"Rama Banam" marks the third collaboration between Gopichand and director Sriwass. They're hoping for a hat-trick after the success of their previous two films.

The film didn't generate much hype before its release, but the hit combination sparked some interest.

Story: Vicky (Gopichand) works for a don in Kolkata and earns a lot of money. He is originally from Ramabhadrapuram in Andhra Pradesh, and in his teens he fled to Kolkata from his family due to ideological differences with his elder brother Ramaraju (Rajaram). Vicky is being threatened by another don named Mukherjee.

Meanwhile, Vicky's girlfriend Bhairavi's (Dimple Hayathi) father agrees to give him her hand only if he brings his family. Thus, Vicky returns to Hyderabad, where his brother established a large restaurant chain and also served as chairperson of the Food Commission.

Vicky's return delighted Ramaraju and his wife (Kushubu). Vicky soon discovers that his brother is having problems with a businessman named GK (Tarun Arora), who runs a fraudulent food business.

The rest of the story revolves around Vicky's efforts to save his brother.

Artistes’ Performances: These kinds of roles come as naturally to Gopichand as sipping a cup of coffee. All he has to do is fight, dance with the heroine, and act out a few sentimental scenes. He does them well.

Dimple Hayathi is cast in yet another thankless role. Jagapathi Babu plays a typical idealistic "peddayana" as seen in a slew of films.

Khushbu looks okay as the hero's vadina and gets to dress in designer cotton sarees. Both of the antagonists are toothless. Vennela Kishore's gay comedy is standard fare.

Technical Excellence: The richness of this film is striking. The producers must have spent a bomb to achieve the rich look. Only the cinematographer appears to have made an effort among the technicians.

None of the other technicians have produced anything noteworthy. Music (Mickey J Meyer) and writing are both clichéd.

Analysis Audiences have begun to reject standard mass films that follow a template. While Telugu audiences occasionally enjoy formulaic dramas like "Waltair Veerayya" and "Veera Simha Reddy," they have grown tired of them overall.

Unfortunately, directors such as Sriwass, who are known for presenting mass dramas, have yet to recognize the current trend and adapt their ideas to the audiences' current tastes. "Rama Banam" exemplifies this.

Bhupathi Raja, known for his formulaic scripts, likely wrote this story 20 years ago. Director Sriwass penned the screenplay, which includes scenes from hundreds of popular films.

"Rama Banam" begins in Kolkata, returns to Hyderabad, moves to a small village, and then returns to Hyderabad again. In between, we see the hero romancing, fighting, and saving his family without them realizing it, among other things. He also transfers Rs 50 crore to his niece's father-in-law in less than a minute. If we were to list out each scene and fight in the film, we could give many examples from previous blockbusters. "Rama Banam" is a mash-up of old masala movies.

While Director Sriwass is usually good at comedy, the scenes involving Sathya, Ali, Vennela Kishore, and Getup Srinu this time don't add much. They don't make you laugh out loud.

The film becomes slightly better after the first half, but it turns clichéd again in the final act.

Overall, "Rama Banam" suffers from a formulaic plot and an obsolete setup. Despite its attempts to appeal to a mass audience, it provides little to its intended crowd. It turns out to be more of the same masala fare.

Gopichand joined hands with director Sriwass with who he worked earlier on two films. This time the duo is coming with Rama Baanam. Going by trailer, Rama Baanam seems to be having all the ingredients of a commercial movie, including the successful combination of Gopichand and Jagapathi Babu. The movie was released today in theaters and let us see if the Rama Baanam hits the aimed target.

What Is It About?

Rajaram (Jagapathi Babu) is a righteous man who is determined to provide organic food to all. His younger brother Vicky (Gopichand) is an aggressive guy who runs away from his family to prove himself as a successful man. Vicky becomes a don in Kolkata and he falls in love with Bhairavi (Dimple Hayathi). Vicky reunites with his family after many years and learns that his brother is in big problems due to one GK (Tarun Arora) and Paparao (Nasser). How he solves the problems and what he does to regain his brother’s love is all about Rama Baanam.

Performances

Gopichand puts his efforts and dedication into any role he plays. His role in Rama Baanam is not an exception, but the story falters big with a tired and stereotyped setup. Jagapathi Babu is usual. Jagapathi Babu and Gopichand looked like real brothers when they last appeared together, but in Rama Baanam their roles in Rama Baanam show artificial bonding. Dimple Hayathi is just a glam doll in the movie and she did not even have many dialogues. Khushboo played the most boring role as the hero’s mother-like vadina. The villain Tarun Arora’s role is monotonous and stale. Even his warnings, gestures, and voice appear like we can guess what he is going to utter. The comedy track is disastrous with Vennela Kishore, Ali, Satya, and Getup Srinu.

Technicalities

The story and narration of Rama Baanam are the culprits to start with. The only relief about the movie is the crisp run time of little more than two hours. A vintage story in a trivial setup is all Rama Baanam has. A few songs pictured in scenic locales are good to watch. The narrative lacks the proper connection between the characters and the emotional depth between them is completely artificial. It is more like a scene after scene. Background music is not worth mentioning.

Everything Else

The protagonist runs away from his principled brother to prove himself and grows up as one of the biggest gangsters in Kolkata. He comes back to his family only to find his brother is in some serious trouble. Needless to say, he will solve each and every problem with his power and money. This is the story of Rama Baanam in a nutshell and is just another addition to one of the most-watched template stories that came in the last many years. Gopichand’s Rama Baanam is one stark example of the routine stories.

The first half takes off with the character establishment and then falls into the routine narrative with elevations followed by some fights. The same old boring love track of a gangster and a vlogger comes in, which at least is set up in a song is a sigh of relief. The comedy track of Ali is stale and Vennela Kishore’s part is the most irritating. This overused comedy pattern is long gone.

Rama Baanam does not deviate from the arrangement of five songs, six fights, motherly love of sister-in-law, a Hindi villain whose interest lies only in the mafia, and many such familiar characters doing their part. The second half also continues as per the structure with the protagonist kicking the goons and warning the baddies like always. Like these universal stories have a thread that the villain usually wants and the hero or his brother opposes, Rama Baanam has the food adulteration concept. There are many illogical and superficial scenes coming and going throughout the movie.

Rama Baanam has a jathara fight, a few foreign location songs, a warehouse fight, saving the poisoned children, saving the land of poor people, and a court hall lecture. These are just a few mentioned from the monotonous list of sequences in the movie and it is high time that our directors shed this so-called commercial template.

Overall, Rama Baanam has nothing new or interesting to offer. It has a very ordinary story setup with the padding of songs and fights that too won’t become a reason to watch this movie.

Bottomline: A Broken Arrow

‘Ramabanam’ movie review: Gopichand’s masala entertainer miserably fails to build on an intriguing story

Director sriwass’ film fails in its attempt to ‘package’ a commercial entertainer, only to squander any potential its intriguing plotline had; to make matters worse, it also has queerphobic jokes.

Yet another Friday and we have yet another film, leaving you craving for a good old masala entertainer that gets the formula right. In the case of director Sriwass’s Ramabanam , the most plaguing issue is in how poorly it packages the many elements — comedy, romance, action, punchlines, and a hero with inhuman abilities. It seems as if these were just items on a checklist rather than anything else and it’s even more disappointing because there’s a good story at the centre of it all. It’s about two brothers, Rajaram (the Telugu cinema staple Jagapathi Babu) and Vignesh (Gopichand), who operate on two extreme moral ends; they are both do-gooders but it’s the classic means-to-the-end moral dilemma that separates the two. Rajaram, a hotelier, walks in a straight line and believes in the justice system, but Vicky fights fire with fire (he’s the ‘Ramabanam’, the arrow that flew out of Lord Rama’s bow).

Writer Bhupati Raja’s screenplay sets up the dramatic story of these brothers quite well. We open to a flashback that shows how a teenage Vicky, after burning down Rajaram’s arch-rival Paparao’s (Nasser) godown, runs away to Kolkata, vowing to come back only after making his brother proud. There, Vicky grows to become rich and influential thanks to the rags-to-rich scheme that Indian cinema loves to propose, the underworld of crime.

Ramabanam (Telugu)

Vicky has his own problems in Kolkata, but for the story of Ramabanam to move forward, he needs to come back to Hyderabad and reunite with Rajaram and his family, and this is where things go awry for both him and the audience. Through a passable song with some shuddersome visuals, Vicky falls in love with a woman named Bhairavi (Dimple Hayathi). The song begins with Vicky, this stranger of a man, pursuing this woman, taking a sip out of her coffee without notice and whatnot, and ends with her ‘reminiscing’ these wonderful moments only to fall in love. Firstly, who is she? What does she do? Why does she like Vicky? Is she really that ignorant to fall for someone so infamous for his crimes? It seems like this is the wrong film to ask these questions. All you must know is that Bhairavi’s dad thinks that orphans, even if rich, don’t deserve to marry his daughter and when informed of Vicky’s family back home, asks him to return with his family.

This really is a buzzkill; for over 14 years, Vicky misses his family terribly but the reason for his homecoming is a hurried love track that also gets sidelined for the rest of the movie, only for occasional speed-breakers in the form of duet songs in foreign locations. The reunion scene isn’t really that effective and we never see these characters talk to each other about the lives they’ve led away from each other, something you’d expect from normal social beings. The story picks up when Paparao and his son-in-law GK come into the picture, and we see what Rajaram, who is now the Chairman of the Food Safety and Standards Authority, is up against. Vicky, without revealing his gangster identity to his family, needs to fight his new enemies.

Ramabanam , at least for its major portions, doesn’t suffer when it stays on the lane of its central plot about the two brothers, their war against their enemies, and the family drama; a few portions show hints of the good old commercial masala magic working. It’s only when it goes beyond does it fail abysmally. For everything organic in the script, something extra is added. For instance, there’s a well-choreographed action scene in which Vicky is likened to Lord Narasimha (classic!), but we also get an unnecessary flashback fight in Kolkata where he’s shown as Kali with ‘Aigiri Nandini’ playing in the background. Speaking of action sequences, a scene set in Rajaram’s house, where Vicky has to fight off a group of home invaders without making much noise, had potential to become a major highlight, but it unfortunately doesn’t.

Comedy, despite featuring a boast of good comedians, is another matter of dread. Ramabanam is yet another queerphobic film that bats for heteronormativity and antagonises queers. Vennela Kishore appears as a feminine music teacher and the writing portrays them as a touchy creep that everyone needs to stay away from. At one point, comedian Ali tells this to another character: “Be careful around him because he’s an emasculate person and he doesn’t have male reproductive organs.” All of these exist on the pretext of “comedy.”

Towards the end, Ramabanam becomes quite messy. Even the central plot involving Rajaram and Vicky’s fight against Paparao and GK ends up with a whimper after some very predictable turn of events. The villains of this tale make the experience even more tedious with their template dialogues and reactions. Even the drama between the two brothers takes the routine route; the whole moral dilemma that divided the two goes nowhere novel.

In the end, it irks when one imagines how good of a masala entertainer Ramabanam had the potential to become. Somewhere, you start buying into its many promises and you begin to look beyond all the artificiality, in hopes of something refreshing, something appealing to the fans of masala cinema, and Ramabanam never delivers it.

రామ‌బాణం పేరుకు త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగానే 1990 ద‌శ‌కం నాటి ఛాయ‌ల‌తో సాగే ఫ‌క్తు క‌మ‌ర్షియ‌ల్ ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంట‌ర్‌టైన‌ర్ మూవీ. తాను పెద్ద డాన్ అనే విష‌యాన్ని దాచిపెడుతూ త‌న కుటుంబానికి ఎదుర‌య్యే స‌మ‌స్య‌ల‌ను హీరో ప‌రిష్క‌రించ‌డం అనే పాయింట్‌తో తెలుగు తెర‌పై ఎన్నో సినిమాలొచ్చాయి.

ఈ సినిమా క‌థేమిటి, క్లైమాక్స్ ఎలా ఉండ‌బోతుంద‌న్న‌ది సినిమా ప్రారంభ‌మైన కొద్ది సేప‌టికే అర్థ‌మ‌వుతోంది. ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు శ్రీవాస్ కూడా ట్విస్ట్‌ల‌తో ఆడియెన్స్‌ను థ్రిల్ చేయ‌డం కంటే ఫ్యామిలీ ఎమోష‌న్స్‌, యాక్ష‌న్ సీక్వెన్స్‌ల‌తో వారిని థియేట‌ర్‌లో కూర్చొబెట్ట‌డానికే ప్ర‌య‌త్నించాడు. ఫ్యామిలీ ఎమోష‌న్స్‌లో కొన్ని సీన్స్ బాగా వ‌ర్క‌వుట్ అయ్యాయి. జ‌గ‌ప‌తిబాబు, ఖుష్బూ, నాజ‌ర్‌, స‌చిన్ ఖేడ్క‌ర్ వంటి సీనియ‌ర్ న‌టీన‌టులు కీల‌క పాత్ర‌ల్లో న‌టించ‌డం కూడాసినిమాకు ఉప‌యోగ‌ప‌డింది.

యాక్ష‌న్ సీక్వెన్స్...

కుటుంబానికి దూరంగా హీరో పారిపోవ‌డంతో కోల్‌క‌తాలో డాన్‌గా ఎద‌గ‌డం, హీరోయిన్ ప్రేమ‌క‌థ‌, మాఫియా డాన్‌ల ఎత్తులు పై ఎత్తుల‌తో ఫ‌స్ట్‌హాఫ్ స‌ర‌దాగా సాగిపోతుంది. సెకండాఫ్ ను మాత్రం కంప్లీట్‌గా ఫ్యామిలీ ఎమోష‌న్స్ చుట్టూ న‌డిపించారు. ఆప‌ద‌లో ఉన్న త‌న అన్న‌య్య‌తో పాటు కుటుంబాన్ని విక్కీ ఎలా సేవ్ చేశాడ‌న్న‌ది చూపించారు.

మాఫియా డాన్‌గా...

విక్కీ అనే మాఫియా డాన్‌గా, నీతినిజాయితీల‌తో ప‌నిచేసే రాజారాం త‌మ్ముడిగా డ్యూయ‌ల్ షేడ్ క్యారెక్ట‌ర్‌లో గోపీచంద్ న‌ట‌న బాగుంది. అత‌డి అభిమానుల‌ను అల‌రించేలా శ్రీవాస్ హీరో క్యారెక్ట‌ర్‌ను డిజైన్ చేశారు. పాజిటివ్ రోల్‌తో జ‌గ‌ప‌తిబాబు, అత‌డి భార్య గా ఖుష్భూ క్యారెక్ట‌ర్స్ ఈ సినిమాకు ప్ర‌ధాన బ‌లంగా నిలిచాయి. వారి క్యారెక్ట‌ర్స్ నేప‌థ్యంలో వ‌చ్చేఎమోష‌న‌ల్ సీన్స్ ఫ్యామిలీ ఆడియెన్స్‌కు క‌నెక్ట్ అవుతాయి. డింపుల్ హ‌య‌తి కేవ‌లం పాటలు, హీరో తో ల‌వ్ ట్రాక్ కోస‌మే ఈ సినిమాలోకి తీసుకున్న ఫీలింగ్ క‌లుగుతుంది.

రామ‌బాణం మాస్ ఆడియెన్స్‌ను దృష్టిలో పెట్టుకొని తెర‌కెక్కించిన ఔట్‌డేటెడ్ క‌మ‌ర్షియ‌ల్ మూవీ. గోపీచంద్ అభిమానుల‌ను ఈ సినిమా కొంత వ‌ర‌కు మెప్పించే ఛాన్స్ ఉంది. క‌థ‌, క‌థ‌నాల విష‌యంలో కొత్త‌ద‌నాన్ని ఆశించి చూడాల‌ని అనుకుంటే మాత్రం నిరాశ త‌ప్ప‌దు.

Ramabanam Movie Review:   Gopichand and Dimple Hayathi starrer Ramabanam, helmed by Sriwass has hit the theaters today on 5 th  May. Let’s see the story of Ramabanam.

Story:  Rajaram (Jagapathi Babu) and his wife Bhuvaneshwari (Khushboo) run an organic hotel in a village called Raghudeva Puram. His younger brother is Vicky (Gopichand). As a child, Vicky runs away from the village after quarreling with his elder brother and he grows up as a don in Kolkata. There he falls in love with Bhairavi (Dimple Hayati). But her father (Sachin Khedkar) puts a condition that he will marry Bhairavi only if there is a family.  Vicky comes back to his home and finds out that his brother has a threat from GK (Tarun Arora). What’s the rift between GK and Rajaram? What did Vicky do next?  To get these answers, one should watch the movie Ramabanam on silver screen.

 Performance:  Gopichand is not new to doing such roles. His looks are impressive and he delivers a fine performance. The performance of heroine Bhairavi (Dimple Hayati) in the movie is also impressive. Also the chemistry with Gopichand is also good. Gopichand’s action scenes and fights are good. Along with the interval block, it can be said that the climax is a good attraction of the movie. Jagapathi Babu does a great job in the role of fighting against chemical farming and talking about the benefits of organic food. Khushboo is fine. Vennela Kishore, Ali, Saptagiri, Satya and Getup Srinu impress with their performances. Nazar and Tarun Arora play villain roles. All the other actors act according to the scope of the roles.

 Technical:  Coming to the technical performance, director Sriwass tried to combine action and comedy in the right proportion in the film. But it is a plus that the film has commercial elements to appeal to all sections of the audience. Mickey J Mayer BGM elevates the action scenes well. People Media Factory’s production values are good. Vetri’ cinematography is good and the visuals  are liked by all. The fact that Bhupathi Raja’s story is a bit old is a bit of a minus for the film. Production values are good. Cat and mouse game between hero and villain is not interesting at all.

 Analysis:  Gopichand’ sincere performance, message, some family emotions are good in the movie but outdated content, predictable scenes and lack of gripping screenplay are the minus points of this film. The brotherly bond between Jagapathi Babu and Gopichand was shown very well in the movie.  It is good to explain how clean food is useful in the current situation and its importance. It is also good to say that no matter how much you earn, family is very important.

Ramabanam Review – Ancient Banam

Vicky ( Gopichand ) runs away from his home, challenging his brother that he would become rich. He reaches Kolkata and becomes a big don. However, love for Bhairavi changes his life as he has to return to his brother Rajaram (Jagapathi Babu).

What happens when Vicky returns to his brother’s family? The movie’s story is about the troubles and how he overcomes them.

Performances

Ramabanam is a bread-and-butter kind of role for Gopichand. He has done many such parts in the past and also goes about the process clinically here. The actor gets to do action, comedy, romance and drama, and he is all right in them. However, at the end of the day, it is just another part for him that is far from memorable.

Dimple Hayathi plays a typical commercial heroine role mainly used for glamour. She looks fine in the songs, but there is hardly anything that registers her as a performer.

Sriwass directs Ramabanam. His last outing was Sakshyam which came way back in 2018. For Ramabanam , the director picks a routine mass family entertainer on his return. 

Anyone who has seen Ramabanam’s trailer knows what they are getting into. Sriwass delivers what he promised, which is evident from the first frame. 

Right from the start, Ramabanam carries an outdated vibe. The establishment of the movie’s world, the characters, and everything screams and reminds us of commercial films that ruled the roost more than a decade ago. Sriwass himself has made his career out of such flicks. But the formula doesn’t work here. 

The lack of updation in presenting the familiar story is the first and foremost issue with Ramabanam. Many outdated mass stories are made even now, but an attempt is there to freshen up the presentation. Be it comedy or the setting, or the mass confrontations, some change is brought for those routine mass fares. We do not see that here with Ramabanam, even though there is a backdrop that provides the scope. 

Ramabanam just goes through the proceedings ticking all the formulaic boxes. The grand introduction, the flimsy love story, a huge family drama setup and the villains for the action are all present and do the required diligently. But, the emotions are never felt. 

Sriwass has attempted similar mass fare in the past and got them mostly right. It was long ago, and it seems that the director is also struck there in his approach. 

The second half provides the opportunity to freshen up the proceedings with the whole food-related track. But, the screenplay again veers into the outdated terrain. It all leads to a heavy climax where a message is delivered at the end. The ‘message’ is good and timely, which makes one wonder what would have been if the movie had been made more contemporarily. 

Overall, Ramabanam has a relevant message at the end but offers nothing new content-wise as well as presentation-wise. It is a routine mass fare that is as routine as it comes making it hard for even die-hard mass movie lovers to sit through.

Jagapathi Babu and Kushboo are the leading, supporting roles in the movie besides Gopichand. The former gets a good-hearted but melodramatic elder brother role. He does it with sincerity even though, at times, it looks like going a bit overboard. Kushboo is fine as the motherly figure with the right emotions on display.

Many comedians like Ali, Vennela Kishore, Sathya, and Get Up Seenu are part of the narrative. They do their bits from time to time but really stand out. Nasser, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Sachin Khedekar etc., are wasted in routine and inconsequential roles.

If there was a movie where a music director looked like a complete misfit, it must be Ramabanam, with Mickey J Mayer providing the music. He has done a few mass fares in the past, but they always looked like he was trying hard. Here he doesn’t do even that. Ramabanam is one of the easily forgotten albums coming from the musician.

Vetri Palanisamy’s visuals, too, bear a strong outdated mark. The colour scheme has an air of artificiality around it. The editing is neat. Prawin Pudi gives the right cuts and keeps things moving forward, notwithstanding the utter predictability on offer. The production values could be better. The dialogues are run-of-the-mill.

Ramabanam’s second half is no different, making it an outdated fare from the start to the end. We have countless such films available on YouTube itself, that it is a surprise the movie got made in the first place.

Ramabanam’s first half is outdated commercial fare from the word go. The characters, characterisations, emotions, and screenplay nothing belongs to the current era. We have to see if it’s the same post-interval, as well.

Ramabanam Movie Review: A Well-Intentioned Entertainer Deterred By Cheesy Writing

Ramabanam is less of a film and more of a representative of a genre that's very specific to Indian cinema and one that we have enjoyed for years and continue to do, although the quantity and quality of such films have diminished significantly in the recent past. It's a "full meals entertainer", a term widely used to describe films meant to entertain audiences of all ages and sections, like the kind of films Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh were synonymous with in the '90s and for the most part of the 2000s. Bhupati Raja, who penned the story of this film, has so many films to his credit in the genre. If I have to borrow words from Trivikram , this genre always has some charm and is never boring, "like Amma, Avakai and Anjali." It's difficult to box these films into a single genre; they are packed with action, family drama, romance, revenge, comedy... you name it and you have it. In that sense, Ramabanam truly encapsulates the spirit of a full meals entertainer from the 2000s, and the fact that the film deals with restaurants and advocates for quality food corroborates my claim. The problem with it, much like the villain who adulterates his food products with chemicals, is that the writing is contaminated by corny dialogue and ideas that do not represent the finest of our cinema from the past.

Ramabanam features a familiar but delicious setup. Vicky is aggressive, the polar opposite of his brother Rajaram, played by Jagapathi Babu , a man of principles. When their ideologies clash, Vicky runs away from home as a teenager, reaches Kolkata, and runs into KGF's Shetty Bhai who adopts him immediately after listening to him speak about the difference between earning food with hard work and begging for food. The boy is groomed by the gangster as his son — "beta mil gaya (Found a son)," he screams in joy, the immediacy is laughable and shocking — and grows up to become Gopichand and develops the superpower to take down hordes of men without a single fold on his well-ironed shirt. Jagapathi Babu remains Jagapathi Babu.

What connects the estranged brothers after years is a futile love story —featuring Bhairavi (Dimple Hayathi) — which the film has no interest to explore. This entire romantic arc is established with a song in which Vicky follows and disturbs her. She merely exists, never reacting to any of his actions. By the end of the song, she recalls Vicky's antics, smiles, and falls for him, making Veera Simha Reddy 's romantic arc look like Casablanca . When Bhairavi's family disputes their marriage, citing he has no family, Vicky is compelled to make amends with his past and reconnect with his estranged brother and family. While doing so, he has to keep his violent life and its possible repercussions concealed from his noble brother, who is fighting a battle of his own. See, it's a great premise for a masala entertainer but the writing is rudimentary and never rises above the bare minimum.

For instance, when the estranged brother returns home after years, we expect a heart-warming scene but there isn't a single effective moment that communicates the family's longing, pain, and eventual relief. These scenes are written and staged with no novelty. We have to wait till the end of the film to get a solid moment featuring the brothers. When that happens in a scene where Vicky confronts Rajaram about the inefficacy of his principles in a polluted, oppressive world, it ends up being the best scene in the film. Ramabanam needed so many such dramatic moments that go beyond the artificiality of the characters and drama. At one point, a character jokingly compliments that Rajaram's house looks as good as a shooting location. That's because it is indeed a shooting location and it looks exactly like one; the staging of scenes, by populating the frame with actors who barely utter a dialogue renders many sequences painfully artificial.

The biggest problem with the film is that it looks and sounds exactly like a film. The characters operate at such a level of cringe-worthy theatricality that our consciousness is constantly reminded that we are watching a loud film, refraining us from immersing in the proceedings.

The dialogues and the villain (Tarun Raj Arora as the blazer-donning, evil businessman he has played a million times), after a point, make you wonder if we are witnessing a parody of action entertainers from the past. "Vaadu Tammudu la ledu, terminator la unnadu," the villain says, staring at the massive LED screen that's live-streaming the 'interval bang' action sequence. It makes no sense logically and this idea is unintentionally hilarious.

Speaking of dialogues, the film is crammed with countless gems. For instance, take, "Nuvvu entha yaagam chesina nee yogam maaradhu (your prayers won't change your fate; well, the translation kills the joy)". My favourite dialogue from the film has to be the one that comes right after Gopichand finishes delivering an intense monologue about the need for organic food in a court. The defence lawyer curtly responds, "Ilanti speeches ki janam maarau (People won't change by listening to these speeches)." He is right.

Also, it's extremely disheartening to see a popular film aimed at the masses in 2023 trying to evoke homophobic humour using an effeminate character. It's a black mark in an otherwise well-intentioned film. What's more disappointing is seeing a charming comic like Vennela Kishore being relegated to being the subject of such crude humour. There's another disturbing instance. At a point, the wedding of Rajaram's daughter is called off by the groom's father because he's in dire need of ₹50 crore, which the villain facilitates, on the condition that he gets his son married to the daughter of a wealthy politician. When our hero pays him the money, the man immediately agrees to cancel the wedding and agrees to get his son married to Rajaram's daughter. The whole marriage scenario plays out like a business proposition but this is never problematised. I guess some things should be left in the past.

Despite all the problems, the ever-dependable Jagapathi Babu who lends a certain level of majesty to his character, ensures that there's some fun to be had. His transformation, in the end, is perhaps the film's best moment. But I can only think about the potential this film was loaded with and how it could have been a wholesome entertainer in every sense if only the writing was less cheesy and derivative.

‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’, a phrase traditionally used for American brides can be strangely but suitably applied to Gopichand’s latest feature, Rama Banam . There is a lot in Rama Banam that is reminiscent of the 2000s “family audience” cinema, the viluvale maa aasthi -subgenre a younger demographic, including yours truly, love to ridicule. The film also tries to infuse new elements in the film, though I have a hard time believing the presence of a GoPro-toting vlogger (Dimple Hayathi) can succeed at facelifting a story so comfortable in its geriatric virtue signaling. Rama Banam, complete with blue comedy tracks where slap scenes and gay jokes incite half-hearted chuckles, leaves its viewers with two strong emotions. One, is of irony and incessant eye-rolls at how some things in Telugu cinema never really change. The other, of satisfaction and comfort, the result of a safe bet on paper living up to its reputation of being safe and of being a good bet.

Rama Banam plays with dualities convexing and concaving throughout its runtime. At the heart of its story is the relationship between brothers Rajaram (Jagapathi Babu) and Vicky (Gopichand), personifications of prakruthi and pralayam , respectively. Vicky runs away from his family to Kolkata, only to return after fourteen years, all rich (check) and criminal (double check). The quirky sight of folks eating dhoklas in Kolkata and Rosogollas in Hyderabad is quickly offset by the film’s amusingly inconsistent accents. The Bengalis in the film talk like North Indians, while the North Indians in the film talk like Dakhni people. Each brother has a secret set of enemies, who bay for the blood of these brothers separately till they learn that they can unite, become each other’s friends, and take down these blood brothers. There is a smaller, more intimate theme in Rama Banam with large-scale implications (righteousness, family above all) competing for your attention alongside a large-scale issue (food adulteration, malpractices et al) making its presence felt through some small but sustained metaphors. Microeconomics and Macroeconomics…if I may say so. 

While some aspects in the film clearly work against its favour, be it the three unmemorable romantic numbers shot in vaguely international locations or its unconvincing, miscast antagonists, Rama Banam also falters heavily due to its largely counterproductive approach of elevating its hero without enough conflict or consequences. For instance, when Vicky returns to his family after 14 years, it is not because he misses them, it is because his girlfriend’s family did not want her to get married to an orphan. His brother and sister-in-law find out and instead of feeling betrayed, they go on to heap praises on the girl for reuniting the family. The action sequences in the film are more slippery than slick, be it with goons falling down to coordinated music or with guns just rolling backwards into Gopichand’s hands, Tenet-style. While I understand it is crucial to elevate the hero at any chance you get, the elevations need to possess an element of delayed gratification in its treatment, lest you risk taking your audience for granted. The treatment of the film is functional at best, with us wishing the film took the extra mile by boomeranging hard off its core mass material. Bobby Kolli’s Waltair Veerayya, for one, is a great example of the same.

The cinematography of Rama Banam, by Vetri Palanisamy, is noteworthy for a host of reasons. It is not surprising that he is also the cinematographer of Viswasam and Annaatthe , considering he paints the frames of Rama Banam with the same bright, festive colours, in sync with the film’s spirit. There is a scene in the first half of Rama Banam , where the hero’s two sidekicks in a comedy sequence are confused about who the director and the cameraman amongst them is (they are shooting a YouTube video). One can’t help but wonder sometimes, if Vetri took the director’s chair in Rama Banam , considering his innumerable rack focus shots and drone shots take over the story with wild abandon. There is also some uncharacteristic found footage work in this film. All of this creates for a jarring yet fun experience. It might be a long time before we see yet another masala film adopt such a distinct, laissez-faire approach with its cinematography, truth be told.

Rama Banam really shines when the conflict between Rajaram and Vicky is cracked wide open. It not only adds some necessary tension to the film’s proceedings but also ties the rest of the film together neatly. Rama Banam puts two paths of righteousness, one of peace and the other of violence, at odds with each other. The film answers its question quickly too, reinforcing the position that it is better to be a warrior in a garden rather than a gardener in a war. While the Rama stands for righteousness, the Banam represents the film’s preferred mode of righteousness. Jagapathi Babu shines as Rajaram, adding yet another role to keep the Prakash Raj-ification of his career going, one character role at a time. Khushbu is yet another solid addition to the film’s supporting cast. So is Ali, as this film’s voice of reason and audience surrogate. 

In an age when people are often quick to remark whether a film is a theatre watch or an OTT one, I have two words for Rama Banam. Goldmines watch.

Rama Banam Movie: What's Behind

Gopichand and Sriwass are known for their super-hit films Lakshyam and Loukyam. Movie lovers are getting interested as they are coming together to entertain movie lovers with their latest film Rama Banam. The film's OTT rights have been bagged by and streaming will be after the end of its theatrical run. The presence of Dimple Hayathi is appealing to the masses. The film is releasing on 5 May 2023 and let us gauge whether Rama Banam hit the success target or not.

Rama Banam's story highlights the importance of family, its values, love and emotions, the bonding of the family, and the affection associated with it.  After running away from his village Raghudevapuram, Vicky (Gopichand) becomes an influential person in Kolkata. He falls for beautiful-looking Bhairavi (Dimple Hayathi) but her father (Sachin Khedekar) comes up with one condition.

Following that he heads to Hyderabad to meet his family members comprising his brother Raja Ram (Jagapathi Babu), Food Commission Chairman, Telangana and who promotes organic farms through is Swagruha restaurant and sister-in-law Bhuvaneswari (Khushboo) and others.

Vikram as the days progress, comes out to know that he and his brother Raja Ram are fighting common enemies. What Vicky did in Kolkota, why Raja Ram made enemies, what is their connection to Papa Rao (Nassar), GK (Tarun Arora) and others form the rest of the story.

Rama Banam Movie: Artists Review

Gopichand played the role with ease. It is in fact a cakewalk for him as he did similar roles umpteen a number of times in his career. Gopichand looked stylish and macho on the screen and did high-octane action sequences. However, age started showing on his face and one gets the impression that he looks pale and suffers from health problems. Despite all this, he did the role with full verve and energy.

Dimple Hayathi showcased her red-hot looks, and flaunted her curves and glamor in the songs. Her role is just confined to just a glamor doll appearing in the songs. It is just inconsequential, to be frank. Jagapathi Babu played the role of the elder brother quite well showing good emotions. But at times he overacted. Otherwise, he is fine in his performance. Khushboo showed the right kind of expressions and emotions.

Ali, Vennela Kishore, Sathya and Get Up Seenu tried to tickle the bones with their stale comedy but they ended up irritating the viewers. Nasser played the typical role of a cunning fellow while Sachin Khedekar, and Kasi Vishwanath got limited roles. Tarun Arora played the role of a typical villain but his role is not elevated properly to create fear.

Rama Banam Movie: Technicians Review

Rama Banam's story is outdated to the core. Even in the 80s, viewers would have found it difficult to sit through and watch the entire film in theatres. Sriwass starts the narration in a predictable way and from then on even a newborn could predict the next scene. This makes people wonder why Sriwass did this project and how Gopichand accepted it in the first instance.

The entire cast and crew seem to have got stuck up in the past and they are yet to press the reset button and update the apps. Nothing excites or entertains movie lovers and after silly romantic scenes and comedy scenes along with the action sequences, the first half ends. If viewers expect anything new in the second half, they are demanding something impossible. The second half treads in the same manner and finally brothers unite to fight the common enemy to save the family and the society.

Sriwass failed with his screenplay and direction. Though the makers promoted the film as a complete family entertainer and censor board members congratulated them for the clean film, there are few obscene dialogues and all the so-called family emotions failed to connect chords with the movie lovers.

Mickey J Meyer's music is not attractive. A couple of songs are foot tapping and others acted as speed breakers. He failed to give mass beats for the film. His background music is ok but at times turned loud. Vetri Palanisamy's cinematography just passed through the motions. One does not feel the lavishness associated with Gopichand's projects. Prawin Pudi tried hard to make the film watchable with his editing but he was trying to save the sinking ship. Dialogues of Madhusudan Padamati are outdated, routine, and pretty ordinary. The production values of People Media Factory are average and could have been better.

Altogether, Rama Banam is a routine commercial entertainer. Gopichand and Sriwass banked on only mass elements, action sequences, and stale family emotions to set the box office on fire. However, both seem to have forgotten that movie lovers' tastes changed and they are mercilessly rejecting such routine commercial formula entertainers. No amount of reworking on the project would have saved the film. Only the star-studded cast is the appealing factor in the film. After watching Rama Banam, even school kids feel that they could come with better films.  Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2 Rating for Rama Banam .

Performances: Gopichand is dapper in songs and he is so fierce in action sequences. He is perfect in the given role.

Jagapathi Babu outshines Gopichand in the emotional scenes. Dimple Hayathi is glamorous on the screen and shw is good with her limited role . Though her scenes are very few in this film, she gives her best.

Get-up Srinu, Satya, Vennela Kishore and Ali helped the film big time with their well and perfect comedy timing. Khushboo is also fine in her role.

The emotional scenes, interval sequence, and a couple of songs are passable on the screen.

Technicalities: Director, Sriwass gives his best but he should have taken better care of the story.

An engaging story could have been written by Bhupathi Raja. Madhusudhan Padamati and Abburi Ravi worked together and wrote good dialogues that will please mass audiences for the core.

The cinematography by Vetri is fine. Mickey J Meyer’s music is fine. Editing work Fails to register as many scenes, especially in the second half, needed to be trimmed.

Production values are so lavish for this family entertainer and so is the case with the production design.

Analysis: Rama Banam starts off interesting but quickly follows a very routine path that we’ve seen in the previous decade. Few comedy scenes work but the rest is more irritating than funny and gives us feel of watching a completely outdated commercial entertainer that is predictable to the core.

To summerize, a few comedy scenes are ok and a few songs are decent but other than that nothing other are worth mentioning. Reminds us of films in the last decade. Hard to sit through the finally portions.

Verdict: Routine commercial drama!

Ramabanam review: Dear Gopichand, please get updated!

The routine treatment, formulaic presentation, and outdated approach make director Sriwass’ latest action entertainer monotonous.

Ramabanam marks the coming together of Gopichand and Jagapathi Babu under the direction of Sriwass. The trio earlier delivered a decent family entertainer titled Lakshyam (Target, 2007).

Let’s check how they fared this time:

Vicky (Gopichand) and Rajaram (Jagapathi Babu) are siblings. They are fond of each other but are different in temperament.

Rajaram grows organic vegetables and runs a hotel where he serves organic food to the customers. He is composed, patient and a do-gooder.

On the other hand, Vicky is emotional, violent and goes to any extent for his brother.

An unexpected incident makes Vicky run away from his home. He lands in Kolkata and grows up as a dreaded don. One day, he returns home but hides his original identity fearing that his elder brother would not accept him, given his criminal background.

While Vicky tries making efforts to hide his past and marry Bhairavi (Dimple Hayathi) with the blessings of his family, unexpected problems arise in the form of GK (Tarun Arora), a business competitor of Rajaram.

Whether Rajaram learns about his brother’s past and how Vicky saves his family from the crooked plots of GK form the crux of Ramabanam .

Good story but formulaic treatment

Ramabanam ’s basic plotline is meaningful. The director’s intention that both good food and happy families are needed for a better society is appreciable.

But the setting that Sriwass chose, the routine treatment, and the formulaic presentation make Ramabanam miss the target.

Barring some emotional scenes in the second half, most of the movie just runs as per the set formula. An action scene followed by a comedy episode and a family sentiment scene and then a repeat of the same – that’s how Ramabanam has been presented.

It’s time to get updated

Gopichand carved a niche for himself in the industry as an action hero. This is why he banks on “action” in all his film.

Besides action, Ramabanam has a good family drama. But the way the story is narrated and the characters are presented appears outdated.

There are too many films with such sentimental scenes and action sequences. In fact, Gopichand’s body language and performance in Ramabanam remind us of all his old flicks.

A fresh treatment and new-age characterisation would have made a lot of difference to Ramabanam . Hope Gopichand realises this and gets updated.

Coming to other actors, Jagapathi Babu is good in his elder brother’s role.

Kushboo is fine as Gopichand’s sister-in-law.

Dimple Hayathi has a limited role and is okay.

Vennela Kishore, Ali, Satya, and Saptagiri dish out decent comedy.

Barring a couple of songs, Mickey J Meyer’s music is average.

Editor Prawin Pudi should have trimmed the movie further.

Ramabanam is a typical Gopichand movie. It’s clean and sensible but routine and formulaic.

After delivering two hits – Lakshyam and Loukyam – Gopichand and Sriwass are back with Ramabanam. The film hit the screens today. Check out our review to see whether the duo scored a hat-trick or not.

Vicky (Gopichand) leaves for Kolkata after a conflict with his brother Rajaram (Jagapathi Babu) in childhood. He becomes a Bhai there and falls in love with Bhairavi (Dimple Hayathi). Vicky comes back to his home and finds out that his brother has a threat from GK (Tarun Arora). What’s the rift between GK and Rajaram? What did Vicky do next? The film has all the answers.

Plus Points:

Macho Star Gopichand as usual delivered a fine performance. He looks dapper in songs and he is so fierce in action sequences.

Jagapathi Babu gets a tailor-made character. He also gets so much screen space to perform. Coming to the emotional scenes, he outshines Gopichand.

Dimple Hayathi looks good. Though her scenes are very few in this film, she gives her best. Khushboo is also fine in her role.

The comedy scenes have worked out very well, especially in the first half. Get-up Srinu, Satya, Vennela Kishore and Ali helped the film big time with their perfect comedy timing. The emotional scenes, interval sequence, a few punch dialogues and a couple of songs are good to watch.

Minus Points:

The story falls in the first place in this aspect. It has nothing new but a neat screenplay made the film a watchable fare. Bhupathi Raja should have written an engaging story.

Some of the characters in the film have nothing to do with the film. For instance, there is no need for Kushita’s character.

Some of the scenes are so outdated that even a normal audience can utter the dialogue that comes into the scene. The director should have taken better care regarding this. Organic food and its importance should have been addressed in detail.

The villain played by Tarun Arora is not established well and thus the face-off scenes between him and Gopichand turned out boring. The writer should have written a few establishing scenes for the antagonist.

Technical Aspects:

As a director, Sriwass gives his best but he should have taken better care of the story. An engaging story could have been written by Bhupathi Raja. Madhusudhan Padamati and Abburi Ravi worked together and wrote good dialogues that will please mass audiences for sure.

The cinematography by Vetri is fine and so is Mickey J Meyer’s music. Many scenes, especially in the second half, needed to be chopped off. Production values are so rich, thanks to the producers.

On the whole, Ramabanam is a regular commercial potboiler that has no newness. Gopichand’s performance, a few comedy scenes in the first half and action sequences are the only plus points in the film. Ramabanam has an outdated story, so keep your expectations low before watching the movie this weekend.

పీపుల్స్ మీడియా ఫ్యాక్టరీ నుంచి వచ్చిన సినిమా అంటే కొన్ని అంచనాలుంటున్నాయి. కార్తికేయ2, ధమాక చిత్రాల తర్వాత వచ్చిన చిత్రం కనుక మరిన్ని ఆశలు కలగడం సహజం. గోపీచంద్ హీరోగా ఈ బ్యానర్ మీద ఈ సినిమా నేడు విడుదలయ్యింది. దర్శకుడు గతంలో ఐదారు కమెర్షియల్ సినిమాలు తీసిన శ్రీవాస్ కి గోపీచంద్ తో ఇది మూడవ సినిమా. ఆల్రెడీ "లక్ష్యం", "లౌక్యం" తీసారు. 

ఇంతకీ విషయంలోకి వెళితే రఘుదేవపురం అనే ఊరిలో ఆర్గానిక్ పంటల ద్వారా వచ్చే కాయగూరలు, ధాన్యాలతో మాత్రమే వండిపెట్టే హోటల్ నడుపుతూ ఉంటాడు ఒకాయన (జగపతిబాబు). అతనికొక టీనేజ్ తమ్ముడు (పెద్దయ్యాక గోపీచంద్). ఆ హోటల్ కి ఎదురుగా ఉండే మరొక హోటల్ యజమాని (నాజర్) ఈ ఆర్గానిక్ హోటల్ వల్ల తన వ్యాపారం దెబ్బతింటోందని కుట్రలు పన్నుతుంటాడు. అందులో భాగంగా ఆ హోటల్ లైసెన్స్ ని రుబాబు చేసి పట్టుకుపోతాడు. దాంతో తమ కుటుంబ వ్యాపారానికి అడ్డొస్తున్న అతని గోడౌన్ కాల్చేసి ఆ లైసెన్స్ ని వెనక్కి తీసుకొచ్చేస్తాడు టీనేజ్ తమ్ముడు. కానీ హింసవైపు అడుగేసిన తన తమ్ముడిని మందలిస్తాడు అన్న. ఎప్పటికైనా ఏదో ఒకటి అయ్యి వెనొక్కొస్తానని చెప్పి కలకత్తా రైలెక్కేసి పారిపోతాడు తమ్ముడు. అలా వెళ్లిన వాడు కలకత్తాలో క్రమంగా పెద్ద డాన్ అయిపోతాడు. కానీ ఒక కారణం వల్ల మళ్లీ బంధాలని వెతుక్కుంటూ ఇంటికొస్తాడు. ఆ కారణమేంటి? వచ్చాక ఏమౌతుంది? అది మిగతా కథ. 

ఇంతవరకు కథ చెప్పాక తక్కినది చెప్పమంటే వందలాది సినిమాలు చూసిన ప్రేక్షకులు ఊహించి చెప్పేయొచ్చు. సరిగ్గా అదే ఉంటుంది తెరమీద. "శంకర్ దాదా ఎం.బి.బి.ఎస్" లో చిరంజీవి తన హింసని తన తండ్రి దగ్గర దాచినట్టు, "బాషా"లో రజనీకాంత్ తన తమ్ముడి దగ్గర దాచినట్టు ఇక్కడ గోపీచంద్ తన అన్న దగ్గర దాస్తుంటాడు. ఆ అన్న అతి మంచితనం వల్ల విలన్లు ఏర్పడడం, వాళ్లని అన్నకి తెలియకుండానే తమ్ముడు చావచితక్కొట్టడం చివరికి మూస పద్ధతిలో సినిమా ముగియడం జరుగుతాయి. 

ఈ కథలో హీరోయిన్ ఉండాలి కాబట్టి ఉండడం, హీరోకి సైడ్ కిక్కులు ఉండాలి కాబట్టి ఇద్దరు కమెడియన్స్ (గెటప్ శ్రీను, సత్య) ఉండడం కూడా ఫార్ములాలో భాగమే. 

ఇక దీనికి తోడు హై వోళ్టేజ్ ఫైట్స్, హీరో బిల్దప్పులు, "అతడు" సినిమాలో మహేష్ బాబుని గుర్తు తెచ్చేలాగ సింగిల్ క్లిక్కులో రూ 50 కోట్లు మొబైల్ ట్రాన్స్ఫర్ చేయడాలు (అఫ్కోర్స్.."అతడు"లో లక్షల్లోనే అనుకోండి), అత్యంత పేలవమైన కామెడీ ట్రాక్, ఊకదంపుడు లవ్ ట్రాక్ అన్నీ కలగలిపి పెదవి విరిచేలా చేస్తాయి. 

కథాకథనాలు తేలిపోయినా తెర మీద ప్రొడక్షన్ వేల్యూస్ మాత్రం బరువుగానే ఉన్నాయి. 

"నా ప్రాణమాగదు పిల్లో బెంగాలి రసగుల్ల" పాటొక్కటీ క్యాచీగా ఉంది తప్ప గుర్తుపెట్టుకోవడానికి సంగీతపరంగా ఏదీ లేదు. కెమెరా, యాక్షన్ కోరియోగ్రఫీ భారీగా ఉన్నాయి.

శ్రీవాస్ దర్శకత్వం పరమ వీక్. ఏ దర్శకుడైనా తలచుకుంటే సాధారణ కథని కూడా మేజికల్ గా తెరకెక్కించొచ్చు. బహుశా ఆ "తలచుకోవడం" లేక మూస కథకి పరమమూస దర్శకత్వం తోడయ్యింది. 

గోపీచంద్ తన పని వరకు బాగానే చేసాడు. ఒక పాటలో డ్యాన్స్ మూవ్మెంట్స్ కూడా బాగున్నాయి. 

డింపుల్ హయాతి ఉండడానికన్నట్టుగా ఉంది. సగటు బిలో ఏవరేజ్ కమెర్షియల్ సినిమాలోని హీరోయిన్ లాగ మూసగా రాయబడింది ఆమె పాత్ర.  

జగపతిబాబు గాంధీయిజం బోధించి చివరికి మాస్ ప్రేక్షకుల కోసం అన్నట్టుగా ట్రాకు మారుస్తాడు. 

ఖుష్బూ చేయాల్సినంత కొంత, చేయాల్సినదానికంటే ఎక్కువగా ఇంకొంత చేసి తన ఉనికిని చాటుకుంది. 

రాజారవీంద్ర సెకండాఫు మధ్య వరకు ప్యాడింగ్ ఆర్టిస్టులా ఉండి "ఓకే సార్" అని ఒక డైలాగ్ కొడతాడు. తర్వాత ఒక డైలాగ్ సీనుతో అతని క్యారెక్టర్ అయిపోయిందనిపిస్తుంది. 

వెన్నెల కిషోర్ మీద పెట్టిన కామెడీ లాంటి ట్రాకు చిరాకు తెప్పిస్తుంది. సత్య, గెటప్ శ్రీను, సప్తగిరి, ఆలి ఒక్కసారి కూడా సరిగ్గా నవ్వించలేకపోయారంటే కామెడీ రైటింగ్ ఎంత బ్యాడ్ గా ఉందో అర్ధం చేసుకోవచ్చు. 

ఇవాళ యూట్యూబులో పాత సినిమాల నుంచి బోలెడన్ని కామెడీ సీన్స్ దొరుకుతున్నాయి. కావల్సినన్ని లవ్ ట్రాక్స్, ఫైట్స్ కూడా కనిపిస్తాయి. ఇప్పుడు కొత్తగా తీసిందేంటి? ఈ రకం సినిమా తీసి జనాన్ని హాలుకి రప్పించగలమన్న ధైర్యం ఏమిటి? ఏం నమ్మి ఈ కథని ఓకే చేసారో నిర్మాతలకే తెలియాలి. 

పీపుల్స్ మీడియా ఫ్యాక్టరీ వారి సినిమాలంటే కరెమ్షియల్ ఫార్ములాలో ఉంటూనే కథలో ఎంతోకొంత కొత్తదనం ఉంటుందనే అభిప్రాయాలున్నాయి. బహుశా ఆ ఇమేజ్ నుంచి బయటపడాలనుకుంటున్నారు కాబోలు..తాము కూడా సాదాసీదా బ్యానరే అని అనిపించుకోవాలని ఈ సినిమాని చేసినట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. లేకపోతే ఎప్పటి కథ ఇది? కనీసం పదేళ్ల క్రితం తీసున్నా అప్పటికే పదేళ్ల నాటి పాత కథ అని అనేవాళ్లేమో. కళ్లు మూసుకుని పది పాత సినిమాల్ని తలచుకుని అందులో కొంత, ఇందులో కొంత లేపేసి ఈ కథ రాసేసినట్టు ఉందంతే. 

అనవసరంగా "రామబాణం" లాంటి మంచి టైటిల్ ని ఈ తుప్పుబాణానికి వాడేశారు.

కొ న్ని క‌ల‌యిక‌లు ప్ర‌త్యేక‌మైన అంచ‌నాల్ని... ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తాయి. గోపీచంద్(Gopi chand) - శ్రీవాస్ క‌ల‌యిక అలాంటిదే. ‘ల‌క్ష్యం’, ‘లౌక్యం’ త‌ర్వాత ఆ ఇద్ద‌రూ క‌లవ‌డమే ఆ అంచ‌నాల‌కి కార‌ణం. విజ‌య‌వంత‌మైన ఆ క‌ల‌యిక‌లో రూపొందిన మూడో చిత్రం ‘రామ‌బాణం’ ఆరంభం నుంచీ మంచి ప్ర‌చారాన్నే సొంతం చేసుకుంది. క‌థేంటంటే: రాజారామ్ (జ‌గ‌ప‌తిబాబు) త‌న ఊళ్లో సుఖీభ‌వ పేరుతో హోట‌ల్ న‌డుపుతుంటాడు. ప్ర‌జ‌ల ఆరోగ్యమే ప‌ర‌మావ‌ధి అనుకునే ఆయ‌న‌... సంప్ర‌దాయ వంట‌కాల్ని త‌యారు చేయిస్తూ త‌క్కువ ధ‌రల‌కే అందుబాటులో ఉంచుతుంటాడు. వ్యాపారంలో పోటీదారుల‌కి అది కంట‌గింపుగా మారుతుంది. జీకే (త‌రుణ్ అరోరా), అత‌ని మామ (నాజ‌ర్‌) సుఖీభ‌వ హోట‌ల్‌పై దౌర్జ‌న్యానికి పాల్ప‌డి లైసెన్స్ తీసుకెళ్లిపోతారు. దాంతో రాజారామ్ త‌మ్ముడైన విక్కీ (గోపీచంద్‌) రాత్రికి రాత్రే వాళ్ల ఇంటిపై దాడిచేసి లైసెన్స్ తీసుకొస్తాడు. నీతి నిజాయ‌తీగా మెలిగే రాజారామ్ ఏదైనా చ‌ట్ట ప‌రిధిలోనే చేయాల‌ని భావిస్తుంటాడు. త‌న త‌మ్ముడు విక్కీ చేసిన ప‌ని న‌చ్చ‌ని రాజారామ్... ఇలాంటివి చేస్తే జీవితంలో ఉన్న‌తంగా ఎద‌గ‌లేమ‌ని చెబుతూ అత‌న్ని పోలీసుల‌కి అప్ప‌జెప్పేందుకు వెళ‌తాడు. ఇంత‌లో విక్కీ తాను ఎప్ప‌టికైనా ఉన్న‌తంగా ఎదిగి తిరిగొస్తానంటూ త‌ప్పించుకుని కలకత్తా వెళ్లిపోతాడు. అక్క‌డికి వెళ్లిన విక్కీ ఏం చేశాడు? ప‌దిహేనేళ్ల త‌ర్వాత తిరిగి రావ‌ల్సిన అవ‌స‌రం ఆయ‌న‌కి ఎందుకొచ్చింది? ఎలా ఉందంటే: పాత క‌థ‌ల్ని కూడా కొత్త‌గా చెబుతున్న స‌మ‌యం ఇది. క‌థ అదే అయినా దానికి కొత్త నేప‌థ్యాల్ని మేళ‌వించి, విభిన్న‌మైన పాత్రీక‌ర‌ణ‌ల‌తోనూ... క‌థ‌నంతోనూ మేజిక్ చేస్తూ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని మెప్పించే ప్ర‌య‌త్నాలు జ‌రుగుతున్నాయి. కుటుంబ క‌థ‌లు ఇప్పుడు రావ‌డం లేదు క‌దాని... ద‌శాబ్దాల కింద‌టే చూసేసిన క‌థ‌ల్ని అదే ఫార్ములాతో ఇప్పుడు తెర‌పైకి తీసుకొస్తామంటే కుద‌ర‌దు. కానీ, రామ‌బాణం (rama banam review) విష‌యంలో జ‌రిగింది అదే. సేంద్రీయ ఉత్ప‌త్తులు, సంప్ర‌దాయ ఆహారం అంటూ ఓ కొత్త నేప‌థ్యాన్ని ఎంచుకున్నారు. త‌గిన తారాగ‌ణం, కావ‌ల్సినంత బ‌డ్జెట్ ఉంద‌ని తెర‌పైన హంగులే చెబుతున్నాయి. కానీ చిత్రాన్ని మ‌లిచిన విధానం మాత్రం పేల‌వంగా ఉంది. ఆరంభం నుంచి చివ‌రి వ‌ర‌కూ ఒక్క స‌న్నివేశంలోనూ కొత్త‌ద‌నం లేదు. ప్రేమ, కుటుంబ అనుబంధాలు,  డ్రామా, ఆలోచ‌నని రేకెత్తించ‌గ‌లిగే నేప‌థ్యం.. ఇలా అన్నీ ఉన్న క‌థే అది. క‌థానాయ‌కుడు క‌లక‌త్తా నుంచి ఫ్లైటెక్కి సొంత కుటుంబాన్ని క‌ల‌వ‌డం కోసం బ‌య‌ల్దేర‌డంతో క‌థ మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది. క‌థానాయకుడి ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్‌, క‌ల‌క‌త్తా జీవితం, అక్క‌డ విక్కీ భాయ్‌గా ఎద‌గడం వంటి స‌న్నివేశాలతో సినిమా సాగుతుంది. యూ ట్యూబ‌ర్ భైర‌వి (డింపుల్ హ‌యాతి)తో ప్రేమలో ప‌డ‌టంతో క‌థ‌లో మ‌లుపు చోటు చేసుకుంటుంది. క‌థానాయ‌కుడు ప‌దిహేనేళ్ల తర్వాత తిరిగి  సొంత కుటుంబానికి ద‌గ్గ‌ర కావ‌డం, అక్క‌డ చోటు చేసుకునే ప‌రిణామాలు ప్రేక్ష‌కుడి ఊహ‌కు అందేవే. (Ramabanam movie review) కొన్న‌యితే మ‌రీ అతిగా అనిపిస్తాయి. క‌థానాయ‌కుడు ఫోన్‌లోనే రూ.50 కోట్లు స‌ర్దుబాటు చేసి పెళ్లికి ఒప్పించే స‌న్నివేశాలు అలాంటివే. కామెడీ కోస‌మంటూ వెన్నెల కిశోర్‌ని మ్యూజిక్ టీచ‌ర్‌గా చూపిస్తూ తీర్చిదిద్దిన స‌న్నివేశాల్లో ఏమాత్రం కొత్త‌ద‌నం లేదు. ఆ స‌న్నివేశాలు పెద్దగా న‌వ్వించ‌వు. ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాలు కొద్దిలో కొద్దిగా న‌యం.  అన్న‌ద‌మ్ములిద్ద‌రి అభిప్రాయాలూ క‌ల‌వ‌డం, ఆ త‌ర్వాత చోటు చేసుకునే ప‌రిణామాలు మాస్ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని మెప్పిస్తాయి. సేంద్రీయ ఆహార ఉత్పత్తుల గురించి కోర్టులో జ‌రిగే వాద‌న‌లు, న్యాయ‌మూర్తి చెప్పే మాట‌లు, సందేశం మెప్పిస్తాయి.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: గోపీచంద్ క‌నిపించిన విధానం బాగుంది. స్టైల్‌గా క‌నిపిస్తూ, యాక్ష‌న్ ఘ‌ట్టాల్లోనూ, పాట‌ల‌తోనూ మెప్పించాడు. కానీ ఆయ‌న పాత్ర‌లో ఏమాత్రం కొత్త‌ద‌నం లేదు.  జ‌గ‌పతిబాబుని ఈ మ‌ధ్య ప్ర‌తినాయ‌కుడిగానే ఎక్కువ‌గా చూస్తున్నాం. కానీ ఇందులో సాత్వికంగా క‌నిపిస్తూ రాజారామ్ పాత్ర‌లో ఒదిగిపోయారు. ఆయ‌న పాత్ర‌ని మ‌లిచిన విధానం బాగుంది. డింపుల్ హ‌యాతి పాట‌ల‌కే ప‌రిమితం. డ్యాన్స్‌లు బాగా చేశారు.  ఖుష్బూ  పాత్ర ప‌రిధి మేర‌కు న‌టించారు. అలీ, వెన్నెల కిశోర్‌, స‌త్య‌, గెట‌ప్ శ్రీను, స‌ప్త‌గిరి గ్యాంగ్ చేసిన హంగామా ఏమాత్రం న‌వ్వించ‌దు.  త‌రుణ్ అరోరా, నాజ‌ర్, రాజా ర‌వీంద్రతోపాటు క‌ల‌క‌త్తా విల‌న్లు త‌దిత‌రులు అల‌వాటైన పాత్ర‌ల్లోనే క‌నిపించారు.  క‌ల‌క‌త్తా రౌడీలు, లోక‌ల్ రౌడీలు ఇలా బోలెడంత విల‌న్ గ్యాంగ్ ఉన్నా ఆ పాత్ర‌లన్నీ  తేలిపోయాయి. దాంతో హీరోయిజం కూడా పెద్ద‌గా పండ‌లేదు. (rama banam review) సాంకేతికంగా సంగీతం, కెమెరా, క‌ళ‌ విభాగాల ప‌నితీరు మెప్పిస్తుంది. కొన్ని స‌న్నివేశాలు రిచ్‌గా క‌నిపించాయి. ‘సాక్ష్యం’ త‌ర్వాత సుదీర్ఘ‌మైన విరామం తీసుకుని ఈ సినిమా చేసిన ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు శ్రీవాస్ త‌న ప‌నితీరుతో ప్ర‌భావం చూపించ‌లేక‌పోయారు.  పాత క‌థ‌ని, అంతే మూస ప‌ద్ధ‌తుల్లో చెప్పారు. నిర్మాణం ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది

Ramabanam Review: రామబాణం ప్రీమియర్ టాక్: గోపీచంద్ మార్క్ మాస్ మసాలా ఎంటర్టైనర్? సాధారణ ఆడియన్స్ ఫీలింగ్ ఇదే!

హీరో గోపీచంద్ కలిసొచ్చిన డైరెక్టర్ తో హ్యాట్రిక్ మూవీగా రామబాణం చేశారు. హిట్టు కోసం తపిస్తున్న ఆయన ఫ్యామిలీ యాక్షన్ ఎంటర్టైనర్ తో ప్రేక్షకులను పలకరించారు. మే 5న వరల్డ్ వైడ్ ఈ మూవీ విడుదలైంది. ప్రీమియర్స్ ముగియగా టాక్ ఎలా ఉందో చూద్దాం...   

Ramabanam Movie Review

రామబాణం కథ చెప్పాలంటే చాలా సింపుల్. విలువలు, నియమాలతో బ్రతికే ఒక అందమైన ఉమ్మడి కుటుంబం. ఈ కుటుంబాన్ని విలన్ డిస్ట్రబ్ చేస్తాడు. అప్పుడు ఆ ఫ్యామిలీలో ఒకడైన హీరో రంగంలోకి దిగుతాడు. శత్రువుల ఆట కట్టిస్తాడు. ఇది ఏళ్లుగా చాలా మంది దర్శకులు వాడేసిన మాస్ కమర్షియల్ సబ్జెక్టు. శ్రీవాస్ ఇదే తరహా కథతో ఆడియెన్సుని మెప్పించే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు.   

శ్రీవాస్ డెబ్యూ మూవీ లక్ష్యం సూపర్ హిట్. అందులో గోపీచంద్, జగపతిబాబు అన్నదమ్ములుగా నటించారు. శ్రీవాస్-గోపీచంద్ కాంబోలో తెరకెక్కిన లౌక్యం పర్లేదు అనిపించుకుంది. హ్యాట్రిక్ కోసం వీరిద్దరూ మరోసారి కలిశారు. అయితే ఒక తరహా ఫార్ములా ఒకసారి వర్క్ అవుట్ అయ్యిందని ప్రతిసారి కాదు. కథ, కథనాల విషయంలో అప్డేట్ కాకపోతే కష్టం.   

దర్శకుడు శ్రీవాస్ రెండు దశాబ్దాల క్రితం హిట్ సబ్జెక్టునే ఇప్పటికీ నమ్ముకున్నారనిపిస్తుంది. రామబాణం అలాంటి చిత్రమే అని ప్రేక్షకుల అభిప్రాయం. అవుట్ డేటెడ్ మాస్ కమర్షియల్ ఎంటర్టైనర్ అంటున్నారు. ఏ మాత్రం కొత్తదనం లేని కథ కథనాలతో రామబాణం తెరకెక్కిందన్న మాట వినిపిస్తోంది.   

యాక్షన్, ఎమోషన్స్, కామెడీ, రొమాన్స్ వంటి కమర్షియల్ అంశాలు జొప్పించి రామబాణం తెరకెక్కింది. అయితే అవేమీ వర్క్ అవుట్ కాలేదంటున్నారు. కామెడీ అక్కడక్కడా పర్లేదు అనిపించిందట. కొన్ని చోట్ల విసిగించింది అంటున్నారు. హీరోయిన్ తో కెమిస్ట్రీ కూడా అంతంత మాత్రమే.   

గోపీచంద్ యాక్షన్ ఎపిసోడ్స్, మాస్ వన్ లైనర్స్ ఓ వర్గాన్ని మెప్పించే అవకాశం కలదు. కొత్తదనం ఆశించే ప్రేక్షకులకు నిరాశ తప్పదంటున్నారు. దర్శకుడు శ్రీవాస్ మరోసారి ప్రేక్షకుల అంచనాలు అందుకోలేకపోయారన్నది ఆడియన్స్ అభిప్రాయం.    

జగపతిబాబు, కుష్బూ, నాజర్, అలీ, వెన్నెల కిషోర్, సచిన్ ఖేడేకర్, సప్తగిరి వంటి భారీ స్టార్ క్యాస్ట్ ఈ చిత్రంలో నటించారు. వారిని పూర్తి స్థాయిలో దర్శకుడు వాడుకోలేదంటున్నారు. డింపుల్ హయాతి గ్లామర్ పరంగా ఓకే అంటున్నారు.  మొత్తంగా రామబాణం గురితప్పింది మాట వినిపిస్తోంది. గోపీచంద్ కి ఈ మూవీ ఎలాంటి ఫలితం ఇస్తుందో తెలియాలంటే వీకెండ్ వరకు వేచి చూడాలి.
