations of family life and sibling love, and a few solid encouragements to serve others and put their needs before your own.

The Loud House Movie (2021)

  • User Reviews
  • In the beginning, Lincoln feels like he's living in his sisters' shadows and thinks he isn't special or talented like them, and many people give the sisters attention, which made me feel bad for him. Though later on in the movie, the sisters tell him how he's special.
  • We meet the ancestors of the Louds, especially Lucille. Though I really did wish the rest of her family's name was revealed. Like Lincoln's ancestor, who was the duke. We viewers didn't learn his name.
  • During the climax, the family shows worries and concern for Lincoln, when the town Loch Loud gets destroyed, but it wasn't Lincoln's fault. They also care for him when having to try and stop Morag, which is good.

A synopsis of the story

Lincoln Loud (voiced by Asher Bishop) lives in Royal Wood, USA, with his mother, father and 10 talented sisters, Lori, Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lucy, Lola, Lana, Lisa, and Lily. Always feeling in their shadows, Lincoln longs for something that would make him as special as his sisters. After discovering his family are the ancestral owners of Loch Loud in Scotland, Lincoln takes over as the rightful Duke of the town. With the help of Castle Loud’s groundskeeper, Angus (voiced by David Tennant), Lincoln helps improve the village and life for its people. Meanwhile, Morag (voiced by Michelle Gomez), the quiet-loving and grouchy caretaker, does everything in her power to remove Lincoln and his family from the town, just as her ancestors did to the Louds 400 years ago.

Themes info

Children and adolescents may react adversely at different ages to themes of crime, suicide, drug and alcohol dependence, death, serious illness, family breakdown, death or separation from a parent, animal distress or cruelty to animals, children as victims, natural disasters and racism. Occasionally reviews may also signal themes that some parents may simply wish to know about.

Belonging; Social and family exclusion.

Use of violence info

Research shows that children are at risk of learning that violence is an acceptable means of conflict resolution when violence is glamourised, performed by an attractive hero, successful, has few real life consequences, is set in a comic context and / or is mostly perpetrated by male characters with female victims, or by one race against another.

Repeated exposure to violent content can reinforce the message that violence is an acceptable means of conflict resolution. Repeated exposure also increases the risks that children will become desensitised to the use of violence in real life or develop an exaggerated view about the prevalence and likelihood of violence in their own world.

There is some violence in this movie, including:

  • Cartoon slapstick violence – characters falling out of windows, being hit with objects – no one is injured, and these sequences are intended to be comedic.

Material that may scare or disturb children

Under five info.

Children under five are most likely to be frightened by scary visual images, such as monsters, physical transformations.

In addition to the above-mentioned violent scenes, there are some scenes in this movie that could scare or disturb children under the age of five, including the following:

  • Morag is depicted as giant and menacing, while singing about becoming a duchess – this may frighten very young children.
  • The ghosts of the original Loud family are summoned.
  • Lela the dragon is turned evil by Morag and becomes menacing in behaviour and appearance, and nearly incinerates the family with her fire breath – this may frighten younger children.

Aged five to eight info

Children aged five to eight will also be frightened by scary visual images and will also be disturbed by depictions of the death of a parent, a child abandoned or separated from parents, children or animals being hurt or threatened and / or natural disasters.

In addition to the above-mentioned violent scenes and scary visual images, there are some scenes in this movie that could scare or disturb children aged five to eight, including the following:

  • Lela the dragon is possessed by Morag and throws Lincoln from her back – Lincoln is not hurt, but this may distress some children.

Aged eight to thirteen info

Children aged eight to thirteen are most likely to be frightened by realistic threats and dangers, violence or threat of violence and / or stories in which children are hurt or threatened.

  • Nothing further of concern.

Product placement

  • None noted.

Sexual references

Nudity and sexual activity, use of substances, coarse language.

There is some coarse language in this movie, including:

In a nutshell

The Loud House Movie is an animated, musical movie based on the television series of the same name. With a simple story line, fun characters, and strong themes of belonging, teamwork, and doing the right thing, this film is likely to entertain a family audience. However, due to cartoon violence and visually menacing characters that may frighten younger children, this film is not suitable for children under 5 and parental guidance is recommended to 8.

The main messages from this movie are that being motivated by generosity and a desire to help others is better than being motivated by a desire to be famous or have power; that appreciating yourself and what makes you special is important; and that teamwork makes difficult tasks easier.

Values in this movie that parents may wish to reinforce with their children include:

  • Inclusiveness

This movie could also give parents the opportunity to discuss with their children attitudes and behaviours, and their real-life consequences, such as:

  • The dangers of fire twirling – Lola Loud plays with fire during her talent show.

What You Need To Know:

Miscellaneous Immorality: At times there is the presence of jealousy, grudges, pride, deceit, and manipulation, but all this is ultimately rebuked, plus one sister likes to sleep in a coffin.

More Detail:

THE LOUD HOUSE MOVIE is a zany animated musical comedy on Netflix that follows a boy and his 10 sisters, along with their parents, on a trip to Scotland. Based on an animated Nickelodeon series, THE LOUD HOUSE MOVIE is very funny, with delightful music and dancing, but the movie’s pro-family, morally uplifting content is spoiled by an occult, unbiblical subplot about a magical stone and a ghost helping the family.

Lincoln feels overshadowed by his 10 sisters, so he’s on a mission to find his family roots in Scotland, hoping it will help him find out why he is special. Special indeed. The Loud family discovers they are royalty and own a castle. The movie champions the importance and love of family, has pro-life themes as the family loves and welcomes babies, and promotes the idea that real power requires service. However, a main character conjures up a dead person’s ghost in a séance, and the ghost helps her and her family. There are also some scary images involving a hypnotized dragon ordered to breathe fire at some innocent people.

Lincoln is the only boy in his very large family. He is loving, kind, caring, and adorable, as he teaches his youngest baby sister the ropes on how to survive in a big family. Taking charge to help his ten sisters succeed, Lincoln is a model son and brother. The parents panic when they realize all 10 girls have a special event on the same day. Even after he misses out on breakfast, Lincoln throws himself into action. He arranges activities for his siblings. All he asks for in return is a place in the family.

Lincoln becomes disgruntled, however, when no one realizes he’s missing from the family photo. As a result, he feels lost and under-appreciated. Becoming more and more disillusioned, Lincoln confides in his friend from school. He recognizes that everyone else has a talent, or character trait, that makes them special. He doesn’t see anything about himself that makes him special. His friend brings Lincoln to the realization that he must find his family roots to discover what makes him special.

So, Lincoln sends his Dad’s DNA sample to an ancestry specialist. They trace the Loud family back to Scotland. The whole family is excited when they arrive in Scotland and discover that they have royal ancestry. In fact, the whole town, Loch Loud, is named after the family. The large clan celebrates arriving at their newly found family castle.

Upon further investigation, Lincoln finds out he’s the descendant of a young Duke who looked exactly like him. He has finally found something that makes him feel special. In an effort to outshine everyone else for a change, he decides to claim his crown as the rightful Duke of Loch Loud. Relishing his new role, Lincoln forgets all about his attitude of service, however. He becomes fixated on power. Angus, the castle groundskeeper, urges Lincoln to use his power to serve the people of Loch Loud and make improvements to the town.

Meanwhile, the Loud family finds out that the loch around which the town was built has always had a protector, a real dragon. They discover a hatched egg, and a baby dragon greets them. Lincoln’s baby sister, Lily, starts feeding the baby dragon some of their father’s breakfast burritos, and the baby grows exponentially into a full-fledged dragon with wings. Also, Lincoln’s sister, Lucy, conjures the ghost of a Loud ancestor who looks just like her.

Meanwhile, the castle’s female caretaker, Morag, uses deceit, manipulation, and Lincoln’s jealousy for his sisters to banish the family forever.

THE LOUD HOUSE MOVIE is very entertaining and funny, with delightful music and dancing. The main character shows great Christian virtues involving love and care for his family. However, THE LOUD HOUSE MOVIE as some potty humor and some scary moments where the villain hypnotizes a dragon. Worse, one of the hero’s 10 sisters conjures up the ghost of a dead relative, and the ghost helps the family. This occult content makes THE LOUD HOUSE MOVIE unacceptable entertainment. God condemns the occult practice of conjuring up the ghosts of dead people in Deuteronomy 18:10-12.

I was going to wait till August so I can rant about my problems with this show along with the movie but I didn't feel like waiting for that long so instead I'm going to discuss it right now. I did a rant like this before but I wasn't proud with it so I want to dissect it better.

This show had been quite frustrating for me over the last little while from going from good to really bad. There are some characters I do like and there are some good episodes, but the problems lies on the writing, how they treat their main characters and some of the lessons having bad executions while having “funny” hijinks at the same…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

A couple months ago, I discuss my thoughts on The Loud House, and how the show dipped in quality around Season 5 with the premiere of Schooled (which is on par with Doug Walker’s review of The Wall in terms of missing the point). So now after 5 years, we finally get a chance to watch the Louds in their big adventure. Be warned though. This review will contain spoilers throughout.

So what are my overall thoughts on The Loud House Movie? Well it’s not very good but not in the same category as Thunder Force and Chaos Walking. I like the opening as well as the song as it introduces the family, Lincoln’s ark of wanting something to achieve…

Holy fuck this was bad. The Loud House is a pretty good show, (at least for the first season) it's likable and charming for the most part, but geez this was fucking terrible, the story was very boring and very bad, it has a very generic "I don't fit in" and "I'm not good enough" message which is done in almost every modern animated movie it feels, and is very generic. Lincoln is the duke for most of the movie and there's this woman named Morag I think? She's very generic as well. Also very unfunny, I don't even think I smiled once during the damn thing. There are also these terrible songs, especially the first one that Lincoln sings…

The Loud House Movie

The Loud House Movie premiered on 20th August 2021 on Netflix. Directed by Dave Needham, the 86-minute long live-action television film stars Asher Bishop, Catherine Taber, Grey Griffin, Michelle Gomez, Brian Stepanek, Jessica DiCicco, Andre Robinson, and Katy Townsend alongside other cast members.

– The Loud House Movie review does not contain spoilers –

The Loud Family!

The Loud House Movie revolves around the Loud family consisting of bossy eldest child Lori, ditzy fashionista Leni, musician Luna, comedian Luan, athletic Lynn Jr., gloomy poetic goth Lucy, polar opposite twins Lana and Lola, child genius Lisa, and baby Lily But things take a turn when the Louds decide to take a vacation and go to Scotland, their father’s ancestral place. There they discover that they are descendants of Scottish royalty. Thereafter, the Loud family quickly indulges in the most wish-fulfilling high-life ever in their Loud caste with a twist of an evil caretaker Morag!

The Loud House Movie is a simple yet enjoyable movie that tells you it is not always important for an individual to win trophies and medals to be significant sometimes life is more than that. It is about who takes care of you and makes you able enough to reach and achieve your goals. In the film, Lincoln often feels like he is under the shadow of his sisters and is insignificant but that isn’t the case. You might as well find Lincoln’s character a little relatable in some moments!

The Loud House Movie

The film is mostly targeted at a younger audience and makes up for a decent family watch. There are good and evil, dragon, and some adorable sibling moments. Even though the Loud House Movie falls under the genre of a musical there aren’t many songs that’ll make you feel like that. While the show strays away from its original series a little bit here, it still manages to keep the movie somehow. Undeniably, there are no exact witty or funny moments here and the plotline is predictable but what stands out to me here is the lesson the film aims to give even though it slightly fails at leaving an impact.

The Loud House Movie

SKIP IT! The Loud House Movie fails to leave an impact on viewers in terms of its message or characters. One will easily forget the movie minutes after watching it, it does not stick with you. It feels as if the film had all the elements but failed to put it together with perfection or good animation!

The Loud House Movie is streaming now on Netflix .

Lincoln Loud (voiced by Asher Bishop) lives in Royal Wood, USA, with his mother, father and 10 talented sisters, Lori, Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lucy, Lola, Lana, Lisa and Lily. Feeling that he’s always in his sisters’ shadows, Lincoln longs for something that will make him as special as they are.

After discovering his family is the ancestral owner of Loch Loud in Scotland, Lincoln takes over as the rightful Duke of the town. With the help of Castle Loud’s groundskeeper, Angus (voiced by David Tennant), Lincoln improves the village and life for its people.

Meanwhile, Morag (voiced by Michelle Gomez), the quiet-loving and grouchy caretaker, does everything in her power to remove Lincoln and his family from the town, just as her ancestors did to the Louds 400 years ago.

Ideas to discuss with your children

The Loud House Movie is an animated, musical movie based on the TV series of the same name. With a simple story, fun characters and strong themes of belonging, teamwork and doing the right thing, this movie is likely to entertain children

Because of its cartoon violence and visually menacing characters, who might frighten younger children, The Loud House Movie isn’t suitable for children under 5 years. We also recommend parental guidance for children aged 5-8 years.

These are the main messages from The Loud House Movie :

  • Generosity and a desire to help others are better motivations than the desire to be famous or have power
  • It’s important to appreciate yourself and what makes you special.
  • Teamwork makes difficult tasks easier.

Values in The Loud House Movie that you could reinforce with your children include generosity, inclusiveness and hard work.

The Loud House Movie could also give you the chance to talk with your children about the real-life consequences of activities like fire twirling. For example, Lola Loud plays with fire during her talent show.

Funny commentary on big-family dynamics has kindly messages.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that The Loud House is a very funny cartoon that looks at the dynamics of a large family as told from the perspective of the long-suffering middle child and only boy. Positive Messages

The show plays up the headaches and minor crises that are routine in a big household, including personality clashes and sibling rivalry. Lincoln and his sisters are forever trying to outdo, outsmart, and outwit each other, which creates some problems and a lot of mayhem, but even when they disagree, they always find common ground and a heartwarming lesson in their experiences. Strong themes of empathy and communication.

Positive Role Models

The Louds' parents are mostly absent from the show, which leaves Lincoln and his sisters to their own devices most of the time. They argue and cause chaos, but every story ends with an affirmation of their concern for each other and their ability to empathize with his plight.

Educational Value

Parents need to know that The Loud House is a very funny cartoon that looks at the dynamics of a large family as told from the perspective of the long-suffering middle child and only boy. Issues such as sibling rivalry are at the heart of the show's laughs, and there's always some kind of personality conflict or other cause for bickering at play. The characters' distinctly different personas inspire laughs, as does the occasional instance of bathroom humor (strange odors and poopy diapers, for instance). Parents are absent from the show, so there's little responsible supervision throughout, but every story winds up with a heartwarming effort on Lincoln's sisters' part to help him in some way. Expect some name-calling ("twerp" and "jerk") but otherwise funny, heartwarming content kids will love.

Parent and Kid Reviews

  • Parents say (110)
  • Kids say (206)

Based on 110 parent reviews

This show is twisted. Child abuse abound.

Common sense media is a joke., what's the story.

THE LOUD HOUSE centers on 11-year-old Lincoln Loud (voiced by Grant Palmer), the lone boy among 10 sisters in a household that's bursting at the seams. Life isn't easy when you're sandwiched between handfuls of girls from tots to teens, and Lincoln relies on his best friend, Clyde (Caleel Harris), to help him survive the daily drama and all kinds of chaos that's routine in this house.

Is It Any Good?

Inspired by personal experience, creator Chris Savino does a great job presenting the ups and downs of life in a big family as seen by the story's indomitable hero, Lincoln. Crucial to the story's appeal are the many distinct personalities of his sisters -- from demanding first child Lori (Catherine Taber) to gloomy emo Lucy ( Jessica Di Cicco ) -- who always manage to throw a wrench into their brother's plans. Sometimes it's on purpose; other times it's by accident, but in every case, it sends Lincoln on a comically desperate mission of self-advocacy to carve out his own place in a house that's overrun by girls.

Kids will come to The Loud House for the laughs, but they'll return for the excellent ensemble cast and the surprisingly heartwarming themes that dominate every story. Sibling rivalry and personality clashes have their rightful place in this show (it's not a fantasy, after all), but each time Lincoln seems ready to throw in the towel on his needs being met, one or more of his sisters come to his rescue in ways that would make any parent proud.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

Families can talk about family dynamics. Kids: Can you relate to how Lincoln and his siblings get along in The Loud House ? What are the benefits to having brothers and sisters? The challenges? If you have siblings , in what ways are you alike, and how are you different?

Kids: Have you ever felt lost in a crowd like Lincoln does? Why is it important to communicate your feelings to your family and friends? Are there times when that's especially difficult to do?

Kids: How does Lincoln rank among your favorite TV characters? Is he a likable fellow? Why, or why not? How would you do things differently if you were in his shoes?

How do the characters in The Loud House demonstrate communication and empathy ? Why are these important character strengths ?
