When consumers are cheated or the voices of ordinary citizens are drowned out by special interest lobbyists, NJPIRG speaks up and takes action. We uncover threats to public health and well-being and fight to end them, using the time-tested tools of investigative research, media exposés, grassroots organizing, advocacy and litigation. Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs) are a federation of U.S. and Canadian [4] non-profit organizations that employ grassroots organizing and direct advocacy on issues such as consumer protection, public health and transportation.
Here at NJPIRG Student Chapters, we organize college students to solve some of the world's most pressing public interest problems. NJPIRG Student Chapters is an independent statewide student organization that works on issues like environmental protection, consumer protection, and hunger and homelessness.
Our chapters and clubs on nearly 100 campuses in 25 states provide the training, professional support and resources students need to tackle climate change, protect public health, revitalize our democracy, feed the hungry and more.
This is the eighth report of its kind produced by the U.S. Public Interest Research Group Education Fund and Frontier Group. The report graded each state’s transparency website from “A” to “F” based on its content and user-friendliness.
