Digital Campus

Presentation College’s Digital Campus Initiative is intended to better enhance the learning experience of all students. The following are technology requirements for attending Presentation College:

  • All degree-seeking students are required to have a laptop; PC Virtual students have the option of either a laptop or a desktop.
  • All laptops must meet the required specifications.
  • All laptops must be registered online with the Presentation College Help Desk.

Students who have not fulfilled the requirements above may have a laptop purchased for them and charged to their account. Additional information can be found on the website at www.presentation.edu/technology/digital-campus-initiative/ .

Although students will likely use their laptop for all needs, there are also computer labs located in 213, the Career and Learning Center, and the Library. All Presentation College campus buildings have wireless access points that allow students to access their email, Moodle, and the Internet. The wireless network is intended for individual student use ONLY. Using the connection to create any type of server (game, web, FTP or other) is strictly prohibited and may result in the loss of your connection. Pay-for-print network printers are located in the Career and Learning Center and the Library. Print cards can be purchased from the Bookstore to add credit to student print accounts. Print balances are not refundable. Fairmont students may contact the support staff at those campuses for support and to configure their laptops for use on the wireless network. Please contact the Presentation College Help Desk at 605-229-8411 for network and software questions or for assistance with purchasing or setting up a laptop.

All students accessing Presentation College electronic resources agree to full acceptance of the Technology Acceptable Use Policy and any other applicable state or federal regulations.

Presentation College Library provides quality collections and services in support of all programs offered by the College. Located on the first floor of the main building in Aberdeen, the library is open 75 hours per week. Among the services provided for students are: personal and classroom instruction in the research process and the proper citation of sources, computers for patron use, printing assistance, individual and group study spaces, interlibrary loan, fax, photocopier, and document scanner.

The library’s extensive online research sources are available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, through the library web page. These resource collections allow ease of access, searching, and retrieval of information by all Presentation College students, faculty and staff, whether on or off campus. In addition to print book collections, the library provides access to more than 130,000 eBooks, including reference eBooks and research databases offering abstracts and full-text articles from a wide variety of journals, newspapers, and magazines, and digitized audio-visual materials. Reserved items, including course materials and a variety of textbooks, are available at the information desk for use by students and faculty.

A document delivery program exists for materials not locally available. Library staff are available in-person, as well as via phone, and email to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff. Presentation College maintains a satellite library at the Fairmont campus. Fairmont Campus students may also use the Martin County Library in Fairmont, through an affiliation agreement between Presentation College and the Martin County Library, for the shipping and return of interlibrary loan materials.

For assistance, visit the library, or contact 605-229-8546 or email at [email protected]

PC Campus Stores

The Aberdeen campus houses the main store for sales of clothing and supplies, as well as a convenience store. The Fairmont campus also has a small selection of clothing and snacks for sale. Domestic mail services are also available at the Aberdeen store.

Clothing purchased from PC stores can be returned or exchanged for a full refund within 30 days of purchase if accompanied by the original receipt. The clothing must be unworn and unwashed. Refunds will be issued in the same manner as the original purchase.

PC Online Bookstore

Presentation College provides a listing of all required books on the College website so students can be aware of what books are needed while registering for classes.

Books are no longer for sale at campus stores but are available through the new PC Online Bookstore. Through a partnership with a national book company, the PC Online Bookstore offers students many more options not available through the campus store such as purchasing new or used books, rentals, e-books, etc. Students can also post their books for sale through the online bookstore with a much larger potential of buyers and set their own resale price.

The PC Online Bookstore has advantages over ordering through other online companies because it is linked to the course listings at Presentation College and also to student accounts, enabling students to use a credit balance on their accounts to buy books. By Spring, 2017, each student’s registration should be linked to their account in the PC Online Bookstore, providing the student with a list of required course books when on the site.

Students can purchase their books through other avenues as well, such as other online stores, from third parties, etc. The College encourages students to investigate all options but also cautions students to check these other sources carefully to be sure the books they purchase match the course listing requirements and that all elements of the book (such as user codes) are included in the purchase.

Career & Learning Center

The Career & Learning Center (CLC) assists students from all campus locations, providing a variety of direct services, educational programs, and resource materials. The CLC offers opportunities for one-on-one tutoring, study groups, writing assistance, online tutoring, and testing services for all students. The Testing Center of the CLC offers proctoring services for many types of testing, including placement tests, CLEP exams, assessments for online courses, and make-up testing for courses on the Aberdeen campus.

The CLC provides a centralized location for career services, including resume and cover letter writing assistance, editing, and training on the use of social media tools. As part of these services, the CLC coordinates and publicizes outside job postings through bulletin boards, the website, social media, and on-site recruitment.

The Fairmont campus also has a Career & Learning Center. Proctored testing is available at the Fairmont campus CLC, 20 hours per week and by special arrangements. Like the Testing Center on the Aberdeen campus, tests proctored include placement testing, CLEP exams, assessments for online courses, and make-up testing for Fairmont campus students.

Online tutoring is available for all students through NetTutor and PLATO, which supports students that are off-site or have schedule conflicts. This web-based tutoring is available 24 hours per day in a multitude of subject areas. Contact the CLC for more information.

Office of Disability Services

Presentation College is committed to ensuring equal learning opportunities for all students, and provides students with disabilities reasonable accommodations in accordance with the College’s procedures. Students requiring accommodations or services should contact the Office of Disability Services, located in the Career & Learning Center, Aberdeen campus. Students who believe they qualify for disability services should contact the Disabilities Services Coordinator/CLC Director as soon as possible to arrange a meeting, in person or via phone or email.

Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry serves the spiritual needs of the Presentation College community. Activities are offered to students of all faiths. Ministry activities promote a community of faith, service, and friendship. Worship and prayer, a supportive environment, and faith-centered activities are available to all students, staff, and faculty. Presentation College respects and welcomes those of all faiths and affirms the dignity of all persons.

Counseling Services

Counseling services are available to all students at Presentation College. Presentation College has a licensed counselor on staff to work with students from all campus locations. The campus counselor provides a safe, comfortable environment in which to discuss a variety of items, such as personal, spiritual, academic, or interpersonal topics. If specialized off-campus counseling is necessary, the student will be able to have up to three visits per academic year at no cost. Drug, alcohol, gambling, and financial services education and counseling are also available. Students should contact the Student Affairs Office at 605-229-8395 or the campus counselor at 605-229-8524 for further information or to make a confidential appointment. Fairmont students needing counseling services should contact the campus director at 507-235-4658. PC Virtual students should contact the campus counselor at 605-229-8524 for a list of counseling services that may be available.

Health Services

Presentation College offers free and reduced cost medical care for its students through facilities in Aberdeen and Fairmont. Students needing services above and beyond the free services will be referred to a medical clinic in those communities. Students seen at those clinics will be charged for the office visit. Prior to seeing a physician, it is the student’s responsibility to inform clinic staff, by student identification card, that she/he is a PC student. The resulting charge for the reduced cost appointment may include specified lab work at no further cost. Any other lab or radiology tests will be at the student’s expense.

Aberdeen and PC Virtual students should contact the Student Affairs Office at 605-229-8395 for further information. Fairmont students should contact the campus director at 507-235-4658 for a list of health services that may be available.

Presentation College

What is the history of Presentation College?

Presentation College, located in Aberdeen, South Dakota, was established in 1951 as a high school by the Presentation Sisters. It wasn't until 1959 that it was formally commissioned as a college by the then Education and Culture Minister, Dr. Patrick Solomon. Initially, it was known as Presentation Junior College before being renamed to its current title.

The college was founded on Catholic principles, with a mission to challenge students towards academic excellence and holistic development. A month after its establishment, the Presentation Brothers took over the college's operations at the request of His Grace. Brother Livinus Kelly assumed leadership in April 1959, marking the beginning of a long and memorable tenure by the Presentation Brothers.

Over the decades, Presentation College has seen significant transformations and expansions. In 1966, it started offering associate degrees in Arts and Sciences, and by 1968, it had become co-educational. Since 1971, the college has been continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In 1990, it received accreditation to offer four-year professional baccalaureate programs.

The undergraduate programs at Presentation College have a professions focus, including Health and Natural Sciences, Nursing, and Social Science and Humanities. In 1980, the Cheyenne River Lakota Nursing School at Eagle Butte, South Dakota, a satellite of the nursing program of Presentation College, enrolled its first class of Native American students. The school was later renamed Presentation College-Lakota Campus in 1991.

Today, Presentation College is an independent Catholic educational institution, sponsored by the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (PBVM). It has a current enrollment of 786 students and operates across campuses in Aberdeen and Sioux Falls in South Dakota and Fairmont, Minnesota. The college's athletics program, which began in 1995, continues to grow and expand, offering male and female students the opportunity to participate in various sports.

In 2003, a second satellite location, Presentation College – Fairmont Campus, was opened in Fairmont, Minnesota. In 2006, the college partnered with Kilian Community College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. However, this partnership ended in May 2013, and Presentation College now operates its own campus in Sioux Falls.

Presentation College is dedicated to providing programs of distinction that educate the whole person, serve God and the community, and respond to the needs of students and communities where the college has a presence. It offers a wide range of Bachelor and Associate degree programs, as well as certificate programs in various fields.

What are the faculties and departments at Presentation College?

This center provides a range of career services, including career and major exploration, resume development, mock interviews, and job search assistance. These services are designed to support students in their career journey and to help them make informed decisions about their future.

The Office of the Registrar at Presentation College plays a crucial role in maintaining official academic information and records. It supports the faculty, staff, and students by serving as the institutional caretaker for these records.

In summary, Presentation College offers a wide range of faculties and departments, each designed to support the diverse academic needs of its students.

Presentation College in South Dakota plans to close

Rick Seltzer's headshot

Dive Brief:

  • Presentation College said Tuesday that it will soon shut down, ending the run of the small nonprofit in Aberdeen, South Dakota, which was founded more than seven decades ago by an order of Catholic nuns seeking to provide nursing education to boost rural healthcare.
  • Before the COVID-19 pandemic, college leaders started evaluating their prospects for increasing enrollment, which totaled under 600 students in fall 2021. But the college faced challenges including a high dependency on gifts and tuition revenue, a remote location that's hard for out-of-state students to reach, and the pandemic.
  • Presentation won't enroll new students for the 2023-24 academic year. It will shut down its Aberdeen campus operations after the upcoming spring and summer sessions and transfer an online nursing program it operates to a Catholic university in Iowa.

Dive Insight:

Several of Presentation College's key metrics mirror those of other stressed or closing colleges. It's small, it has been losing enrollment, and it has been increasingly discounting tuition.

The institution enrolled 821 students in fall 2016, according to federal data. But its student body shrank steadily since then to just 577 five years later.

Presentation discounted tuition at increasing rates over that time period, its audited financial statements show. In fiscal 2016 , it listed $3.5 million in scholarships and grants versus $13.8 million in topline tuition and fee revenue. By 2021 , scholarships and grants totaled $4.3 million against $11.8 million in tuition and fee revenue.

In other words, the college went from not collecting 25 cents for every dollar it charged in sticker price to forgoing 36 cents, even as it enrolled fewer students.

"After careful evaluation of the sustainability of the College’s academic programs, and a thorough review of alternatives, the Board of Trustees and Presentation Sisters reluctantly decided to close the physical campus and implement Teach-Out programs as the most responsible way to steward students’ pathways to completing their degrees," Sister Mary Thomas, president of the Presentation Sisters Corporate Board, said in a statement Tuesday.

The university has teach-out agreements in place with the University of Mary, in North Dakota, Olivet College, in Michigan, and St. Ambrose University, in Iowa. It's seeking additional teach-out partners.

St. Ambrose is also taking on an online bachelor of science in nursing program operated by Presentation. It will become known as the Nano Nagle Online School of Nursing at St. Ambrose University, named for the founder of the Presentation Sisters.

"St. Ambrose University’s state-of-the-art nursing program is a natural fit with Presentation to create the Nano Nagle Online School of Nursing, ensuring the legacies of the College and the Presentation Sisters," Presentation College President Paula Langteau said in a statement.

Most Presentation programs will end after the spring semester. A practical nursing program will run through August.

Presentation is shutting down after closing a branch campus in Fairmont, Minnesota, where it started operating in 2003 . The institution closed that branch in 2021.

When the branch closure was announced, Vice President for Academics Diane Duin pointed to low application numbers and increasing local competition. Duin told the Fairmont Sentinel the college had "opportunities for online learning." As of 2019, the branch had enrolled about 50 students.

Presentation College joins a growing list of institutions to close or announce plans to shutter in the wake of the pandemic.

Among them are several other Catholic institutions. In the last year, two in California, Holy Names University and Marymount California University , decided to close. Chatfield College , a two-year institution in Ohio, opted to stop operating as a higher education institution and turn into a nonprofit group trying to improve degree attainment. And St. John's University laid plans to close a campus it operates on Staten Island, New York, after the spring 2024 term.

In each of those cases, college leaders pointed to declining enrollment. They often also cited rising expenses and pressures exacerbated by the pandemic.

Numerous factors challenging small private colleges existed before the pandemic. Pressures stemming from college costs, student price sensitivity and economies of scale in operations predate the crisis. So do declines in birth rates around the Great Recession that have long been predicted to drive down the overall number of high school graduates available to enroll in college in many parts of the country.

But colleges were temporarily buoyed by millions of dollars apiece in federal pandemic relief funding. That money was generally most valuable to institutions under the greatest preexisting financial stress.

Now no more aid is coming, leaving college leaders still worried about risks that enrollment constraints pose to their business models. Institutions with noncompetitive admissions are generally considered most likely to lose enrollment and the important net tuition revenue it drives.

AIM OF THE PROJECT • A college library management is a project that manages and stores books information electronically according to students needs. The system helps both students and library manager to keep a constant track of all the books available in the library. • It allows both the admin and the student to search for the desired book. It becomes necessary for colleges to keep a continuous check on the books issued and returned and even calculate fine. • This task if carried out manually will be tedious and includes chances of mistakes. • These errors are avoided by allowing the system to keep track of information such as issue date, last date to return the book and even fine information and thus there is no need to keep manual track of this information which thereby avoids chances of mistakes. • Thus this system reduces manual work to a great extent allows smooth flow of library activities by removing chances of errors in the details.

OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT • This project system was highly recommended due to the rapid increase of computer related tools in the industry. • With this proposed system features and functions of the online book shop and the e-library that will be able to accommodate more reliably consistent and faster in providing a better service to the users.

SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: • Processor : intel 3 • Motherboard : intel 915gvsr chipset board • Ram : 4 gb ddr2 ram • Hard disk drive : 160 gb SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: • Front end : html5, css3, bootstrap • Back end : php, mysql • Control end : angular java script PHP TOOLS: • xampp-win32-5.5.19-0-VC11 ANDROID TOOLS: • Android Emulator • xampp-win32-5.5.19-0-VC11 • Android Studio

EXISTING SYSTEM • Time and access can be obstacles to library research. • Readers must get to the library during library hours, which may not be convenient. They also may need to stay in the library for a long time to ensure they have exhausted all resources. • Some resources may not be available for checkout, which means the student must stay in the library to use them. • And those that do circulate may be checked out by others and unavailable to anyone else.

DISADVANTAGES OF EXISTING SYSTEM • Lack of privacy • Risk in the management of the data. • Less Security • Low co-ordination between  • Less User-friendly • Accuracy not guaranteed • Not in reach of distant users. • There is no storage and automation if users have some enquiry.

PROPOSED SYSTEM • Proposed system is an automated Library Management System. Through our software user can add books, search books, renewal, update information, edit information, and return books in quick time. Our proposed system has the following advantages. • Developed a well-organized book issue and searching system. Produced a well-designed and functioning system in accordance to the needs and wants of the borrowers. • Minimized the task and the effort being performed by both the owners and borrowers. • Provided the school and the students a well-organize and well-presented reports. • . User friendly interface • . Fast access to database • . Less error • . More Storage Capacity • . Search facility • . Look and Feel Environment • . Quick transaction

ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM • The system excludes the use of paper work by managing all the book information electronically. • Admin can keep updating the system by providing the new books arrival in system and their availability thus students need not to go to library for issuing purpose. • The system has books well organized and systematically arranged in different categories in the system so that user can easily search and find the book. • Thus, it saves human efforts and resources.

Online library management system

Online library management system

Online Library Management System makes catalogs for books with their names, edition, and volume and keeps them organized every time. The execution of this System reduces the problem for librarian seriously by making his job easier. maintaining many collections of books with different subjects and genres is not an easy task as it needs great accuracy and arrangement. Involving any manual work takes time longer than expected and also does not guarantee that no-errors comes in the entire arrangement.

Library Management System

The Library Management System using the Laravel framework is a web based application that points in building up an automated Integrated library system to keep up all day by day work of the library. This undertaking has numerous highlights that are commonly not accessible in typical integrated library system, facilities like separate user interfaces for different users having different priorities. It also has a facility of admin login. Through this, the admin can monitor the whole system. In this system, users can see the list of books they have taken and its issue date, return date and also they can reserve the books online. The fine count is robotized with exactness. The application is intended to assist clients in maintaining and organizing the library. It is easy to use for both beginners and advanced users. It incorporates a recognizable, well thoroughly considered, and appealing UI joined with solid searching, insertion and reporting capacities. Generally, this task of our own is being created to help students as well as the staff to keep up the library in the most ideal manner conceivable and decrease human endeavors. Sequential Progression

Students enrolled in the nursing program are subject to three different minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) standards. Nursing classes have a prefix of NB and NL. Students who are enrolled in courses that are prerequisites for nursing classes or general education courses required for the degree must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00. Students are, however, advised that maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.00 is not sufficient to meet the standard for enrollment in nursing classes.

Students must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.70 in order to initially enroll in nursing classes (see below).

After the first semester of enrollment in nursing classes, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. Once a student progresses to the nursing major and falls below the minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA, the student must appeal in writing to the Division of Nursing for consideration (see progression policy below). A one-time grace period for the semester following the GPA of less than 2.50 is granted in order to give the student the opportunity to raise the GPA to the 2.50 standard before dismissal from the program.

Enrollment in entry level nursing courses (NB 215/NL 215) will be permitted only if students have:

  • Completed all prerequisite courses
  • Earned a grade of "C" (2.00) or above in all required nursing major and health professions track requirement courses and in the following courses: CT 233, EN 133, and RS 293.
  • Maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.70 or higher.

Students may continue to progress according to the curriculum plan if they:

  • Complete all prerequisite courses prior to enrollment in any nursing course
  • Earn a grade of  "C"  (2.00) or above in all required nursing major and health professions track requirement courses
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher
  • Maintain an unencumbered and active license and be in compliance with all states where PC is authorized to offer the program and other appropriate state Nurse Practice Acts (LPN and RN students)
  • The RN student who is practicing as a community health nurse may be eligible to challenge NB 462/NL 462 per a portfolio. Courses successfully challenged through the portfolio process will be recorded on the transcript for a fee, not including the cost of the portfolio fee.
  • Demonstrate satisfactory performance of designated nursing skills with each clinical course and earn a satisfactory grade in both the theory and clinical/lab components of the nursing courses.
  • Pass the math calculation competency test at 100% each semester in selected clinical courses (RNs are exempt) (see Handbook for policy).
  • Remain in compliance with the standards of the nursing profession as defined by the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of practice and the Nurse Practice Act for nurses in states in which Presentation College is authorized to offer the program.
  • Maintain all rules and regulations of Presentation College as outlined in the  College Catalog .
  • Maintain current background screen(s), nursing documentation, immunizations, and other requirements in the Viewpoint Document Tracker which are valid for the entirety of the next academic semester by the deadlines of April 1st for the summer semester, August 1st for the fall semester, and December 1st for the spring semester. The cost of these items is the student's responsibility. See the Nursing Student Handbook for specific requirements.

LPN-BSN students (diploma, associate degree, or certificate) will have the opportunity to complete selected NLN mobility exams. The selected NLNs must be completed prior to enrolling in the first nursing course of NB 215/NL 215, or a signed waiver must be on file with the Division of Nursing forfeiting the right to take NLNs and agreeing to complete required coursework and clinical. Students must meet the benchmark on all of the mobility NLN exams that are attempted. If students do not meet the benchmark the first time, they will do informal remediation to master the content before retaking the exam. All students are allowed ONLY two attempts on each NLN mobility exam. Students who do not pass the exam on the second attempt will be required to take the appropriate coursework and accompanying clinical.

The benchmarks for the diploma and associate LPN NLN mobility exams are outlined below:

  • NACE II Care of the Adult Client is 74%
  • NACE II Care of the Client with a Mental Disorder is 72%
  • NACE II Care of the Childbearing Family is 72%
  • NACE II Care of the Child is 72%
  • Multilevel achievement exam Anatomy and Physiology is 70%
  • Multilevel achievement exam Microbiology is 70%

Please note that both the NACE II Care of the Childbearing Family and NACE II Care of the Child must successfully be passed in order to receive credit for Maternal-Child Nursing. Courses challenged with exams will be recorded on the transcript for a fee, not including the challenge test fee. Contact the Career and Learning Center for scores for the CLEP exam equivalent to EN 113 College Composition I (prerequisite to EN 133) and CH 103/CL 101 Introduction to Chemistry (prerequisite to CH 140).

For the diploma and associate LPN *successful challenge exams can include credit as follows:

  • NLN mobility exam NLN NACE II Care of the Client with a Mental Disorder: NB 345/NL 345 (4 credits) and PS 133 (3 credits)
  • NLN mobility exam NLN NACE II Care of the Childbearing Family and NLN NACE II Care of the Child: NB 331/NL 331 (5 credits) and PS 153 (3 credits)
  • NLN mobility exam NLN NACE II Care of the Adult Client: NB 364/NL 364 (5 credits), BI 263 (3 credits) BL 263 (1 credit), BI 293 (3 credits), and BL 291 (1 credit)
  • Anatomy and Physiology: BI 293 (3 credits) and BL 291 (1 credit)
  • Microbiology: BI 263 (3 credits) and BL 263 (1 credit)
  • EN 113: College Composition I - CLEP (prerequisite to EN 133) (3 credits)

Students who do not progress according to the curriculum plan as identified, fail, or withdraw from nursing courses must petition in writing to the Division of Nursing Admission and Progression Committee to gain permission to progress out of the expected sequence (email [email protected]).

A nursing course may be repeated one time only regardless of whether students earn less than a  "C"  or withdraw failing ( "WF" ).

Students who earn less than a  "C"  or withdraw failing ( "WF" ) in two nursing courses in two separate semesters will not be allowed to progress.

Students are accountable to follow all policies in the current Nursing Student Handbook.

In keeping with accreditation guidelines, nursing students shall complete their coursework within six calendars years, which is equivalent to 150% of the expected time allotted for program completion. In the event that students are unable to complete program requirements within the six-year timeframe, they will have a one-time opportunity to create a coursework completion plan which shall set forth a program of study for the remaining coursework to be completed within a two-year time period. The completion plan must be approved by the Nursing Division. Failure to successfully complete the remaining coursework as outlined in the completion plan within the two-year timeframe will result in termination from the program.

Failure to achieve any of these standards shall constitute reason for students to be dismissed from the program. The faculty and administration of the Division of Nursing reserve the right to dismiss any student enrolled in the major for unethical, dishonest, unprofessional, or illegal conduct that is inconsistent with the  ANA Code for Nurses.

Readmission - Progression

Students requesting readmission-progression must apply in writing to the Division of Nursing (email [email protected]). Student situations are reviewed on an individual basis. Placement is dependent upon class size and course enrollment constraints. Readmission-progression cannot be guaranteed to any student. A formal letter of provisional acceptance and or the outcome of the appeal stating the terms of the appeal will be sent to the student via email and placed in the official academic file.

Specific guidelines for readmission-progression include the following:

  • A nursing course earned less than a  "C"  (2.00) or withdrawn failing ( "WF" ) may be repeated only one time.
  • Non-nursing science courses may be repeated only one time.
  • A repeated course must be repeated within the next academic year at its earliest offering.
  • Students who have earned less than a 2.00 ("C") in two science courses (either lab or lecture) at Presentation College or another institution (same course repeated or two different courses) within the last three academic years (fall-spring) will not be readmitted.
  • If students are allowed to repeat a nursing course, they must repeat the course as availability allows.
  • Students may appeal decisions in writing based on course repetition policies to the Division of Nursing (email [email protected]). The appeal should include a recommendation from the academic advisor or course instructor. Decisions on appeal requests are the responsibility of the Division of Nursing and may be approved or denied on a case-by-case basis.
  • Meet College readmission-progression criteria.
  • Demonstrate a satisfactory level of knowledge from prerequisite nursing courses.
  • Successfully validate prior medication calculation competency and clinical skills*.
  • Readmitted students will be expected to meet graduation requirements in effect at the time of readmission-progression and to follow the baccalaureate degree nursing policies in effect for that academic year.
  • Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.70 or higher to be considered for readmission-progression.
  • A tuition deposit is required to hold a place in the class (waived for online completion students).
  • Students must meet #1 – 6 under "Progression to All Nursing Programs (General Requirements and Information) ".

*The range of fees for validation of mathematics and nursing skills is $50 - $150 dependent upon which semester of the program students re-enter. See the Nursing Student Handbook for detailed discussion of program policies.

Graduation Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is granted by Presentation College to those candidates who have completed the 121-credit requirement as described in the nursing curriculum course plan and who have met all degree requirements of Presentation College.
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher is required to graduate from the program.
  • In compliance with the Boards of Nursing, 50% of the student’s clinical experiences must be completed face-to-face in the clinical environment.
  • The fulfillment of clinical requirements will be verified in NB 472: Nursing Seminar. Students not meeting this requirement will be given an opportunity to complete the required face-to-face clinical hours prior to the completion of NB 472: Nursing Seminar.

State Board of Nursing Regulations for Licensure

The Board of Nursing may deny, revoke, or suspend any license or application for licensure or may take corrective action if the licensee or applicant has:

  • Been convicted or pled guilty to a felony. If the applicant has a felony conviction, or if the applicant has ever pled guilty to a felony, the Board of Nursing should be contacted before seeking progression to the nursing program;
  • Become addicted to the habitual use of intoxicating liquors or controlled drugs.

Prior to the Division of Nursing approval for the candidate’s licensure (NCLEX-RN) application, all College graduation requirements must be met and students’ accounts must be cleared.  Official transcripts or certificates of completion of education program forms will not be released to State Boards of Nursing until students have successfully completed Division of Nursing requirements for NCLEX-RN preparation. No exceptions to the Division of Nursing NCLEX-RN preparation requirements will be made.

How to Make a “Good” Presentation “Great”

  • Guy Kawasaki

presentation college library

Remember: Less is more.

A strong presentation is so much more than information pasted onto a series of slides with fancy backgrounds. Whether you’re pitching an idea, reporting market research, or sharing something else, a great presentation can give you a competitive advantage, and be a powerful tool when aiming to persuade, educate, or inspire others. Here are some unique elements that make a presentation stand out.

  • Fonts: Sans Serif fonts such as Helvetica or Arial are preferred for their clean lines, which make them easy to digest at various sizes and distances. Limit the number of font styles to two: one for headings and another for body text, to avoid visual confusion or distractions.
  • Colors: Colors can evoke emotions and highlight critical points, but their overuse can lead to a cluttered and confusing presentation. A limited palette of two to three main colors, complemented by a simple background, can help you draw attention to key elements without overwhelming the audience.
  • Pictures: Pictures can communicate complex ideas quickly and memorably but choosing the right images is key. Images or pictures should be big (perhaps 20-25% of the page), bold, and have a clear purpose that complements the slide’s text.
  • Layout: Don’t overcrowd your slides with too much information. When in doubt, adhere to the principle of simplicity, and aim for a clean and uncluttered layout with plenty of white space around text and images. Think phrases and bullets, not sentences.

As an intern or early career professional, chances are that you’ll be tasked with making or giving a presentation in the near future. Whether you’re pitching an idea, reporting market research, or sharing something else, a great presentation can give you a competitive advantage, and be a powerful tool when aiming to persuade, educate, or inspire others.
