The Diploma of Education will equip you with an understanding of fundamental teaching principles from a global perspective, focusing on digital learning. Discover how social beliefs and attitudes influence the design and delivery of different forms of education. You'll also gain a greater understanding of the factors influencing students' educational experiences and outcomes, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Ranked in Australia's top 5 for teacher education, Griffith's School of Education and Professional Studies continues to drive the future of education, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to your learning. Our lecturers are among the best in Australia and have been recognised with national teaching awards.

You'll study academic foundations courses on educational technologies, curriculum, ethics, teaching methods, assessment, and world Indigenous knowledges, with additional support and access to a dedicated First Year Coordinator and (PASS) run by high-achieving students.

Understanding pathways

Undertaking a certificate, diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree can help you meet the entry requirements for your preferred degree. These qualifications often provide credit, reducing the duration of your bachelor degree.

There it is.

You can see it.

The degree you're after.

But sometimes, things happen.

You can miss the mark, or miss the boat, or drop the ball, or simply fall short.

Don't worry.

Whatever obstacles lie between you and your degree, there are different pathways at RMIT to help you get there.

The great thing about these pathways is that they're available across a range of study areas and can provide skills and training to help unlock job opportunities.

Many have smaller class sizes and great support from teachers, and they can allow you to gain credits for better studies.

Which means you'll get to your degree sooner than you think.

Visit rmit.edu.au/pathways to find the one that's right for you.

Pathway options

This course offers pathway options. If you don’t meet the entry requirements, a formal pathway might be your way in.

Eligibility Exemption criteria

**The Victorian Government is currently waiving three (3) eligibility criteria around prior qualifications. This means that more people who want to study a vocational education program at RMIT, and who have studied previously, will be able to access a government subsidised place in a program. Find out  how to check your eligibility

Defer your payment

The Australian Government provides financial assistance via the  VET Student Loans scheme , which allows eligible students in eligible programs to defer payment of their tuition fees, up to the maximum loan amount for their program.

Payments and refunds

For information on how to pay your fees or how to apply for a refund, please see  Paying your fees and applying for refunds .

In addition to tuition fees, you will be charged an annual  student services and amenities fee (SSAF) , which is used to maintain and enhance services and amenities that improve your experience as an RMIT student.

Fee assistance

Vet student loans, how does a vet student loan work.

If your VET Student Loan application is successful, the Australian Government will pay RMIT your tuition fees on your behalf, up to the maximum loan amount for your program.

Your VET Student Loan becomes part of your VETSL debt. You will start repaying your accumulated VETSL debt to the Australian Government once you earn above the  minimum income threshold  for repayment, which is adjusted each year (this also applies if you are still studying).

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will calculate your compulsory repayment for the year and include this on your income tax notice.

The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology advises that:

  • VET student loans will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements; and
  • a VET student loan gives rise to a HELP debt that continues to be a debt due to the Commonwealth until it is repaid.

For more information see  VET Student Loans  or  Study Assist .

VET Student Loan cap

If your program is eligible for the VET Student Loan scheme and has a loan cap that doesn’t cover the total amount of the tuition fees for your program, then you’ll need to pay RMIT the difference by the due date once you exceed the cap.

It’s easy for you to  keep track of your VET Student Loan debt , and you can choose to make upfront payments at any time before the census date.

RMIT awards more than 2000 scholarships every year to recognise academic achievement and assist students from a variety of backgrounds.

Sample Program Structure

First trimester.

The Diploma of Educational Studies is designed to transition seamlessly into the highly-regarded Bachelor of Education at Griffith University, majoring in either Primary or Secondary Education.

Academic & Professional Skills Development (1201QBT)

The course offers students a broad introduction to the skills involved in acquiring information and in displaying knowledge to others. It includes the basic knowledge and skills required to successfully participate in an undergraduate degree program and to operate effectively in a professional context.

Understanding Lifelong Learner (1499EDN)

The course places the learning and developmental needs of preservice teachers in primary and secondary education settings within the broader frame of lifelong learning which promotes self-directed learning across the lifespan, including the self-directed learning of preservice teachers.

Assessment plan:

  • Online quiz (5%)
  • Assignment – written assignment (35%)
  • Exam – selected and constructed responses (60%)

Communication for Teaching and Learning (1199EDN)

This is a core first year course and has no pre-requisite, co-requisite or prior-assumed course requirements. This course enables students to examine, understand and develop theoretical perspectives and practical applications of professional and personal communication in educational environments.

Second Trimester

Foundations of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment (1799EDN)

Students will identify, examine, apply and evaluate the principles and practices of curriculum design, programming and the selection of pedagogical strategies for quality teaching and learning. The course emphasises theory/practice connections and balances internationally recognised theoretical principles with practical, constructive applications.

Educational Technologies for Teaching and Learning (1299EDN)

Teaching and learning in the digital age demands that all teachers have more than a casual familiarity of the relationships between their content area knowledge, pedagogical (teaching skills) knowledge, and their technological knowledge. This course focuses on introducing a variety of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools and strategies that teachers can utilise to effectively engage students and diversify their learning opportunities across subject areas. Lectures, in conjunction with 1:1 computer activities, will provide opportunities for you as a pre-service teacher to develop and demonstrate your technical skills as well as time to investigate contemporary issues mandated by employing bodies.

Developing Professional Identity and Practice (1202QBT)

This course focuses on teaching as a profession of choice (considering intrinsic, extrinsic, and altruistic factors) and the role of the teacher in the 21st Century. It investigates contemporary viewpoints and socio-cultural perspectives on teacher-learner interactions. Critically, the classroom as the dominant context for learning and teaching is considered alongside contemporary perspectives about authentic learning experiences and opportunities for contextual learning.

General Mathematics (FND114)

This course is designed for students who require a general mathematics background suitable for studies in business, health sciences, IT and engineering. It includes basic arithmetic, algebra, functions and their graphs, logarithms, growth and decay, finance and trigonometry.

Third Trimester

Education and Society (1399EDN)

Education and the work of teachers is shaped by historical and cultural contexts. Over time, beliefs about what it means to be a ‘good student’ and ‘good teacher’ change and evolve. This course examines the ways in which social beliefs and attitudes influence the design and delivery of different forms of education, and the way these beliefs shape students’ educational experiences and outcomes. We study issues relating to the education of Australia’s diverse student population. We emphasise the importance of educators having a detailed and informed knowledge base relating to diversity and social justice which they can draw upon when responding to their students’ needs and emphasis the crucial role that reflective practice plays in helping educators understand their own attitudes.

Philosophy and Ethics in Education (1699EDN)

Diplomas and Degrees: What’s the difference?

Written by NDA senior tutor,  Vicky McClymont

Choosing which course to study (and indeed, where) can be a daunting task at the best of times, but throw in the confusion of academic qualification terminology such as Diploma, Degree, Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) or Higher National Diploma (HND), you’d be forgiven in trying to demystify what these terms actually mean as well as trying to determine which level of study is best suited for you.

Here at the National Design Academy, we are fortunate enough to teach across a broad spectrum of qualification levels, as well as course subjects.  The qualification level structure of our courses allows students to undertake a full progression route from FE (Further Education) level, through to undergraduate HE (Higher Education), finishing at postgraduate study.  Many of our students follow this progression route, but some of the common questions we receive when students progress from our Diploma course to a Degree, is “What’s the difference between the two courses?” and “What can I expect from studying a Degree?”  Here, we aim to unravel what sets these two levels apart and help you to determine which qualification is best for you.

Before we look at the difference between a Diploma and a Degree, it is probably best to acknowledge what is meant by different ‘levels’ of study, and here, we will refer to those levels associated with England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Scotland has a slightly different level structure).

In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, there are eight levels of study, and in an academic sense, a level of study reflects the depth of knowledge taught at each stage, as well as the quality of student output expected.  The level structure is comparable to the different stages of the education system, and can be broken down as such:

Level 1 – G.C.S.E level (grades D-G, or 3-1)

Level 2 – G.C.S.E level (grades A*-C, or 9-4)

Level 3 – AS and A level

Level 4 – The first year of an undergraduate Degree

Level 5 – The second year of an undergraduate Degree

Level 6 – The third year of an undergraduate Degree

Level 7 – A Master’s Degree

Level 8 – A Doctorate or PhD

What is a Diploma?

Diploma, Diploma of Higher Education, Higher National Diploma, Graduate Diploma; all different qualification levels but consistent in their terminology – so what actually is a Diploma, what level of study does it equate to, and is it right for me?

A Diploma qualification refers to the number of learning credits a student will study and aim to achieve in a course, but a Diploma can be awarded for any level, i.e. a Level 2 Diploma, Level 3 Diploma and so on.  A student studying a Level 3 Diploma, for example, will study a course equivalent to A-Level standard, and is also a qualification which can be used for entry on to a Degree course.

The NDA delivers all of their professional Diploma qualifications to Level 3 standards; this means that there are certain expectations and requirements that students must meet (set not only by the NDA, but also by the awarding body, AIM Awards).  It is important for a student to acknowledge when they undertake any type of formal education (either with the NDA or otherwise), as to what level the course is to be studied at, as this gives the student clear expectations as to the quality, depth, knowledge and understanding of a subject expected within the submission of work.

Is a Diploma course right for me?

Deciding to study any course is a big decision in itself (particularly if you are doing this alongside a busy work and/or home life) so before undertaking such a commitment, it is important to make sure that the course is the right one for you.

Below are a few questions to ask yourself before enrolling on a Diploma course:

  • Is the subject one that I will enjoy and have an interest in?

Whatever your motive for undertaking a course (whether it is to simply develop your knowledge, or to use the course as a stepping stone in developing or changing your career) it is so important that you enjoy the topic.  The effort, dedication and successful outcome of your course largely depends on the level of enjoyment and interest you have in the topic.

  • What is the best way to study, for me?

Long gone are the days where being present in a classroom environment is the only way to learn and achieve those longed-for qualifications.  The education environment has changed so much that courses can be studied full-time, part-time, in a classroom, by distance learning or a combination of the above (depending on the educational provider).  All NDA courses are studied via distance learning, with the additional bonus that any of our professional Diploma courses can also be studied via an intensive studio-based delivery.  This provides students with lots of options to determine which mode of study is best for them.

  • Where should I study?

Along with the benefit of flexible learning modes (i.e. distance learning) this makes it easy for lots of students to now be able to study from home, rather than having their options narrowed to institutions located near home.  Being able to study via distance learning opens up so many opportunities for students, therefore location of the institution no longer becomes an issue.

  • Is the course accredited?

Committing yourself to studying for a period of time (whether this be months or years) needs to be worth it in the long-run.  Why undertake a course if you are not going to be certified or accredited for the work you undertake?  Ensuring you undertake an accredited course is particularly important if you are intending to study at a higher level following the successful completion of your Diploma course.  In order to study at Degree level, you will need to evidence that you have undertaken an accredited qualification equivalent to A-Level standard (whether this be an A-Level, a Level 3 Diploma, a BTEC, Level 3 NVQ, for example).  Some courses that can be studied, particularly online, are not accredited by a recognised organisation – it is important to check before you start the course, whether it is accredited or not as this could impact upon the success of your application to higher study.  All NDA professional Diploma courses are accredited by AIM Awards.

  • What level of knowledge do I need and what are the expectations of me?

As with any course, it is the journey of learning that is most important, rather than where you start from.  Many Diploma courses (such as those offered by the NDA) don’t require students to have any prior knowledge of the subject they study, but there is an expectation that students will be able to equip themselves properly to the level of study.

A course delivered at a Level 3 standard will ask students to evidence their understanding, interpretation and knowledge in a number of ways, using certain terminology appropriate to the level.  Further down in the blog, you will see a comparison table of terminology required and used at Diploma (Level 3) and Degree level.

What is a Degree?

A Degree course is the stage in your education where you develop key skills, enhance your knowledge and communication in a certain subject, and become more critical in your thinking.  The level of study has a strength in academia (even in creative subjects) and from a design perspective, encourages students to become more conceptual and to challenge preconceived ideas.

In order to study on a Degree course, entry requirements will necessitate a student to evidence an accredited qualification, equivalent to Level 3 study, or in some cases, allow a student (mature) to demonstrate relevant industry experience by submission of a portfolio.

A standard Degree course (i.e. a BA (Hons) or BSc) consists of three levels of study (Levels 4, 5 and 6) with each level of study building on the knowledge, depth, and enquiry undertaken previously.  Level 4 study allows students to develop their overall learning skills, to develop an awareness and understanding of a broad range of subject knowledge, research methods, presentation methods, and in a design-related capacity, to enhance design understanding, creative development and conceptual consolidation.  Level 5 study builds on this initial foundation, enhancing the breadth and depth of study, building on theory and exploration, as well as developing a student’s key analytical and critiquing skills.  Level 6 encompasses all of the above, but again, the expectations are heightened, usually following an independent study path.

What is important to understand when undertaking a Degree course, however, is this isn’t simply just a “Diploma with a bit more” or a “Diploma +”.  The same goes for the transition from Level 4 to Level 5, and Level 5 to Level 6.  The level is not the same as before but with a bit more added on; the expectation, the outcome, the depth, the breadth, the exploration, the critique, the analysis – this is all enhanced, challenged and assessed in a different, more sophisticated manner, and the work produced by the student should reflect this.

A comparison of terminology

In order to compare the levels of study and expectations required between a Diploma and Degree course, the below table gives an indication of the type of terminology you would expect to see.  The table should give a clear indication as to how assignments are written, how Tutors/assessors will critique your work and how the output of student work should continually develop to reflect the requirements of higher levels of study.

As noted above, embarking on further or higher education is a decision that should be considered carefully, and be considered from the approach of whether you, as a student, feel confident and capable of achieving the standards required.  There are no expectations that a student should be fully equipped to be able to meet the standards required immediately from the very outset of a course; the skills, knowledge and understanding of the subject will be developed throughout the course with the support of Tutors, but it is always good to have an idea of what the expectations are from the outset, so you, as the student, know what you need to achieve.

We hope this blog has helped in the understanding of the difference between Diploma and Degree level study, and assisted in the decision as to which level of study is best for you. To see our Diplomas and Degrees, you can visit our website !

I love that the explanation is delivered in a succinct manner.

My experience of a degree was, sadly, not as laid out above. I found tutors to be wholly unsupportive and that I was expected to ‘just know’ the answers without any training. My experience tarred my view of higher education and left me feeling like it was a complete waste of time, energy and money.

Having said all of that, I wish I had found this course first!

I am currently studying at Diploma level and love the topic of Interior Design, even the technical drawing (which I thought I’d do terribly at) is really well explained with excellent resources. If I could change things, I would like to have done this Diploma study years ago and to be studying for my degree or even masters in Interior Design now. If the course runs as explained above, it sounds like a much better deal than the one I received.

Very good article on the latest trending topics. It was really good content. This is one of the most incredible blogs I’ve read in a very long time.

Thankyou Vicky, Your Blog has answered all my questions and has resolved all my doubts. I am a 46 year old man, I have been a Chef since leaving High School in 1990. Due to a serious injury I have had to change careers, it’s quite late in life but if I do the hard work now at Uni I could still have a good 15 to 20 years work left in me yet. Thanks again Vicky

Careers Events

Careers Events are a core component of the programme. They provide students with opportunities to learn about job application processes, to hear from principals and first-year teachers about their teaching experiences, to develop their professional identity, and to have mock interviews with secondary school principals. These events help pre-service teachers to prepare for the transition into a teaching career.

WES Credential Evaluations for Russian Students

The estimated population of Russia is 142 million. With a literacy rate of 98 percent, Russia is one of the most educated countries in Western Europe. In this post, we will review the structure of Russian education and how Russian students translate their education to North American education standards through a credential evaluation.

The official language of instruction in Russia is Russian. However, citizens of the Russian Federation have the right to receive basic general education in their native language.  Academic years in Russia run from September to June. The Ministry of Education and Science and the Federal Services for Supervision in Education and Science both administer education programs in Russia. This system consists of both compulsory general education and higher education.

General education in Russia has three distinct stages:

  • Primary education: Lasts four years
  • Basic general education: Lasts five years
  • Secondary education: Lasts two to three years

Secondary Education

After completing 11 years of secondary general education and after passing the state final attestation (final examinations), students are awarded Certificate of General Secondary Education or Attestat ob Sredem Obshchem Obrazovanii. This certificate allows them to continue vocational education or both non-university and university level education.

The World Education Services (WES) U.S. equivalency for this credential is a high school diploma; the Canadian equivalency is a secondary school diploma. The major for both the U.S. and Canadian equivalency is general academic. Students benefit from having a high school WES evaluation report because they can use it to continue their education in the U.S. or Canada.

Higher Education (University)

These are the most common university higher education credentials evaluated at WES:

Diploma of Specialist ( Diplom )

  • Bachelor’s degree ( Bakalavr )
  • Master’s degree ( Magistr )
  • Candidate of science ( Kandidat Nauk )

Read below for more information on these degrees and their equivalency to U.S. and Canadian degrees:

This degree usually requires five years of full-time study or one to two years after the completion of a bakalavr degree . The admission requirement for a diploma of specialist is the diploma of completion of secondary school education. The professional diploma of specialist in medicine, veterinary medicine, and dentistry requires five to six years of study. This program allows students to access doctorate programs in Russia.

There are two facets of the diploma of specialist degree:

  • Non-professional diploma of specialist: WES equates this degree that has a five-year program length with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the U.S. and Canada. This degree is granted in all disciplines and majors except medicine, veterinary medicine, and dentistry.
  • Diploma of specialist: WES equates this degree that has a one- to two-year program length with a master’s degree in the U.S. and Canada. The professional diploma of specialist is equated to a first professional degree in medicine, veterinary medicine, or dentistry.

Bachelor’s Degree ( Bakalavr )

This degree is awarded after four years of full-time study and the diploma of completion of secondary school education is required for admission to this program. The award of the bakalavr program grants access to the magistr or diploma of specialist. The U.S. and Canadian WES equivalency for this program is a bachelor’s degree (four years of study). The bakalavr is awarded across all disciplines and majors except medicine, veterinary medicine, and dentistry.

Master’s Degree ( Magistr )

This is an academic degree for students who want to pursue a career in academia. Students can complete the program within two years or less. The admission requirement for this program is the bakalavr or diploma of specialist . The U.S. and Canadian WES equivalency for this program is a master’s degree (across all academic disciplines). Russian students are eligible to apply for a doctorate program after earning a magistr degree.

Candidate of Science ( Kandidat Nauk )

This is one of the highest university credentials in Russia. It takes a minimum of three years to complete this program. First, students need to complete their magistr or diploma of specialist degree; then, they might qualify to pursue the kandidat nauk . The U.S. and Canadian WES equivalency for this program is a doctorate (in any academic discipline).

For more information on U.S. and Canadian degree equivalencies, please use our degree equivalency tool . To calculate what your GPA will be worth, try our free iGPA Calculator .

WES Required Documents

Here are some required documents you will need for your evaluation:

  • Secondary education: Secondary school transcript issued and sent by the institution attended (as of May 2021).
  • Higher Education: Academic transcript issued and sent by the institution attended (as of May 2021).

For more information on which documents are acceptable for WES evaluation, please visit the required documents section of the WES website.

GED vs. High School Diploma: What’s the Difference?

A high school diploma signifies high school graduation. It shows you attended and passed all the required classes in a traditional high school setting.

The GED credential is a high school equivalency diploma. It shows you passed four high school equivalency tests, demonstrating you have the same knowledge as a traditional high school graduate.

Perhaps the time requirement is the key difference in the GED vs. high school diploma question. Traditional high school students typically need four years to complete classes and graduate. The GED is a 7-hour test. For most people, preparing for it takes less than a year. In most states, you can take the GED tests any time after age 16.

As you can see, the difference between a diploma and a GED is not significant. Both allow students to join the workforce, launch a career, or attend college.

Is a GED Equivalent to a Diploma?

Most colleges and employers see the GED and a high school diploma as the same. Just under 100% of U.S. schools accept the GED, including community colleges, private secondary or technical institutes, and universities.

Coupling your GED with a decent ACT or SAT score will improve your chances of getting accepted into a top school. Or, you can bypass other standardized tests with a GED College-Ready score, awarded to those who earn a high score on their GED tests.

Because the GED is equivalent to a high school diploma, in addition to using it to register for college, you can also use it to apply for a job.

Many employers view these achievements equally when it comes to a GED vs. a high school diploma, and getting a GED can lead to a higher salary. Many GED graduates can make around $8,500 more annually than those without a GED or diploma.

Which Option Is Best for You?

What’s the difference between a high school diploma vs. GED? And which should you pursue? Both choices open up possibilities for a higher salary, additional education, and professional advancement.

High school diplomas can provide excellent preparation for an entry-level job or college studies. It’s an ideal option for those with the time and whose personal life situations make it possible to attend.

However, some students may need to leave high school for many reasons, including family obligations. In those instances, a GED may be the best option.

What Is a GED?

The General Educational Development Test consists of four subject tests that, once passed, earn you a high school equivalency credential. The four subjects are language arts, math, social studies, and science.

Does this sound familiar? If so, it’s because they’re subjects commonly taught in high school. You will have earned your credential after you successfully pass these four exams. What does this do? It proves you have a grade 12 education—even without a traditional diploma.

How Did the GED Get Started?

Evaluation of Foreign Degrees

Global Community Liaison Office

For certain Federal positions (e.g. Civil Service, Expanded Professional Associates Program) applicants may need to submit proof of education (such as copies of transcript(s) and diploma(s)) as a part of the application. Proof of education requirements will vary from one program/position to another, and it is important that the applicant reads carefully which document(s) is/are required in the application package (e.g. High School diploma or GED certificate, or Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree). Submitted document(s) need to be legible copies of U.S. college/university transcript(s) that include degree(s) (if any) awarded and course work completed, and if requested, a copy of the diploma.

Foreign education transcripts will not be accepted. Foreign education (that is education acquired outside of any State of the U.S., the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, a Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, or any territory or possession of the U.S.) must be evaluated by a credential evaluation service in order to be given credit towards qualification. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and U.S. Department of Education provide guidelines on how the U.S. Government evaluates an applicant’s foreign education. Family members will find this information on OPM’s website   (see Foreign Education section) and on the U.S. Department of Education, International Affairs Office’s website   .

Applicants can request an evaluation from a member organization of one of the two national associations of credential evaluation services:

  • National Association of Credential Evaluation Services    (NACES) is an association of 19 credential evaluation services with admission standards and an enforced code of good practice.
  • Association of International Credentials Evaluators    (AICE) is an association of 10 credential evaluation services with a board of advisors and an enforced code of ethics.

Credential evaluations are not free, and applicants are responsible for the cost of the selected service. The cost and the time-frame to perform the service will vary according to the complexity of the case and the amount of documentation provided. The entire credentialing process may take weeks to months. Prior to submitting any documents to a credential evaluation service, applicants may also need to obtain English translations of any non-English documents. They should inquire with the selected member organization, which may offer translation services or may provide guidance on how to proceed. Applicants should also be aware that the length of validity of the requested report may vary from one member organization to another.

Applicants to federal positions then submit copies of their foreign education credential evaluations in lieu of transcripts in their application package.

Have you heard about the Master Sommelier Diploma exam? This exam is tougher than UPSC, JEE, and NEET. After passing this, candidates can earn in crores. This exam stands out for its exceptional difficulty and unique reward. It is demanding and is considered as one of the toughest exams in the world. The first Master Sommelier exam was held in 1969. It was organised by the Court of Master Sommeliers (CMSS) formed by the wine industry. In the last five decades, only 269 people in the whole world were able to crack this exam. The purpose behind forming such an institution and conducting the Master Sommelier exam was to create such pairings for wine lovers that can enhance their delight. Those who pass this exam should also be trained as to what food items should be served with wine so that the intoxication increases but there is no harm to health.

Any person who has an experience in the hotel industry can participate. Candidates are asked basic questions ranging from apple and grape varieties to the process of making wine. Apart from this, there are also questions about pairing of wine and food. Only 8% of people are able to pass the introductory level of this exam.

Another practical exam is also conducted apart from the written exam. During the practical exam, candidates are given the task of blind testing the wine, where they have to tell what fruit is added. They also have to guess where this wine is from and how old it is.

It is necessary to pass the three stages, introductory, certified and advanced level to appear for the exam. All the three steps should be passed within three years and if the person concerned fails to pass in this period, then he will have to appear for the introductory level exam again.

There is one more thing that makes this exam special, that is, no candidate can give the last level paper on his own. For this, recommendation of well-known people of the wine industry is also required.

This rare and desired exam is a testament to a sommelier’s unparalleled expertise and dedication towards the art of wine.

The Contra Costa County Office of Education is a unique agency. One of 58 counties in the state of California, Contra Costa County has the 11th largest public school student population in the state. Officially established in 1932, the CCCOE has a long history of providing direct services to some of our county's most vulnerable students, including young people who are incarcerated, homeless or in foster care, as well as students who have severe physical or emotional challenges. CCCOE also provides support services to schools and school districts in Contra Costa County; services that can be handled most effectively and economically on a regional basis rather than by each of the county's 261 schools or 18 school districts. These services range from budget approval and fiscal support, to technology infrastructure and communication support. In addition, CCCOE provides some of the best, high level professional development opportunities for educators in the entire state. The County Office of Education is an essential part of Contra Costa's outstanding public school system. Overall, our county's students rank high on virtually every measure of achievement – from test scores to college entrance rates.
