Position Summary

The research analyst is expected to increase their methodological expertise and substantive knowledge for lifecourse determinants of disparities in Alzheimer’s diseases and other related dementias, and build skills for developing and implementing research studies. They will contribute to the development of analysis workflows and projects to answer targeted research questions about lifecourse determinants of aging and health. They will perform population health research activities, including designing and conducting studies, managing various datasets, performing data analyses, helping with manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, and providing other research and methodological support for existing and ongoing studies of the research team including generating manuscripts or academic presentations.

Responsibilities

Statistical Analysis on principal projects– 60%

Assistance with data analyses of the team – 20%

Data Management – 15%

Other related duties as assigned – 5%

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience

The successful candidate must possess a high level of initiative, clear communication skills, and attention to detail in addition to a demonstrated ability to be flexible to the team’s evolving needs. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in health and epidemiology related research and a demonstrated interest in reproducibility and data management.

Preferred Qualifications

A master’s degree in epidemiology or biostatistics or a related field. Programming experience in STATA and R is preferred. Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and independent project management skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Research Analyst

As an analyst you will:.

• Independently and collaboratively execute research, from set up (data collection) through to creating engaging and actionable narratives from insights.
• Build a research/storytelling plan that maps to the brief, i.e. project objectives and timelines.
• Lead client meetings about data and insights, including results delivery presentations.
• Gather client requirements to scope small projects, with the possibility of contributing to and working towards scoping more complex ones.
• Provide research-driven recommendations that map to clients' business goals.
• Facilitate workshops to help clients use Brandwatch tools to derive insights.
• Deliver technical training sessions for the team such as best practices on data cleaning or how to best leverage resources available.
• Gain an understanding of the full range of Brandwatch products and learn when and how to confidently use them.
• Stay up to date with changes in the Brandwatch tools, competitors and research industry.

Role requirements:

• 4+ years of consumer research experience or data/statistical analysis, preferably with exposure to  social media research.
• Business-, marketing- and social media-savvy
• Expert in creating data visualizations, data storytelling, and creating a compelling story flow of report deliverables.
• Confidence in business writing, client communication and presentation skills. Experience working directly with clients is a plus.
• Ability to think like a client and make recommendations based on business objectives.
• Technical aptitude for learning new software and conducting both quantitative and qualitative analyses.
• A strong sense of personal accountability and solid project management skills.
• Competency in Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Google Slides.
• Familiarity with social research, Boolean searches, unstructured data, Brandwatch or similar software is a strong advantage. Full training in Brandwatch software will be provided.
• Interest in or experience with AI is a plus.

The Investment Analyst, a role within the Chief Investment Office (CIO), will be directly responsible for maintaining formal research coverage of issuers across several non-Financial sectors and providing high conviction investment recommendations in support of the CIO Fixed Income Team SMA solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong financial statement analysis and presentation skills in addition to experience in financial markets and fundamental research specifically – either in credit or equities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain research coverage of approximately 50-60 issuers/credits across several non-Financial sectors (specific sector coverage is TBD and also dependent upon candidate experience)
• Become a subject matter expert on sectors under coverage, communicating relevant themes, issues, developments, and investment implications to the broader CIO Fixed Income Team
• Conduct in-depth financial statement/fundamental analysis, incorporating key sector trends, top-down firm macro-economic views, and thorough relative valuation analysis across a range of maturities
• Communicate sector and issuer recommendations to analysts, traders, and PM teams – continue surveillance on trade recommendations and update the CIO on an as needed basis
• Maintain detailed financial models for issuers which includes pro-forma projections where necessary
• Attend industry conferences and meet regularly/maintain relationships with company management teams and other key partners including sell side analysts, ratings agencies, industry experts, etc.
• Collaborate with teams across the CIO and Investment Solutions Group (ISG). Interact with partners and key stakeholders across the Private Bank and Merrill Lynch
• Regularly contribute to CIO team thought leadership content

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of relevant Fixed Income experience, preferably as a research associate or junior credit analyst
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Analytical mindset and strong financial modeling skills – ability to quickly synthesize data and provide thoughtful insights on complicated topics/trends
• Self-starter with an ability to manage time effectively and independently with a proactive approach managing work flow
• Very strong written and verbal communications skills
• Team-oriented mindset, ready to contribute ideas to enhance the investment process
